141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GRE] GreenCoin - A Tradeable Carbon Credit Ecosystem on: January 11, 2016, 08:03:43 AM
Staking was working now after a reboot, nothing. Stake appears to be 0.

do I need to put in the line command "walletpassphrase <pass> <time> true" every time I boot up in order to enable stake?

yes, anytime the client is closed and reopened.
Chris..thnx for the confirmation...now how do I ensure all my coins are staked?

I put the command line in and after 10 mins about 2% of available coins in my wallet are staking. How do I get it up to 100% staked? Yes, the coins are all >24 hours old...do I need the wallet on for 24 hours IOT to stake them?

I have never delved into PoS before so maybe a few lines on how PoS works, how to enable and the particulars of greencoin PoS might be useful in the near future.

I'm not quite sure if those #'s mean exactly what is staking or not. For a lot of other coins I have noticed it doesn't really reflect these splits. Maybe Ahmed can elaborate?

I also read up on the walletpassphrase command > rom https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Original_Bitcoin_client/API_calls_list >>> walletpassphrase: Stores the wallet decryption key in memory for <timeout> seconds.

Assuming a wallet is not encrypted, one should not need to re-enter the walletpassphrase for every reboot as the walletpass is not used. Is this correct?

Also, the staking amount on display goes between 0 to a few million, not all, yet the little electric zap symbol in the bottom left of the wallet states all coins staked...any idea which one is telling the truth? Note: the spendable coins are in line with the total - stake display.

Is staking with an open wallet automatic after the conf file has been added as per pg 1 of this thread OR each time the wlalet is open I need to instruct a stake to commence?

Reason I ask is I have a reasonable amount of coins, which staked all on the first day, are now only staking 3% of the max available. Note: I shut down each night.

The coin age is 24 hours. Although im considering changing the minimum confirms but that im going to discusss with chris at a later time. for now i think its fine, we're staking at a good pace so atm im happy with it.

Any ideas how to host a wallet on a NAS? I have a DNS-320 connected 24/7 which I would like to put greencoin onto...

Up and running...question as I am relatively new to PoS; how can I control the amount of coins being staked?
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GRE] GreenCoin - A Tradeable Carbon Credit Ecosystem on: January 07, 2016, 06:47:52 AM
Status?

Will my 1/2 stake of just over 8M coins re-appear or lost for good?

Will the new wallet GUI have an interface for establishing stake / reserve limits? Given the average Joe user is not likely to know the command line interface, heck even I have to research it, it would probably be a good idea to have such a feature....

83 more confirms then i can see if my fix worked.

Fingers crossed Smiley

Up and running with 100% coins  Smiley

Tried to grind out a few mines for PoW but the diff is ~17T holy crap!

Will see if staking kicks in soon.

excellent update Chris, thnx!

Given the events of the past few days, could Ahmed or Chris please finish de-bugging then;
1. provide a wallet,
2. bootstrapped IP address for chain dispersion,
3. clear and consolidated instructions on wallet transfer.

Regards,

Cranky

Some (bad-ish) news on this end. After processing about 20K payments the premine wallet ended up corrupting itself. Going to roll the chain back and this time send the coins using a small GRE network and will release the client as soon as theyre all sent and confirmed. Might be a day or 2 due to the 98K~ payouts left to make

Ahmed

Sorry the coin is taking a while. The changeover to PoS was hindered by the desire to be able to add data to the blockchain (via OP_RETURN). Ahmed is working on solutions but it will take time. He's on the case, probably one of the best guys you can get to be doing so.

Any coin transfer instructions will be posted and bulletproof, so don't worry about that.

If the change over works, will the non-redeemable coins the foundation paid out be re-issued on the new chain?

Producers: I'll keep paying on the old GRE chain even though they are not redeemable. This ensures if the new coin were to not work that there was payout continuity. However, if and when the new coin is working there will be a day (or several days perhaps) where users were paid in old GRE coins that ultimately are not redeemable.

I know it's not a very big deal, but the central tenets I have stuck to with running GreenCoin is to:
1) ensure it is fair to all participants equally and,
2) pay out every day

We will lose a couple of days with this changeover. I know this is not a big deal for the small number of you that are GreenCoin members but I just wanted to mention it.

Once we have the PoS changeover behind us we can make this coin into a potentially widely followed personal carbon crediting ecosystem.

Blockchain update is very VERY slow...4 hrs to get to block 26 and that appears to be stuck. Any chance of publishing a node with the entire chain and some bandwidth?

5 connections

****************working through the early transfer instructions  ****************

You might want to do some simple instructions / youtube video showing the process for the less tech savvy.

pls provide a link and update the main page when the DL is ready

its being compiled now. blockchain has been reset to accomodate the new blocks so everyone who has already downloaded please clear your blockchains.

For people who already downloaded and tried the first GRE v2 client

Windows users. Open My Computer and in the address bar type %APPDATA% and hit enter
Look for the folder called GreencoinV2 and delete every file except wallet.dat
Now you can download run the new greencoinv2 client

Greencoin is a long term winner. It has produced results consistently every since inception 2~3 years ago.
159  Economy / Exchanges / Bter and the case of no responses on: November 15, 2015, 10:35:21 PM
I recently gave Bter a chance with some trades; coins go in but nothing comes out.

Does anyone know the Bter admins and can either;
1. put me in touch with them as they are not responding to tickets, support requests, email, facebook or twitter
2. get Bter to sync their AsiaCoin (AC) wallet

My coins have been stuck in their system awaiting withdrawal for over a month now...
160  Economy / Exchanges / BTER admin? on: November 08, 2015, 07:53:23 AM
Does anyone know any BTER admin? If so, can you put me in touch with them...

I made the mistake of using BTER for the first time a few days ago and now have ~0.25BTC of altcoins stuck in there. I have been trying to withdraw  my funds for 5 days now and they are not returning any enquirers.
