141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: HELP: Temperature high in custom closed air rig on: April 12, 2018, 10:19:43 PM
Just today I transformed my 12*1050ti tower rig (6 on each side) into closed air rig with one exaust and 2 intake fans
But to my surprise the temperature of gpus increased by 4 Celsius. What could be wrong ? My exaust is very powerful and so are my two intake fans. So the pressure should be fine. My rig is still not completely vaccum. There are many big holes that needs to be filled. Will making it completely vaccum decrease the temp ?

If you want a closed air rig to work you need powerful fans that provide enough pressure to keep a constant air flow.

Basically you need a bunch of industrial fans as push and pull and need them to cover most of the case space.
Aww man, then what is the use of a closed air rig ? I thought it would decrease my gpu temp and reduce dust. Looks like money and time wasted. Temp. up by 6 Celsius. But I see guys making closed air rigs with no intake fans getting good results on YouTube.

I don't see how that's possible, closed up rigs with no intake fans... Surely they have some kind of intake, because they would make negative pressure without them. Maybe they have liquid cooling, but that is just too expensive and I guess no one is using it for mining cooling.

Maybe different position of fans could provide better flow of fresh air, which would lower temperature. Also, maybe number of fans that you have is not good enough. After all 12 GPU's produce a lot of heat.
142  Economy / Speculation / Re: Massive shorts liquidations, $millions in losses as Bitcoin moons on: April 12, 2018, 09:47:52 PM
The strategy that is the most basic and yet works the best is probably just buying the dips, and hold.

I agree with you, why would anyone be stupid enough to short bitcoin? Even in a bear market, pumps like this happen all the time and if you're shorting then honestly you're just asking for your position to be liquidated. Seriously, just buy and hold. Shorting is way too much risk for not a whole lot of return.

We seem to be settling in at around $7600-7700 after the price eclipsed $8000.

I can't believe how many people were shorting bitcoin just on that subreddit alone, and hell, all of their positions are being liquidated now which is one of the factors in BTC rising so high.

Actually I believe that holding for shorter periods of time can bring you more profit than holding it for longer periods. It demands more invested time and lots of work, but at the end profit could be higher.

People forgets that most of investors are newbies and that they know little about the matter. Most of them can not afford to lose money, and because of that they act on emotions. Because of that they make mistakes.

But honestly, just holding is bad for market. Constant trading is whats keeping market and price going. Active trading and using is bringing the price up, not holding. At least that is how I see things.

Most governments are currently trying to regulate cryptocurrencies and research them. People might force them to adapt cryptocurrencies but it will be possible to achieve only if we team up together and defend cryptocurrencies from being made illegal or heavily regulated by ridiculous taxes. Banks and governments will in fact lose if they decide to introduce cryptocurrencies. That's why they are trying to resist so much.

Of course that governments will try to regulate crytpo. After all everything is regulated by some kind of law, why would it be any different with crypto. Also, governments will not ban crypto. They can benefit greatly from it, so why would they ban it. Also with regulations they gain much more.

I am not sure how would governments and banks lose if they introduce cryptocurrencies? I think they would benefit from it, not lose. Also they are not trying to resist, they are looking for a right way to adopt and regulate crypto. Its not easy task for governments and banks to adopt system like blockchain, which is made to be decentralized. But no one can stop the progress of digital age. And like OP said: crypto is changing financial institutions. Also, crypto is changing peoples view of currency.

Waking up this morning with green numbers on the charts: Cryptocoin prices today. Will this mean that everybody believes in Crypto coins again? Let's hope that the prices rises to the moon.

No. It's just speculators buying the lows. When they cash out again in a few days, the prices will fall back.

In order for a large sustained rise we need some good news, and there isn't any on the horizon.

Actually there could be. I say there could be, because I am not sure if its true. Friend of mine had read somewhere that some really wealthy families like Rockefeller will join crypto market. And if that is the true, that could be good news that we are looking for. At the end its always good when crypto gets more users.

to be honest pal , all people here in crypto world are still believing that the market will survive again after this worst scenario.  But we can't blame those some people who are always hasty to sell which is the reason behind why the price always turn back after the sudden rise .and the common problem why the market is struggling to survive.

People should understand that Bitcoin and blockchain is still new to most of the people out there. Large number of new investors joined last year or this one, and only small number of them knows how it all actually works.
Big whales know that most of the investors will act because of their emotions, and because of that they are in better position to make profit and manipulate the price. Most of people will always act based on their emotions, and that is just in our nature. When those things are gone, and people get better understanding how it all works, sudden rises and falls like this will probably stop. Or at least they won't be as big as last one.
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Advice regarding risers and GPUs on: April 11, 2018, 07:17:11 PM
the best combo for this is.

1 riser per sata cable
2 risers per Molex cable.

Why? because molex cable can provide up to 150W. that's why 2 risers per cable, because risers can use up to 75W each.

SAta provides no more than 54W per cable. Which should be safe enough to power a riser. it depends on what you are doing. It's very easy. If your card uses 130W powered with an 8 pin conector (which provides up to 150W), your riser with a SATA cable should do it's job just fine.

If you need to overclock to get the best out of your card while mining (not the case of ETH), with RX 580's you will be far from 150W of the 8 pin, and you may have problems with sata, even probably problems with 2 risers per molex, which would imply using only one Riser per molex cable.

This is really helpful, I guess only option that I have in this moment is to use Molex as supply line for risers. I guess that with what I'm doing 2 risers on one Molex should be just fine.

I would like to thank you all, for all the tips you gave me and you support. I will leave this topic open for a day more, maybe there is something more that I should know or directly connected to my problem.

Thank you all!
148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Advice regarding risers and GPUs on: April 11, 2018, 07:01:37 PM
So the cards are using power from 8pin and 6 pin cables first, and if that isnt enough, they are getting some from the PCI slot so that they dont overload the motherboard (as they were originally designed to be in MB slots)? Is that true?

That would explain that blinking led lamp for abnormal power use in my case, if its true. But 8-pin powering line should be enough for supplying GTX 1070 which require 150w? Also if that is true, that would also explain my problem of overheating riser cables.
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Advice regarding risers and GPUs on: April 11, 2018, 08:19:29 AM
Im using Sata to feed riser and the PSU to feed 6 Vega 64.... no problem at all.

Its only a problem with low end cards that draw juice from the riser....
check the sata connector temp with your finger.

Well I'm not sure if its ok to call GTX1070 a low end card, but maybe you are right about it taking power from riser (I don't see why tho, because I power GPU with 8-pin power line). That would explain overheating, but on the other hand people say that SATA can't give enough power for risers. If you don't have the same problems like I have, than you are good... maybe.

I power gpu and riser with one 8pin from psu that splits into 8pin (to gpu) + 6pin (to riser).

Which PSU and GPU you have if its not a secret? Because I would rather supply riser from same line as GPU if its possible for me, than from molex.
150  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin price reaches $20.000 this year? on: April 10, 2018, 07:57:12 PM
I doubt it can reach that height this year, tho some people believe it could. In time... probably it could and will, but hype that lead to such price rising was really strong. I doubt another hype like that could happen this year, but there are other things that could lead to price rising so... At least its not impossible right.

When we think about bitcoin price in the future we must always believe that everything is possible, last year was great year and if we don't see some huge rise this year it will be happen in next year. What can lead to price rise ask yourself, and you have all the answers around. Where bitcoin was two years ago, where it is now, where will be in  next two years? Its progressing, going forward and backward, but look prices in every April before this year? Bitcoin made a good run, will it continue to do that, its very possible! For now I give bitcoin 50-50 chances to recover previous ath in this year, I will rethink about this odds in month.

Everything IS possible, there is no doubt about that. But sometimes things just doesn't work as we wanted, no matter how much we wanted and no matter how much we were positively feeling. At the end we all face the reality one way or another. But if Bitcoin survive all that is going on atm (and I totally believe it will), I guess in time its value can only rise. Looking back on its price in every April brings hope, but it proves nothing. Different things could occur this time. But even if bitcoins doesn't reach $20k again this year or any other, I agree that it was a good run like you said. All of us will rethink odds in month or so.  Wink
151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Advice regarding risers and GPUs on: April 10, 2018, 07:24:08 PM
Don't connect 2 cards to the same SATA cable: SATA does not support such current.
Use SATA for one and Molex or 6 pin for the other card, or another SATA cable if your PSU came with 2 SATA cables.

I forgot to mention, also I edited main post so that there is no confusion in the future. I used two different SATA lines to supply those two risers, I didn't put both on one. Supplying with two separated SATA cables is off.
So you say that I will not have issue if I supply riser on same power line as GPU? Also, wouldn't that be better than supplying it with Molex?
152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Advice regarding risers and GPUs on: April 10, 2018, 07:07:05 PM
Recently I got two  GTX 1070 G1 Gaming 8G GPUs, and bought 2 risers for them. With those risers I got SATA powering cables, so I connected them and everything worked fine... or so I thought. Luckily not long after I have discovered that those SATA powering cables are overheating. First I thought that those cables was of low quality and got new ones. But that didn't help. So I looked online for explanation and I have found some. Connecting those SATA was wrong choice, because they can not give enough power for risers if I understood correctly.

What I want to know is, is changing this SATA cables for 6-pin only solution or is there others, and if so which? Also I found out that powering risers from same line as you GPU is good choice, is that correct? Won't it took too much power from that line and leave GPU with less than sufficient power? Also recently I notice that Led lamp for power is blinking in random intervals, which indicate abnormal power supply and I'm not sure why. Because this GPUs requires 150W each and PSU that I have should have enough power to supply them both.

I have MasterWatt Lite 230V 700W PSU 80% certified.

EDIT: Sorry, forgot to mention. I used two separate SATA lines for powering those two risers. Also I have two separated lines of 8-pins for supplying GPUs.

154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 7 More Thoughts On Crypto After Another Five Months Down The Rabbit Hole on: April 09, 2018, 08:49:22 PM
Crypto is a bubble... for now. Most of crypto are made to be currencies, and when people stop using them like they are assets and start using them for what they are made, bubbles will stop.
But I agree that governments are biggest threat for crypto. A lot depends from their decisions. But I guess that all out ban of crypto is almost impossible, because there are positive sides of crypto from which governments could benefit.
7. Don’t Hate The Haters. Love The HODL’ers - I'm not sure I agree with this. It would be bad if people only kept their coins. That would leading nowhere, but I guess its better to be a HODLer than a hater. Wink
155  Economy / Speculation / Re: Cryptocoins are in a recovering mode on: April 09, 2018, 08:20:27 PM
Tho worst is behind us I guess, yet the danger is not all gone. We much stay positive and support Bitcoin as much as we can. Soon people will realize that crypto is not as weak as they thought, and new investors should come along. I guess Bitcoin's price is like yo-yo, it goes up and down. I suppose we can expect a little increase in its price, after all this was a big dip. But honestly no one can predict how the price will behave, we can only wait and watch.
156  Other / Off-topic / Re: Hype dies and then Reality Strikes! on: April 08, 2018, 06:01:57 PM
True that but I don’t believe it is just only Hype man. I have belief that Bitcoin will rise very high. And I will become profited. Don’t break heart man. It makes me sad.

Yes, we are in this situation because of Hype... among other things. Bitcoin could and probably will rise again, but how much... well not as much as you would like that's for sure.
But know one thing and remember it well. There is no room for emotions when it comes to trading and crypto market in general. You would be better of without them, trust me. So no matter if you end up with profit or with loss, emotions will only make trouble for you. We would all like to get profit, but don't let your emotions guide you. That way even when you receive bad news, you will stay cool headed and would easily think what to do next.
157  Economy / Speculation / Re: More Crash, DIP Is Good for BTC on: April 07, 2018, 07:50:33 PM
When we find the crash we need to utlize and buy the bitcoin as much we can mate.
But many missing that and keep expecting bitcoin to dump in the market that is not at all good.

That is totally right. We must keep the flow of trading going. Because that is the only road that leads to stronger bitcoin with higher value. Many investors are just holding their coins and not doing anything, expecting miracle to happen. Well they will wait for a long time, because miracles doesn't happen often. So it is as you said, buying and selling go hand to hand and when people understand that this dip will be over. Keep it going  Wink
158  Economy / Speculation / Re: More Crash, DIP Is Good for BTC on: April 07, 2018, 07:09:14 PM
More crash is good for BTC market, it mean more people will join in the game and BTC peak Price will be increased by end of the year.
So simply = BTC need to get More Crash in this year to make everyone happy by end of the year.
wht do u think?

Looking at the trend of the crashes in the price of bitcoin from previous years,  I realized that after every major dip, more people get involve with bitcoin because of the cheap and this increases the market cap which ultimately increases the price of bitcoin after some weeks.
However, this dip we are in is a very fatal dip and this made many people afraid of the outcome especially newbies. They are afraid of investing in bitcoin because they are not sure the price will rise again.
Nevertheless, we all know that dip will come to an end one day and there will be a spike in the price of bitcoin so the best thing to do now is to buy more bitcoins and hold.

It is correct that this dip could be fatal for bitcoin. If price doesn't recover a bit, or even worst if it continues to fall, some people could see that as time for bailing out. To some it would be a sign that bitcoins price achieved all it could. And with more people leaving , price would fall and we would be in even worst situation than this one. Chain reaction could happen, and in worst case scenario, it could lead to downfall of bitcoin. But this is just a worst case scenario, which has small chance of happening. We all support bitcoin, and as long as we do it, we have nothing to fear.
159  Economy / Speculation / Re: More Crash, DIP Is Good for BTC on: April 07, 2018, 05:48:44 PM
More cash is always good for Bitcoin and its market, because it would strengthen it. But more cash doesn't necessary mean new people, it could also mean that old investors are feeling safer to invest bigger sums of money. Also, more people and increased cash doesn't mean that at the end of the year peak would be higher. That is determined by something else. And even with more cash in this year, some people would still be unsatisfied. What we need more is, more people that are using Bitcoin.
160  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you agree? on: April 06, 2018, 09:33:09 PM
I have heard similar thing few days ago from a friend, about Tax Day in US and everything. But if I learned something from things that happened in near past is that, we shouldn't trust anyone but our selves and few people that we really trust. I don't deny that I have pessimistic view, and I become sceptical about all news that consider bitcoin. I don't say this couldn't happen, damn I would be really happy if price of bitcoin starts rising. But who knows what will happen, guess we will know for sure after 17th.
