Just ask yourself why JP Morgan is implementing their solution and not Monero's solution in their blockchain ledger

Maybe this is an answer?

So Zooko admits Zcash isn't private after all - Jeez.

Rather good support - I expected a hammering, but some people seem to know a bargain when they see one...

Being able to buy XMR for under $100 is like having a time machine back to 2013. Grin

Looking forward to dumping my Bcash and B2X next month.  I'm counting on Jeff, Roger, Jihan, and Barry pumping both to over >1 BTC for the sake of subsidizing their silly attack forks.

But I expect everyone else (except SHAtoshi) will be doing the same, so XMR may not be any cheaper relative to BTC when people go hedge shopping with their airdrop coins.

As long as the air drop isn't risky becaue of lack of replay protection, expect an initial BTC rise, then diversification of profits into crypto - so XMR today is looking very cheap.

Come next spring I suspect people will be cursing every XMR they ever sold.

The silence is deafening.  It is a good time to trade volatility, hey? It never runs away from you.  Boring for speculators, though.
I think its the calm before the storm, good time to prepare - will be interesting to see what happens on Nov 1 or Nov 15. Some of the smaller coins have already started going crazy, not time for XMR yet =)

It's looking like early on Nov 16th, now, for Segwit2x.  My hunch is the Bitcoin user base is largely fine with the status quo - the Big Blockers / anti SW types already have their BCH, so I can't see S2x being popular with users (meaning one would expect a post-fork dump and a quickly widening price differential in favour BTC).

However, the Replay Protection issue will mean dumping is hesitant and there do seem to be significant forces still behind S2X and even BCH can possibly benefit too, if BTC loses a lot of hash rate to either BCH or S2x.  Signalling is still over 80%, I was hoping to see it drop lower in the run up to the fork, which is a also a concern.

It's definitely more 'potential' trouble than BCH was (and the farcical Bitcoin Gold) and how it will play out is still not certain.

What it means for XMR is hard to tell.  Total victory for BTC will see BTC rise and, (short-term) no help to the XMR price, but ultimately an improving situation and a good Q1 2018 for all.  However, uncertainty in Bitcoin could be bad for the whole market.

So short-term, I hope BTC wins, but long-term we will still not have solved the scaling debate properly and there will be a lot of unsatisfied actors around.

I was thinking the same; not even tumbleweed 'round these parts.

Traded a little, but mostly it's just been undulating with the rises and falls of BTC, steadily pegged not far from the $88 mark in USD the past few days. At least it looks like a steady and robust base for the next rise.  The big game in town is of course BTC, though.

I hope we can grab little limelight sometime soon - just to remind people Monero is a top crypto asset which it's unwise not to keep an eye on.
1406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 24, 2017, 10:50:35 AM
What a strength. What a power. 6% bounce after 1 month downtrend LOL. Any other coin performs better.

We are used to misguided trolls here, it is usually a good sign, in fact.

You are really wasting your time though, we know you're probably a poor fool bein paid, or maybe someone pathetically talking your own book  - but sorry, it just doesn't work here.  Your entire reason for your poorly spelled postings (whatever is is) is simply pointless.
1407  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 23, 2017, 05:48:52 PM
Shit coin or not it's going to be a bloodbath tomorrow on the alt coin market partly because of it.

Tha BTC 'snapshot' is around, about - ten hours' time...

After that do you not expect a corresponding alt bounce?

Imagine, one year ago ?Kozy? paid 1 BTC that I stop to post here.

Today worth 6.000 Dollar Smiley

How did you manage to pull that off?

made a lot of cash by shorting monero what wasn't welcome to see here of course Wink

This fun but almost true meme has been around since they qualified for the Euros (and did commendably well).

Now they just came top of their group to qualify as the smallest country ever to qualify for the World Cup.

The Iceland team; the Honeybadger of football.  Áfram Ísland!
1410  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 19, 2017, 04:49:12 PM
Can somebody give me his advice?

I will repeat the points which have prevented me from ever using Zcash. (ZEC, XZC and Zcash name the same single cryptocurrency.)

I don't trust the "trusted setup".  On the one hand, 6 people are not enough to preclude collusion, or to provide enough eyes to do diligence against trickery.  On the other hand it is too many points of failure, given that the incentive to defect is on the order of at least hundreds of millions of dollars, potentially many billions.

I don't trust the design.  Sigint operatives have subverted NIST standards, inserted backdoors in commercial and open source operating systems, even intercepted hardware being shipped from a vendor and modified it to gain systems access.

Let's consider the known facts about the Zcash team in this light:

Greene is at UMd, and NSA is very tight with UMd. He has publicly stated that zerocash (upon which zcash is based) can be backdoored, in the interests of the government.

Zooko Wilcox, the most visible member if the Zcash team, after whom the currency is named (!!), has also made public statements - and subsequently retracted them - similar to Greene's.

Members of the development team include admitted former Mossad sigint operatives.  And I don't think one ever really leaves the Mossad.  The Mossad cooperates extensively with the U.S. intelligence agencies.

Now let's consider factors unrelated to the specific team:

The mathematics of zk-snarks is not adequately reviewed.  Few people understand it well, and nobody understands it well enough to publish a peer-reviewed proof of its security in any feasible implementation.  Existing proofs address much more narrowly restricted claims, and are easily used as a cover for insidious activities.

Anonymity is only useful if the participants in the anonymity set are many.  The overwhelming majority of Zcash transactions are not anonymous, by design.  This has terrible consequences for the privacy and security of those network participants who choose to use it's purported privacy features.

AlphaBay implemented Zcash on July 1st.  By July 5th their servers were seized, and within days the principal operator was found dead, hanging by the neck in a Bangkok jail cell.

My conclusion:

I can not prove, but on the evidence and facts do believe, that Zcash is an NSA/Mossad honeypot, like Dash, and if you use it in conjunction with an activity which members of the Anglo-Israeli signals intelligence community are incentivized to disrupt, your life is in danger.

I have had extensive experience working with these people, and consider them to be ruthless sociopaths. Nice friends to have, and generally well-meaning and interesting individuals, but sociopaths none the less.  Hitler was kind to animals and children.  As Voltaire observed, if you can be made to believe absurdities, you can be made to commit atrocities.

Edit, in post script:

Besides which, I find it offensively stupid to pay the developers a 20% tax.  I believe in voluntary support of the common good, not stealthy embezzlement.  I am not volunteering to be anyone's tax donkey, let alone volunteering to be subject to invasive surveillance in the process.

Bravo. Quoting this so I can find it again if Zcash is mentioned.  I will of course attribute it to its sagacious author if I ever mention it.
1411  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 19, 2017, 02:16:13 PM

Where do you live?

Why Iceland?

A former constitutional republic situated between Canada and Mexico.

They actually jailed banksters after '08, remote enough to resist waves of eco/war refugees, geothermal power for mining and comfort, high levels of education and social cohesion, hawt hawt women, need I go on?

I used to play a game on internet forums. I'd ask what your top 3 countries would be if you couldn't live in your own country.

I always included Iceland and New Zealand in my top 3. After that it's a tossup. A Scandinavian or Benelux country maybe.

Iceland is wonderful, I go there a lot - actually bought a place there in 2014.  And Jojo is right about the female of the species locally, too.

I keep everything I need there, since one never knows... all I need is my wallet and a flight.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valenki

Sorry this time it will be no different Smiley As always your uptrend ends here mates Smiley XMR lost at the game. BTC should only burst if some war at world will start... Othertime prolly doubletop... RSI gives the 1 WEEK DIVERGENCE at BTC! We got lower high at RSI and higher high of price! THIRD TIME since april 2017 at BTC. Only break of 6000 USD in less than week will negate this scenario... You will think noMore will take place of BTC? LOL Smiley No way... at BTC the 2013/2014 scenario of doubletop at 1100 usd...
no wonder you lost money

you are using meme analysis

funny how people still do this   Huh

next time go into the casino. there you atleast have some nice chicks around you while losing money

you say divergence is a meme analysis ? OK...
rsi, doubletop is enough to detect that you do meme analysis

and you even wonder why you lost money? you didnt trade. you gambled Wink

So you say you are at market and stock exchange for 1 year? Smiley Gambler is someone who thinks something should rise forever and make money because the ppl will flow their money limitless to the market... Nice newbie.

Hey Jr.
I realise you're new around here, but we are largely holders on this thread, we don't gamble - we choose the best coin as we see it, invest in it and stick with it.

And it works. Some of us here bought at under 50c and we are fine with any price a few thousand per cent up.  Some us bought under $10 dollars, some higher still.  But we will ALL be fine, thank you, as we are buying truly fungible (look it up?) money.

Because of Monero (you are spelling it wrong, but I will forgive your obvious lack of reading skills) we are doing OK.  Many of us hold Bitcoin too.  But for the better growth we got into Monero in the past few years and are very happy with our gains.

In fact, so happy we don't need to troll whatever coins you are into because we just don't care.  Now run along you ill-informed ingrate and stop bothering people probably far more intelligent than you who probably just think you are, frankly, making a fool of yourself.

Oh, and Jr?  Go and do some research - teach yourself something useful?  Look up fungible and truly private money. Then have a think.
1413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 11, 2017, 08:46:33 PM
ETH Hardforks it should go past 1000USD. XMR? lol noMore Smiley Even the upcorrection is weak...
hahaha you again

you cant stop crying can you?

just take your loss and move on

Anyone whose name looks like a cross between 'wank' and 'alone' (and is a Jr. 'member') is probably not worth taking too seriously.

Other than he is upping the Monero Troll Level Indicator to: Imminent Explosion Level.

Must be a lot of worried shorts out there for this level of FUD attempts.

Good sign!
1414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 11, 2017, 12:50:37 PM
Yeah the Verge pump failed badly.
Nobody was stupid enough to buy that garbage while the developers and shills were waiting to sell it.  Grin

bitcoin rules everything ...  Cool  XMR i'll buy back @ .007ish

You mean 'never' then.
1415  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 10, 2017, 06:24:01 AM
XMR/BTC RSI is oversold and trolls coming into the thread. Good sign, bottom shorters are in.  Grin

There are a few trolls sure but are there ENOUGH trolls yet to positively call the bottom?

Well, there's at least one persistent (lying) one that seems to be getting frutsrated we are not takig him seriously.  We must be at least 'almost there' in Troll Positive Indicator terms.

1416  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 09, 2017, 09:12:20 PM
Ah, the trolls are here.

Damn good sign, it means good things are ahead.

They are shorting a bit late, let's see how it all pans out.  However, mark my words, if they are all in here, it means they are talking a book that is on the edge of failing.  Or why would they bother?

Shorting Monero is a risky business...  I trust they will find out.
1417  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 09, 2017, 09:03:31 PM

Try to sit in XMR for over ONE YEAR riding the rocket of ETH, rocket of LTC, rocket of DASH. Then look at XMR and make a decision - Fuck that shit - SELL the lowest expecation coin. As mentioned noMore. noMore long term in this crap...
i really still dont understand your frustration
  • if im correct you made good amounts of money with numerous coins
  • one coins is underperforming in terms of your epectations

m8 i made money too. pulled my initial investments and now only trade with pure profits.
i do that because it makes it easier to keep emotions out of the game which is the #1 reason people lose money imo. and you are showing tons of emotions right now. i really dont think this is good for you.

i hope i can calm you down a bit. because it isnt all that dramatic m8

grab a tit or beer and get away from trading for a while bruh
Frustration? Man... Those are only tears in the rain. That I put money into XMR believing it will overcome LTC... And did not put more pennies into DASH or sth.

Great idea - go for DASH, come back in a year and have a good gloat, I will happily compare relative performance of the coins with you.

I am sure a genius like you will be right.
1418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 08, 2017, 10:27:25 PM

What's next?

BTC at 10K USD, DASH and ETH at 0.1, XMR at 0.022?

I feel disgusted.

Wouldn't that be a price of $220 though? more than double the now price.

Too right.  And he is still disgusted, personally (like you) I would not be.

Mathematical value understanding in this thread often perplexes me.
I mean - if you want to cash out, how do you judge it?  No one seems to count their wealth by the seemingly obvious metric of 'fiat value'.

Who at home tells their other half 'Guess what, I am now worth 'X' Bitcoin', rather than 'Guess what, I am now worth X thousand dollars (or EUR / GBP)'. Houses, cars and holidays are not generally advertised in terms of their Bitcoin price.

I know how I calibrate my spreadsheet...
1419  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 08, 2017, 09:37:50 PM
I gave up on Monero and switched to NEO... Wish me luck Smiley

Quite a shame, I liked this money... Wish you the best, Monero !

OK: Good luck.

I think you might need it.
1420  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 08, 2017, 06:59:12 PM
I cannot believe we are back under 0.02.

Fuck me.

It's more BTC rising than XMR falling - against USD it's a still $90.

Hardly catastrophic.
