Yeah I've to admit it has a quite impressive steepness...

the die has been cast Smiley

thanks for the write up .. we wait for the essence of your next report .. very thorough I would say and thanks for taking the time, please upload some of your precious photos of the event..

How are photos being uploaded, there's no direct means via the forum, so I presume I will need to sign up to Flickr or something??

yep It seems so. No direct upload. Just do like you did to celebrate the 100th page on the other KnC thread Smiley

Yes, but I just pulled those from google using the pic URL button, up top. That said the question was rhetorical, I just wondered if someone had a better solution than a sign-up, and they did Smiley

sure. I just wanted to confirm that no direct upload is available and while at it I was lucky enough to discover a new way to upload pics anonymously Tongue

A heads-up I have a meeting in town at 6pm, which will put this on ice later, I aim to restart after, but there is a some travel time back and fourth, though the break will likely be welcome!

thanks and take your time after all you're doing this for free (modulo tips)

Ok, look I'm about to sit down and tackle this now. I flew back yesterday and had some bits to sort out due to being away the past couple of days. At some point I also need to make the bank as they were shut the entire weekend and it was past 5pm when I made it through passport control etc. yesterday.

I have hours worth of audio recording to go through.

[...]

No one is getting knocked in queue order, it will all be handled fairly, just don't be impatient and please for their sake appreciate they operate on the GMT+1 time format even if bizarrely Stockholm is in complete daylight come 3am in the morning!!

So two good news in a short time span: Bitcoinorama is still alive and kicking, BTC value grew up just over 110$ few sec ago  Tongue

For what is worth I really appreciate the effort you're putting in reporting back from KnC's openday

Yea why guess when you can ask Smiley If someone got some specific technical questions i can route the through and we see what comes out of it.

sure as soon as I'll get new ones I'll let you know. unluckily I'm not a tech guy, or at least not an expert in micro electronics
1406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 11, 2013, 03:03:27 PM

thanks for the info. this is quite precious. if memory serve someone looking at a picture taken during the first openday has speculated about the use of structured asic chips from easic.

I found the post I was referring to

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=214285.msg2410136#msg2410136

an old but good write up on going the other way with this..  (std cell asic to fpga)

http://www.altera.com/literature/an/an311.pdf

I think this is why kncminer is wondering why someone like BFL just didnt port their fpga over to asic like they are

thanks for the link
good stuff thanks

You do realize you are tracked on these forums right?

sorry but i'm slow, what do you mean by tracked?

Not hunted down if that's your worry Smiley
I feel better now  Grin

You're logged, recorded, eventually parsed by anyone checking on you.

nothing new sadly...

If anyone is interested in a pre-order number to transfer to their account let me know!
I have just succesfully completed a pre-order transfer with user 'notung' for some reference. As you can see I don't speak out to much on the forum, but I have a paid order with KNC for what it's worth and done one transfer now.

I have 3 numbers available for transfer:
#3X  (1 unit)
#36X (1 unit)
#36X (2 units)

I am aware that KNC does not deliver in batches, but the above is at least some guarantee to be with the early birds.
Offer what you want for them, especially the #3X one is a nice one for early delivery!
Best offers within 2 hours from now get the pre-orders.

ahh looking forward, just few hours and idiots like you disappear from all KNC related threads with their fucking offers.

I know people have trustissues here, been reading along for a while Wink I am just not the type of guy that likes internet arguments, I'm relatively new to bitcoin, mostly readin a lot trying to filter out the crap.
If a guy like bitcoinorama (one of the few 'normal' people in this thread) or another trusted member wants to escrow that is fine for me.
'people ask me why it's so hard to trust people,
and i ask them why is it so hard to keep a promise'

Very OT. Not sure how this relates to KNC.

sorry then. I didn't mean to sidetrack the thread.

Just thought that the info I posted means  no further delay in avalon delivery then higher difficulty in the short-mid term for every miner and also for people who bought knc miners. I do agree by the way looking at my post know it seems quite a bit OT

Does the below affect KnC? Do they use Avalon chips?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=230157.0;topicseen

little bit OT maybe but I just got this from "avalon asic" news letter:

Quote
Not quiet ready yet, but since we did promise an update over the weekend, here's a sneak peak of the exciting two weeks that will follow.

For those who did not see Yifu Guo's panel at the conference can check it out below
http://youtube.com/watch?v=LY1xgGiejIc | http://youtube.com/watch?v=UtVx26LlNXA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nD237oF7cCo

Let's get started.

First, there will be no power supply cable included in the box, you will have to acquire you own, it is an standard ATX power cable, get the socket for your country, we did this to save time allowing all the packaging of the Avalons to be uniform.

To summarize and recap the talk at the conference:

Scaling from few hundred units that we had a few month to prepare for into a few thousand units in less than a month have proven difficult, we must admit that we have bite off more than we can chew and suffering from "third-party dates", which are ever-changing. We are playing catch up and expect to soon see the light at the end of this tunnel.

Facts:

New SMT line is now fully operational as of this weekend.
New shipping channel secured and tested.
Sample chips has began shipping.
Majority of all the parts have arrived and ready,
which also means we finally will have time to go over tickets, and send out those trade-in payment emails.

What you can expect in the next newsletter should consist of the following:

photo tour of the new Avalon factory,
the operating crew, which have doubled in size, assembling.
piles and piles of packaged Avalons ready to ship.

Sit tight, it won't be long now.
1411  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin at $112! on: June 07, 2013, 04:20:55 PM
Bitpay is cashing out kncminer's pre-order bitcoin for USD, i guess that's in the magnitudes of millions of USD Cheesy

I thought you didn't have to pay upfront for KNC's?

They start to accept real payments a few days ago. Tuesday if memory serves. Actually they are selling you pre-orders.
1412  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 07, 2013, 12:25:34 PM
SO, trigger is pulled. Saturn is payed for.
Now, we just sit back and mentally visualize the blockdifficulty gently rocking onto the shores of 150 mil by the time we get these babies Smiley

if that's the blockdifficulty gently rocking onto the shores of 150 mil i don't wanna know what a tsunami would look like Cheesy

My calculations are: 60-80 mil at about mid august, when "hopefully" my 130 bfl gh shows up. Early april order.
Then i see difficulty at least doubling, by the time knc gear starts showing up. That is if there are no significant delays on their part. And even these figures are kinda optimistic, if you want me to be real honest. We could all be mercilessly crashing into the concrete wave breakers of 250 mil, if everybody and his uncle starts buying 10-100K batches from avalon and bfl in 3 months time.

You'l probably just end up being dissapointed if you go any lower than this. And hey if it actually does end up being lower, pleasant surprise Smiley

Please let me know if im Waaaay off on either side of these figures.

if you care to share your data point I will check it carefully Smiley

anyhow based on all the players I'm aware of I had estimated something like 55mil by the 15th of September. Adding to it 10% just for the sake of being conservative and you get circa 61 mil. Based on the same data point I've estimated something like 135mil (148 if you had 10%) by Dec 31th.

Could be everything for what is worth.

Are you sure they are using an OrSoC paypal account?

Anyway regarding that paypal issue just google for "paypal freeze" and you will be surprised by the high number of blocked account cases .
This could be seen as a extenuating circumstance if you want to look at it in a positive way.

To be honest I really do hope that on tomorrow's open day KnC/OrSoC will clear any doubts about projects viability. But looking at how things are going on recently it could be nothing more than wishful thinking.

Look bro, you have 24 hours to give the guys going any requests you may have to 'clear up' anything you may be uncertain of.

There's no need of asking anything more than what's already on the plate.  I'm well aware of the list of questions the community had contributed to create in this and other thread. I find it pretty exhaustive. I'm only saying that the last few issues (Mars cancelled, paypal payment method suspended, quite questionable T&C) left a bad taste in my mouth.  It's a matter of 'faith' there's no way for me to ask any kind of questions that will change the way I see it at the moment.  That's my gut feeling.

Don't be shy, PM Daggeteo, JohnyJ, 600Watt and ask them for clarity on a), b), c)...etc. whatever concerns you may have. You have no excuse to complain about anything after today, that you can have closure on tomorrow.

I'm not shy by the way and neither I'm searching for excuses to voice my concerns, really. I just want to share my opinion with the community.

Could well be trolls from this forum trying their best to stop Paypal from accepting payment. ORSoC are a known and legitimate development team and there seem to be a few people here hellbent in ensuring they don't succeed in this...

same thing happend the creator of minecraft when his paypal account suddenly jumped to 750k. paypal freeze it until they check out whats going on

Paypal is known to be picky when dealing with accounts freezing. It's common knowledge. Even a person like me, that has zero paypal based business, knows that you have to tell them in advance if you forecast a great spike in your incoming cash flow, otherwise this kind of thing will trigger their anti-fraud mechanism in the 99% of the times.

One thing that concerns me is the language used around mars voucher system -

"Upgrade protection built in to any purchase with vouchers for up to $2000 off of any Jupiter purchase"

What exactly does "up to" mean, they could turn around and give you $100 off a Jupiter and still be accurate to their description.

I think the whole voucher and pre order system needs to be fully clarified before everyone starts throwing money at them, me included Wink

I have a spot in the 1-500 list, but this above needs clarifying before I can make any decisions.

i concur.

this "up to 2000" has always bothered me because of its ambiguity. when are you entitled to get a full 2000$ voucher?  Because it seems that situations where you will get less than 2k would exist. Am I right?

In answer to the VAT, 600w is indeed correct, I emailed as I was under the impression originally it was inclusive;

"Our site is a available from all the countries in the world. We list all our prices in USD without any taxes or Dilevery included for those reasons.

All taxes and dilevery costs are calculated  at the point of checkout."

So unless you can claim it back, it's just become more expensive if anticipated an inclusive price.

Mars = $3,493.75
Saturn = $4,743.75
Jupiter = $8,743.75

I was under the impression that VAT didn't apply if the product was being shipped out of the EU?  Was that totally wrong?  (I'm in the US)

From Sam reply to my question:

All taxes and dilevery costs are different depending on where in the world you are.  For those reasons we list all prices without any taxes or dilevert costs included.

Eh? Delivery costs to different parts of the world may be different, but you tend to pay the taxes of the country you are purchasing the goods FROM.

I'm not an expert, just quoting Sam reply (spelling errors included).
