In answer to the VAT, 600w is indeed correct, I emailed as I was under the impression originally it was inclusive;
"Our site is a available from all the countries in the world. We list all our prices in USD without any taxes or Dilevery included for those reasons.
All taxes and dilevery costs are calculated at the point of checkout."
So unless you can claim it back, it's just become more expensive if anticipated an inclusive price.
Mars = $3,493.75 Saturn = $4,743.75 Jupiter = $8,743.75
I was under the impression that VAT didn't apply if the product was being shipped out of the EU? Was that totally wrong? (I'm in the US) From Sam reply to my question: All taxes and dilevery costs are different depending on where in the world you are. For those reasons we list all prices without any taxes or dilevert costs included.

How does ordering work?
You click preorder on their website and it sends you an email
surely this is not the queue.
It seems it works like that the id you get by email is your place in the queue. It's just a matter of trust. They don't want to ask you money until there's proof of a working prototype. They want to differentiate themselves from BFL I suppose. It seems weird and required a bit of trust also on buyers part

as far as i understood the pricing vat is not included.
if you can supply a vat number it will not be added.
I've asked to Sam directly via email and I can confirm that "[knc] list all prices without any taxes or delivery costs included"

First two avalon batches were priced in dollar and both with a price of 1500$ circa.

I'm surprised there's not SSL cert. on their login page.
I don't know if they fixed it in the meantime but it seems to me that all the site parts are "covered" by a valid SSL cert (at least both chrome and firefox are happy with it). And if I try to access to kncminer.com using normal http protocol I'm automatically redirected to the https version.

should be sometime this week isn't this the right time for Sam/KnCer to speak up? just saying ...

Defxor and Toksu are both Swedish and have expressed interest.
Toksu apparently has no interest in purchasing from KnC (unsure as to why - respectfully - he follows this thread then?!) would appreciate a contribution to travel, which is fair, so anyone else willing to assist?
Defxor has a friend who is an ex-ASIC dev and bitcoin miner.
Both sound perfect.
Anyone else free and capable??
sorry I live way too far. if it had been a Jupiter prototype I would have done it, maybe

- I've decided not to invest in KNC or any other new BTC mining equipment.
sorry for bothering goinng OT, but do you mind to share the reasoning on which you based this decision? I think the train has gone for now - if you don't already have mining equipment in hand, chances are slim you will be able to recoup your investment. Also, there are too many uncertain variables (delivery time, actual performance, difficulty rise, exchange rate, power cost, alternative coins) for my taste. Just buying/keeping BTC is a better investment, as I see it. got it. thanks

Just got a reply from Sam now
andddd..... ? Nothing really interesting i was just asking the way they determine queue placement in case a customer (me) place pre-order for "KNC Bitcoin miner numbers 1-500", a mars and jupiter. And this Is his response: We will put all of your orders together and make sure you get the place in the queue with the lowest number.

I'm not saying that "pure" difficulty in itself is the cause of higher prices. I'm saying the rise in difficulty means more people are getting involved in bitcoin. Higher difficulty encompasses media attention, and many other factors. It just seems that the correlation is higher difficulty which includes all the many factors discussed = a higher bitcoin price.
Agreed, but for all intensive purposes, KNCminer have to assume today's price is likely to be a determining factor for future consideration when purchasing their products, and they absolutely cannot ignore the effect of BFL and Avalon getting their products to market, including the effect 10's if not 100's of thousands of bulk Avalon chips in the hands of technically savvy and very motivated DIYers. I believe in Bitcoin and alternative cryptocurrencies and what they stand for. I don't deny their FPGA is yet another technological achievement, but believe there are other avenues they could and should adapt that FPGA design as opposed to solely Bitcoin to enable a proportionately better return on investment to their customers, especially any early adopters that support them in this endeavour. Such as Litecoin. I agree with FlappySocks' penultimate post with the above taken into account, realistically with the proposed volitality of new tech entering the market and the disruptive influence that will have on Bitcoin's difficulty any devices have to at the very least aim to return ROI within a two month timeframe, that won't happen with 6 Gh/s FPGA now. This as much as secures the network, has to be focused upon being a profitable venture as we are investors as well as enthusiasts! ohh yeah you can forget about the 6gh FPGA providing a 2 month ROI. I was speaking of their Jupiter Unit I think it will still be extremely profitable when it hits the market assuming an August the latest ship date. A lot of the DIY Avalon chips will probably take that long If not longer to ship also anyway. Avalon still hasn't shipped batch #2. I'm sure there will probably be delays in ordering thousands of chips, having people receive their share of chips, having DIYers built boards, shipping those boards back to people. And even if all those things happen and KNC does ship along side with them, I think the Jupiter will provide a nice 2mo ROI worst case given it's massive 250gh power if not more by the time they tweak it. Only thing to do is wait and see what KNC announces. Then go from there. They replied to my email they said at LEAST $2000 off of Jupiter.
lucky you. I sent a message with a few questions through their contact form almost 2 hours ago, still no answer. what email address did you use? anyway if true that means that we're going to pay mars only 795$. it seems a fair price as long as jupiter will be delivered in a reasonable time frame. Use the sales one. Sam replied to me directly. His direct email is sam@kncminer.com sent an email to sam@ on the 26th of April... still no answer

Thank you, but the fisrst thing I checked about the list does not seem up to speed, according to bitcoin24 "The prosecutor office of Berlin has confiscated the account of BTC24 at the Commerzbank." Imho this does not justyfy outting Commerzbank on the list. I will work my way trough the rests when I get back from work. Unfortunately I'm a bitcoin24 customer, hence somehow I've followed the evolution since the blockade (Luckily enough I hadn't had a lot of money into it though). It seems everything started cause Deutsche Bank had some problem with phishing that is somehow linked with a bitcoin24 owner bank account, anyway is it a quite long story, read more in those links: http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1c7utl/bitcoin24com_the_polish_authority_closed_your_our/c9f6s6whttps://bitcoin-24.com/ (there are a few official documents linked there) of course a lot of other factors played a role, e.g. the naivety of bitcoin24 owner ps since yesterday it is possible to withdraw BTC from bitcon24, unfortunately the same is not possible for fiat, be it EUR or USD, and more to the point it will take at best few months to get it back :/

anyway if true (2000$ vouchers) that means that we're going to pay mars only 795$. it seems a fair price as long as jupiter will be delivered in a reasonable time frame.
How is $795 a fair price when BFL is offering a product with the same hashing power for $275? https://products.butterflylabs.com/5-gh-s-bitcoin-miner.htmlIf what KNC have said is true, buying a mars would mean that: - you get 2000$ discount on jupiter, - you'll get the same place in the order queue for the Jupiter purchase - you'll be able to get Mars quickly since, it will be "available for purchase in the next few days." Having said that we also know that BFL 5Ghs miner exists but we don't know when you will get it if you place an order now. so taking into account all above points it seems fair to say that 795 is fair price Obviously all the KNC statements made so far have to be true, and I'm not sure about that. To be honest I have to admit I would have chosen a different plan if I were in their shoes , let's say a higher focus on getting Jupiter ready asap leaving the Mars alone; or if they had to gather some money for the Jupiter development I'd had preferred a lower price for Mars, let say something near the 1500$. That said where do you get the $795 price and how is it fair?
2795$ - 2000$ = 795$ Yeah I agree the Jupiter would completely change the game. If it's -$2000 for people who buy the Mars then that is only $5000 which is somewhat reasonable for the amount of hashing power it offers. The question is how reliable it is, how efficient is it, and I agree why does it need water cooling and how will that work?
I do agree with you. Reliability, effectiveness, and *time* are key factors. And it would be greatly appreciated if KNC would be so kind to share more info about those in the near future, the sooner the better.

Hashrate will hit 60 mil this summer, the fgpa miner might not get much btc
i've just read through your last update here: http://organofcorti.blogspot.it/2013/04/914-asic-earnings-23-april-2013.htmlI can only say impressive analysis, keep up the good work. 60 mil ? which unit, Ghash/s or hash/s? if the former is true that means almost ten times more than now in a few months... wow. serious question: on what data do you base your estimation? This guy does a chart and updates it regularly. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178051.msg1919283#msg1919283many thanks for the link didn't know about that i will take look
