Prediction: Monero's price will double in the next two weeks. The growing awareness and use of Coinhive will be the catalyst...
Wow, yeah I hope so... that'd be great I suppose at least the "competition conversation" has evolved 'up' to a slightly better candidate lately, i.e. XMR not being compared to Dash(LOL) as much now the media's moved on, trying to compare to ZCash. But, only slightly, LOL. Srsly both suck for totally different reasons Comparison and imitation is respect. Monero is now the gold standard, the one to beat. These coins seek to argue they are 'better' than Monero, because they are threatened. Ergo, we are the leading private (and therefore fungible) crypto.

25hashcoins trying to bash monero makes me feel very comfortable about my investment, I don't know about you.
Trolls are always a good sign for Monero. The last time they piled in was just before we went from 0.010558 up to three times that at the back end of August. We just need a few more to prove the strength of the bullish sign. One pathetic attempt isn't quite enough, but its a start! Buy when the trolls arrive? Trolling seems to be an indicator, yes. They came in force to give us a kicking in August and then look what happened. It's not that scientific - but seems more than purely anecdotally sound. Also it makes it fun when the trolls do come in...

Lol not a zcash fan but its coming for your lunch hard. RIP.
Yeah... but crazy thing is it doesn't know what we are having for lunch, where we are having it, how much lunch we have, or who we have invited to eat with us. So... It will be staying hungry. Ha! Priceless. Capslock, stick with us, you're an asset.

What I don't understand about the Globee funding proposal is as follows:
Globee is a for-profit company that is accepting donations to implement its payment processing system. Globee is putting up half of the capital and asking for the remaining 50% to be donated by the Monero community. Per the proposal, Globee is going to recover their full investment first. After Globee has recovered their 4500 XMR investment, subsequent recovery will be split 50/50 between the Monero community (redeposited into general donation fund) and Globee for the next 9000 XMR. All further commissions that Globee attains will solely be profit for the company.
So, Globee takes an equal risk to the Monero community, but their risk is mitigated first (their 4500 XMR is recovered first). Furthermore, they make potentially a significant return on investment, whereas the Monero community donators do not achieve that benefit at all.
Can someone please explain to me, why at all such a proposal should be funded?
Because it will benefit ALL hodlers of Monero if it goes ahead. Logic says a small proportion of your stash to improve hugely the value of the rest is in everyone's interest. So far this has been Monero's strength - that is, its community is prepared to back it, with no premine etc. it is entirely voluntarily funded. This is part of why Monero is so admired.

Justin is not going to the UK? Any reason why not..? Will support something, but I wanted to support this. No UK though, once again we get missed out - seems a little odd. I am sure I am not the only UK based Monero fan.

It wasn't my revelation, but in this case - given her long term sceptical view of Bitcoin, it is IMHO entirely plausible it was indeed her.
I find the idea utterly bizarre. It could only have been someone mentally ill or paid a genuinely huge amount of money to have put that much effort in for so long. It was truly relentless, almost every hour of the day for years. And whoever was paying a huge amount of money must've been mentally ill too. She wasn't paid and she still thinks we're all a weird 'cult' and posts every negative Bitcoin story she finds on her Twitter feed. Some people like to troll, she accused Bitcoiners of supporting kiddie porn, I am not sure she posted any IIRC. EDIT: spelling - post wine posts!

I think generally people are all too quick in this thread to make all sorts of "revelations" about people that are based on very little.
yeah yeah spiff we all know you are George Soros Crap, caught with my pants down, apparently also a common occurrence in this thread :-) I gave mine to some guy who seemed nice, now he seems to be launching an ICO using them! What is the world coming to?

She knows her Biotcoiners!

Ahem - Wasn't she NotLambChop? If so, she already knows the WO thread rather well. But she would still be welcome, nonetheless. Where the hell did this meme come from? That human garbage spent 20 hours a day posting gay porn for several years. Where would a professional journalist with some of life find the time to do that? NLC did disappear shortly after someone on here 'outed' her. And she was not always 'pro-BTC' as a writer, far from it. She writes for the FT Alphaville section, which is sort of the 'fringe' of FT - initially just as a stringer (freelancer), so she would have had plenty of time. She's a Brit and smart, but it is entirely plausible NLC was her. Whoever NLC was, was a damn good troll. She writes acerbically and well, but so did NLC tbh.

If we truly believe we might be entering a bear to 3800 or 2800 or beyond... why would we stay in Crypto? It is far more profitable to sell for USD, pay the taxes and buy back in next year at 70% cost or perhaps half price.
Honestly, because it's a pain in the ass, and there any many opportunities within the cryptospace to accumulate more XMR and BTC with greater profit outcomes than by going through FIAT. I agree with this, and another point... once you are used to the liquidity freedom of crypto, it's addictive. You are in control of your money moving back into fiat is painful as you introduce slowness, fees, and counterparty risk. As someone who lived through the great BTC trough of 2014-17 I just feel very twitchy about the current bitcoin price action. You are not alone, it's not the dumps I fear, it's the long, long wait for us to get back to a price I know we've already reached. After the 2013/14 Gox crash, it was years of waiting for prices to get excited about again... Mind you, I found Monero along that dull grind back to where we are now.

Sure, "Bitcoin" has its name on it. This is a huge advantage
lol it has way more then a well known brand name.... Good to see popping in, mate. Still going strong here, we managed to rescue the thread. Hope you're well.

HAHAHAHA complete monero shill FUD article! 0 proof! Thanks for Proof of Butthurt! Look, as Anon136 kindly pointed out, you still have time to buy Monero, before Dash is totally unmasked and it's too late. Alternatively, try therapy to get over your indoctrination?

This is just brilliant - the blustering dash head comments underneath are hilarious. Monero tech: BEATS THEM ALL.

Damn - downloaded Core 15.0 for my Mac, went through all loading OK, then crashed just after it said 'done loading'. Tried a few times, restarted, tried again. Gave up.
Now back on 14.2 and need to totally download whole blockchain (since old one re-org'd by 15.0).
Grrrr.... Maybe wait for 15.x if you're on a 64Bit Mac?
If it is crashing consistently at the point where the main GUI window should open, you should try restarting with the '-resetguisettings' switch. Thanks, but I confess I have no idea how to do that! It would require me getting into terminal and using CLI, which I am not sure how to do.
