1481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bitcoin software on the phone on: April 11, 2018, 09:18:48 AM
Digging a bitcoin through phone will eventually make your phone to die pretty sooner. Trashing your phone to get 10-20 satoshis is not good. If it's a overheating phone like redmi or some other, then you may end up in fire accident by losing yourself. Do you think that bitcoin can be downloaded by having a ultra fast network connection as if you are downloading tons and tons of data from the internet? You think that a decent network connection can generate a lot of coins, but it's not the case, you need to spend unimaginable computational power to mine coins.

Please read what is hashing and come back here and ask the question or try to buy a ASIC miner and start digging (mining) up. That too you need to join a pool to get a decent reward to pay for your electricity.  If you are OK with losing your phone for 10-20 satoshis you can proceed with this...
1482  Economy / Speculation / Re: what is the relation between btc and other alt ? on: April 11, 2018, 03:19:03 AM
There is literally no relation between btc and other alts. Each and every alt has been derived from btc and everything is somehow or other related to btc block chain. Though most of the alts tend to follow the btc graph pattern and they do dump and pump when btc does the same, but some unique alts like eth, neo and monero are worth notable. The coin develops in price exponentially when there are huge supporters in favour of the coin or it has been good in development.

If you have alts which has shitty scope of raising in future, sell them all and transfer them to btc, eth, monero or some other good coins. It's up to you to decide by keeping the coin or selling them. If your alts are in Top 50 in coinmarketcap you need to definitely hold them otherwise sell them.
1483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PIRL Masternode Server Specs on: April 10, 2018, 02:07:33 PM
PIRL has been a good coin which has the potential to raise in the future. There are currently 2 types of masternodes of the Pirl coin. They can be categorized as

1. Storage Masternode :

PIRL states that “users will be able to offer digital downloadable goods directly on the marketplace” using the storage masternode. One can use the storage masternode for backups. Backups can range from photos, music, movies and games.

2. Content Masternode :

Content Masternode uses IPFS technology that hosts files on Poseidon Marketplace which can be used in future. You haven't read about IPFS technology, you can check them here

You can buy a PIRL masternode for 20,000 PIRL provided you have a good server and a dedicated IP. PIRL demands some particular server specs to run any of the masternode stated above.

Quote
Server Specs which is required to run a PIRL masternode

RAM Memory : 4GB
Hard disk space : 20GB
Data Transfer : 3TB

Though the above mentioned Hard drive space may be suitable at current times, but in future this would be increased.

1484  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help me to understand Security breach with cryptocurrency on: April 10, 2018, 12:07:33 PM
Btc and other cryptocurrencies were developed with keeping security in mind and it is one of the most secure where hackers can't hack them or perform a DDOS attack on the network. To prevent this, the 1MB block size was created by satoshi. One would never even think of breaking the SHA-256 algorithm as it is pretty much secure anyway. By even considering anonymity in mind, one could be anonymous by mixing their coins with a mixer service and usage of TOR can hide your IP and real locations.

A security breach can occur when the exchange gets hacked or the private key of the user gets exposed. So one should never have a huge amount in the exchanges which would be lost if the exchanges gets hacked. As exchanges don't give out your private keys to yourself, you will be losing your coins if the exchanges gets hacked and private keys are exposed. Hardware wallets are the most secure way to store your coins and the coins would be lost only if your wallet gets stolen.

Because there was all interesting things that I knew on this forum, now I found some more and I will expand this topik.
Read my post for further more info. Good old times which would never come back. Surprisingly, I never came across the pirate guy who ran away with 500k btc.  Tongue
1486  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Joe's Signatureless Challenge: Win $25 + 8 Merits every week! (Round 6) on: April 09, 2018, 12:07:42 PM
Pretty tough time for me in selecting the Bonus Prize as either the Newbies didn't produce quality content either or left the campaign. As I stand by my word, though some Jr.Members were pretty good with posts, I will reward only a newbie. This may change only if none of the newbies has participated in this challenge in the future rounds. Hence I award butka a merit for his great post on explaining hashing functions in simple terms. Hope he gives me some technical advice on progressing with my bitcoin knowledge further. Let me save my 1 merit for future rounds. Since I didn't post anything good for the past 2 weeks I have been lagging in merits... Would work on quality content and start receiving smerits so that it won't get dried soon...

Post which I merited:

1487  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Professional and Institutional money are flowing in. What does that mean for us? on: April 08, 2018, 03:12:36 PM
Good post though. Blockchain technology has been in a rapid growth all over the world for its privacy and other key features. It has taken over a spot in "Top 5 technologies which could rule the world in future" and lots of huge multinational organisations such as IBM and Accenture are adopting them for various reasons. Most of the banks are going to adapt themselves to blockchain and the cryptocurrencies in the near future. Bitcoin has been considered by many to be digital oil which would revolutionize the future world.

Right now many people considered the cryptocurrency as unregulated scheme which might bump and dump at anytime in future. This thoughts would go away once when large mnc's accept crypto as a mode of payment and many countries start using them. Nowadays the awareness of crypto around the world is not too good, but it might increase once when countries start accepting them. If all these factors come to existence, the volatility of the crypto would be minimal and would diminish in future.
1488  Other / Meta / Re: The future of the signature campaigns on: April 06, 2018, 02:28:58 PM
Particularly if a member doesn't know anything about posting good quality or doesn't know anything about basic working of bitcoin, he should never join a campaign which demands 20-25 posts per week. Do you guys think making 3-4 posts per day is easier? Making 3-4 posts per day of high quality is somewhat really difficult and that's the time where spams generate. Of course if you are a shitposter it would be quite easier. If you doesn't know how to write a quality post then join in campaigns which demand 10 posts per week where you would be posting 1 quality post per day.

Some campaign managers doesn't even check the posts which the signature spammers make and reward them stakes. There are members who cover their 10-20 posts criteria just by joining twitter and fb campaigns and making reports of their likes and shares in social medias. Managers could implement what alu team is doing for their bounties by offering them a form to fill up for fb and twitter campaign reports which would reduce spam a lot.

Bitcoin Discussion is the biggest frog pond which cannot be cleaned even if all the mods of this forum join together. There are some technical threads on Altcoin Discussion which needs to be answered, but it becomes unanswered and they get buried as time passes. There would be investors for these tokens, as this is done for marketing their coin which could potentially bring some investors for their coins. Doing signature bounties is not bad, but spamming the forum to receive the rewards are considered to be bad.
1489  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What happen write number like this at code? on: April 06, 2018, 04:16:39 AM
So if type like,
nSubsidy >>= (nHeight / 5,112,000);
then 5,112,000 become to what number for computer?
As other members has given out some exact answers to your question, by the way what do you mean by numbers? Do you mean binary numbers Huh Comma operators can give out a varied results based on its usage in the code. At some times, it may even change the meaning of the code.

For instance consider a simple line of code where

a= b, c here in this the compiler reads them as a=b and a=c which will be similar to your case

if you use 5,112,000 instead of 5112000 as it meant to be, the compiler would end up with compiling 5 separately and 112 separately and 000 separately which would change your code. Hence don't try to use comma unless you are clear with them of where to use them.

And for your question about the number which computer reads, if you compile the 5112000, this would be converted to binary which is 10011100000000011000000 and would be given to the computer which reads them and replies.

I found a smart merit farmer - 2girls Grin

There is a thread to report plagiarism started by LoyceV. Then why are you starting a topic and trying to earn merits in a more smart way?

After going through your post history, I think I messed up with the wrong serious person who forcefully argue with other senior members of this forum.  Huh
1491  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Joe's Signatureless Challenge (Round 4) - 1st: $25 + 8Merits | 2nd: $10 + 6M on: April 03, 2018, 02:23:07 AM
Hey Joe, Its been a great week ahead for quality posts and Meretrix and butka is really great in posting good quality posts. As promised for this week I gave off my 2 merits to butka and Meretrix for their posts. I think you have not read my Edit 1 of my previous post? Anyways I will be giving away merits in definitely until all my smerits are gone. So I don't like to commit myself for 7 or 8 rounds. Can you please update this in the Main topic of yours?

Posts I merited:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3237021.msg33714060#msg33714060

Though I was trying to give off both my merits to Meretrix to his erotic bitcoin novel, it would have been against my rules. But I will keep an eye on this Bitcoin Novel, as it written really well.

The Bitcoin Novel must be posted in a well recognized board so that most of the forum members would read them and pour their merits on him. Such a good quality post present in Off topic is really bad. Hope week 5 would produce the same quality as week 4.

P.S. I would never give my merits to Jr- legendary. All my smerits would be given only to Newbies who participate in this challenge and produce great quality content.

Edit 1 : There is no need of thanking anyone. In this case we guys should thank you for stepping up with such a wonderful idea. As of now there are a total of 17 smerits with me which would be distributed through 8 weeks without any difficulty.
1492  Other / Meta / Re: Help, my old account is locked and my new one warns people I am a newbie. on: April 02, 2018, 06:46:19 PM
Did you mention your Btc address anywhere in your account?
Or have you posted a unedited btc address post from your old account?
If you had done any one of this, sign the message using the address.

If you have done the above send one PM to Cyrus with following format

Quote
-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----
My account <account> has been hacked/lost. Please reset the email to <email>. The current date is <date>.
-----BEGIN SIGNATURE-----
<insert address here>
<insert signature here>
-----END BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Here is the unedited post where I posted that address: ...
OR
I sent that address to someone in a PM with PM ID#...

If Cyrus doesn't respond to your PM after 2 weeks passed, message Theymos

Unless you haven't proved ownership of your account, they can't help you in recovering it.  Tongue
1493  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Greetings, A little help please ? on: April 02, 2018, 06:23:35 PM
At present, translations are really the highest paid campaigns. You can easily make a living if you are from a poor country by doing these translations, as they distribute the bounty in their own token which can be later exchanged for btc provided you have minimum amount of eth in your wallet to transfer the coins to the exchange. You can check out for translations in the Altcoin Bounties section and you can start providing your translations.

On the other hand if you write huge number of articles for various project, you could receive a higher pay itself based on the quality of your article.
1494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin smart contracts on: April 02, 2018, 04:20:17 PM
Smart contracts have been famous mostly on the ethereum blockchain, but most of the devs prefer smart contracts to be made on the ethereum block chain than the btc blockchain. As eth blockchain can be used to create a very complex smart contract, some projects have proved that a simpler and better contract could be created with btc. But on the contrary, eth contracts are highly developed by complex codes which is not the case with btc.

But this could be achieved by using the features which are implemented to the btc by the BIPs. For example consider this BIP which was a important improvement and this feature could be used in the creation of smart contract like script.  This particular code helps to prevent funds from being spent from a multisig wallet until certain amount of time passes or until all the buyers or sellers signs the transaction.

I may even be wrong in explaining things
1495  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ethereum gas price calculation on: April 01, 2018, 09:55:21 AM
thank you for the reply, so basically setting gas higher than suggested won't matter?
If you are setting your gas higher than suggested that is if you are trying to do a normal transaction which uses gas of 21000 with placing a gas of 100000, then you need to pay a higher transaction fee than expected. Higher volume of gas are used only when you try to transfer your tokens, otherwise you could use a standard gas limit of 21000. Gas price/ gas matters to make a faster transaction, otherwise specifying higher gas just costs you a lot.

Never use lower gas like around 21000 when you are trying to transfer your tokens. This will make gas to be burned and your transaction will not be confirmed and you will end up with a loss in transaction fee.

Why does satoshi have a bad virtue? This does mean that satoshi will be visited by holy inquisition? Embarrassed

satoshi

Activity: 364
Merit: 1053
Politeness: 82
fMerit: 636
Imagination: 4
Virtue: 6
Coins: 77
Karma: 215

This means satoshi has invested in 77 different coins?  Grin Wondering what he has invested in?
1497  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Joe's Signatureless Challenge (Round 4) - 1st: $25 + 8Merits | 2nd: $10 + 6M on: March 30, 2018, 06:14:10 PM
Hey Joe,

I have been following this thread from the time you started it and I am finding a place for my smerits to sit around. I started a service for giving out merits for quality posts, but it all went in vain when spammers took over my thread and started requesting merit for shit posts. Hence I locked the thread and was thinking around how to spend these merits. I am not good in judging the post quality. So I would like to award 2 merits per week for 2 quality posts made by a newbie wearing your signature.

Currently I have 15 smerits with me which can be distributed in 7 rounds. If I receive enough merits in the coming weeks and if my current smerits raises more than 15 I would be sharing with the winners of this challenge after the aforementioned 7 rounds. I can assure you that I won't be giving even a single merit outside this challenge and I would donate all my smerits to this challenge.

If in rare cases, I didn't receive a single merit in the course of 7 weeks for the posts I make, I would stop meriting people and leaving this challenge. If you approve this, I would start my journey along with you and other people for making this forum clean and free from spams. Sharing is Caring Smiley

Edit 1 :

Alternatively, I can make you a merit sponsor for the following 7 rounds and you can choose to wait until the winners have been announced before meriting the posts of your choice; similar to the manner of current merit sponsors.
Sorry for being late in replying to this Joe, I currently have 16 smerits which can be distributed in 8 rounds. Can you make the week count as 8? Yes there has been great content so far produced by the newbies. Similar to the Chipmixer "Badge of Honor", I am sure the members who are participating in Joe's Signatureless Challenge will be making top quality posts.

Let me know if you'd like to become a sponsor, and for which placement of winners. I can create a separate category for you, such as a bonus prize only eligible to newbies. Does this work?
Yes, a bonus prize category will work for giving away merits. Do you mean Cash Sponsor?

1499  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Changing Max Supply after released on: March 29, 2018, 01:45:07 PM
ok thanks. So how to calculate the Max Supply? For example I see BTC has 21,000,000. How be sure mine will be 65,000,000? I use 50 coins per block with halving every 4 years like bitcoin does

I think my reply in other thread will help you out with this issue.

No, I think you might be wrong in understanding the Max_Money variable. Max_Money is rather a sanity check and not the total money supply which when said in bitcoin is less than 21,000,000. This Max_Money constant is used to prevent people from doing a transaction not more than 21,000,000. For example if there happens to be a overflow bug within the network that happens to create a coin out of simple modification leads to a fork.

The total supply of btc will always be less than 21,000,000.

Code:
Subsidy is cut in half every 210000 blocks, which will occur approximately every 4 years
    nSubsidy >>= (nHeight / 210000);

Which means when the first 210000 blocks are created, the mining rewards were 50btc, and the next 210,000 blocks the reward is cut in half to 25 btc and the next 210000 blocks the reward is cut in half to 12.5 btc. This process continues till the total coins are mined out which will be equal to 20999999.9769btc which is approximately equal to 21 million.
1500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Still A Safe-Haven Asset? Yes? No? what is your answers and why? on: March 28, 2018, 05:55:35 PM
During Feb, the price was a monthly low accounting to 6,300$. And right now the price touched 7,900$. These timely low are because of trustee selling off lumps of btc in exchanges and the banning of crypto ads in major social media platforms such as google and fb. Crypto will recover at a steady rate and it would take time for these problems to get over.

Coming to your question, according to my view it is a safe asset for people. Btc was created to replace fiat in future and to be used as a global currency. If all the people in this world are against crypto, the value of btc would be zero as there are no supporters eventually. If supporters grew with time, the value would grow exponentially.
