I was a little busy over the past few days. That's probably the reason why I was inactive over the days. In my past campaign with you, I could have easily spammed with one liners and could have received the pay. But I was not willing to do so. Hope you reconsider me for this and I would be more active in the following days.

You have put forward a unique question which I believe hasn't been discussed here since from the start. Mitchell's signature campaign thread is quite popular for its unique presentation template and the content it has provided. Probably it is one of the most well maintained threads in the forum, and also most of the other overview topic starters have used a similar template. Hence, that should be the primary reason in one of the pugman's thread on campaign managers having a advertising slot. Either they should have used the similar template and doesn't want to change the template or should be aware of the advertising slot the topic provides.

2. Gets abuse in respect to listing scam projects on those thread
Scam coin projects never pay in bitcoin and such really good topic starters will never indulge themselves in promoting a ERC-20 token in their slot. I do agree to the fact that the slot might be misused at some point of time in the future, but having the advert slot in a well written and informative post itself is not a bad idea. I am into creating an overview topic which might take a few more days to post and I have thought of contacting Mitchell for using his template for my topic. If such thing happens, I wouldn't be using the advert slot.

it makes no sense lets say I open a thread to read about mining bitcoin and I get welcomed by some shitproject or coin advert.
If you wear a ERC-20 signature and you're very much active in the bitcoin boards it doesn't make sense either. The problem lies in what we advertise instead and doesn't relate to what gets advertised where? Last year I did such thing by advertising a ERC-20 token and was very much active in the Bitcoin Technical board. It makes sense, until we are aware of what we promote both in our signature and in our advert slot.

1064  Economy / Reputation / Re: Lauda & Loyce please confirm your gender... on: April 06, 2019, 02:19:56 PM
I agree, a single piece of personal information can be used against someone in this kind of world. Even though gender is not enough data, by combining all raw and small data can form an information that someone can use for certain activities.

Leaned it from school.
No one gives info out in the public, but giving out your name, addresses, telephone number and other privacy related things to a trustworthy member for shipping or other similar stuffs is good to go. I have seen people involved in collectibles and hardware section buying and selling stuffs and handing out their Name, addresses, telephone number etc. If the user is proven to be trustworthy, you can give away personal information about yours, that shouldn't be a problem actually.

Even Lauda buys stuffs from this forum, that doesn't mean they could be doxxed! If you trust a person with your privacy, you don't need to get back in exposing yourself.

But the problem is that, those trustworthy members turn greedy sometimes and threaten to reveal their privacy. There are lots of cases which happened back in the forum.

I like the way you phrased that.  This isn't the appropriate section for a discussion on gender identity politics and so forth,
Yes, thanks for pointing out. While I was typing I was reluctant enough to post this considering that it might become off topic. My post was partially off topic and an on topic post.

Lauda is a cat, only cat fuckers care about a cats gender...

Are you a cat fucker?

Why should cats have all the fun?  Roll Eyes
1065  Economy / Reputation / Re: Lauda & Loyce please confirm your gender... on: April 06, 2019, 10:30:20 AM
That's a bad example. FYI, theymos doxx is all over the internet and everyone pretty much knows what's his gender is.
Haha, true. But newbies doesn't know about that or on other hand people who are new to this forum doesn't know exactly.

You remind of a typical feminist now. No one is going to be rude to you without a particular reason regardless of your gender.
As asche said, what's wrong in being a feminist? I am not a feminist though, but large parts of the world are still not treating male and female equally and that's what I am talking about.

Rude could be a pretty much mistaken word in this discussion, but overpowering is common all over the world.
1066  Economy / Reputation / Re: Lauda & Loyce please confirm your gender... on: April 06, 2019, 07:00:47 AM
Not mentioning the gender in their profile doesn't mean they are anonymous or probably not willing to reveal their gender. For instance theymos didn't mention in his gender, does that mean he is a female or one among the many gender identities prevailing in this earth?

This quote from LoyceV could certainly be enough to prove their gender identity

This time, I asked my wife to make the prediction: $7,800.
I tried to convince her otherwise, as it's very close to butka and AlcoHoDL, but she's sure about it Cheesy

P.S Why should they confirm their gender and what it has so with their account? If they are a female, will you be rude over them or willing to overpower them? A male dominant mindset is not good!

If one doesn't know the opposite party gender in a public discussion forum, mentioning them as 'they, them, their's' would be appropriate.
1067  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk on Wikipedia looks kinda sparse on: April 03, 2019, 05:24:02 AM
More importantly, if someone is into bitcoin for a while they wouldn't reach the Wikipedia or similar encyclopedia websites for information. Bitcoin wiki along with the developer documentation is one of the most accurate and regularly updated things in the bitcoin world for information. We need to note that, even bitcoin wiki website doesn't give out much info on the bitcointalk forum with just limited info on sirius, satoshi and history. If we are concerned on updating the info about the forum, first we need to give a brief insight about the forum on the bitcoin wiki website itself before reaching the Wikipedia website.

Probably, a wiki page of any matter is not just an overview of events taking place and they consist of everything happening over time. The Wikipedia page of even the bitcoin network doesn't contain much information. I guess few months back, a user wrote a detailed info on bitcointalk by having a chat with some early members and gathering necessary details.

1069  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How does one derive a SegWit address from a legacy address? on: April 01, 2019, 09:42:13 AM
@Coding Enthusiast Thanks for being more precise and correcting me. I would like to clear up few more things from what I have read.

This part is false.
G is not exactly a "constant" and is not derived from the curve. G is one of the point on the curve that we have chosen as the "generator" of the curve. And that means multiplying any value from 1 to order of G yields another point (not a string of characters!!) on the curve which would be your public key. And that is the basic of asymmetric cryptography.
So, you do say that they are not constant. But from what I have read in Mastering Bitcoin Book, the author says that "G is a constant point and they are always same for all keys in bitcoin."

G is a constant point called the generator point,
Because the generator point is always the same for all bitcoin users,

This is false. Legacy transactions don't have higher size, they have higher weight.
Thanks for clearing it up. I was completely unaware of the weight, although I have read that segwits fees are calculated based on the virtual size of the tx.
1070  Other / Meta / Re: KYC now required on: April 01, 2019, 06:15:32 AM
OK, I have filled the KYC form with utmost accuracy. I have given my RL name, the address I am residing, my income, my job etc etc. Nothing is fake and has been proven true many a times, and I assume theymos or his KYC team verify that and get back. If you people are coming to my home for additional verification and if I am not there, I would probably be in the J. P. Wynne High School. I am a chemistry teacher, and you can come there and visit me. I am at school right now, and this is a picture of mine taken by my students. Thank you and hope I get verified sooner.

1072  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How does one derive a SegWit address from a legacy address? on: March 29, 2019, 11:14:37 AM
, or how one or derived from the other? Thank you.

In order to understand how the addresses are generated, you need to have an insight on how the public keys and private keys are derived based on the elliptic curve algorithm which is being followed in the bitcoin. Every address is generated from the private keys. With a private key you can generate either a legacy address (that starts with 1) or a segregated witness address commonly known as segwit (that starts with 3 or bc1). Some wallets like electrum can generate only addresses which are of legacy type or native segwit or bech32 type.

A public key is generally derived from the private key with a help of one way multiplication function. This means that, you can generate a public key from the private key but you cannot do the other way (i.e a private key cannot be derived from a public key). A private key is a ordinary number which lies in between 1 and 2^256. I am not going deep inside about private keys and their functions, as it would become slightly off-topic and the post would become so lengthy and cumbersome.

A private key is a hexadecimal representation of 256 bit random number. From that hexadecimal number, you generate the public key by doing a multiplication. This multiplication can be represented by

K = k * G

where

G = Constant from the elliptic curve
k = Private Key
K = Public

The constant G is derived from Elliptic Curve and when you multiply your generated Private Key with the Constant, it will yield a new string of characters known as the public key.

Note that, it is a one way function where only multiplication is possible and dividing Public Key with constant won't yield you the Private Key.

Legacy Addresses

Once you have the Public Key, you can either generate a legacy address or a segwit address. A legacy address is the common address used in the early days and will generate a higher transaction size. With higher transaction sizes, you need to pay higher fees. Here with the generated public key, you will double hash them to get a resulting legacy address.

The public key is first hashed with Sha256 algorithm and the resulting number is hashed with RiPEMD160 algorithm. We can simply write this as,

Address = RIPEMD160[SHA256[PubKey]]]

The resulting version of the hash is longer enough, hence they are encoded using Base58 encoding method which brings down the total character to 58.

P2SH Addresses

A P2SH is similar to the hashing function, but here we don't hash the public key rather we double hash the script. Addresses that start with 3 are generally called as p2sh rather than calling them as segwit. Segwit removes unwanted witnesses which increases the size of a transaction significantly. By reducing the space, more transactions can be included in a block which certainly helps in scalability of the bitcoin network.

Yep, I surmised as much. What I'd like to know is, how do I see the list of SegWit addresses linked to that legacy address? I'd like to give proof of funds from a 3XXX address rather than a 1XXX address, so I want to figure out how the two are linked.
They are linked together only by private keys. With a single private key, you can either generate a legacy or a segwit address.
1073  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is Your Favorite Gambling Game? on: March 28, 2019, 11:33:36 AM
Poker seems to be a better game for me. Though I have never been into gambling or never will, playing poker isn't completely based on chances or luck. I do believe that there is a little luck, but strategies can be applied in a positive way to get a win probably. A strategy of guessing others, or sometimes doing a successful collusion without getting detected will lead you to earn a decent sum of money. Weather or not it is strictly forbidden to do a collusion, but a successful try will help you to win the game.

But the negative fact is that, if we are caught up for a collusion activity our funds and account will be freezed and taken down. Playing an online poker has an added advantage over the BnM games, such that we can experience higher gaming speeds along with a multi table shifting capability. And poker is a game based on the strategies and habits of a person. If you play with your friends all along the usual way, there is a higher chance that you would be deleted. With online pokers you tend to meet different people from all over the world and you could compete with them.
1074  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Need help, stop TX with my own node. REWARD on: March 28, 2019, 06:38:45 AM
0.67 sats/byte is infinitesimally smaller fee. There are chances, it stays in the mempool for a very longer time unless a miner decides to add them to a block. There is also a possibility, the transaction might even be rejected and returned back to your wallet. As nc50lc said, try using a coinb.in or try using the -zapwallettxes command to erase the tx from your local mempool and respend the same input.

To use the -zapwallettxes more successfully, you need to shut down the core and also should delete mempool.dat from the wallet folder. Once you have deleted the .dat file, and started the core with the command, the older unconfirmed transactions will be erased and you can spend the same coins to correct address with the higher fee. By this way, you can double spend the already spent coins.

I am not sure if this works but try the following things out,

1. Close the bitcoin core.
2. Go to the bitcoin directory/folder present in the documents folder.
3. Delete the mempool.dat file.
4. Restart the wallet with -zapwallettxes=1 command.

If this doesn't work, add the -zapwallettxes command in the bitcoin.conf file.
This can probably clear up the unconfirmed transactions in your wallet and respend the same input with higher tx. Hence the new tx gets confirmed and the older one gets rejected by the network.
1075  Other / Meta / Re: Brainboss's Merit Source Application. [Focus Alt subsections] on: March 28, 2019, 05:30:37 AM
I would hate to see you become a source.

This topic shows your poor judgement: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5100675 - you are just throwing rules in the air, that are at best not true. Bumping them all the time won't make them any more legit.
Thats certainly a rude statement from you. I have seen you giving out harsh comments on people not being right on certain instances, but it has nothing to do with being appointed as a source actually. I don't find any such merit abusing traces from brainboss and he seems to be contributing to the community in a positive way. Along with this, people also commonly have misconception with the moderator appointment too. The moderator doesn't need to be popular enough but should be active and report posts along with gaining some minor reputation from fellow members.

But on the other hand, i also guess that there are enough merit sources managing the main boards and I think ATM we don't need any additional sources. Also if all the sources finish off their source merits and the merit receivers giving out all their smerits by spreading them in the Non-spammy boards, I guess the current generation of smerits is more than enough for a decent poster to rank up without any hurdles.

For the topic which you have pointed out, brainboss has mentioned he will be correcting the topic if it's proven to be wrong. He has never said that right, nor he stands for that. We shouldn't expect everyone to be right from the beginning.
1076  Economy / Speculation / Re: *Q2-BTC-PRCE PREDICTION-GAME* Q2 LIST GAME on: March 24, 2019, 06:14:07 PM
Will stick on to my earlier prediction $5671

I speculated btc might reach the price or would near that in my earlier guessing but sadly it went in vain and we are still in the $4000 mark. Let's see how this progress over the 3 month time. If we still hover on and doesn't get past the breaking point within April or May, then it would be difficult to reach my expected target.

May the force push up the price over $5000 soon Sad
1077  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Play poker to train trading on: March 24, 2019, 05:31:59 PM
I do agree with both OP and cryptovigi's post. The poker can be more commonly considered as a game of skill and not just a game of luck. Gambling is entirely different from investing or trading stocks or cryptocurrency on the whole. For in order to get a profit in trading one must be aware of the market conditions, the condition of the stocks, the development in the coin etc. But gambling is purely based on luck and it does always wins in favour of the casino. Careful trading will make you earn serious profits but careful gambling in most of the times results in losses. Similarly, a poker game cannot be categorized as a gambling game. They are based on the skill of the player and his professional tactics he has earned over the period of time by playing the game.

Not all poker players are gamblers, they are not risking their money based on the luck. They do believe in their skill and the weakness of the opposite weak minded player. Another note worthy thing is that, serious poker players can make a living like a trader but a professional gambling addict always loses his hard earned money to the rich casino. Some gamblers lose the money on poker based games, but they need to be blamed for that. Winning in a poker is based on his analysis of the opponent, and the ideas he has gained from his previous poker winning experiences.
1078  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Perfect Dice experience on: March 24, 2019, 03:55:06 PM
Past user experience are one of the important factors to be considered for gamblers getting engaged in a particular casino or dice site. Some users find it hard to gamble in a particular casino since they might have higher chances of losing the game, or they find it difficult to withdraw during particular time periods etc. Some casinos allow people only to withdraw only during particular time, hence if the gamblers require money they need to wait. Waiting for prolonged time periods, has a higher chances of changing their minds and hence they would be addicted to gamble more and lose more.

As others have pointed out, GUI is another common factor to be considered. Some gambling sites have a poor design and development which doesn't attract new gamblers. Some have very poor marketing strategy which doesn't bring in more people and considerably they lack the current gamblers too. Along with that, some online casinos charge huge fee to carry out the withdrawal. Hence, if the gambler willing to take out a minimum amount he needs to pay higher fee which doesn't attract quite many people.
1079  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling addiction also a result of trauma? on: March 24, 2019, 02:16:16 AM
The fun part is that Gambling addiction itself results in Trauma. People tend to be addicted to gambling not just in a single day or a month. Some start with a little money, win through a series of games and subsequently due to the profits they have seen in the gambling makes them addicted towards these. Prolonged Gambling experience leads a person to experience traumatic issues probably. Alcohol and other drugs are consumed by people in a higher stress sorts of issues but Gambling doesn't get that way.

But, if the person has been in trauma due to the loss of money in his business there are higher chances for him to get involved in gambling to regain the money. So, if he wins through the games he might eventually continue it as an addiction. We also need to note that, recent studies which took place in 2017 also shows that Gambling addiction takes place due to the gamblers facing a pressurized childhood such as with the parents being violent to them, abuse taking place in colleges and schools. That being said, gambling addiction has its roots in the earlier stages of the life or the situations which were hard to forget made them move towards gambling.
1080  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How does online gambling operations manage gambling addiction? on: March 23, 2019, 03:57:53 PM
Not only does the Brick N Mortar casinos have the gambling licenses, nowadays most of the online casinos too have them to cover a wider range of audiences. As similar to BnM casinos the online casinos can have such particular techniques to prevent gamblers from getting addicted more towards the gambling or to prevent them from getting a loss over huge sums of money. The foremost things is that, online casinos don't indulge in such practices commonly since they don't want to have a lesser profits while the gamblers loses the game.

But some of the legit gambling websites have certain roles and responsibilities towards their customers. One such being, they do have certain real time chats to prevent gamblers from being addicted. Another such thing is the Stop Loss prevention. Gambling websites Cam easily track through the profits and losses of a particular gambler. If the gambler seems to be more towards the loss, he can be automatically prevented from being participating in further games. By this way he would be prevented from playing more and certainly losing more.

But we need to understand that, gambling websites probably are not involved in such things and it's up-to the gamblers to limit and prevent themselves from being addicted and not losing their money. If the gamblers take back, gambling sites find a hard time to have such huge profits.
