1501  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Let There Be Dark! Bitcoin Dark Wallet on: October 31, 2013, 08:29:09 PM
Quote
Dark Wallet needs $50k to finish its development and testing
Why do they need $50k for that? are they hiring a software firm? Are they using the money to compensate themselves for the work they put in?

Their "dark wallet" is a browser plugin, so it's probably connecting to a third party server. Unless the plugin directly connects to the bitcoin network, it's far less secure and anonymous than the satoshi client.

A quick skim of their indiegogo page shows more idealism and buzzwords than any actual planning. This is mirrored by the massive gap between what they want for bitcoin (anonymity, resistance to censorship, anti corporation/goverment), and what they've done (browser plugin wallet).

tl;dr: a group with more ideals than work wants money
1502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: It keeps changing the "Estimated Confirmation Time" on: October 31, 2013, 06:53:13 PM
here's an idea: stop using blockchain.info's wildly inaccurate "estimated confirmation time"
1503  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin TAX on: October 31, 2013, 02:26:13 AM
what if i multiply that 1 btc to 20 btc. lets say i go on a "insane" run.

Then if you're in Canada you don't pay taxes on gambling wins.
I don't think that applies for foreign gambling winnings.
1504  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Logo? on: October 31, 2013, 02:09:52 AM
1. find high res bitcoin image (yes, there's a high res filter on google images)
2. rescale using photoshop, no paint, for good quality.
3. Huh
4. profit
1505  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin-qt error on: October 30, 2013, 12:28:38 AM
does it crash with the original datadir?
1506  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin QT upstarted after a couple of weeks, - Complete wallet UNCONFIRMED on: October 30, 2013, 12:25:40 AM
My own wallets saldo has never been the same as the saldo on my address on  "blockchaininfo", how is this possible?
this sentence is impossible to parse.
1507  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin QT upstarted after a couple of weeks, - Complete wallet UNCONFIRMED on: October 29, 2013, 10:41:06 PM
In your bitcoin data directory, delete the "blocks" and "chainstate" (you can backup before deleting, but there's nothing important there). This will reset all downloaded blocks and allow bitcoin to redownload the blockchain.
1508  Economy / Services / Re: 0.3 BTC / month free (Best payouts, No Continued Posting Requirement) on: October 29, 2013, 02:31:12 PM
I'm enrolling for another month. Smiley
1509  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Made a physical Bitcoin tip jar (Youtube) on: October 29, 2013, 01:27:34 AM
I think you realy want to ads the ppcoin...
it uses blockchain.info api for getting transaction info. it would be difficult to add any alt-coin support without heavy modifications to the code.
1510  Economy / Services / Re: 0.3 BTC / month free (Best payouts, No Continued Posting Requirement) on: October 27, 2013, 11:30:24 PM
i didn't get my payment for last month.
Thank you for the payout. Always appreciate the extra income Smiley

I would like to re-enroll into the program once more. I've also changed my signature from link B to link C.
1511  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to add BTC payments to a script? on: October 27, 2013, 03:02:28 PM
Anyone know how to add the Blockchain API to it?
1) read documentation for blockchain.info
2) examine advertisement script
3) make changes

if you lack the skills to code, pay someone to do it.
1512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Warning: Displayed transactions may not be correct! message ! on: October 26, 2013, 01:19:34 AM
you can download this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=145386.0 which is much faster than syncing.
1513  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Warning: Displayed transactions may not be correct! message ! on: October 25, 2013, 09:07:46 PM
- I don't think that with 120 weeks behind and I was at 24 weeks behind that it will still download that from the beginning and I'm at 7.88 GB, did you got my point ?

- Another question, if you don't mind Smiley , if I'm going to format my PC, what is the CORRECT way to have a backup of the chain blocks ? As it's impossible everytime I'm going to download 12+ GB.

Thank you
copy these folders:
%appdata%\Bitcoin\blocks
%appdata%\Bitcoin\chainstate
%appdata%\Bitcoin\database

after you restore the folders, run "bitcoin-qt.exe -rescan"
1514  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Warning: Displayed transactions may not be correct! message ! on: October 25, 2013, 08:44:38 PM
Thanks.

So if I'm not mistaken, sometimes it will "sync" and sometimes it will "reindex", am I right ?
reindex only occurs if the stored data is corrupt.
1515  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Warning: Displayed transactions may not be correct! message ! on: October 25, 2013, 08:14:19 PM
Is this because it's downloading the remaining chain blocks
yes. the blockchain is currently 12.8 gb.
1516  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Warning: Displayed transactions may not be correct! message ! on: October 25, 2013, 07:14:59 PM
Could you please guide me how to do this, as I can't figure how to work with command lines.

Thank you
1. go to the folder where bitcoin is installed
2. shift + right-click -> open command window here
3. type "bitcoin-qt -reindex" into the command window (without quotes) and hit enter
4. wait for bitcoin to rescan. this may take 30 minutes.

1517  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How can Bunny Run send < 54.3 uBTC? on: October 25, 2013, 06:37:08 PM
it's allowed. see bold parts:

Payments (transaction outputs) of 0.543 times the minimum relay fee (0.00005430 BTC) are now considered 'non-standard', because storing them costs the network more than they are worth and spending them will usually cost their owner more in transaction fees than they are worth. Non-standard transactions are not relayed across the network, are not included in blocks by most miners, and will not show up in your wallet until they are included in a block. The default fee policy can be overridden using the -mintxfee and -minrelaytxfee command-line options
1518  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: www.plus500.com anyone but me trading there? on: October 24, 2013, 06:58:04 PM
no promo.. its hard to ask and not mention the name... I just find it unbelievable and fun that I can trade BTC with leverage..
bitfinex did this a year ago
1519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: When did fees become mandatory? on: October 24, 2013, 03:58:17 PM
there's a "no forced transaction fee" fork that removes all fee requirements. if you use it, please don't come back asking why your transaction has not confirmed.
1520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Standard Bitcoin-Qt client is burning up my CPU on OSX 10.8.5 on: October 24, 2013, 03:56:07 PM
then it's most likely your peer's speed. bitcoin doesn't know who the fastest peer is, so it chooses at random. if bitcoin chose a slow peer, you get slow speed. also, it's worth mentioning that each block has a different size. blocks from when satoshi dice was popular, for example will take longer to verify. thus it might seem "slow" from a blocks/minute perspective.

But if the peer speed is low then why is it using tons of CPU?
see the second explanation.
