By examining the tops wallets, I've found there are key characteristics that help identify whether the owner is individual or corporate.

Here's an interesting post I found on Tumblr: http://cryptocuttlefish.tumblr.com/post/85867526266/the-largest-zetacoin-wallet-is-cryptsys-cold
1502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Richlist links for Altcoins on: June 25, 2015, 09:00:12 PM
One thing to keep in mind while researching this subject is that many of the top wallets are cold storage addresses controlled by exchanges.

I think Cryptsy might hold the record for controlling the largest number of top wallets.
1503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MicroGuy's Altcoin Pick of the Week (Inside Scoop) on: June 25, 2015, 02:48:46 PM
Personally I think that HYPER is one of the best altcoins in the market at the moment. It has great developers, user network, games integration and a steady price grow on the exchange.(bittrex)

Also offers 5%/month PoS rewards and has a unique personalized wallet along with a complex,well-thought development plan.

If we could please keep the topic confined to my picks of the week it would be appreciated.

Otherwise, we will just be opening a huge can of worms. Cheesy
1504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GoldCoin™ (GLD) Thread - The Gold Standard of Digital Currency [OFFICIAL THREAD] on: June 25, 2015, 02:32:22 PM
Hi, dev!

No BLOCKS! (1211.53%)
Why?

"goldcoind" compiled from source code - https://github.com/goldcoin/gldcoin/

It looks like your pool's GLD hashrate is 0%. The pool's status page indicates the correct block height.

What do you mean, "no blocks?"
1505  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A question regarding the Bitcoin network on: June 25, 2015, 12:47:11 AM
How are changes in the Bitcoin network implemented? I'm not talking about the core of the network itself, but rather, if for example some new feature were to be implemented... can someone outline the decision-making process, who is responsible for implemented such changes and how they are made known to the community? Thank you

This is the gray area and decision tree that's not yet clearly defined. Once this ambiguity is crushed into ashes, Bitcoin will become an unstoppable force.

CannabisCoin Looks to ‘Get High’ After Block Halving

... audio backing track for this post.

A special love weed is overtaking the nation as bong puffers the world over begin using crypto to purchase the multi-useful plant medicine. Cannabis is a sacred flowering plant that has been demonized for decades in many western societies.

But now the tide is turning, and it seems that much of the irrational resistance to this miracle plant is going up in smoke. A quick Google search reveals endless news stories of favorable legislation creeping across the states. And as more buyers line up to purchase the wacky wonder weed, merchants look to cannabis-themed cryptocurrencies for collecting on their nickle and dime bag wares.

CannabisCoin (CANN) is a new payment solution geared towards these marijuana dispensaries and online merchants. The coin once held a position in the top 15 with a marketcap of over $5 million dollars, but then the altcoin market crashed. Its community is hoping the upcoming block reward reduction will help erect the budding coin and bring it back into the spotlight.

I think, this fits well under off-topic.

How exactly is this story off topic?

Because, what you have written is just a story, which intentionally coincidentally uses the word bitcoin. It has nothing to do with Bitcoin Discussion.

Firstly, I didn't write this story.

It was written by an active wildland firefighter about this views on the current state of Bitcoin. This was his first attempt at publishing his work. If it would be better, I can post the entire text into this thread, but it's 2,444 words long.

While interest in bitcoin has faded into a near distant memory, in most of our of staring eyes, since the popping of its last impressive bubble, the collapse of Gox, and the ensuing hooblah… beneath the calm, still water of disinterest, something is stirring. Unbeknownst to myself, while I was been tuned out of the cryptoworld, watching Ancient Aliens and ESPN, the gears have been turning in the crypto underground.

The elves have been at work, developing an elaborate infrastructure, and the hazardous monstrosity that bitcoin once was, is now morphing into an entirely new creature. One that just a few years ago would have been considered highly improbable. And dare i say that this new Bitcoin is getting… Sophisticated?

The big players have come to play, and have taken to the task of tackling the main setbacks that were hindering the growth from bitcoin expanding further. The main hindrance has been a lack of structural integrity in the networks infrastructure, but it appears that Bitcoin is overcoming this. With many obstacles to come, many obstacles are dissolving fast. Right now, it could be argued that the first legitimate platform built to effectively and excellently decipher this enigmatic algorithm for the common folk is coming of age. But most don’t seem to notice because they’re still staring into the chasms of possibilities of ancient aliens – I’m assuming everyone is hooked on that show and that is why they aren’t tuning into reality.

In the quiet, behind the scenes, like the shoemaker elves, they work unbeknownst to the public eye, preparing to offer effective solutions to bitcoin’s earlier years of endless and near hopeless problems. Of these problems, insecure exchanges and failing experimental platforms led to the most losses both in money and morale. Mt. Gox, the largest exchange holding the majority of bitcoins, suddenly evaporated into thin air before everyone’s eyes, leaving many robbed of their crypto. Unregulated, the bitcoin network has shown to be dangerous, with pitfalls and booby traps to watch out for while feeling your way, blind, through the perilous crypto landscape of hackers, corruption, and slews of nearly unknowable variables.

Reminiscent of the wild wild west, the bandits robbing trains are now hackers and corrupt business operators. Unfaltering reputation remains a key source of trust, but many-a-time reputation is built only for the extended trust benefit, before taking off with that much more loot, as victims fully open themselves to the disciplined con artist. We still have a long way to go on all this.

But worth looking at is Bitcoin’s massive gains in infrastructural developments. The Bitcoin creature is yet a fetus but its features are becoming clear. An active immune system is maturing, and distinct signs of evolution are clear.

It's ultimately up to the investors getting involved in these markets to investigate and research their own "picks".

But for the most part, there's very little I see being discussed here to support the thread topic and title. Tongue

According to my rough estimates, we should see a halving in ~2 weeks, right?

In 15 days from now, at about 02:00GMT if the average of 42 seconds/block holds true.

I think the block reward reduction will provide a nice bump in price over the coming days.
1515  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who Is Satoshi Nakamoto? on: June 24, 2015, 01:47:13 AM
It seems that Satoshi was a master of anonymity even before he knew how popular BTC would be.

Unless he was a time traveler, which would mean, he would have known exactly how popular BTC would be.
1516  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitcoin mining ? on: June 24, 2015, 01:26:01 AM
hello,

I would like to invest in making the mining bitcoins, I wanted to invest in the site scrypt.cc, but I think they have a lot of problem, I like to have a list of minors who reported the most benefits.

 thank you.

Going to need a few more details about your business model before I can be more helpful....  Undecided

1518  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the pro and con's about forking bitcoin? on: June 24, 2015, 01:17:01 AM
Fork = Evolve and, Not Fork = Devolve

The software is not self-evolving, until it is, we must continue on our quest to improve the code. The time to become conservative is when this thing gets big, not while Bitcoin is still in the experimental stage.

Altcoin Pick for the Week of 6/21/2015

Altcoin = CannabisCoin
Ticker = CANN

Website = http://cannabiscoin.net/

Brief Overview

(bonus: audio backing track for this post.)**

and a second track for those that read slow ...

CannabisCoin (CANN) is a proven payment solution for marijuana dispensaries, retailers, and online merchants. The coin is backed by medical-grade marijuana where its accepted, and is a community rooted coin, not a centralized "company coin" like big brother Bitcoin.

I feel the world deserves a cannabis related cryptocurrency. But at this time, I'm not so sure there's sufficient demand for 4 or 5 cannabis-themed cryptos.

Considering this coin is focused on real world use, is politically and medically correct in name, and is consumer branded for a plant medicine rapidly expanding in legalization and social acceptance, I feel this cryptocurrency deserves a place on every investor's radar. I noticed today also that CANN is now accepted by CAT, the exciting and new automated cryptocurrency trading bot.

Plus, this coin is no stranger to the highs of the charts. CannabisCoin once held a position in the top 15 with a marketcap of over $5 million dollars. With the block reward halving in just a few days, this could be an ideal time to pick up a few CANN for your portfolio.

If you're looking for a coin of the future, I can't think of a better option at the moment. Therefore, I must award CannabisCoin my Altcoin Pick of the Week!

Be sure to check out my Cannabiscoin 'Feature Story' tomorrow on AltcoinPress.com

1520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Didn't Satoshi Think About Instant Transactions? on: June 23, 2015, 09:23:05 PM
Well...   not actually "instant", but he could have though of 'faster' transactions.

When someone of his skills and imagination is on his path to create a decentralized digital currency, how is the transaction times are not given the most important thought process? I'm sure it isn't hard to imagine instant transactions in today's worls when email is the medium of daily communication which delivers messages in matter of seconds?

When Satoshi left, his work was not finished. You can tell by his last posts he intended to do much more.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3;sa=showPosts;start=0

Then, he mysteriously vanished with his coins (and the alert keys).
