The basic signals for Polo at the moment is that the top team is simply cutting away the useless chatter that serves no purpose for the customers or the company.

It was a prodigious waste of resources. The mods spent most of their time with boilerplate responses and banhammering to keep the place clean for SEC eyes. Makes much more sense to reassign them to beck-end support where they can make a real difference. This is assuming that Polo is genuine in what it states of course - I've been around long enough to know this could be a subterfuge.

I don't think so, it would mean we hit $3000 today... possible, but looks like we are going horizontal for a while.

Horizontal? We've had consolidation after a break-out. There could be a massive move up from here...

I hope all of you have realized that most everyone in the bitcoin community is completely wrong about this scaling nonsense. [...]

Thanks for the proclamation from the throne.

Interesting statistics with 16 hrs or so to go ..

+400,000 BTC linked
+16,000   addresses

http://transition.byteball.org/

Triff ..

So the number of linked BTC has approximately doubled from the 5th distribution then? Is there a way to see amount linked for each distribution?

20 x 62.5 = 1250 Mbytes

they are trading at ~0.3 btc per Gbytes

I'm not very sure but if we follow 1024 MB as 1 GB
you would have a pretty decent amount of BTC on selling them

Likely to be less when everyone dumps however. Not sure if I should try to get there first, or hang on until before the next distribution for a pump.

No trollbox, boo ho ho, what am I ever going to do.

Actually, it was useless.

That would make sense. There will be pause at 3200-3500 level, perhaps even small correction before we test new all time high at 4500, perhaps as soon as july.

Then we will see where this goes. I have strong doubts we can make 10k during this summer - and it would not be healthy for the market either, overheating it severely.

We will see.

I don't see it playing out like this. I'm thinking continuation of exponential run-up till end of June, probably hitting 4000s, but possibly more, then a crash in July in anticipation of UASF. Assuming a successful outcome, a new rally can begin some months later.

If miners actually agreed on a scaling solution, then maybe this rally might extend higher to 9000s, but I'd not wager good odds on that.

Beautiful. Also alts are dumping which makes a nice change.  Cool

Just buy a carwash.

Just hope Bogdan will sell it to me after what I said about his eyebrows.

Hm, they've cycled back into ETH again. Trying to push it over USD ATH to ignite yet more fomo.
1531  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 03, 2017, 04:04:21 PM
Yep, and also alts are showing signs of exhausting (about time!) and as I have been saying from some time now, when those fools see that they are losing those crazy returns they will come back to Bitcoin for the HUGE rise. Also Kraken is very bullish and the chinesse are still ahead of all the rest (again).

Of course, noone knows... but it is looking good to me!

Looking good to me too. Money seems to have shifted from the major alts to the lesser ones. This usually presages a rise in Bitcoin.

A chain split would be a disaster. Forkers will ruin us.

I'll be sure to GTFO before UASF happens. Maybe some want to ride that rollercoaster, I for one don't.

if ever do have to cash out a significant amount the last place i plan to do it is an exchange. i'm not interested in covering their ass with my personal information.

If you do cash out a significant amount, the problem I see is buying property. AML laws mean solicitors in most Western countries will want to see evidence of source of funds. It is also likely to trigger suspicion, which, at least in the UK, means a SAR (Suspicious Activity Report) being filed with the NCA (National Crime Agency).
1533  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 03, 2017, 12:18:00 AM
The main monero developer did a troll announcement which caused the price to dip 25% in a mater of minutes, and kept sinking for a few days. After that 25% dip though, one after the other altcoin started going in red, it was like a chain reaction. And then half an hour later Bitcoin started dumping.

DGB, BCN, DOGE crashed on the 22nd, yet you're saying some pump that ended on the 24th started everything off?

And none of these coins really caused anything by themselves. They're all little boats bobbing about in the sea.

I started this year with 1 or 2 BTC. I'm now at about 5 BTC, and another 10 BTC equivalent of assorted altcoins, some of which I will trade soon, others I will wait a little bit more, and one or two I will wait until the end of year.

Jesus, you must not have been very confident in BTC if you were only holding one or two? Hope you made bank in previous years.
1535  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 02, 2017, 03:46:20 PM
i don't get why people are emotionally attached to bitcoin only. it ain't emotionally attached to you.

it's maybe a terrible time to do some alt betting but there's nothing wrong with shameless profiteering when the opportunity was there. of course almost all of them are worthless. others may not know that so there's money to be made.

The opportunity is still there. Most users ever on Polo... play the pumps, dump on the chumps.

Shit gentlemand, you're just a killing machine. I imagine this is you driving.

I remember when block space was cheap as chips. What's in store for those dApps when it's a buck a transaction? Am I missing something?

They'll most likely need off-chain computation to scale e.g. Truebit. However, if they're going to do second layer tech where Ethereum is just used for settlement, I don't see why you'd need Eth and its virtual machine at all. You could just as easily use Bitcoin surely (well, assuming we ever get Segwit).

me thinks this is a last attempt on a push down on the whole market..but this is a imo..a beartrap...

be smart, ignore this on all coins, hodl everything and you will be happier in a week +

dont risk losing a huge % gain by gambling for a small temp gain

The market is exploding with new users everyday, new exchanges...big ones opening very soon too

Agree. I Hodl.
1538  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 29, 2017, 03:25:18 AM
I completely missed the boat on ETH and I'm still pissed about it. But I still don't get it. If decentralized applications ever take off, won't using ETH be prohibitively expensive at this price? Such that a cheaper alternative will instantly take it's place?

Cost of gas for computations is price-adjusted, so shouldn't increase in real terms until there is competition for block space.

It's an attempt to change governance and to accomplish such in the form of a hard fork.... A hardfork is not necessary. so why agree to something that is not necessary and that is problematic and that is going to set bad precedent for future take overs.. especially if they agree to either a hardfork or a change in governance.. ?

Primarily because the alternatives appear to be either ossification or radicalism, neither of which are appealing.
1539  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 29, 2017, 12:59:16 AM
I hope that Segwit+2MB gets enough support to finally end this absurd war. At this time it looks as the only non contentious alternative. I don't like the idea of non unanimous hard forks, nor UASF. Whatever is supported by an almost unanimous majority is ok to me at this time (Well, except BU/EC as I am totally against it).

Seemed like a decent compromise to me. Core programmers snubbing it was disappointing.

I'm with ya on this one. I frequently vehemently disagree with the sentiments you post. But this has always been a freewheeling thread. With the caveat that I don't know the content of the specific deleted posts, I'm inclined to think moderation has been irrationally exuberant here.

They changed their policy toward this thread. It's meant to be strictly btc price speculation only. Of course, 80% of the posts arguably aren't, so you end up with the dumb "off-topic" rule being applied arbitrarily.

I got two posts deleted today, one advising another member about gif size limits and another where I posted the "hell yeah mutherfucker" meme when we broke the resistance point of 800 (killjoys lol).
