621  Economy / Speculation / Re: Top 20 days for Bitcoin on: September 08, 2019, 12:04:31 AM
Fully 213 of the 500 dates are now in 2019. The new base forms?
622  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Dominance rising again. What is happening? on: September 01, 2019, 12:42:59 AM
I think we should compare within the period I specified

That is, the period from the recent bottoms (both Litecoin's and Bitcoin's earlier this year) till now, and within this period specifically Litecoin is still a better alternative to Bitcoin if you primarily aim for speculation.

Litecoin is now underperforming since the bottom and is at its lowest ratio since 12-2017.

Whoever held on halvening hype got rekt.

So WTF is "custionaries" ?

Questionnaires as a guess.

Correct me if I’m wrong but you only pay capital gains tax when you start to sell?

Take note that any interest you've earned from lending or staking is liable to Income Tax. As others have mentioned, any crypto-crypto trade is treated as a disposal which falls typically under CGT in the UK.
625  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Dominance rising again. What is happening? on: August 03, 2019, 07:19:59 PM
And if we compare the recent bottoms of both coins (i.e. 22 dollars vs 3300), Litecoin is still outperforming Bitcoin overall. And this remains true even if we take into account that Litecoin has been losing to Bitcoin last weeks. Actually, with Litecoin halving coming in a couple days, it will likely surge again (and this surge may have already started, by the way). To sum it up, not all altcoins are born equal

I rather don't think one is entitled to use words like overall when we've chosen partial timescales. Fact is overall LTC has underperformed.
626  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is Poloniex Still Safe to Use in 2019? on: July 29, 2019, 12:59:09 AM
Basically you just have to choose the one that's the least evil, I suppose.

Polo went from hero to zero not because they were evil but because they were incompetent.  Choose your poison I guess?

I learned basic on a TRS-80 and later owned a TRS-80 model II with an 8 inch floppy.

Ain't nobody got a bigger floppy than you xhomerx.

an interesting setup in eth/btc:
eth/btc went below support at 0.024, latest seen in march of 2017

Next level would probably be pre-bubble 0.015 (so much for the flippening, huffers!)

He likes my drone too.

Does he wave to you when banging the missus?  Tongue

Much more likely is the next peak at 35-300K (most likely around 150K), followed by a multiyear proper whooping.
What if such whooping will end up not the usual 80-85%, but 95% lower?
200k back to 10k? A proper teeth gnashing would ensue and most people would sell, most likely closer to the lows than highs.

I had this experience before (when Internet boom turned to bust). There were literally no bids for some stocks. Could it happen with bitcoin?
I don't know.
however, for now, you are right, let's enjoy dee moo.

I fear for the consequences when we reach a capitalization approaching the Nasdaq's during the dotcom era. I also suspect that they will try to point the finger at us when the next financial crash comes... anyway, this is all a conversation for another day.
631  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 10, 2019, 01:39:40 AM
is it "halving" or "halvening"?
enquiring minds need to know....

I think it's a Shrodinger's cat thing, so both simultaneously.

Lets find out. New poll time!

Difficult to know what constitutes the end of a bull? Was 2013 two bull runs or one? Well if two, I'll plump for H2 2019.

The relentless Agony of the Alts...

The BTC/alt charts generally look terrible to me from a technical angle. A lot are in no man's land, where they've broken long-term support. I'm not touching that until I see signs of utter capitulation (sea of -2x%) or BTC's rally getting long in the tooth.
636  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 09, 2019, 04:15:19 PM
Should probably try reading fiction again to wordy my words a bit.

ftfy.

Trying to get a jump on 50k here.  Not sure how I'm going to get impressions from everyone for these crowns though.
 Consider this a temporary crown.

lol, nice one.  Grin

638  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 09, 2019, 02:21:35 AM
Is Bitcoin dead again?

It's all over. He's kaput.

On a serious note, at what price point can hats be replaced for crowns? 50K? Tongue

I just had a taste of her sheer power while I was (ahem) technically short - but sir, it's only because I'd only managed to close the long leg of my trade yet! I was going to... I was going to. Whatever. Nearly 3% play money profit burned. Total profit ~ 0% (0.002 BTC actually.) Serves me right for shorting the corn.

Satoshi forgives your sins my child, for you acted out of passion and not hatred.

Now quickly eat some potato chips to represent his body and you will be absolved.
640  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 08, 2019, 05:12:07 PM
And on that note, with the benefit of hindsight, last week is starting to look like a huge bear defeat

Institutional shorters may soon be invited to a taste of Bitcoin's irrepressible power. Serves them right, those club-waving troglodytes.
