Deeper than dot-coms (officially)

As virtual currencies plumbed new depths on Wednesday, the MVIS CryptoCompare Digital Assets 10 Index extended its collapse from a January high to 80 percent.
The tumble has now surpassed the Nasdaq Composite Index’s 78 percent peak-to-trough decline after the dot-com bubble burst in 2000.

They talk as if there is an equivalency, but the Nasdaq had an inflation-adjusted peak capitalization greater than ten times the crypto peak. We can't talk about recapitulation until we reach the trillions USD imo.

bitcoin and ETH will equal in capitalization sooner or later, they have the same reputation

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2962774.msg30426301#msg30426301

Wow, so they have the same reputation according to knuckleheads in the alt section. To be honest, one can't even reach that conclusion because respondent's preferences should be weighted. $100 in a shitcoin <> $100,000 in bitcoin.

I liked this comment:

I feel like I’m getting rammed by a broomstick broken in half smothered in gorilla glue, covered in sand paper, with splinters covered in ghost pepper Chile powder. My girlfriend is blowing on my asshole to provide some relief but the splinters are also going deeper.[ref]

I’ll go out on a limb here and suggest you won’t get any legendaries meriting that post...

This is tempting me to spend my one remaining merit just to fuck with your mind... I guess that might make me an arrogant cunt though  Embarrassed

Welcome to the Wall Observer thread, Dutch!  Kiss

lol. Have his ass-cheeks cooled down? I want to haze him next  Tongue

The only ''unstoppable'' Dapp is that $100k+ cryptokitty  Undecided

You forgot what Eth was built for: the ponzi game Fomo3D.

A wise trader at least waits for a second bottom before stepping in. But feel free to catch a fallin' knife.

Should be a good move methinks. Plenty of degenerates to dump bags on higher up.

Oh I don't know dude, how about a medium of exchange?

Some days I wonder if "store of value" is what I signed up for when I started working with Bitcoin. The idea at the time was to be able to collect payments and buy stuff using something other than Paypal and dollars.

Now.... Still use it for that, but it's more complicated.

Store of value is the stairs you have to climb to reach medium of exchange. Trying to shoehorn Bitcoin into that space won't work when the first thing a payee does is sell the stuff.
1028  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 09, 2018, 07:14:39 PM
agreed. someone in a country with high inflation or a corrupt/insane dictator will allocate to those categories differently than someone in a more or less stable country. or some place prone to natural disasters that could wipe out vast parts of the land or infrastructure. each one must assign a risk factor and try to allocate/adjust funds accordingly.

now, if i were single, i would have much more of my net worth in btc. but im married now and much more risk averse. single, i did take much higher risks as they only affected me, no problem.. im an idiot, know it, and paid the stupid tax when needed. married, i wont risk our comfortable retirement simply for more possible profit. thats not to say i wont take risks for more profit at all, but much smaller ones than previously. securing our future is the priority. and to me that means more diversification. and i dont mean alts (junk), i mean non crypto. even though that has far less potential dividends, plus has its share of downsides too.

Nothing wrong with cashing out on the way up and securing your future. I don't think you need to be old or married to study that playbook either. While I think we're still heading to six-figures, the future isn't set in stone, and, after such fabulous percentage gains, diversifying into more traditional, lower-yielding assets is prudent imho.

Proof me wrong, please....

Just sell everything already so you can fomo buy at $100K with expensive mining gear that will have a negative ROI.

Don’t like seeing the CAP goes under 200.000.000$ but BTC dominance up 55.4% So we have to look like Thats cheering us up  Roll Eyes

Seeing ETH under $200 made my smirk Cheesy

They must be shitting the bed in Altcoinlandia.

Same thing with Neil Degrasse Tyson aka "black science man". What fucking research has that man ever published? Stephen Hawking came up with the big bang, ok kudos. But the rest of these famous "scientists".....Cmon.

Ahem, Feynman? I don't think a populariser of science needs to have made major scientific contributions to do their job well, however.

It would be valuable to compare their opinions today with their opinions in the depths of the last bear market. Did they foresee the boom or were they parroting sideways action and lower lows? Wherever I observe cheerful "expert" consensus, I become gloomy!
1033  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 06, 2018, 09:06:04 PM
What do you consider to be our current trading range (which I would also consider to be a range in which you do not get excited until it is breached?

Something like $5,900 to $7,900 ?

Actually, might we NOT get too excited (or assume that the bottom is "in" until we give another really good challenge to $10k and perhaps go above it for a while?

Could take several months, as you seem to be suggesting.

I'd set the range at the previous low around $5700 to the previous peak around $8500. I'm less inclined to consider the range analogous to 2015 until we've kept our footing here for longer. With the 1-week MACD breaching positive, one might argue that this safe ground is more treacherous than it appears.
1034  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 06, 2018, 02:06:00 AM
I thought we're not supposed to talk about alts in this thread? Cheesy

You need an activity over 1700, then your defence points will be high enough to deflect infofront's Bitcoin laser. You will incur some damage however, so give yourself time to heal.
1035  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 06, 2018, 01:27:48 AM
lol, inside buyer.

What's to stop someone buying and selling to themselves? Once they've created the impression that some object is valuable they can pawn it off onto an unsuspecting mark.
1036  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 05, 2018, 11:07:37 PM

I think we will bounce along this longer trend line currently around 6.2k  and start following the symmetrical wedge for a late October intersection.

Still have my bear boots on for now, but if we can maintain the trading range until the end of the year, I'd consider that a bullish signal.
1037  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 30, 2018, 11:43:38 PM
There is a balance because sometimes we also need to go quite a ways beyond ourselves in order to really begin to understand the world, to engage in critical thinking and to understand some of the views that contrast with our own, just to possibly improve ourselves.  We are not very likely to gain as many of these kinds of worldly knowledge points if we maintain book phobias.

The compression of experiences and their sharing that books facilitate is certainly useful. I'd probably still be a peasant plucking turnips without Gutenberg, so credit where due. As a vehicle of transmission today, I do think they can be inefficient though.
1038  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 30, 2018, 11:16:23 PM

Total right , but its Just becoming a sport When we are sideways to cheer with a +-200$ rise and be sad with a drop into red Numbers .....i can’t predict When big pricemovements gonna happen so i can’t talk much about that, only that i have a strong belief in BTC and that iT Will succeed longer term

Well, volatility is clamping down on the massive 8-month structure we've had since the top, so we should see some breakout of the range soon enough.

I've got a half-eaten pickle at the back of my fridge that I'm willing to throw into the ring.

I don't think he doesn't like books. He doesn't like these books and he is not alone. Personal development books usually suck and teach you nothing. They make you poor and stupid. Only the writer makes money by selling you nothing.

Look at this title:

"7 habits of highly effective people"

This title screams "S C A M". What the fuck would you possibly want to know about highly effective/intelligent/successful people? They study and work like there is no tomorrow. They set a target and do everything to get there. They don't fucking waste time on this shitty book that's for sure.

This. Plus, when I see a list that has The Secret in it, a book that genuinely insists you can change the rules of the universe through the positive power of your mind (something most infants quickly learn is impossible), that list has automatically become a shitlist that no intelligent person could recommend.
