1542  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin V1.9.1, Energy Saving Coin *27 Exchanges *57 Merchants on: June 01, 2014, 10:52:38 PM
I did indeed pledge 1 million MINT for a working windows wallet earlier, for now though, it seems it would be better to contribute to the online wallet initiative. I'll give 1 million MINT for that, so long these conditions are met:

1. The online wallet supports 2FA i.e. Google Authenticator
2. There is a clear link to an exchange (such as Vault of Satoshi) with clear instructions on how to purchase Mintcoin and send it to your 'account'

So in other words, the main page of the online 'Mintbank' provides some basic information on the coin and steps for getting started.

I do pledge 300k also.

Additional requirements :

The site running it shall be secured from being mtgoxed. It would be best if there were audits like the one Kraken made that all the deposits are actually there. On the monthly basis.

Here you go. Now let's find someone to do it.

Download link for Linux binaries doesn't work.  Cry
That's a Cloudflare thing. Try later on compile (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.msg6945897#msg6945897 may help).

Edit: fixed
A suivre, donc.

Et n'oubliez pas de cliquer sur les liens de referrers, pour continuer la chaîne !

Boy, that escalated quickly Smiley 10 minutes to fill the slots.

Now, let's see. A pizza is 15 euros average. By the end of June, considering the rising price of BTC, it could actually be less than 1 monero for a pizza Smiley

1547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bottlecaps - 200% Annual PoS coming soon! New lead developer Tranz on: June 01, 2014, 04:38:56 PM
Please be aware. There may still be a change or 2 before we are completely done.  So be sure to check back.
Thanks. Should I avoid having my newly-acquired Bottlecaps on this wallet (I have a backup) and instead send them back to cryptsy?

Blockexplorer/richlist looks great. I topped off the bounty with another 250 PHS so that we can meet our goal. I have sent unick the bounty, as promised, to the address he provided.

Thanks everyone for trusting me to collect the bounty. I am sure PHS will have a bright future, its a great community and I glad to be a part of it!
I will also once Cryptsy will honour my buy Sad

Remember all: ensure liquidity for the currency, to keep it alive. StakeHunter's suggestion is: sell every month 25% of your stake (we may discuss about the percentage and about what to do with these BTC, like buying other PoS).

Copy paste the TrxID into Cryptsy explorer http://altexplorer.info/chains/PHS/block_crawler.php

If you get an error, make sure to include the information: TX does not show up on Cryptsy's explorer in your ticket.

Mullick form Cryptsy was aware of the issue and cleared my missing TX up. for more info:

Internal server error. I checked twice, this is not me inputting typoes.

I just send this to cryptsy:

I apologize for the delay in response of your ticket.
The request has been sent to BigVern to resend this withdrawal.
So please expect the coins to be posted soon.
Your patience is greatly appreciated.
Hi,

It had been 8 days and still nothing. Should I tweet about BigVern being unreliable? What I am going to tweet if I don't get it.

It's first to do POW/POS is great innovation to stop wasting power.
Not the first PoW/PoS. The first Fast PoW/PoS Smiley Novacoin (on which Mintcoin code is based) was the first scrypt PoW/PoS (and Peercoin the first PoW/PoS).

I like the name and think it's ULTRA brand-able.
This is one of its major features.

Also remember that MintPal is pump and dump haven, even more than Poloniex. And Mintcoin actually MADE Mintpal, since Mintcoin was Mintpal's first success. I was there in the beginning on Mintpal, I can tell you.

What is NGO?
Non governmental organisation. Think Red Cross, Friend of the Earth, Doctor Without Borders, Green Cross (Gorbatchev's environemental NGO)...

Going back to lurking mode until I have something else to announce.

So how about an official bounty post for this online wallet? Could you organize it David? Or beaverslayer just the way it happened with the Android wallet?
I believe the best way is to do use the same process as for the Android wallet: someone (Beaverslayer or someone else) organise it and I act as the 0% escrow.

Regarding the Mintcoin Fund, I will post the amended paper they requested tomorrow

Regarding the Android Wallet, the dev already donated with the premine. Plus, basmterdam just donated 5 millions today.

Donations, Android Wallet

Regarding Mintcoin being, I can name at least two high-PoS coins supposedly dead and which are making a comeback (right now) after several months (a quite a good one, by the way).

Finally, good enough anonymity is impossible with any Bitcoin forks (including Mintcoin except by very kludgy hacks or a relauch (à la CAI/CAIx) - no, DRK is not anonymous enough, it is actually very easy for any intelligence agency to get information - maybe even more than with plain bitcoin.

Oh, one more thing: is there any technical difference between USD and EUR? No. This is what they are used for which matters. Always remember that.

When compiling
Code:
Makefile:356: recipe for target 'GrowthCoin-Qt' failed
make: *** [GrowthCoin-Qt] Error 1
Can you published a Linux binary or tell me what is wrong?
I have this error at make time

What I did:
Code:
cd ~ && git clone git://github.com/iamunick/growthcoin && cd growthcoin && qmake-qt4 growthcoin-qt.pro && make
(go to home folder, get the source, go to the now-created growthcoin directory, prepare for compilation, compile.

Any idea?

John Eden did not handed access over to Tranzz? Pity. That's why for monero we deliberately created the ANN with a dedicated, shared account.
Quote from: Eric S. Raymond, The Cathedral and the Bazaar

Tranzz, how can I compile from source by cloning (not by wgetting the tar.gz)? There is no .git file? I'd like to just use pull to get the latest version.

Thank you.

David with the latest beta release 1.999 you should not need any addnodes at all. Try it out and see if it works.  It does for me.
Thanks.

I tried to compile, with no luck

Code:
cd ~ && git clone git://github.com/bottlecaps-foundation/bottlecaps.git && cd bottlecaps && qmake-qt4 bottlecaps-qt.pro && make && ln -s ~/bottlecaps/BottleCaps-qt ~/Desktop/CAP
(go to home folder, download the source, go to the right folder, prepare compilation then compile, create a shortcut name "CAP" on the desktop)

It stops at qmake-qt4 step (I tried with qt5 too - I am on Arch Linux, if that helps)

Any idea?

@David
Try to put only that one in your config:

listen=1
addnode=cap.nodes.btcrypt.net:7685

I had the same problem but these in my Bottlecaps.conf solved it:
addnode=46.105.118.226
addnode=84.200.17.249
addnode=72.52.231.153
addnode=50.117.78.242

addnode=173.192.180.226
addnode=144.76.33.10
addnode=23.251.65.46

I kept only Dexter's code, only PressF1's code, both code, both code plus my original code  (below). None of them work
Code:
listen=1
addnode=23.251.65.46
addnode=24.249.152.169
addnode=46.105.118.226

addnode=50.117.78.242
addnode=62.32.16.8
addnode=64.251.188.32
addnode=69.10.44.115
addnode=69.147.229.226
addnode=72.78.100.7
addnode=72.52.231.153
addnode=84.200.17.249
addnode=89.200.138.143
addnode=92.5.104.102

why aren't exchanges actually minting? is it included in the protocol?  Shocked

of course centralization will be gained by such a bank but i think there are still a lot of people who will still use their own wallets.

the idea is just a centralized web wallet. no lending or selling financial products. 15-20% interest rate annually is already more than any bank can offer.

Exchanges don't mint because it would create a fractional reserve. If everyone wanted to withdraw at once, they couldn't because coins would be reserved for the minting process. This would cause issues.

it's the only reason? what do you mean by reserved for minting?
in the wallet the coins are available for transaction. except for when they're being staked. but they are not staked for long and then become available for transactions. i don't think that this causes much problems. worst case you get a message "you're coins are being staked right now, wait x min before you can make a transaction". or am i wrong?

Minting means a lot of complication because it reduces fungibility (coin age) and works bad with hotwallet. The main issue it technical, I'd say

A mintcoin bank is a good idea and the fact that Reddit likes it goes the same way. It could even be like "5% of minting goes to the server cost and Mintcoin Fund".
Our present list of developpers is:
mintcointeam
Paspi (congratulations on your progress!)
Kergekoin
unek (?)
Some people I've forgot?

guys, beside the android wallet is anything going on? any PR campaigns? what is/are the devs up to? any thoughts on adding anonymity features? they seem to be fancy right now.

It should be hard to implement
But it's novel Let a person very curious
Will be handy If we can implement it is very nice
 Grin
PR campaign is the Mintcoin Fund. I made significant progress on it today. Unfortunately, the French Administration is closed until Monday.

Perso, je garde tous mes mintcoins, ne serait-ce que parce que ce fut une belle aventure pour moi. Je préfère ne pas faire de pronostic, je continue juste la création du Mintcoin Fund.
