1581  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live Problem on Windows on: August 10, 2019, 10:31:54 AM
Electrum is risky as after hearing so many members losing their coins due to fake popups, I'll never choose it. Till now nothing wrong has happened with Ledger Nano.

Even if you updated to a fake version, your coins wouldn't be stolen. You have to review every transaction on the in-built screen. You would notice right away if something was wrong. Electrum offers far many more features than Ledger Live and the phising method you mentioned doesn't work anymore if you have the latest version.
1582  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Questions about Multi-sig with Hardware wallets on: August 09, 2019, 08:30:39 AM
1.) How do I recover the multisig wallet in the event that I lose access to the computer where the wallet is stored? I.e. if the computer was wiped and I didn't backup the wallet, would the wallet, tx history, utxo set be derived deterministically from my 2 hardware devices if I were to setup a new multisig wallet on a fresh install of Electrum?

As long as nothing happens to your hardware wallets (or both mnemonic phrases to be more precise), you will be able to recreate the wallet in Electrum. Transaction history and UXTO will be fetched from the node. Why don't you give it a try? Create a new wallet file under a different name to see how it works.

2.) If I lost my hardware devices but know the seeds and restore them on different devices, would they be valid as signers?

Yes, but you might need to recreate the wallet if you use, for example, Ledger instead of ColdCard.

time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)
1584  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The Lightning Network FAQ on: August 08, 2019, 09:54:20 PM
The range of valid nice values is from 19 (maximally nice) to -20 (not at all nice). htop tells you what nice value is assigned, possibly top will too

Isn't it exactly the opposite? I looked up this command on a few websites and they said that setting it to -20 makes the process the most favorable. Thanks for your suggestion. I have already contacted Zand_ and we might give it a shot along with neutrino.
1585  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware wallets OLED Display Vulnerability[Trezor One, Ledger Nano S/X, etc.] on: August 08, 2019, 06:33:08 PM
I use the USB that came with the wallet and not any other USB cable so I am still safe right?

Yes, you are. Anyway, in Ledger's case, you don't have to worry about it when using a wallet normally. The only thing that theoretically could be obtained by an attacker is your PIN code. People who want to generate a new seed or restore the old one, should connect their wallets to a wall charger or use the built-in battery (Nano X). It's very unlikely that you will be targeted now. I would not worry about it.

Does it worth the time and the energy to start again with a Raspberry PI? (I have it, I won't use it for anything else, and I don't want to sell it, so if it won't be painfully slow or useless, is there any reason why not to play with it again?)

Using a Raspberry Pi is kinda a bumpy ride. It works well for most of the time, but sometimes, it slows down for no reason. It will be usable if you don't mind waiting another 30 seconds from time to time.

If it's OK to start a node on Raspberry, which one would you recommend?
Is neutrino a working solution now (it was in a really beta state in 2017), or I should attach a HDD to the PI with the blockchain, downloaded previously with a PC, and start a full node?

Most tutorials out there are made for LND which is the only implementation supporting neutrino. Neutrino seems to be working fine since Lightning Lab decided to use it in their mobile mainnet Lightning Network wallet. There's also another light client called Breez available on iOS which also uses neutrino.

Tak, cena? Czy morzna odebrac w Warszawie?

Myślę, że 400 zł (najlepiej w BTC Wink ) + przesyłka to uczciwa cena. Nie mieszkam w Warszawie, więc pozostaje jedynie wysyłka.
1588  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How safe are my funds? on: August 07, 2019, 04:31:38 PM
Can you point to any resources that can help me with the signature verification if I do decide to upgrade?

This short guide seems to be accurate. If you need any help or encounter any problems, feel free to post here. Check Electrum changelog from time to time in case a major vulnerability is fixed in an update.
1589  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How safe are my funds? on: August 07, 2019, 04:25:27 PM
Are my funds safe as long as I stay away from any phishing scheme?

Yes, your funds will be safe as long as you don't fall for the phising you mentioned. If you decide to update it then download it from the official website and verify the signature just to be sure. However, there is no need to do so if you don't use your wallet on a daily basis.
1590  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [Eclaire mobile wallet] Can send, but not recieve on: August 07, 2019, 07:09:51 AM
Can anybody help me understand why this is the case? And how can we set it up in order to be able to send funds between us?

If you fund a channel then coins are on your side of the channel. You won't be able to receive money over the Lightning Network unless you spend some coins. You have to free some space in the channel (some coins have to be on the other side). More detailed and easy to understand explanation can be found here. There are also services which open a channel to you for a small fee. In such a case, you would be able to receive payments.

Have you seen my LN FAQ and the basics of the Lightning Network? I might not reply you for the next few hours.
1591  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Help with electrum on: August 06, 2019, 08:02:52 PM
The recipient is also saying its unconfirmed. What now?

You have to wait until the transaction gets confirmed by miners. It might take some time because the current recommended fee is 11 sat/byte. Don't worry, your transaction should be confirmed within few hours.
1592  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Criticisms of the Lightning Network on: August 06, 2019, 07:16:16 PM
My Eclair client makes backups on Google Drive, and I've never paid them directly (only with my privacy).

It looks like you have misread my post. Bitcoin Lightning Wallet is the one that charges users for backups. More information can be found here.

does it require storing the full blockchain to run a full LN node? If so, any cheap VPS won't qualify (the cheap VPS I bought recently has 25 GB only).

No, it doesn't. If you choose LND then you can use built-in neutrino which is a light client. The Lightning Network node itself doesn't use many resources. We could set it up even on your VPS.
1593  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Criticisms of the Lightning Network on: August 06, 2019, 07:05:28 PM
Few client i've used in past (mainly on testnet) have default 144 blocks (1 day)

I made a small assumption here. It's still 144 blocks by default, but it is extended to 2016 blocks when the user enables receiving payments over the LN. You are more likely to lose money when the other party had coins on their side in the beginning.
1594  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Criticisms of the Lightning Network on: August 06, 2019, 06:07:14 PM
It's great, but user might get their funds stolen if they don't use watchtower & realize it after earlier state of money flow/balance could be broadcasted.

Eclair Mobile sets the timelock for the remote uncooperative close to 2 weeks which is plenty of time, especially if you take into account that most people keep their phones constantly connected to 3G or 4G networks (unless you live in the US where data plans are expensive Wink ). It's also possible to have an LND node on a VPS and a Zap app on a phone which makes sending and receiving payments much easier without a risk of theft. Spark is an alternative if someone uses c-lightning.
1595  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The Lightning Network FAQ on: August 06, 2019, 05:29:03 PM
Yeah, but i have my on-chain channel and i first need to send the coins to another LN address and just after that i can start to receive, in the case of making a node i can start to receive immediately or i need to send coins first too?

Once you fund the node's on-chain address and decide to open a channel, your coins will be automatically moved to a new multisig address controlled by you and the other party who accepted your proposal. After a few confirmations, the channel will become active and you should be able to send coins over the Lightning Network. You won't be able to receive payments unless you spend some coins or ask someone to open a channel to you.
1596  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Criticisms of the Lightning Network on: August 06, 2019, 01:05:59 PM
This is relevant, user will lose funds if  his mobile phone having LN channel states crashes

Both Eclair Mobile and Bitcoin Lightning Wallet allow user to backup their Lightning Network channels. The former allows creating local backups as well as encrypting and uploading them directly to user's Google Drive account automatically. As far as I remember, the latter asks user to pay for its backup service. It might have changed, though.
1597  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: passphrases in electrum wallet on: August 06, 2019, 11:38:28 AM
So if I moved my coins to a new bech32 would the recovery seed from the original trezor wallet nolonger work?

It would still work, but you would be able to access those coins only through Electrum or any other wallet that supported Trezor devices and native SegWit. We don't know when Trezor is going to support bech32 in their own wallet.

Also do you need to be using bech32 to use replace by fee. As I dont see that option in electrum with the p2wpkh-p2sh wallets....

No, you can stick to nested SegWit (p2wpkh-p2sh). RBF is not available in Trezor wallet; you have to use Electrum at the moment. What version of Electrum do you have? If you update to the latest one then it should have RBF turned on by default. If not, go to Electrum settings and enable Replace-By-Fee.
1598  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: passphrases in electrum wallet on: August 06, 2019, 11:01:37 AM
There was an option to choose full segwit support but if I had chosen that option would the wallet be the same wallet and have loaded with the history and correct balances?

No, you would have seen a different wallet. Trezor does not support native SegWit in their web wallet, so I doubt that you have ever used it. You can switch to native SegWit if you want. Your addresses will start from bc1 and you will save a little bit more on fees. However, some services don't suport sending to bech32 addresses (native SegWit) and you won't be able to use Trezor's wallet to see the balance since they don't suport this feature yet.
1599  Economy / Lending / Re: LoyceV's Legendary Little Lightning Loans on: August 06, 2019, 09:04:22 AM
More likely the same on how LN works based from my understanding.
(Loyce channel —> sent 10,000 sats —> Asu channel)
- Small Fee
- Instant
- Without broadcasting their transaction on blockchain.

Am I right? or I’ve missing something that I don’t know on LN Cheesy

Actually, it's a little bit more complex Wink You would be right if Bluewallet's and Loyce's nodes were connected to each other directly; meaning that they would have a channel in which both of them had some coins on their sides. In such a case, there would be no fees. However, you paid a really small fee. This means that your transaction has been routed by some node which is connected to both Loyce and BlueWallet or a much longer path was found.

Have you seen my LN FAQ and the basics of the Lightning Network? Feel free to post your further questions there.
1600  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: C R Y P T O S T A M P with BITCOIN (solutions? thoughts & questions) - HELP! on: August 06, 2019, 08:34:35 AM
What do you think, would be the estimated actual costs to fund 1000 adresses with 10K Satoshi? How can I calculate this?

Try playing with sliders on this website. You will probably use regular (legacy) addresses. Outputs are the addresses you generate. Also, don't forget to look at the fee rate. It increases from time to time, so you will have to divide the estimated fee by it.

And how can I fund all adresses in one transaction?

Electrum allows users to include multiple outputs by entering multiple addresses and amounts in the Pay to field like this:

Code:
Address 1, amount
Address 2, amount
Address 3, amount
...

All the addresses have to be in separate lines. Otherwise, it won't work.
