FWIW, you can search for the corporate status of Xwaylab here: https://delecorp.delaware.gov/tin/GINameSearch.jspIt looks like the registration was done via this online corporation factory: http://www.incorporate.com/business_structures.htmlThe paperwork is up to date. With no offense intended to zhaotong, if this corp was just formed by a minor who (as I understand it) is a foreign national on some $99 website, I'd question the actual validity of the corporation itself. A minor can basically disaffirm any contract, saying they didn't know what they were signing. MtGox's legal concerns are legitimate. In Delaware, any corporation must have a registered agent. You simply can't incorporate elsewhere other than "a $99 website". Also, all the personal information is held by the registered agent instead of the state office. It's the partner's responsibility to ensure my eligibility to commit and enforce a contract, not the state's. In most common business law around the world, the company is the legal entity, not the person setting it up. Zhoutong might be under 18, but that doesn't stop the company having directors and shareholders who are over 18. Also, as an employee (as distinct from the company), they are an agent of the company. (I am a qualified Chartered Corporate Secretary among other things and deal with this stuff reasonably regularly.)

Oh my god, you've killed Kenny - (Realsolid?)
I like how Mr RandyFolds gets the special mention for the WoW episode. Plus, steampunk mining rigs - might have to design one of those.

And what currencies? Terms of Service?
Currencies are shown on deposit or withdraw page - you can select any currency shown there. Terms of Service is... where all are, at the bottom in the footer on every page. It says, "Terms of Use" =) Thanks.

CryptoExchange put me off because I couldn't find out enough from their pages (like fees and transfer methods) so didn't follow up.
One of the menu tabs is called "Fees" and in the "Funds" tab the first item is "Funding Methods." How did you not find that? Maybe it was simply the design and layout. Yes, there is a brief page accessed from the dark grey label on the light grey background. And what currencies? Terms of Service? The trade fee is presumably on both sides. When I was looking some weeks ago, I didn't see enough to encourage me to open an account and transfer funds to test it.

From the other thread
<quote>I've talked internationally with many foreigners through chat, pm, IM, etc.
Never once has UTC ever come up. It's more like, "What time is it where you live?"</quote>
Wow? Really. I talk to people all the time around the world, usually limited to ten different time zones, and compete in competitions where all the times are UTC (which is the actual standard rather than GMT). I have no idea what CST is nor would I ever need to. Is that like pacific or mountain time or other versions I'd never use?
So, 10 p.m. CST, scraped in by 2 hours vs another guess in Thai local time that covered more of the day. If I split hairs, one is more correct than the other.

I tend to agree with you Shakaru. Pretty accurate asessment. I have yet to have any issues on CampBX, but I use them the least between Tradehill and MTGox, so I don't know how their support is... TradeHill is, in my experience, a little slow in support issues, but not to the point of complete ridiculousness like MTGox, thankfully.
+1 I don't think I've had a Gox problem actually addressed properly, but dealing with Tradehill has been much easier and they have even contacted me about things before I raised a problem. The Intersango site works well, but I don't have much there so limited experience. I've had a lot of fun over on "World Bitcoin Exchange" playing with AUD and haven't had any problems there - I like their statement generator. Other exchanges have been good and bad, and some are gone. CryptoExchange put me off because I couldn't find out enough from their pages (like fees and transfer methods) so didn't follow up. I need to read more into CampBx because of the positive press. (but being outside US, I'm restricted to wire transfers and unless I'm doing big-ish transactions, the banking fees are pretty terrible).

So, what was the fundamental mistake msin made? Do you expect people to obtain a physical key before creating an account? Just curious.
Sounds like he got phished (or similar), not Mt. Gox responsibility to protect users from their own incompetence. The question was more posed to Litt who appeared to take a dismissive attitude to MSIN and their competence. Yes, it could have been a phising email (I received one this morning from mthox.tk). Perhaps the better question would be if MSIN has a record of his emails and could check - similar to another recent thread where someone acknowledged they were phished. BTW - if someone wants to hack my MtGox a/c I have 0.89 BTC there - I don't trust them to hold funds, but that's just my opinion.

Fairly standard reply. Glad I'm not relying on cashing in my euro or USD with a government. I wonder what they would get if they turned up to the federal reserve and said, "here, I'm cashing in my $100". ___________________________________________________________________________ Dear Patrick, The Wikimedia Foundation, as a donor-driven organization, has a fiduciary duty to be responsible and prudent with its money. This has been interpreted to mean that we do not accept "artificial" currencies - that is, those not backed by the full faith and credit of an issuing government. We do, however, strive to provide as many methods of donating as possible and continue to monitor Bitcoin with interest and may revisit this position should circumstances change. In the meantime, you may wish to view alternative methods of donation at http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Ways_to_GiveSincerely, Heather Wikimedia Foundation Fundraising

I have read several threads like this, and was wonder if people should start putting in different currencies. For instance, if I want to pay in Philippine peso rather than USD, will they take it? What about North Korean, Congo wherever? Some of those currencies are less tradable than bitcoin. (Their arguments about maintaining charity status are pretty silly.)
Maybe we should really piss them off and say we want to donate gold and diamonds.
Edit: sent them an email with the above sentiment. Hope they have a happy christmas getting addresses from people at their street appeal if anonymous donations are such a problem for them as a charity.

I have, had $1k stolen from my MtGox account (via BTC withdrawals). I will never use them again and I recommend others use an exchange with better security. MtGox is responsible for the great BTC crash and I can guarantee you it will happen again, and everyone will lose a shit load of money again.
I think you'll be hacked again. Seeing how you don't seem to want to learn from your own mistakes and not having taken all security measure possible for you such as yubikey, it seems likely.. Just saying.. So, what was the fundamental mistake msin made? Do you expect people to obtain a physical key before creating an account? Just curious.

Just doing some hunting - is there a "terms of use" for Gox? I couldn't see it. Pretty crummy for the so called #1 exchange.
If it's based in Japan, then what good would legalese do for you? Use at your own risk until something better comes along. There's lots of ideas floating around, but mtgox is here and now. Legalese would be fine, even if in Japanese. I will not be back there until the end of March, but that doesn't matter. I know where they are located.

Now the forum will be slightly better without a selection of particularly useless posts (like this one).

lol thread
Who would invade? The US is broke and pulling out of Iraq and anywhere else they can will save them precious dollars, and pretty much most "west" countries are up to their eyeballs in debt too. The only real reason for the wars like desert storm (1990-91) was oil, and that is still really the only reason - to take control of the commodity.
I never understood that argument. Maybe I'm just ignorant or naive, but how does going to war with an oil-producing country help gain us control over the oil it produces? Unless we annex it as part of the US, the other country still owns the oil fields, so what advantage do we gain (with regards to control of oil supplies) by going to war with them? lol - it depends on how cynical you are. But, how much control do you think the locals had when they had been "saved" and then over-run. In the last 20 years a lot of profits in the USA were as a result of rebuilding the infrastructure they blew up. As for annexing another country, the approach that the locals are foreigners to the troops and contractors helps explain the relative value of life. Bush ran an imperial dynasty, the Romans would have been proud (in their day, they attacked Carthage and North Africa for the corn).
