I've been trying to use this crypto exchange but them seem pretty bad at customer support. They disabled deposits for now.

I had a response from their support desk - they are updating some AML stuff this week.

oh, ok.  No regulations.  All risk held by the person lending.  I suggest you read the "lending" section of the forum.  You'll see the competing "banks" and occasional lenders.

thanks.  is there any recommended set up to protect (as much as possible) those lending the money and to a lesser extent, the receiving party that will be paying back the principal plus interest?

i'm thinking i'll have to touch base with a lawyer before moving on an idea i have, but would like as much information walking in as possible.

I wasn't sure what you were really after as it looked like an invite for trolling.

Are you talking about real money, real money as BTC, anonymous forum lending, or OTC/in person stuff.  If you're doing it regularly as a business there are normally tax implications, and taking security tends to be a good idea.  Different jurisdictions have requirements too - such as licenses.

That really should have been  вiткоiи.su

We've been had! According the New World Russian Translation Dictionary, Bitkoin.su translates to It Is Bruno.

An obvious edit, but an obvious edit.

You'll caught the tater! Bruno is Atlas. I think I tripped up when I posted the blue bedroom pic on that other thread. How did you figure it out? We all know that Atlas was permanently banned, therefore Boss, now Jon, had to be somebody's sock puppet. I laughed so hard when at one time somebody here thought it was Matthew.

To be fair, I will prove that Jon and I are one in the same by posting something profound on Jon's account. I may do it in a few minutes, or in a several hours. Either way, you'll know it's me.

~Bruno the Boss~

Hi Il Jon il Bruno Boss.com. If I wear tin foil glasses you look just like him.  If this makes sense, be afraid, very afraid.

He should use servers and a bigger cluster.

1147  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Starfish BCB - Loans and Deposits (deposit rate 1.5%/week) on: March 14, 2012, 07:45:29 PM
I sent 50 btc in deposit. Patrick, pls confirm  Cool

Yes, 50 coins received this morning.  Weekly interest payments will be paid to your notified address.

As some additional disclosure for those interested:
 - Total deposits are currently around 900 coins.  1/3 are paying weekly interest and 2/3 compounding.  Availability will be good until I get to a stage where deposits reach roughly half of the cash I've invested directly.  At that stage I'll simply keep additional reserves on hand.
 - It is public record I have an account with Pirate FS&T (opened 17Dec2011).  Most of my deposits to that account were before I started lending in January and I am not directing deposits to that account as that is not my long term plan.  I am comfortably over the 2000 coin mark there.
 - I do some mining, but I'm not interested in buying extra stuff, mainly because at my house I run out of available circuits and the $20k of stuff I have is enough.
 - And with the trading market largely static, other than a few arbitrage opportunities, I'm not doing much there (i.e. I don't speculate or "hope" for price movements)

Bulanula and I better step lightly...sandwiched in between a bunch of perma-banned users, and all. I agree that our BFL-trolling is probably the driving force behind our becoming Lord and Lady of the 'ignore' status.

Thanks for putting up the numbers, Theymos. Now I have something to aspire to.  Grin

It could be the vodka, but,

If Randy, Mathew and Bulanula all ignored each other, then they wouldn't have anything to read and life would be dull.

(I do really hate Edward50's posts, but I avoid them so haven't ignored him)
1150  Economy / Speculation / Re: This might be the end of the correction on: March 14, 2012, 04:49:53 AM
hmmm

I don't look at the SMA210 when I'm making a trading decision, and I am sure many other do not either.  When the link between chartists and real people is confirmed, then I might take notice.  Until then, stochastic human behaviour beats empirical analysis.
1151  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Used 5970 off E-bay - crippled - any way to fix? on: March 14, 2012, 12:03:15 AM
Could be a paste issue as D&T said.  Could be a VRM issue as they get hot - might also explain the insufficient power.

However, it's now someone else's problem - so that's good.
1152  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTB] WBX AUD for MT Gox AUD or USD on: March 13, 2012, 08:07:25 PM
I recall seeing this a little while ago.  25% is too low, but if you were doing some at 50% I'd be a bit more interested.  Smiley
1153  Other / Meta / Re: [Feature added] Color besides usernames for Ignored by % of established members. on: March 13, 2012, 07:19:18 PM
Hmmm, I see Randy also has that lovely piss stain too (a description that I'm sure will stick).

I choose not to ignore people because, as Bulanula says, they occasionally say something useful or insightful.  Failing that they inject colour (complete with new meaning and a bad pun) into what can otherwise be a dull thread.

I did once ignore Atlas (and variations), but it didn't hide all the new threads and that was more annoying, so I simply took it off ignore and don't read them.
1154  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: {ANNOUNCEMENT} WBX Exchange Frozen on: March 13, 2012, 06:02:54 PM
I think the Orange NSW address you are thinking of is for CryptoXChange's legal registered office address.

The ABN looks like it predates the move to Qld.

The absence of Annual Return filings reinforces a view that the company was deregistered automatically for not lodging annual returns.

However the company was not up-to-date with ASIC paperwork before it started the exchange. Strike 1 to piercing the corporate veil (and thus making Andre personally liable).

ASIC also regulates the provision of financial services in Australia. They love to go after shonky Queensland-based Kiwi get-rich-quick peddlers. And a company called "High Net Worth Property Pty Ltd" sounds like the perfect target. ASIC has powers to ban a director from working in the financial services industry, ban the holding of more directorships, or just ruin a director's reputation.

ASIC can also pierce the corporate veil and go after the director personally.

Although I was a Kiwi working in Australia for a while, I commuted to Melbourne.  I also held a Financial Services Licence, but that was for trading electricity rather than a shonky deal.  ASIC was interesting to deal with, but on the whole the legal framework was pretty sensible.

One of the services on the web is their scam alert https://www.moneysmart.gov.au/scams

Not sure, but it does look like there could be criminal and civil proceedings here.

Those entries all look pretty dull.  I thought he was in Orange (inland NSW).  I have some contacts in QLD.
1156  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cryptoxchange - phone no disconnected, no email replies on: March 13, 2012, 04:40:24 AM
Once again, more issues with Cryptoxchange.

Deposited money online from AUD bank on Sat 3 March.

10 days later, no credit to account.

I have messaged them through this forum and their own help system. on Mon 12 I received an email saying it was taking longer because I had entered the wrong details, however I have checked this on the bank transfer receipt and it is not correct.

As a result I have missed some marked movement, but more than anything this is yet another confirmation that the claims they make of '24 hour transfers' are clearly not being honoured.

I am going to message them today again through this forum to see what's happening. Frankly, this is woeful service.

I've been trying to deposit funds today with no luck.  Help desk request in still unanswered many hours later.  grump grump  Looks like I'll have to wire funds to a US denominated account and lose another 4+% to some bank.
1157  Other / Meta / Re: [Feature Request] "Ignored by # peoples" besides usernames (10 BTC bounty) on: March 12, 2012, 09:40:46 PM

When I first saw the OP post I did not connect it to what has actually now been implemented.  It's a nice feature.  I notice that to get to bulanula standard requires 10 people out of the 950-ish total, so that is probably a fair ratio/number.
1158  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: {ANNOUNCEMENT} WBX Exchange Frozen on: March 12, 2012, 08:08:46 PM
As a note, the supposed company was de-registered in December (4th).  That is actually useful as it means rather than hiding behind a limited liability company structure, the actions have taken place by Andre as an individual and he is personally liable.
1159  Economy / Lending / Re: DoubleIcaras/Alexander Adams Collections Thread on: March 12, 2012, 07:26:01 PM
I also noticed an Icarus (same avatar) also knowledgeable about bitcoins on a similar/related gaming web site.
1160  Other / Meta / Re: People paid by banking elite to troll this Forum? on: March 12, 2012, 03:48:43 AM
I am not trying to usurp the legal tender with something I make in a garden shed.

Really? Because that's exactly my goal. I didn't create Bitcoin, and I don't have a garden shed, but I hope to heat my garage with Bitcoin miners next winter! Legal tender laws can, for the lack of better words, suck it. Granted, I am not going to break those laws. I'll just continue to opt out.

Edit: US justice system != elite bankers

It may not, but why would the system have rules about creating a currency or punish people for creating one? What's the big deal? They are probably better off letting the "loonies" do what they want, as long as they aren't harming others.

My shed leaks, and the power to the garage is pretty poor (plus no network connection).  But your point is nicely expressed.

Did you know loonie is the Canadian dollar?  I don't normally consider myself a duck or crazy.

One of the interesting things mostly forgotten is that many major banks are owned by a distributed group of stock holders.  They might be managed funds, other companies or pension funds, and some of those ultimately pay the retirement income of thousands of people doing "shit" jobs.  Several years back I had shares in a large bank, had some dividend and capital gain and sold them.  They were making $1000/year in fees per customer on average, and I was part owner (so that makes me a scumbag banker).  I have also worked a front counter in a branch for four months before I bailed out of the banking sector because I hated it).

As for FBI or not Secret Service doing the bidding or Corporates, I think that's a little off topic and I thought other agencies would be easier to hire.
