1581  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Afraid to buy Bitcoin in its bearish state? on: May 03, 2022, 05:04:15 AM
Not just bitcoin, but any asset is a best buy during its bearish time! back in 2008, when sub prime crisis happened, a lot of people became a millionaire just by investing in the stock market when it was all time low. Same happened with bitcoin back in late 2018 when bitcoin suddenly dipped after seeing a ATH at around 20k USD. So it's the rule of the market. If you are thinking for long term, bearish market is the best time to enter. Same is happening with BNB and ETH so I believe it is a great time to buy them as well if you are thinking of staying invested for a long term.
1582  Economy / Economics / Re: Market Regulation - Advantages and Disadvantages on: May 02, 2022, 06:07:05 PM
The scope for this question is much much bigger but I will try to summarize.

Advantages of market regulation:
1. Legal framework will be available which will help all businesses and consumers to use cryptocurrency at will.
2. Crypto to fiat conversion will be more streamlined
3. Banks can't make arbitrary decisions against crypto related businesses
4. Will definitely encourage mass adoption
5. Might discourage illegal usage of cryptos

Disadvantages of market regulation:
1. Anonymity will be at risk
2. KYCs will be everywhere
3. More centralized operations
4. Taxes will be imposed

i will add more points later!

1583  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First Bitcoin City & Volcano Bond Failure on: May 02, 2022, 03:04:55 PM
I thing I do not understand, El-Salvador didn't ban dollar or other currency usage. People can still use dollar if they want to. So what's with the protest? The government has given a choice to adopt bitcoin but didn't ban dollar usage.

So it ia quite possible that the protests are being funded by some influential banking lobby. Because if El-Salvador is able to do well with bitcoin adoption, then it will create a great example in front of the world. But if it fails, banking lobby will be greatly benefited and they will have evidence to speak against bitcoin.
1584  Economy / Economics / Re: What crypro / tokens has the most utility ? looks like all are useless on: May 02, 2022, 10:31:31 AM
To be honest, I don't think we need majority of the cryptos to exist. But it's a free market so you can't stop anyone from launching a new coin and hence the market is overloaded with numerous coins without any utility.

I personally handle only four cryptos.

1. Bitcoin
2. ETH
3. BNB (as an alternative to ETH as the gas fee is really high atm)
4. USDT (for trading)

I do have investments in other cryptoa but when it comes to usage, I don't think we need to look any further beyond these four.
1585  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin staking a thing? on: May 01, 2022, 06:36:19 PM
Bitcoin staking doesn't exist! It is not a POS coin so technically bitcoin staking isn't possible. The website you are talking about is basically taking out loan from you and paying an interest against it. If anything bad happens to that website, then you money will be gone! That's not the case with staking. So rather than calling it bitcoin staking, it can be called as P2B loans with all sorts of risks associated with it.

The platform you have mentioned is quite old. But I personally wouldn't recommend you to save your bitcoins with them unless it is a very insignificant amount and you will be all ok if the bitcoins are lost forever. otherwise, please stay out of such investment plans.
1586  Economy / Economics / Re: India Exploring Commercial Uses for CBDC, Says Finance Minister !!! on: May 01, 2022, 03:14:39 PM
That's good for India! because in India, corruption is at all time high, tax collection is lowest, people find legal loopholes to make tax free money etc. With commercial use of CBDC, it will be difficult for the businesses to hide their cash flow and they will be forced to pay taxes. It is very much needed because majority of the small business owners do not pay taxes even if they earn way more than the basic exemption limit. It's just the people who are salaried, always forced to pay taxes. It must change and inclusion of CBDC into commercial space, will make it happen.

Looking forward for it. Only a single community of salaried people should not be taking up the entire burden of India's tax collection. That's not right! I personally hate so see my payslips especially in February and March where 90% of my salary is deducted for tax.
1587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: State currency or cryptocurrency ? on: April 29, 2022, 03:07:18 PM
Well every crypto has it's own usage.

Apart from top 10 cryptos in CMC, rest are pretty useless! In reality, majority of the crypto coins are pure gambling without any use case.

Quote
If CBCD, (I think this is what you are referring as State Currency?) will somewhat be useful for government and it's people to make the life of their population easy transacting with government agencies then why not? I don't think they are comparable though, stable coins and crypto so it's better to have both so you can be flexible.

CBDC will take away all financial anonymity from the hands of the people. Money laundering will become next to impossible because government will be able to track every single transaction through a central location. It definitely provides convenience but at a cost of your privacy.
1588  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The beginning of Fitness projects hype on: April 29, 2022, 02:07:09 PM
Since the success of GMT token (Step'N) few new fitness projects are showing up, today I come across another named FITFI aka Step app, is this the next feeding field for developers? Crypto keeps looking more like a race to make fast money from a hype before it's gone, no wonder we have so many unserious developers today.

There are so many apps now available in the market where people are getting paid for walking, running, swimming etc. Have you ever thoughtwhat is their source of income? It's your data. To make such apps work, you need to provide them access to your location data which they sell to the advertisers. It's all data monetization game!

If you are serious about your privacy, you would rather not install these apps ever.
1589  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: More regulation on crypto developers, altcoins and exchanges on: April 29, 2022, 11:26:15 AM
Bipartisan bill to give CFTC authority over exchanges and stablecoins

Quote
The Digital Commodity Exchange Act would give the commodities regulator the authority to determine rules for cryptocurrency developers and exchanges offering spot trading.

A bipartisan group of lawmakers in D.C. introduced an updated bill on April 28 to regulate cryptocurrency developers, dealers, exchanges, and stablecoin providers, bringing them under the regulatory control of the United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

I am thinking this will be for altcoins and exchanges and not bitcoin. This will not go beyond cryptocurrency developers, dealers, exchanges and stablecoin providers that are in US but there are several of them there and other countries can follow if this is successfully done.

But I hope this will not affect bitcoin in any way.

That shouldn't be bad! I think a global framework should be launched instead of country specific rules and regulations for regulating all types of crypto assets and related services.

Every single day multiple short lived cryptocurrencies are popping up in pancakeswap platform and gaining unrealistic amount in pricing before dying. This should stop at any cost. But such legislations should not affect bitcoin largely.

1590  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATM Installed in Mexican Senate Building !!! on: April 29, 2022, 06:02:29 AM

Kempis, an ardent cryptocurrency proponent, believes that Bitcoin brings financial freedom and inclusion. She hopes that lawmakers will be able to familiarize themselves with the largest cryptocurrency.

I am glad to see that a senator thinks and supports financial freedom of the citizens. That's amazing! In similar countries like Mexico, politicians believe in hoarding money for themselves and use central enforcement agencies to bring down their opposition.

It seems Mexico is slowing changing for bettee. But considering the volumes of illegal drug trades within Mexico, cryptocurrency may become a headache for the police force.
1591  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Legal Tender in Panama on: April 29, 2022, 05:16:23 AM
Panama has been a tax heaven for the rest of the world since a long time. Multiple billionaires and millionaires use Panama to channel out their money to various shell companies so that those can be invested abroad and create fortune for the riches. It's good that Panama has finally added cryptos to the available list of avenues.

Small countries like Panama, El-Salvador, Curacao don't have infrastructure to build factories and can't produce mass employment. This is how they try to make money themselves. Good progress!
1592  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is it always about price? on: April 28, 2022, 07:02:51 PM
Why is it always about price?

Why should it not?? I mean what's the problem in that? Have we reached to a stage where a person can fully live on cryptocurrencies alone? I guess not! So what's the problem in talking about price points? It makes sense from a real world perspective and you can assume your wealth based on a standard parameter. That's what everyone wants. Price point is the biggest factor for any cryptos. The transaction volume and blah-blah-blah doesn't really matter if a price of a coin reaches to zero.

Why do you think stablecoins are so successful in crypto market? It gives the convenience of a standard parameter like fiat and security like crypto. If you remove the price point from a cryptocurrency, nothing else will be strong enough to hold its ground.

1593  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Australia to ban Pokies on: April 28, 2022, 05:12:10 PM

Now, is that fair ?
Abolish the machines altogether?
Why isn't regulation and monitoring not taken into account?
What do you think ?

It entirely depends on the social situation in Australia. If gambling has really become a big social issue, then it's no wonder that government will step in to eradicate that issue slowly but surely. Especially if it is affecting the youth. So I don't see anything unfair in this.

Probably Australia can take Las vegas route instead. Designate an area where all gambling houses will be situated and represent it as a tourist destination. But again, if government can't control an issue, they prefer to ban it.
1594  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon and and how this "dude" could effect bitcoin in the future? on: April 28, 2022, 01:06:41 PM
Elon is not that kind of person whom you can predict. He has 91 million followers in Twitter and he could influence a large number of people just the way he did for Dogecoin. So he can do the same for bitcoin as well. Buy since his company holds some amount of bitcoins, I am not sure if SEC will allow him to do so!

But yes, he can indeed influence a large number of people and adopt cryptocurrency within Twitter ecosystem which Jack was thinking to implement since last couple of years.
1595  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scamsite adkinsbet.com = lucybit.com ? on: April 28, 2022, 03:42:34 AM
After reading how they interacting with customers, I have only seen doing one sportsbook before interacting like this, and that was the scam project adkinsbet.com
Bitlucy is finding arguments not to pay withdrawals, and is operated by de corrupt DT member Royse777, which only got his DT rank because of his friends on the forum.
I am pretty sure that adkinsbet and bitlucy belongs to the same owner, the patterns are exactly the same - with the final purpose of not paying out customers.

Be warned, do not deposit money to bitlucy!

Can you please share evidence? An acquisition without evidence just doesn't make sense to be honest. One operator can run multiple websites and we already have such examples, but that doesn't mean they are scam. Once you gathered the evidence, open a thread in the below mentioned sub-forum,

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0

It is the right place to talk about such things.
1596  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What kind of coin or token will be chosen and survive? on: April 27, 2022, 06:22:54 PM
There is a huge competition between cryptocurrencies, many believe just dynamic and self fulfilling ideas with different properties and a variety of incentives may survive! Others expect fiat money will leave behind reliance on quantitative competition!

I think cryptocurrencies are not able to defeat fiat currencies without changing nations culture and ethics! what do you think?

Defeat fiat?? Was it really the purpose of cryptos? I guess not!

Cryptocurrency will never be able to defeat fiat unless we a global nuke war where majority of the government establishments will be destroyed. Otherwise, fiat's dominance will remain intact no matter how many people adopts it.

So it's not just cultural or ethical change - it's erosion!
1597  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia suspends gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria for failing to pay in rouble on: April 27, 2022, 05:15:03 PM
Russia has carried out its threat to shut off gas supplies to countries that has refused to pay in roubles. It has cut off gas supply delivery to both Poland and Bulgaria. I had earlier mentioned that Russia had threatened to shut off gas supplies to countries that has refused to pay in roubles and now, it has made good its threat by shutting off gas delivery to both Poland and Bulgaria. The EU has responded saying this is gas blackmail while gas prices has increased by 20%. Russia says the move is in response to both countries refusing to pay in roubles while the roubles gains about a percent to the dollar.

Lol! That becomes interesting now! I laughed my ass out when I saw US and UK both imposed sanctions on Russia over its war against Ukraine. Because these two countries are responsible for most numbers of human rights violations in the entire history of mankind.

And now when Russia cuts of gas supply to two insignificant nations, EU started crying. Lol! Too much dollar dominance must be broken at all costs. Russia is playing right!
1598  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fidelity is offering 401(k) investors access to bitcoin on: April 27, 2022, 05:48:43 AM
Retirement planning with bitcoin!! That great! Especially for the young employees who has a long time in hand. It becomes very interesting because Fidelity will mtach the employee's contribution here so it's a benefit only!

People who has a day job with Fidelity, this is your chance to make great out of bitcoin. I wiah my employer provides some sort of bitcoin investment through my provident fund (same as 401k in my country).
1599  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to $DOGE after Elon Musk bought Twitter? on: April 26, 2022, 06:26:23 PM
The cryptocurrency market fell under pressure in the early trading hours on April 25, but a brief spurt of bullish price action sparked after media headlines announced that Elon Musk had reached a deal to purchase Twitter for $44 billion. Right after Elon Musk bought Twitter, DOGE set up a green column of +20%. Not only DOGE but BTC also recovered quickly back to the $40k7 area, making the whole market prosper this morning.

Thanks to Elon Musk, the crypto market is brought back again.

Well, those are short time speculation. Doesn't really mean anything! Elon Musk is definitely the most important billionaire who talks positive about bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. So everyone is expecting that bitcoin or doge will probably make its way into twitter for various payments. But it's highly unlikely to happen.

It's for the same reason why Facebook's digital currency was never seen the daylight. Multiple countries have different set of rules and Twitter being a global platform, it's just not easy to bring in a standardized  crypto implementation. Think about it!
1600  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First African country adopts Bitcoin as official currency on: April 26, 2022, 04:30:19 PM
Not being skeptical but a country with 4.2 billion USD GDP and with 824 USD as per capita income, not sure how they will make use of cryptocurrency. If they are trying to include unbanked population into financial system, that might help to some certain extent but nothing else!

For such a poor country, paying transaction fees of 3% - 8% is not really feasible. Probably they need to adopt LN to avoid this. Let's see how it pans out!
