161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / UNICEF Funding Opportunity for Blockchain Startups on: June 30, 2020, 01:39:31 PM
The UNICEF Innovation Fund is looking to make up to $100K equity-free investments (in USD and/or cryptocurrency) to provide early stage (seed) financing and mentoring to for-profit technology startups that have the potential to benefit humanity.  Applicants have the opportunity to receive a portion of funding in cryptocurrency (bitcoin or ether) through our recently launched CryptoFund. Given the current global climate and a dramatic shift to a digital world as a result of COVID-19, open-source solutions that address critical needs for society are as important as ever.

If you have a start-up registered in one of UNICEF’s programme countries and have a working, open source blockchain prototype (or you are willing to make it open-source) showing promising results, we are looking for you.

This opportunity closes on 26th July, 2020

162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hello everyone! Do you still have confidence in altcoin? on: June 30, 2020, 08:21:30 AM
At present, the market condition of altcoin is not very good, the exchange rate of BTC is getting lower and lower, and many altcoins have been unmaintained. Even if the development team still insists, the price is very miserable! The blow to the entire team is not small, I am afraid it is difficult to persevere. Now there are a few questions that I want to discuss with you:
1. In your life, when would you use cryptocurrencies to shop? We know that people like to use cryptocurrencies in the dark web.Is general life shopping necessary?
2. If you use cryptocurrency for payment, what currency will you prefer to choose and why?
3. At present, the altcoin market is very bleak. Do you think this is a buying opportunity?
4. What do you think is the easiest to implement in Altcoin's future application scenarios and will attract more users!

Thanks all replies

Yes, I still have lots of confidence in some quite number of altcoins such as ethereum, stellar, ripple, neo and lots of others because they have been established, have use case, have been adopted by many users and have stood the test of time.  At least one can have confidence in the top 10 altcoins on CMC
163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beware of fake gold backed tokens on: June 30, 2020, 07:41:18 AM
I'm forced to create this topic today because it's getting annoying how some new developers are creating gold backed tokens on this forum, please listen to me, some use cases are foul play in crypto space and gold backed tokens are one of them, many so called devs are building tokens but they have no proof that those tokens are backed by any gold yet some investors believed them, it's all lies, open your eye people...

The only way I can trust a token that's backed by real gold is if the project is from a gold company, verified and certified, I'm talking about well known real gold companies like

1. Kinross Gold
2. GoldCorp
3. Agnico-eagle mines  e.t.c

These are examples of real life gold companies, stand for the truth and stop promoting or patronizing unrealistic crypto projects

Very enlightened observation.  Recently I participated in one acclaimed gold backed project named Aureaus Nummus Gold (ANG).  I have not really seen the use case of that project but the developers claimed they are gold backed.  More real information about this ANG would be appreciated.
164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Short suggestion and situation on: June 29, 2020, 07:26:16 AM
From what I see in the current situation, I can understand that it is most convenient to make money online from home !! It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. I thought it would take another month for graduation to end and then I would go out looking for a job but now what I see is that I have to make the house my job! So I'm trying to do something online !! And I think this will be suitable for everyone who does not want to sit !!

Join with altcoin is the best.

It is a very good thing now that you know it is possible to make earnings online without physical office, and it is not too late for you realising this.  However, making earnings online is not as easy as you might have painted it, especially when it comes to cryptocurrency.  You have to shine your eyes, makes a lot of findings before you dabble into any online investment so that you won't end up in the hands of the scammers.

166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Oikos a scam project or what??? on: June 26, 2020, 10:07:01 AM
I believe that bounty campaigns get postponed or extended if the project failed to raised money successfully on exchange through IEO but that's not the case with Oikos DeFi project, the project raised fund successfully on Hoo exchange and they extend the bounty campaign for another 8 weeks after extended for extra 4 weeks before, what is going on? Is the team planning to steal investors money?

I want to believe bounty participants of the Oikos project will now know that it is far from being a scam project.  From the update, the team has yielded to the demand of the hunters to distribute the tokens before the commencement of the second round of the bounty.  I know the project has team members with listening hears.  Are you thinking probably I was paid to do this?  Don't mind me, I wasn't paid at all, I just love the concept behind the project, that's all.
167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum transactions not going through on: June 26, 2020, 09:57:47 AM
I tried sending a small amount of tokens yesterday to see if the transaction goes through but it has been 22 hours and the transaction is stuck. Gas price is 15 gwei and gas limit is 300000. What's the min gas price for getting a confirmation? I have seen transactions with lesser values getting confirmed. My txs always got confirmed earlier but now it is stuck.

Though it's been couple of days I did transactions on ethereum block chain, but part of the major challenges was high transactions fees. And it wasn't that ETH price really increased like that which coukd have been part of justifications for the hike in gas price.  This is coupled with the slow transactions, I think the blockchain is facing some hitch and I hope it is resolved quickly.
168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Enough of repetitive projects and old ideas on: June 24, 2020, 07:00:54 PM
Many new altcoins will die in the future because there won't be many investors investing money on them and as we know it we have many scammers here who will keep creating useless tokens and coins, if you are a developer and you think you are serious enough then try as hard as possible to come out with something new and different, enough of repetitive projects and same old ideas

Bring in something NEW or don't bother at all

To me, it is not a crime if an idea is repeated, but must be improved upon.  Repeating the same project or idea without any addition or subtraction is what is not good.  There are many dead projects with good ideas, but probably there was no means of developing them and the likes, they were abandoned.  There is nothing bad if such idea is reawakened and repackaged for better implementation.
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why lots of people got scam easily on: June 24, 2020, 04:57:05 PM
Things why a person can easily get scammed in crypto-world

1. Greed
2. No knowledge about the project
3. Trust

This are the three main reason why they get easily scam
Greed, because there are a lot of promise by the campaign and the developer we easily believe that its true
investing a lot of money in the project that is garbage.
No knowledge also is the second reason because of the trend they just go and invest without any knowledge of the said project
Trust because they trust the people in the project which sometimes pretends that the person is a member of the project
they can easily decieved that once they invest , they will soon find out that the person is just impersonating , and not really
what all expected.

The point is that, for those that are destined to be scammed, there is no amount of precautionary measures you give or recommend to them, they will definitely got scammed.  I remember three of us have once told a friend of us that the project he wants to invest in is a big scam, very visible even to the blind.  Unfortunately, he went behind us and invest. At the end of the day he lost all his money.
170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Emotion management is one of the key to successful trading. on: June 24, 2020, 04:33:52 PM
Trading requires having a solid guidlines and discipline. One of the hardest thing to overcome in trading is emotions because it mostly lead to many losses. This is a bigger problem than trade going against you. An important thing is to  only trade with what you can afford to lose,  accept that trading is not getting a quick rich scheme.  When you deposit money on an exchange, you accept losing it all but also you’ll do your best for it not to happen knowing how much  it will take for you to get that money. Fix your risk per trade percentage  and don't go all in a trade with your full capital. Do not be pushed to increase your trade stake when you are in profit to maximize it or recover your losses. This is the emotion that you should curb to make it in trading.

Exactly, there is need to control the way we react to market situations.  Controlling trading and investing emotions is very important for successful outing in crypto space.  If this is not controlled, definitely there would be lots of wrong investment and big losses on trading.
171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: why is the EOS BLOCKCHAIN SO FRUSTRATING on: June 23, 2020, 08:07:57 PM
I don;t think i am the only one that finds it frustrating using the EOS blockchain. ever since i created the wallet, i have never send any token out of the wallet. Reason been that i did not stake my eos FOR CPU/NET Usage. complains that i always received was that transaction is low to network errors. other platforms has little or no issues sending and receiving tokens while EOS keep frustrating users.

Could this be this one of the reasons there community is so small  Or what... Who else is experiencing same on EOS. lets voice out until something is done.

Highly frustrating.  I got a free EOS wallet through infinito and I thought it was a gift to me.  Starting from opening the wallet is a big problem on its own, very slow in opening. In addition, sending tokens out is another frustrating thing.  When I couldn't bear the frustration again, I just uninstalled the application.

Oikos is a very successful project, and it is far from being called scam.  This is not the first time bounties are being extended and hunters been paid eventually.  The team may have some decisions to benefit both the hunters and the project.  We should also try and consider the long term development of the project rather than the immediate gain.  I am very sure the team is tirelessly working to reward the efforts of the hunters.

175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HAS THE 2020 BITCOIN HALVING LIVED UP TO ITS EXPECTATION? on: June 20, 2020, 08:21:07 PM
Have you checked the old history of the halving in 2016? i may suggest you to check the whole chart that happened in 2016 - 2018 and the pump will not happen instantly. The impact caused by the inflation to the bitcoin will decrease gradually and you can't take the halving will bring instant pump. It needs the time.

Base on the old graph we are still in accumulation  time and we can expect the pump to happen by the end of this year or maybe next year. I know that not all investors don't have that patience so if you don't want to wait that long its better to make a short trade every time there is a big movement on the market.

Judging personally from the history of past halvings, the effect of this year's halving should culminate in 2021 bull run.  This is one of my utmost expectations.  However, I'm having a little fear, if this year's situation (pandemic) will not have a negative effect on the expected bull run.
176  Other / Meta / Re: Posts disappearing on: June 20, 2020, 08:09:54 PM
This is definitely wrong part of forum. Posts that talk about forum itself fit in Offtopic-Meta  part of forum and not among altcoins. What should this have to have with altcoins?   I bet this post will also disappear from here soon.

Exactly.  Each topic has appropriate section where it fits in or could be discussed.  Topic in the wrong board could be deleted too.
177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin is for day trading on: June 19, 2020, 01:47:04 PM
I see that people support that altcoin suits better for day trading, and not for holding. I just don't get why.

That's is not correct.  Everything depend on your purpose.  There are good altcoins with lots of prospects worthy of holding.  It would be wrong to say ethereum is for day trading alone.  If you are a 24 hr trader, fine, but many altcoins can be held for good number of weeks or months and with a good return.
178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Good project since 2018 on: June 19, 2020, 09:46:22 AM
I am not looking project for investment purpose. This is a very general thread about projects which have been launched from 2018 to till now and have a good standing.
It's very unfortunate for us that we don't have much good altcoin projects these days. It has been a while when I last invested in any ICO/IEO, it's because so many projects are there but none of the projects had some good product which took cryptocurrency further good position, at least I haven't observed such project so far for the last 2/3 years.
Can you share 1 project which launched from 2018 and had a good idea and has successfully launched to the market?

I am happy to share a project called Smartfund.  I  was part if it in 2019 and I was very glad I did.  This project really gave me a lot of financial leverages.  I first participated as a bounty hunter, where I was able to get about $400 within two weeks.  Later I invested some amount in it and at the end of the day, I made an handsome amount of gain.  I have never come across any other project like that since early 2019.
179  Economy / Speculation / Re: Halving Bitcoin happens, icebergs melt, the sea turns red. ??? on: June 19, 2020, 09:38:55 AM

Halving Bitcoin keeps approaching. But the iceberg has melted. I see someone throwing away large amounts of Bitcoin. They sell to the lowest prices.
Are there lions that are afraid of donkeys?
Because this is not done by people who have thin wallets.
Maybe the whale wants to dive to the bottom of the sea.
I sleep a day, when I wake up, the sea has turned red.
Could this be alright after halving happened?

Going by the history of bitcoin halving, many thought the same price dump after halving would occur this year, but it was another experience entirely as the price of bitcoin was maintained and even improved beyond expectations after halving.  Many people that have dumped their BTC at a lesser price are probably regretting their action now.
180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much have you earned in one year on: June 17, 2020, 01:02:52 PM
I imagined how most bounty participants and trader who are below the senior rank most especially those who do not know how to choose good/high rewarding projects if they would would have even made up to $1k in the past 1 year. How would they feel if they have nothing meaningful to withdraw at this pandemic period and just looking at their wallet helplessly. How much have you been able to cash out in the past one year.

At my side here, earnings of each year is not stable at all in crypto.  Someone cannot compare the earnings of 2017 with that of 2019 as an investor.  Well, I have not really invested big money like that, but from around $500 I invested last year, I was able to earn $250.  In the other hand, the highest earn I have recorded so far from bounty in a year was around #600 and this that was 2018.
