161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paypal says (David Marcus): Bitcoin is good on: December 10, 2013, 04:05:56 PM
"I really like Bitcoin. I own bitcoins," Marcus said

wow, cool!

To paraphrase:
My company won't be touching bitcoins anytime soon, but I think they are great and I want the world to know. On an unrelated note I just bought a lot of them.

Seem convenient?
162  Economy / Gambling / Re: [0.011 BTC] BTC-P - brand new bitcoin pyramid. Started today!! [Beta] on: December 10, 2013, 03:56:10 PM
So, you are the owner of that site. Can you explained how the site get income to pay people ?

Its a pyramid scheme. Even says so in the OP. Gotta love bitcoin. Only in the bitcoin world would someone start a pyramid scheme and tell you flat out its a pyramid scheme.

If this weren't a bad enough thing to put money into already there is a monstrous service fee.
163  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What brought you to bitcointalk and your interest in bitcoins? on: December 10, 2013, 01:09:54 AM
Decided to finally start playing poker in BTC. Not sure why I waited so long. So much more easier in so many ways.

I can't get the desktop client to work. Says "Cannot connect to server" when I try to open it.

It is just a propaganda.

As far as propaganda goes I think flying delivery robots is pretty good at least.

This never has to work. There is value in just being the company who tried to make flying delivery robots.

Losses are carried forward. You only pay commission over actual profits. If your investment goes down X% in week one and then grows back to your original amount in week two, you can withdraw the investment without having paid a single satoshi in commission.

Yeh, I reread the explanation. Makes more sense now. Only profit over peak matters.

I hate that as well. When you press return to page the text is gone...

Your right, this is a problem. But you can selet+copy the text before you post, just in case  Cheesy

I'm in the habit of doing this every time now. Got tired of trying to post too soon and having to rewrite the entire post again.

Anyone know at what point time limits go down and where time they go to?

The thing that concerns me about this is the weekly 10% off the top with no make up.

Depending on volume, spread of bets, etc its possible for this to be a loser for investors.

Dooglus has what we call a freeroll. No ill will toward him, but I'm hesitant towards this as I don't see any reason the commission needs to be taken out every week or not carry losses forward.

Just to be 100% clear here is the issue. You get 90% of the profits over X time period and 100% of the losses over X time period. Is that a good bet on 10 seconds? Absolutely not.

At what point does it become a good bet? I don't know precisely, but its certainly possible its a time period longer than 1 week.
169  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Used in New Tesla Model S Purchase at Dealership on: December 07, 2013, 06:10:26 PM
They didn't accept bitcoin. What car dealer wouldn't take this deal?

They just processed the money through bitpay and the dealership received USD.

171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is the biggest reason stopping general public from converting to bitcoin. on: December 06, 2013, 11:44:05 PM
The average person isn't putting money into bitcoin because they have no reason to need them, they are fairly difficult to obtain, and they can't understand how the thing even works.
172  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: i'll pay someone 0.015 to buy me a pizza on: December 06, 2013, 09:23:13 PM
25 papa points for .015 bitcoins seems fair.

Could be the first bitcoin to papa points transaction.
173  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: WHAT IS MTGOX DOING WITH ITS LOOP on: December 06, 2013, 07:23:52 PM
I can see that something isn't right, but what is it exactly they are doing and why are they doing it?
174  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I try to sell btc , am I getting ripped off or is this how it is. on: December 06, 2013, 06:37:20 PM
Mt. Gox is no longer the benchmark because they have banking problems and are no longer able to pay their customers on time. For USD bitstamp is the benchmark price now. I don't know about CAD.

If you are going to trade locally then people will keep significant margins. If you don't like that you can always risk it with an exchange.

The price difference between mtgox and the other exchanges is almost entirely because of their problems getting people their money and lack of faith in them. Obviously the gap would fill quickly if those problems weren't there.

There isn't a single good place to buy bitcoins right now really though. They all have their issues.
175  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Be careful folks. Just got hacked, lost some BTC today. on: December 06, 2013, 06:30:03 PM
Definitely need two-factor authentication for sites dealing with bitcoins. Especially if they are going to fire off withdrawals to whatever address you put in. Sorry to hear that happened to you though.

I always thought that 2FA on sites was less secure. That's where the weakspot was from inputs.io

I still don't understand why security tokens aren't more widely adopted. At least for accounts with large sums of money in them.

Say what you like about bitcoins, but you can't swim in them.

Won't be the weirdest thing the casino staff sees that day. That is for sure.

Probably won't even be the only man in a pink tutu they see. At least you have a good reason.
178  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin transactions are a Mexican stand-off on: December 06, 2013, 05:58:44 PM
Transactions are actually easily trackable. If you have them on record stating the payment address you can can easily prove they didn't pay or prove that you did pay.
179  Economy / Gambling / Re: SealsWithClubs.eu | Largest Bitcoin Poker Site | No Banking | Fast Cashouts on: December 06, 2013, 04:12:51 PM
Seals just went down for me. Anyone else having an issue?
180  Other / Meta / Re: BREAKING: BITCOINTALK MODS CENSOR HONEST NEGATIVE NEWS ABOUT BITCOIN on: December 06, 2013, 04:00:49 AM
There are plenty of threads about this issue in the forum. Not surprised they don't want misleading headlines like that in the forum. I wouldn't either.
