As newbie no but you can do this for around 15-20$:

Thanks! Can i post links after recieving a copper member rank?

I think so technically with a Copper Membership you are given the same permissions as a Member except for the personal message limits to prevent spamming. According to theymos
I fixed the *Link removed* thing (which is only triggered if you have less than 10 posts). You have to be wearing your copper membership when you set your signature for the links to not be removed.

If you are only worried about posting links though you would only need to go above 10 posts to prevent this from happening.

162  Other / Meta / Re: Almost automated managing of +60 social bounties at the same time? Tagging? on: May 28, 2018, 11:02:35 AM
I doubt the bounty managers care as they only care about exposure. Probably doesn't warrant tagging as it should be up to the bounty managers to remove people like this if they think it's needed. But they just don't care as long as their name gets out there. I can't really blame people doing this either.

52 bad, 208 unhandled

I don't know which reports are unhandled obviously it was waste of time reporting them.  Roll Eyes
There are few reports marked as bad - but posts are removed, i guess reports should be marked good? Strange.

Anyway, it is good update, I like stats  Smiley

Did the thread get deleted? or maybe you reported them for the wrong reasons but were removed for a different reason? It might of got marked bad but later on the thread was deleted.
164  Other / Meta / Re: New Report to moderator stats ;) thank you theymos on: May 26, 2018, 09:34:19 PM
I had also missed the 'Your report history' link, but I've started to report spam from the Bitcoin Discussion topic 3 days ago (with nearly 0 report count that time). I haven't really paid attention for the number of the reports so close, so I can only guess that the magic number is somewhere around 300 reports, because today I'm over 300 and the 'Your report history' link has appeared. It's good to see which posts were reported in vain...

300 reports in 3 days is not bad at all. Smiley
There does not seem to be any logic for that the report history link not appearing for those who have made fewer reports...

300 reports is very good and I think Bitcoin discussion could do with a new mod! I think there's some logic in restricting who can see in depth stats about reports as I doubt those who don't report much would use it or need it and it would just affect the speed of the forum if it was available to everyone.
165  Other / Meta / Re: Thread to track and discuss "Spam Mega Threads" on: May 24, 2018, 10:55:09 PM
All of the altcoin sub forum is covered in spam megathreads. Here's just a couple of examples:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3375482.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3517288.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3093129.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3296544.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3616972.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3493241.0

Some of them might be considered on going which might bring in some unique answers but a lot of them can only have a couple of unique replies. It's getting out of hand as the altcoin sub forum is so hard to read topics that you might be interested in because they will disappear to page 15 in a hour or two.

You have a right to be suspicious but we can't really prove anything. However I have found another pattern with the users mentioned.

Cazkys posts:

For me which I already tried and tested on to myself is to keep yourself busy all the times. Be it at work or just read a good motivational book. Spending time with your family and with your friends while setting up goals can also be a good start. The people that surrounds you can also help you on times that you suddenly think of going back into gambling. You can talk to them and they will definitely help you since they know you more and are the closest people you can count on.

As well as these (which I can't quote)

Nerobasta posts:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2672799.msg30552875#msg30552875
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2865079.msg29924837#msg29924837
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2217547.msg29334732#msg29334732

They both love to start their answers of with "For me"

Just take a look at their post history and they start of sentences almost identical and post in similar paragraphs.

168  Economy / Reputation / Re: Should selling/buying .edu emails be considerd fraud? on: May 23, 2018, 01:26:49 PM
Looks like the moderators don't consider it fraud or breaking the rules as it was marked bad. I consider it fraud personally and those who are buying it are encouraging it and using it for gaining discounts which is equally fraud in my opinion. Would negative trust be warranted?
169  Economy / Reputation / Re: Should selling .edu emails be considerd fraud? on: May 20, 2018, 03:22:55 PM
Yes, but this is happening on a massive scale and is a minor problem in comparison to some other things that are going on. It isn't really worth it going after it unless theymos wants to start banning .edu salesmen.

I would definitely agree there's bigger things to be worried about but I think theymos should look into this in further detail. Not only is it shady it also clogs up the marketplace from time to time. I've seen 3 or more people offering it at the same time.  I don't mind drawing up a list and whether people want to act upon it is up to them.

There's also some very high ranked members currently vouching for the service and therefore promoting fraud.

I just reported one to see if the moderators are interested in removing them.
170  Other / Meta / Re: Posting a translation of another member's post. on: May 20, 2018, 12:16:18 PM
Both should get a reward it's up to you whether you give more to the original poster or not. but translating also requires effort and should be considered a high quality post as long as it's translated well. It's probably better if the native language of the translated text be responsible for rewarding merits. You could check the translated text against google to make sure that it hasn't just been translated from there.
171  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Is the Ivory Tower proof we shouldn't restrict other sections like the I.T.? on: May 20, 2018, 11:46:52 AM
I think its better to have less posts with more quality than it is to have more posts with some quality posts. Alot of the time the good posts get missed when there's too much noise around where as in the first scenario at least you will see all the quality posts.

I like the idea of the Ivory Tower ( but not the name). I put quite a bit of effort into promoting it when it arrived, but without much luck, so I backed away for a while. I'm glad to see that it's picking up, and I hope that people don't start to think of it as a merit earner - that will bring in the spammers.

I agree the name should be changed.
172  Economy / Reputation / Should selling/buying .edu emails be considerd fraud? on: May 20, 2018, 11:41:26 AM
You've all seen the members selling .edu emails to get various different discounts from online stores. Namely Amazon Prime but registering a edu email normally requires you to be in a university although these people are selling hundreds of .edu emails which suggests they are doing the more blackhat ways which requires you lying that you are in full time education or using an existing students name in higher education.

I don''t think this is something which should be encouraged and probably should be disallowed per the forum rules because fraud is illegal in every country. What do you guys think?
173  Other / Off-topic / Re: QUESTIONS ABOUT ONLINE WALLETS??? on: May 20, 2018, 11:33:49 AM
You should never trust anything which is easily taken down via a DDOS attack or compromised. If the database is compromised you risk losing all of your coins.

You should practice good security and just use a desktop wallet yourself. You'll then learn the ins and outs of using a wallet and won't have to reply on anyone else when it comes to handling your money.

Trusting a web wallet is centralized because they are hosting your wallet on a online platform which goes against the very thing Bitcoin stands for.
174  Other / Meta / Re: [paid spamming] Newbie Bump Bots post and delete thousands of posts per day on: May 20, 2018, 11:23:05 AM
Can't Loyce just be made a mod already?
This might be a good decision. We do need more patrollers to take care of the newbie spammers problem.
We could even do this for a month, on a trial basis. Smiley
Thanks for the endorsements Cheesy
It's been suggested by others too. The only Mod-position that I've seen, was for Politics and Society, which is a board I'm not really interested in.
But I don't think being a Mod is a position to ask for, so I'll just drop subtle hints that I wouldn't mind having a nuke button Wink

My 4 lists of spammers are still not nuked. I'm not going to report their posts, some don't even have posts.

Someone is going to have to make the thread for you then Wink

I know the current staff work hard but they are simply overworked with the constant spam. Looks to me that you got enough endorsements already. I don't really care who becomes the moderator but I think it's obvious that someone needs to be appointed.
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO][VAR] 🐬 Blue Frontiers - Sustainable floating islands 🐬 on: May 20, 2018, 11:18:51 AM
Elwar I know that you claim that you aren't hired by Blue Frontiers but surely they have a Representative that could ask all the questions and engage with it's community a little more?

If you are telling you truth you are literally doing someones job for them and not receiving any benefit at all.
176  Other / Meta / Re: New Report to moderator stats ;) thank you theymos on: May 20, 2018, 11:13:56 AM
I don't even have a link to my report history on this account for some reason. I do on my main one but there's obviously nothing there since I haven't needed to report anything in years.

I see that all the homograph attacks I reported are note handled yet. Why is that? Do you need more proof for those?

They take time to look into. It's best to include the link to the post they copied which makes things much easier. Otherwise staff have to spend time searching for it and they can't always be found easy.

I don't have a report history or the amount which is good, bad or unhandled so I don't think it's ranked based. I've made a very small amount of reports though so I'm guessing the more in depth stats become available once you've reported over a certain amount of posts.
177  Other / Meta / Re: bitcointalk.org site stats (not for theymos, he have better ones) on: May 20, 2018, 11:07:32 AM
It would be nice if theymos could release a lot of the information which is being collected by forum users recently and have it update automatically every 2 weeks like the trust.txt download.

178  Other / Meta / Re: Posting a translation of another member's post. on: May 20, 2018, 11:03:42 AM
Should at the very least have a link to the original non translated source. I wouldn't punish those who are translating without the permission of the op as long as they provide a source. It's courtesy to ask permission though so should be encouraged.
179  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Blockchain and Data Protection laws on: May 19, 2018, 11:50:19 PM
You couldn't store personal data on the Blockchain and for that reason the Blockchain isn't really suitable for a voting system.
Voting for election with blockchain is difficult since we need to rely on 3rd party (such as government in this case) to ensure only eligible people can make a vote, only can vote once and can't create another "account".

But for your problem you mentioned, it can be solved by :
1. Require user to prove their identity is match by password or sign message with linked address/public key when user register which contain vote option.
2. Ensure people can run full nodes with open-source client to ensure the blockchain isn't redo by bad people for public permissioned/permissionless blockchain or 3rd party run several full nodes at different location for private blockchain.

In the end, the weakest security/link always human factor Roll Eyes

1. This wouldn't work. An address/public key can be generated by anyone unless it's linked with a identity. If an identity is linked with an address then and is hosted on the Blockchain it would break data protection laws.

2. This would work. It would be in the general interest of the public to ensure that there's no corruption within the electorate system and would benefit from hosting nodes of their own to ensure this.

Blockchain has many uses but I'm afraid that the voting system just isn't going to work as you intend. First of all even if you could come up with solutions with the answers above you would then need to get it accepted by the government which I think is well away from their interests.
180  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud data storage service with blockchain. Is it possible? on: May 19, 2018, 11:45:17 PM
I don't think the Blockchain is good for a cloud data storage. For one a typical Blockchain will only store text. Therefore anyone using the service would only be able to store text and not files or anything. You could alter the Blockchain to store different types of data. but personal information among the Blockchain wouldn't be good as the blockchain is public and any information stored on it would be available to anyone who happens upon it.
