161  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many of you have 24/7 Bitcoin Nodes? on: July 23, 2014, 05:39:56 PM
I was just wondering how many have setup nodes yourself and how long you have been running them. Nodes make the Bitcoin environment more secure for anyone who doesn't know.

According to the site https://getaddr.bitnodes.io/, there are only 7480 full nodes (which is a very low number IMO) with most of them concentrated in the US and Europe. Sad

For something with over 8 billion dollars in market cap. , its definetly low number of nodes.
I never leave client opened, just sync it and go away, since there is no reward of any kind for nodes , atleast that i know of.

If something should change about reward distribution, i believe there would be much more nodes.

I also think that there should be some sort of incentive for running bitcoin nodes, i think i read it somewhere that this was being proposed to the bitcoin dev team, but i cant remember where.

163  Economy / Services / Re: New tld domain bitcoin.services on: July 23, 2014, 02:52:03 PM
I would suggest you hold on to it for a couple of months cause as of right new tlds don't have much value, as some of the users above me have said.
164  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Tracking on the web on: July 23, 2014, 08:12:36 AM
Its also now going to get a bit harder to avoid being tracked as there is a new technique where a website instructs your browser to draw an image which is unique to every computer.

Problem with this is that, there is no known way,(yet) to block it.

I haven't heard of that one yet; do you have any source where I can read more about it? Still, I have to say, it seems unlikely that current security addons wouldn't be able to stop that.

An edit to my earlier post: Its seems it was actually introduced in 2012 and lucky for us there are a couple of addons that block it,
privacy badger and noscript.

And its known as canvas fingerprinting

Beginning in 2015, internet users who persistently file-share will be sent a series of warning letters explaining that their actions are illegal. However, authorities will take no further action if the user continues downloading the material.

167  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Armory or Electrum? on: July 22, 2014, 04:31:30 PM
If you are looking for the most secure and feature rich wallet then get armory. No other wallet has the encryption features armory has, for protecting your private keys.

Shout outs  Grin to Alan Reiner (brilliant mathematician) , for making this wonderful piece of software.

179  Economy / Services / Re: WE PAY FOR SIGNATURE EVEN MORE. UP TO 0.0016 BTCs PER POST. W on: July 16, 2014, 09:54:56 AM
I have a dispute with updown.bt, I made a couple of posts from may 27 to june 4 . He never confirmed that i was using his signature, i asked him a couple of times for confirmation but he never replied and yet he used to come online.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=600446.msg7030219#msg7030219

As you can see i was one of the users waiting for confirmation:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=600446.msg6982808#msg6982808

Resignation:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=600446.msg7123641#msg7123641

I don't know if he will actually ever pay me for those posts but its ok , i just hope he gets to pay everyone else.

my thoughts about this signature campaign:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=656074.msg7859734#msg7859734

Never confirmed is the keywords here.

Did you inform him that his application is declined?

Only confirmed members can be paid, that's written in campaign rules.

Yes i know that it says that in the rules but my issue is that you completely ignored my posts asking if i was confirmed and yet you used to come online and all you could have done was send me a simple "no your not going to be enrolled in this campaign" .
