Makes sense, so maybe I just need to wait and cross my fingers then. Is it possible to tell if it's even worth mining on my pc? I've been mining for over an hour with no shares.
You need good ATI GPU card and mine Scrypt coin

hmm doesn't seem like it. what does that mean, can i just not keep up? I'm only CPU mining on a laptop for the fun of it, is it just no use for me?
Edit* It's a p2pool if that helps.
You mining Bitcoin, with 4MH/s it might take half hour to find share with difficulty 1. But if stratum has higher difficulty, then longer

Only merged mined ones. At most pools you mine Bitcoin together with NameCoin

Lost forever.
You can never say if the Bitcoins are lost or someone just holding em tight (never sending the Bitcoins)
Right but my broken devices I know no one will send them because I disasembled my Galaxy III personally and sold the parts. the Logic board shorted out and those coins are lost forever. So I guess its RIP 0.023 BTC......your future purchasing power will be missed.....well the bright side is I limited the supply a little and made out remaining coins a little more valuable lol Your right, but dont worry, about 1,000,000 BTC is estimated to be lost forever. You might search for threads how early adopters losing 1000+ coins years ago

Buy bit coin for cash,, want cash back, Sell Bitcoin!!!! Pretty easy!
So far it works this way, but Im afraid not many will want cash anymore when all could be bought with BTC when Bitcoin become mainstream

I'm interested to hear good experiences had with companies like Coinbase. I am looking to gamble some pounds and wondering who to use to make my first BTC purchase. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks!
There are better exchanges for UK. Im from Europe and use bitstamp instead

The fifth order ($1M) will not be soon, if ever. It all depends how the Bitcoin developers can solve the problems later: 1) blockchain size 2) number of tranactions / sec

Amazed there is no bankcoin as an altcoin.
Now that would be ironic!
As the unused alt coin names slowly running out, next might be BankCoin indeed

I have lost more bitcoins trying to time the market than anything.
I was going to try to time the crash this time but started running into the same uncertain market conditions as usual.
It went well in March when I just held through the whole madness. I have returned all of my BTC to my wallet and will continue to hold through this madness.
Bottom and Top picking is a dirty business. In fact it is impossible to predict. Thats why spread your buy/sell orders

Just out of interest, what could go wrong with BTC? Hacks, government regulations etc, if anything would bring it down, what would it be? Its always fun to think of both up and down sides.
Government, anti-bitcoins laws might be approved in future because of fear of laundering money

Well honestly it's your fault for being so gullible, OP.
Believing others is natural, most have to learn hard way, myselves included. I lost few buck over internet as well few years ago, but not since then

It's unlikely and almost inconceivable to get to $5, though, because the main benefit of having a large, distributed network is that it takes a sizable amount of people to sell out to drop the value. This is inertia of a stock. You can better believe for the number of people panicking and selling off there will be an equal or greater number of people holding on to it, and that's why I can only see it dropping 50%, maybe 75% at max, in true market free-fall conditions.
I believe drop to $5.00 could only happen if anti-bitcoins laws are approved because of fear of laundering money. Bitcoin would still be used but there would be almost no demand and extensive supply thats why such low USD/BTC

and the remaining 6500 he is now showing at 266.9.
All he wants is cashing out at this level. I guess no move upwards until he is done
Good game. The trickier part will be to get the USD out of MtGox He wont get it out of MtGox, so new wall under 260, cool

If you are interested in buying the site we will publish further information in about 2 weeks. Meanwhile please stay patient. Seems strange closing the site and then selling it. Selling it while working should get better offers
