How can you have a 4/10 list when I was on the 4/9 and haven't received anything yet. I'd appreciate a response.

I was on 4/7 and haven't received anything and there are people going back since before that. Basically I was here since this thread was started. My issue began April 3rd, approximately 7 days ago.

Why does it have to be so difficult to get a Bitcoin?
1602  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Official Newbie BitInstant Support Thread (Active Customer Support) on: April 10, 2013, 11:55:37 PM
You may see some of the PP and Bitstamp issues resolved later tonight.  Another CS rep is working on this...  Cheesy

You may want to recommend to management that they implement ITIL standards in handing support requests in the future...  Leave solving the actual problems to a 3rd level support, and allow the lower levels to concentrate on keeping the customers happy by fixing their issues.  What I mean by this is, whatever the root cause of a PayPal/BitStamp/MtGox issue is fixed at the root cause level by the 3rd level support... they focus on fixing the problems the company comes across, which are found because of the issues customers report, whereas the customers issues are things like "I don't have my money/coins", which is a different problem than "PayPal froze one of our accounts" or whatever (which is a company problem).  This allows the lower levels to quickly solve your customer's issues (by whatever means necessary, manually transferring funds, etc...) and allow those who are 3rd level subject matter experts to focus on making it so that the issue doesn't reoccur for others.  If you suggest this to your management, then you will be giving them the solution to their current problem...  irritated customers because of over-extended support who may wind up not being customers in the future.  That and a real support/ticket system that has a UI available to your customers.  All the customer cares about for their issue is their issue, not the companies problem.  The customer will however care when choosing in the future who to use, so you do have to have the 3rd level support to resolve the problems, but you can do that in the background without affecting the customer's issue.

Okay, done with my soap box, hopefully URSAY you get something helpful out of this you can take to your management Smiley.

Thanks!

They should hire you.
1603  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC falling sharply!! Why? on: April 10, 2013, 08:51:10 PM
Try CampBX!  We have been running without any major lag issues.

I look forward to using CampBX just as soon as you have:
* Something like BTC-E codes to move USD around
* LTC/USD trading
* BTC/LTC trading

What about USD/LTC?

I don't want to have to spend BTC to get LTC.

1605  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1 Million Bitcoin users = Only 10 bitcoins each on average? on: April 10, 2013, 03:26:40 PM
It is, you're an early adopter. I would be surprised if even 1 million people have Bitcoins right now. It's going to reach Napster and Facebook levels in about a year. So next year at this time it will be 20-30 million.
1606  Economy / Speculation / Re: How long does it take for bitcoin value to double?? on: April 10, 2013, 03:22:30 PM
Demonetization in this way is impossible. It will cause hyperinflation of fiat too and in result BTC will devaluate together with fiat in the end. But some people will loose all money while others will get fortunes, it will also destabilize markets. Goverment will simply ban BTC. All this ride started one or two days after legalizing BTC (i have stupid guess that this move was to spite China) and might stop like this.
Why would government ban Bitcoin but not all the other risks in the market?

1607  Economy / Speculation / Re: London Hedge Funds moving into Bitcoin on: April 10, 2013, 12:58:56 PM
I don't understand what exactly Exante need Max for, other than advertising. Is that the deal? I'll go on tv and tell people about your hedge fund for a 2% fee.  How does RT not ban this crap.

Max is actually very connected in that world. Look at who he sold his companies too and look at the companies he started. He's actually one of the first to do virtual currencies and if I have he right he owns some kind of patent.
1608  Economy / Speculation / Re: London Hedge Funds moving into Bitcoin on: April 10, 2013, 12:57:17 PM
Check out this Bitcoin is being offered as an investement on Exante.eu for London hedge funds (this is the Malta hedge fund people have been talking about):
https://exante.eu/press/news/266/

Minimum account size: 100,000 Euros.

Max Keiser claims there is $1 billion lined up for this:
https://twitter.com/maxkeiser/status/321897445422399488

Looks like the big players will be coming soon!

This "bubble" still has a long ways to go!

Can you explain for a noob like me what this would mean? $1 bilion will go into bitcoin market? Or 100.000 €? How would it change the exchange rate?

$1 billion is to be spent buying bitcoins.

At the current market price that would be about 4 million BTC.
I doubt that many people will actually be selling.
So if that happens the price will go *way* up.

If we assume they can buy 5% of existing bitcoins (very optimistic IMHO) with that $1 billion then the price has to go up 10x at least.
That would result in a price of $2500 per bitcoin.

ugh.... hedge funds managers are not that stupid. And if you believe crap from Max Keiser, you're an idiot

Not all hedge fund managers are on some great global team elite. They all have different agendas. Some are not happy with the current system just like you aren't and just happen to be hedge fund managers.
1609  Economy / Speculation / Re: London Hedge Funds moving into Bitcoin on: April 10, 2013, 12:55:47 PM
Yeah, well, we will see about that. My mind isn't made up yet about Max Keiser, but he's a TV personality and that's almost always a bad thing. The last thing we need (and is perhaps inevitable at this point) is the rise of Bitcoin demagogues.

re: Bitcoin demagogues.  Yep, can be bad.

re: Max Keiser.  It's hard to make one's mind up about how 'sensational' versus 'principled' Max is.  If you look at some of his one-on-one interviews you can truly see that Max is very well grounded in, what he considers to be, fundamentals of fairness, equity, impartiality.

So....  I believe Max Keiser is more so a force for good.  Could he be responsible for inflating Bitcoin expectations?  Sure.  Though, I still think Max serves an important role.

I've emailed him at some point in the past. He's for real and actually believes in what he says. Also look at his actions, the businesses he has started and who he has on his show. He's no Alex Jones media personality, he's been complaining about the bankers since before the economic crisis began. I used to listen to him in 2004 back when I used to smoke pot all day.

1610  Economy / Speculation / Re: The real winners will be those who amass mountins of "worthless" coins on: April 10, 2013, 03:39:40 AM
To me, Devcoins are basically the original premined altcoin, except they claim premining as a feature. I don't get the appeal.

Now, BBQCoins, or Testnet BTC, or something similar? Those I could understand.

Are Devcoins charity? How exactly can an investor make a profit buying Devcoins trading in BTC? Why trade in a valuable coin for a worthless coin?

If we could buy Devcoins with dollars it would be different entirely.

https://products.butterflylabs.com/50-gh-s-bitcoin-miner.html

What we need is something like this. For those of us who can get $2000 or so we should be able to get something like 50-gh. If it scales up to as much as we can afford then after we pay back the cost of the basic rig it would just be a matter of upgrading.

1612  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: So I wired 1000 dollars to Mt Gox this morning on: April 09, 2013, 10:31:29 PM
Mt Gox says it will take 2-5 days to receive my money.  Will I be able to afford even one bitcoin by then!?!

Have a look at the chart below, currently Bitcoin has a 9% daily growth rate.

Or this
1613  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: How to file your taxes with Bitcoin Income? on: April 09, 2013, 09:49:46 PM
Go to HR Block with your blockchain screenshots and tell them to file your taxes accordingly. If you mined 100 BTC last year prepare to give Uncle Sam around 13 BTC. May vary depending on your state.

Maria 2.0

Does HR Block even know what Bitcoin is?
1614  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: How to file your taxes with Bitcoin Income? on: April 09, 2013, 09:49:00 PM
Does anyone do their own taxes on here?  Im asking because I don't have enough income, to get any return, so I can't justify using a tax accountant.  I'm a student claimed as a dependent, with minimal income yielding $0 tax.

How would I report bitcoin mining income that was transferred into cash?  Not bitcoin trading income (capital gains).

Is it possible to subtract hardware costs and monthly electricity costs, defining a net profit of 0.
Is it possible to depreciate hardware costs as not to deduct all of the possible savings in 1 tax year.

And the current estimated value of BTC has nothing to do with anything until its converted to fiat right?

You want a 1099 form and you fill out all income on that. You call yourself an independent contractor.

I've made money before as an independent contractor and it's fairly simple. Get a 1099.
1615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mBTC: At what point should the community use this as the default unit? on: April 09, 2013, 09:38:15 PM
If/when BTC hits $126 USD, the price will be 0.00992.

Quite specific...

How so? If I had to guess, at present, most users on these forums expect 1 BTC to surge past $100 by next year at the absolute latest. To see it go beyond--driving the relative fiat prices to smaller and smaller amounts--isn't much of a stretch.

Edit: To me, it's a question of user-friendliness to ease uptake.

LOL these posts are funny now. It's a year later.
1616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Future Bitcoin millionaires - will you cash out when you hit $1M? on: April 09, 2013, 09:31:08 PM
If it hit $1M then it means bitcoin is the currency of the world, and that there would be nothing to cash it out, everything would be traded in bitcoin  Cheesy

I don't think he means an exchange rate of $1,000,000 USD per BTC but rather if someone personal holdings were worth $1M.  Like if you had $1M worth of gold would you sell the gold?

How exactly would you even determine your personal holdings? If 1 BTC isn't worth 1 million then it's hard to know how much an entire persons holdings are worth when you have alt currencies, and Bitcoin cryptostocks, and the mining.

It was an individual question.  You don't know how much YOUR Bitcoins are worth?  No problem send me your wallet.dat by email and I will email you when your Bitcoins are worth $1M.  Problem solved.
I only have a few so they will probably never be worth $1M.

The millionaires will hoard coins till their last breath.

Why cash out? So we can be paying taxes? College loan debt? And have higher rent?

The smartest thing to do is never cash out. Just buy and become part of the Bitcoin economy permanently. Start working for or running businesses which accept Bitcoin.

Time is money.

Anyway I want to say Ursay is probably doing the best he can. He's not responsible for whatever this problem is, his job is simply to interact with us on behalf of the company. The majority of Bitinstant is not responsible for this either, it's probably just a few guys who make a heinous error combined with the increase of demand.

Can we all agree to refrain from taking our anger out on Ursay? Whoever is to blame it's not the new employee.
1620  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Official Newbie BitInstant Support Thread (Active Customer Support) on: April 09, 2013, 06:42:55 PM
I now realize it could be weeks or perhaps months before I receive my Bitcoin.

By that time the Bitcoins could be worth tens of thousands of dollars if not hundreds of thousands. Just so long as I get exactly what I paid for, I'll be happy even if the delay upsets me.
