Looks like both are ready for their big fight this Sunday. Magsayo is very confident and issue a warning for Vargas not to run in this fight. And then Vargas says that Magsayo's team added more in their side of training, maybe they acknowledged his talent.
So tomorrow it's going to be the final weigh-in, hopefully both can make it to the limit.
And then the day after, it will be the fight that all Filipinos are waiting for. If Mark will be the next one to carry the flag.
I just hope that height and reach advantage of Rey Vargas won't be used tomorrow so we can see a brawl which i think is advantageous to Magsayo because he is used to this weight category but i doubt Rey Vargas would take the bait. Yup, Mark Magsayo is now the only reigning Filipino champion, if he loses tomorrow, we will be zero in the record lol so let's just hope that he will defend this belt while entertaining the boxing fans. Have already pulled the trigger for Magsayo here, if he will win via KO it would be break-even for me as i put some few dollars on that option too.

Day 9 Ranking

Day 8 Ranking
Matinding depensa ang pinatikim ng Beermen kay Mikey Williams kaya hindi nakaporma yong pambato ng Tropang Giga while Junemar Fajardo dominates the ballgame with his MVP numbers.

Good luck, this game is really close, SMB had a double digit lead but TNT were able to come back and bring the SMB to a single digit lead only. We are now in the 2nd quarter, hopefully TNT will make a big run and Mikey Williams will have a good 3 point shooting. Mikey Williams only has 2 points, not a good sign. Not a good first half for Mikey Williams but definitely he will come back in the second half but the thing with TNT is that they miss the services of Troy Rosario and Brian Heruela because of injury so TNT is in trouble here if the guns of Williams and Pogoy won't click in the third and fourth quarter. Congrats to those who bet on the over 190 as this is a high-scoring game I think, I'm prepared to lose my bet ticket on this one.

Picks for tomorrow:
NLEX Road Warriors SMB Beermen

What a very thrilling game, ROS was +4.5 and they only lose by 4 points, so they covered the spread.
This team is not gonna make it to the playoffs, they keep on losing so I don't trust them anymore. Congratulations to the Boltz for winning the game, after tough losses, they are now finally back to the winning path.
Thrilling indeed, lucky for me i got the -3.5 Bolts on the pre-live betting. That missed free throw by Quinto brought misery to those who took the opening spread of -4.5 for the Bolts. Hope that this win by the wards of coach Black would boost their morale and win more games for them to secure a spot in the quarters. On to the second game, after trailing by 12 points, the Dyip is now on the driver's seat with a slim lead going in the the third canto. Another thrilling game to those who bet with the spread of 14.5 huh.

^ Yes, I also check and the other betting options is already available.
Magsayo by KO is 5.00 and Vargas 6.20. And then looking further, it seems that sport bookies are looking for this fight to go to distance.
On the other hand, some of us might think that the fight will not go to distance. We are looking for Magsayo to convince with a huge win by knock out.
Magsayo by KO @5.0 is very tempting/attractive in my opinion and i would put some money on that option for sure but i'm more inclined that this would go the distance because both fighters would be cautious or i would say respectful to each other so their guards must be high all the time. 6-0 on the poll in favor of Magsayo, seems like the latter would be the runaway winner in the survey lol.

Hopefully, there's major change now that the coach is not anymore a Filipino, or coach Chot to be specific. Coach Tab is the best coach of Gilas so far, if not with him, we will never see the potential of Romeo in international games and the Gilas team as a whole.
I agree, coach Chot Reyes' dribble and drive offense seems not effective in the international stage so changing coach as well as the system is timely but it may take some time to know if that is effective or not but i think whoever the coach now will be having a hard time winning some games in the FIBA World Cup, PH is just good on the SEA league, no offense but that is what i have observed. BTW, we have games tomorrow after that Sunday break. ROS vs Bolts Dyip vs Gin Kings Will the Dyip continue running with their losing streak on?

Four days before the fight, the bookmakers still have Vargas in the favorites, the gap is certainly not very large, I don't know, I want to bet on Magsayo, I probably will. Maybe the OP should do a vote here in the topic it would be interesting to see how the votes are divided? Poll added mate, thanks for the reminder though it's a little bit late but i think it will still serve its purpose to know who amongst us here favor to win this fight. The gap in the betting odds is not so significant that I consider this an even fight, odds-wise. I'm good with the ML for Magsayo but will still wait for the other options and if ever the odds for Magsayo by KO is attractive then i will threw some dollars into it.

Next game Wednesday pa pala kaya medyo matagal pa makabawi. Oo nga kabayan ang tindi humula nitong kabayan natin kung may spare lang ansarap sundan nung mga taya nya malamang kahit paapno maganda ganda outcome, medyo mahirapa magbasa ng mga game ung tipong akala mo dikit biglang aalagawa, buti kahit papano yung pick ko last time tumama naman kala ko sablay nanaman yung SMB ko eh buti umalagwa na sila nung last quarter at na-cover yung handicap. Parang professional na, dapat i ban na to. haha..

One thing about Nietes is that when no one expected him to win but in the end, he emerged victorious lol.
Although Ioka were defeated last time, Nietes will be the underdog on their rematch because of age? I think there's something wrong with the bookies if that's the factor they are seeing. Everything is now depend on boxer's age rather than overall performance. I'm now more excited to see Nietes winning this fight, maybe much better if via TKO. I want to see Nietes defeating Ioka infront of his Japanese countrymen. That's a big upset and that will be a great win for our PH representative. Age in boxing is synonymous with performance, i mean 40 years old in boxing is too old and we expect the performance of that boxer to diminish if he reached that age even the great ones like Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. If we see an upset, it might be because Ioka did not perform what is expected of him not because of the brilliance of Donnie Nietes, just my thought.

Another vote for Donnie Nietes. He is not anymore a young guy but I'm sure he still has the power to defeat his opponent. At the age of 40 years old, he has a record of 43 wins with only 1 defeat, so I believe that's a decent record and he can win. https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/215599Good luck, I hope Nietes will be listed as an underdog. There's a 95% percent probability that Nietes will be listed as an underdog in this fight if the odds comes out due to age difference. Nietes was one of those champion boxers that used to train in our hometown, i saw/followed his career and i can say that age have really affected his performance as he slowed a bit in his last fight though he still won that one but this rematch i doubt he can end up victorious. One thing about Nietes is that when no one expected him to win but in the end, he emerged victorious lol.

Day 6 Ranking

The difference in this rematch is that 33-year old Ioka is now the defending champion. Nietes is now 40 years of age. And Ioka will defend his belt in his home turf in Japan.
Kazuto Ioka win-loss record: 28-2-15 KOs Donnie Nietes win-loss record: 43-1-23 KOs
Yup, that first fight was pretty close, that jab of Nietes really made a difference in the judge's decision. That was an amazing win by the former ALA pug considering that fight was held in Japan if i'm not mistaken, as we all know that Japan had a reputation of protecting their homeboys but that was not switch on in that fight lol. Again, this rematch's output would be different from the first i think, because of age factor. Nietes was inactive for so many months due to pandemic and their stable was defunct so i think this might be it for Nietes, his last fight or he may be made a stepping stone for upcoming prospect.
