741  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Devin Haney vs Vasiliy Lomachenco - May 20 on: May 30, 2023, 12:04:05 PM
Wow... Never expected Haney to be such a rotten guy. This tweet only proves that Loma was better that evening. Such people, who always scream like that, that they are best, and dont want to rematch or ever fight again show how scared they are lose their belt. Same was with Lopez. He was also same douchbag when he won and refuses to fight again and said he is the greatest, and lost the belt in next fight.

With that tweet, I don't think that a rematch with Loma would happen and with his situation with Top Rank, that scenario of not having a rematch got worst. That statement is not for winners to say, agree Loma got his numbers that night that might be the reason for his rant on tweeter which might have a downside on his career as surely he lose some fans with his performance then this statement of gratitude on tweeter.

A real champ is ready to fight anyone. If Haney thinks that he really won that fight, then he can beat Loma one more time, and one more, and many more times. But Haney seems to be only a champ in tweeting Cheesy

Haney tries to follow in the footsteps of Mayweather but I think he is so far behind the Money. When Mayweather fought Castillo and won via controversial decision the former immediately give Castillo a rematch and there, he proved that the belt rightfully belonged to him.

For Haney, if he thinks he is better than Loma, even if they fought four times, he would still be victorious if indeed his skills and talent are way above Loma so why the talk?
742  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: May 30, 2023, 10:43:47 AM
I also like the plan of PBA to consider Bay Area Dragons to take part of the upcoming conference with imports. Not just specifically for the Dragons but any foreign team should do. If by any chance, it's even more entertaining if 2 foreign teams can possibly accommodate even that was a hard task to do.

I think that it's already a done deal that Bay Area Dragons will be back in the PBA for this Commissioner's Cup, have read in my social media feed that some PBA teams will have a game with the Dragons overseas so this is a welcome sight for those OFW's that love watching the PBA live.

I remembered June Mar Fajardo when SMB got eliminated by the Dragons in the Semi-Finals of the Commissioners Cup last season that he wants the league to repeat the invitational of guest teams.

I also remember that one. That's because when imports are playing, locals will be forced to elevate their games as to match their game so in the process the PBA players will also improved their skills and also the coaching strategy of the PBA will improve as they will adjust to the style of the guest teams.

The league though must be clear now to the rules and terms of import restriction for the foreign team as if we remembered, Coach Yeng Guiao got surprised when they faced the Bay Area Dragons with a new import, Nicholson, as supposedly the team will play with no import as Powell got sidelined because of injury that time.

I think this was already ironed out and no surprises about this issue come Commissioner's Cup.

Miami Heat +2.5 @ 2.05 vs Boston Celtics

Game 7 na, do or die sa parehong kupunan. Naku napaka exciting tong laro na 'to.

Quote

744  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Beterbiev Vs Smith AUG 19 2023 SATURDAY IBF / WBC / WBO LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT Title on: May 29, 2023, 11:14:17 AM
That is indeed obvious, as Callum Smith is no longer an undefeated boxer after his loss to Canelo. Perhaps Beterbiev is trying to find the right timing before fighting Bivol, as he is aware that he is not getting any younger. Although Beterbiev is known for his knockout power, he is already 38 years old, while Bivol is only 32 years old. Age is certainly a factor in boxing, and typically, at the age of 38, fighters are considered to be approaching retirement age.

I'm the 8th voter and yes, there's no other vote other than the "Beteriev by KO".

Callum Smith did survive the Canelo onslaught by this time around against the monster, I don't think he will still stand until the final bell sounds. Maybe this is some sort of a tune-up for Beterbiev before his promoter Uncle Bob finally agrees to a fight with Bivol for the unification. He may be 39 or 40 at that time so no more reason for Top Rank to still hold on to Beterbiev as he will be very old at that time.

If indeed Bivol vs Beterbiev will push through, this would be interesting as it will be dubbed as "Battle for Russia's King"  Grin.
745  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Devin Haney vs Vasiliy Lomachenco - May 20 on: May 29, 2023, 10:50:52 AM
But if it's possible on his terms he should do a rematch with Loma, this fight did not confirm his status as a pound-for-pound fighter people are questioning if he really got what it takes.

Loma should take a rest first, I know it's a heartbreaking lost for him, but it's better if he will just clear his mind first before fighting again. And maybe the best options for his is to let Stevenson vs Haney happen and then fight the winner.

That's why the pound-for-pound list remains at its status quo  Grin, even Haney knew that he was defeated on that fight (no offense to Haney fans here, just my view).

If the rematch would take more than a year to happen then it would be to Loma's disadvantage as he will be a year or two older which would not be practical because if Loma will lose people will say that it's because of Loma's age not of Haney's skill defeating him.

For me, a rematch should happen right away to settle the real score.
746  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: May 29, 2023, 07:53:37 AM
This is for Filipino boxing fans in this forum.

Tomorrow, PH time, Melvin Jerusalem will make his first WBO minimumweight title against Puerto Rican Oscar Collazo.

What makes this fight interesting is that Jerusalem is placed as the underdog against Collazo, who by the way has only six fights as a pro boxer. On the interview, Jerusalem said that he is motivated by the underdog tag and I'll bite that  Grin, so I'm placing a bet for him ML @3.51. Hope he will retain the crown and continue the streak of upsets done by Filipino boxers.

Unfortunately, I have to be the breaker of this sad news, but Melvin Jerusalem lost the fight as he was stop in the 7th rounds by Collazo. Melvin did start great in the first four rounds, but it seems that Collazo is just taking his time and trying to read Melvin early.

As it become move evident that Collazo is the more powerful puncher between the two and for 3 1/2 rounds he started to battered our very own Melvin. And as tough as he is, Jerusalem says "no mas".
~snip~

Collazo on the other hand was tested right away when Golden Boy took him. He beat another Filipino, the battle-tested former WBO champion Vic Saludar and then went on to the eliminator before facing Jerusalem. Fun fact, Saludar also won the belt from a Japanese and then lost it also to a Puerto Rican who then lost his belt to a Japanese whom Jerusalem beat. So maybe the trend will repeat again. Cheesy

Yeah i saw the highlight of that fight where Vic Saludar knocked down the Puerto Rican fighter with that body shots and i thought that may Jerusalem could do more than that and maybe beat Oscar Collazo but things turned the other way around, and that's boxing, styles makes a fight.

TBH, this Oscar Collazo had some talent where i think that he could defend this belt for a long a time. Sad to say that there's not much interest in the boxing community in this weight category, i mean boxers in this division are paid way lower than their bigger counterparts.

Mukhang tulog pa lahat.  Tongue

750  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Garcia Vs Lara AUG 05 2023 SATURDAY WBA WORLD MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP on: May 26, 2023, 09:38:56 PM
What makes this fight good to watch is they are just about even their record even their last 5 fights are also even and they have the same style,

Lara has beaten 4 of his last 5 opponents, Garcia has beaten 3 of his last 5 opponents, and the knockout ratio is almost the same, I have Garcia here winning by close decision his age will carry him in the latter rounds and he proved himself to be a good finisher he had lasted and gave Spence a good fight and this experience will carry him.

Same here, Garcia is the younger fighter of the two so that makes him a slight favorite i think but for the bookies, that remains to be seen.

TBH, i have not seen Lara fight live and don't know his style much but seeing the tale of tapes, no doubt for me that he will be the underdog, 40 years old is old enough in boxing unless your name is Manny Pacquaio.

Good thing that Garcia is still fighting and this time he is fighting for a championship belt which seldom happens to a fighter, i guess that's what makes of a good promoter in Al Haymon.

Los Angeles Sparks VS Las Vegas Aces SCORE 85 - 94 - WIN

The Los Angeles Sparks were great at the start of the game until the Las Vegas Aces got a great chance to turn the table in the 2nd half surely this is a formidable team to mess with Candace Parker got 10 points, Chelsea Gray got 16 points, A'ja Wilson has a double-double of 13 rebounds and 19 points while Jackie Young got 30 points winning this game,

Lost my bet on this game, at the end of the first half the score was 46-36 in favor of the Sparks. Bet for the Sparks +1.5 @1.8x as i thought that the Aces won't catch up (actually i don't know the players on both teams) as it's a low-scoring game and a 10-point lead is hard to catch up in the WNBA but when go back to see the score, damn the Sparks lost hehe.

Bottom line, still have a lot of catching up to do to be more acquainted with the players and teams in the WNBA.
752  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: May 26, 2023, 11:23:27 AM

753  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Josh Taylor vs Teofimo Lopez on: May 25, 2023, 11:20:09 AM
Maybe not overrated but when he move up in weight class, that's where he will have to face tougher opponents and that's what happen to him at 140 lbs. Very close but not impressive win.

But the good thing is that since he is with Top Rank and the champion right now is with the same promotional banner, he was given instant gift by Bob Arum to fight for the belt against Josh Taylor. And then we will see if Teo is really and elite or just maybe a good boxer in this stack up division.

That's the good thing about Bob Arum, he likes to give opportunities, or shall we say, he likes to prioritize his boxers with heavy hands, I mean knockout artists because that kind of talent will draw crowds, unlike defensive boxers which is boring to ordinary boxing fans.

Maybe Lopez's camp chooses Taylor because the latter is inactive for more than a year and ring rust would set in and might be a disadvantage for him because training in a gym and fighting in a ring are two different things, just hope that this will offset Teo's disadvantage to Taylor's experience.
754  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: May 25, 2023, 10:38:24 AM
1) The possible return of Bay Area Dragons

- I like the idea of having foreign teams again in the PBA as that really brings much tougher competition in the league while giving chances to those low to mid-tier teams the good experience of dealing with a foreign team. I hope, if not conflict with the Dragon's schedule, they can get a chance to participate again in PBA.

I like the idea of the return to the PBA of the Dragons as a guest team or may they add some more teams to serve as guests because last time around, there are a lot of fans watching the game as they saw new faces and new talent live on the floor which is money for the PBA and the most important part is that PBA players will be banging with imports which in return could hone their skills to another level which is beneficial to the PBA players when they are playing in an international competition like FIBA.

Have not seen the game between SMB and NorthPort Phoenix in their pre-season game but saw the scores and found it interesting that TR7 was playing and scored 20+ points, would this be the start of his comeback bid in the PBA or still he will be riding the bench come opening season?

755  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: May 25, 2023, 10:28:59 AM

It's been a week pero wala pa rin silang confirmation sa email at application mismo.

Matanong lang kita if you don't mind, lampas 21 years old ka na ba?
757  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Devin Haney vs Vasiliy Lomachenco - May 20 on: May 24, 2023, 10:41:48 AM
What's there to expect? I mean, it was already expected that this fight will have a much lower PPV buys compared to the mega fight that Garcia vs Davis did recently or any fight that Canelo did. Although it's a much awaited fight for most of the fans especially because Lomachenko will be seen again and many have been asking if he was already at the sunset of his career and then there's Haney that has been known to be boring because of his style. I bet at least 300k was their target.

300k-500k might be their target as seldom we will see a fight that exceeds 1M PPV buys after Manny Pacquaio and Floyd Mayweather's era.

Have read an article that Tank Davis vs Ryan Garcia exceeds 1M buys which might be true due to the fact that both are knockout artists and Garcia being a social media influencer/vlogger helps in promoting the fight, bottom line neither fighter is a boring one so many are eager to witness them face each other.

That shoving of Haney didn't help to excite the non-hardcore boxing fans to watch the fight hehe.
758  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: May 24, 2023, 10:19:16 AM

759  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Josh Taylor vs Teofimo Lopez on: May 23, 2023, 11:16:25 AM
It's less than 3 weeks before another big showdown of Top Rank happens. It seems like I am not seeing much of the 2 in social media, but maybe I am not following enough of the boxing media nowadays. Both are arrogant fighters so they will make a trend during fight week when both are in New York. Teofimo Lopez the more popular fighter in the US seems silent while Josh said he will retire Lopez.

And it seems like Devin Haney already re-signed with Top Rank. Top Rank earlier offered Haney (win or lose to Loma) a shot at the winner of Taylor-Lopez. So it will add more motivation for both fighters to win since their next show is once again a PPV which means big money once again.

Time flies so fast and before we knew it's already fight week between the two.

Lopez's last fight against Martin wasn't impressive and many thought that he lost that one (including me) so I think this Taylor fight is one hell of a climb for him and if indeed he will successful in dethroning Taylor then I guess money fights will await him in the future including Haney if ever the latter will decide to move up in weight.

I'm more inclined to a Taylor win so that Lopez will be humbled, arrogant kid with only a fluked win against Loma hehe (sorry to Lopez's fans here).
760  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Devin Haney vs Vasiliy Lomachenco - May 20 on: May 23, 2023, 08:34:11 AM
I believe a rematch in this fight is needed. Initially, I thought Haney would be boring, but it seems like he listened to the fans' complaints about him being a boring fighter. He was able to engage in a toe-to-toe battle against Loma, and the young champion showed great durability.

Was not a boring fight because of Loma's aggressiveness, if the latter only countered whatever Haney throws then that could be a snore-feast but nevertheless it was an entertaining fight though the judges ruined the occasion (in the opinion of most not all).

Loma's manager will file a protest but i doubt it would be successful, the best thing they could do right now is to as for a rematch immediately and not bother to protest as it is a waste of time.

Yeah, it will take a lot of time before the decision is announced, and I believe Haney will still be declared the winner. Loma may have won in the eyes of many, but this isn't uncommon in boxing. The public perception doesn't necessarily align with the judges' decision, as they have the final say. Loma should have been more aggressive and aimed for a knockout victory to prevent the controversy that occurred.

Nevertheless, despite the loss, it still proves something, and that is Loma has not passed his prime yet.

And it also proves that Haney is not in his prime yet hehe.

I doubt that he could become a crowd drawer after his recent performance, it even made him appear as if he needed more wins to become a PPV star, he's all just talking and shoving.
