1641  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Woman won $43million but was offered a steak dinner instead of her winnings on: January 11, 2023, 07:11:22 PM
If the Gambling Commission has been involved in this obvious act of denying the woman her win, then it's almost a certain that the case is already lost. It's hard to win against a government entity with this kind of case even though the circumstances on how she was denied the win is absolute clownery. No matter how long this case gets, if the Gambling Commission already put out their decision, that will surely be what the courts will always follow.

Imagine seeing on the screen you win that amount, only for the casino to tell you that the machine is broken and that all they can do is offer you a steak dinner. That must have hurt, and I will surely hurt somebody if I were the woman that won that amount.

I agree, her chances might be higher to sue the casino if the Gambling Commission wasn't involved in the said pursuit but that wasn't the case. It's just too unfortunate that she had to go through with this, that's a good money to start that could've make here life comfortable as well as his family and debt free but she was rejected by her claim. I hope there would be someone who will push her and help her with her case because she deserved more than a steak because it wasn't her fault that the machine randomly malfunctioned.
1642  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Just how bad is the bear market right now? on: January 11, 2023, 05:42:40 PM
Many people think the bottom could be in now, I am hopeful but not convinced. We are experiencing a bit of a relief rally currently. Bitcoin is back over $17,000 & some alts have risen as much as 25%.

I think stay vigilant, keep some cash spare because there is every chance we could still go lower. It’s still so difficult to tell where we are in the market & if the bottom is in. We won’t know for a while.

The thing is, people are just too focus on the market's situation right now and has forgot the fact that this is not the first time it happened, and surely, it won't be the last either. It's just a cycle that has been around since it was created, it may be the longest declination in the history of bitcoin but we're still blessed to have this kind opportunity to accumulate more before the market recovers because it will always recover.

1643  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 11, 2023, 05:16:44 PM
Celtics vs Bulls might be the best entertaining game of all. Two offensive teams, expecting a high scoring game.

Let's see if Bulls' Zach Lavine will continue his good numbers against the Boston Celtics. It's been notable that Bulls fans are really happy with his recent performance where he joined the Steph Curry 3-point party after establishing 11 3s last game. Although LaVine is playing like that, others want to work him on making defense as purely focusing on offense won't take them always to win. But for me, if he's really not good at that, let them focus on his specialty and trust his teammates to do what's lacking for him. It's a team effort, by the way, to win.

But according to rumors, that doesn't change the fact that LaVine has the chance to still get traded before the trade deadline.

As far as the rumor list is concerned, his name is still hot there and not until the trade deadline ends, we can ruled out that possibility.

They got defeated by the Boston Celtics earlier, but LaVine still got a good stats in the game and managed to put 27 points with rebounds and assists. It's just that the Celtics now are quite dominant leaded by Tatum and Brown, they have been dominating since the season have started which is why they are at the top in the league leading both West and East conference.

Anyway, back to the Chicago Bulls. Is LaVine that hot in the trade talks? Care to share some information.

I remember when others are doubting the performance of the Boston Celtics because they established losing steaks before and the notable one is against Orlando Magic which others thought should be an easy win for the Celtics. Those people didn't realize that even a dominant team does have a bad night that might last for several games. Look at Celtics now, maintaining their rhythm again and going strong at .707 above the winning percentage.

Back to your question, yes Zach LaVine is being part of the trade rumor but maybe things have changed now when he is putting up good numbers recently on their previous games. Not just LaVine but other core players of the Chicago Bulls too are being put on trading rumors.

Some teams that are rumored to seem interested in acquiring him are; New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, and Miami Heat.

The same thing with the Warriors, even if they are all healthy and is expecting to be playing well in any given night, there's still a good chance that they will suddenly have a bad percentage in any angle they try. Even the 4x champion is still having a bad night, so what makes the people think that they will really have a good performance every night? I suggest they should think it through and not just basing their performance in a bad night against one of the teams that are tanking.

Anyway, talking about Zach LaVine. Those mentioned teams will literally have a boost to their offense once LaVine will land on their roster. Of all the teams mentioned, I just don't like to see him wearing purple and gold, his talent will be wasted.
1644  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Artur Beterbiev vs Anthony Yarde on: January 11, 2023, 10:01:06 AM
Beterbiev is older anyways, so the strength and reflexes aren't the same as the previous years.

Yarde's camp needs to work on this one. If they can find the best strategy to take this little advantage against Beterbiev, then he might have to get an opportunity to take down his opponent.
Definitely, if they can find some loophole on Beterviev then good, take that advantage, maybe the way he throw his punch or his defensive stance that they can counter and who knows, maybe he can pull an upset.

Yarde needs to be in his best form during this fight if he wants to handle Beterbiev. Yarde needs to have stamina enough to last for a 12-round fight because I believe the strategy is to move and fight smart in order to avoid getting hit by Beterbiev. Beterbiev is now a little slower with less strength so I guess Yarde will try to outbox, and throw counters, and if cornered he needs to hold and use his strength to avoid a close-quarter fight.

I am rooting for Beterbiev to win so I hope that he still has enough to survive a possible early lead from Yarde who's also a big puncher. Yarde will probably get tired of running in the late rounds and Beterbiev will go for the KO.

Yes, he should bring his gas tank in this fight, because Beterviev is known to have not just the punching power, but also to carry the fight if it goes to distance. But if we look at Yarde's physical and body composition, he has a lot of muscle and this could affect him in the later round if he don't know how to preserve his energy. If he doesn't want to do it, then they will have to find a way for him to breath and have a deep lung. So it's either for Yarde to go for broke early because it will be very dis-advantageous for him, as the longer it gets, the more he will gets tired. So it's going to be very hard fight and what is the perfect strategy for him.

If he will be engaged to a toe-to-toe exchange of punches, then he needed to work well with his stamina. If he survives with that encounter, the next few rounds will be tough for him.

like what you mentioned, Beterviev is not just a heavy puncher but also capable to stand till the last round,
and Yarde needs to work on it to make sure that he also has that stamina to fight, else, Beterviev will take
this fight from him.

Dangerous for Yarde to stand toe to toe and exchange with Beterviev, and I don't think he will do that. Look at Butler when he face Inoue, we thought that he will go after Inoue in first couple of round but he folded.

So I think Yarde is smart to do that, he will really need to have a lot of stamina and hopefully he will not be caught with Beterviev power punches. Otherwise it will be over and this fight is not going to distance. Just probably maintain his distance and play defense throughout the fight, although this is also very hard to do as well.

Yarde probably knew that already as it's really not wise for him to stay in-front of the Russian monster who had a vicious knockout punch, but we don't know, maybe Yarde and his camp do have a concrete plan how to engage properly with Beterbiev without backing so much. As per Yarde's words, he will defeat Beterbiev, so I bet they really have some plans unlike Butler who didn't have some words prior the fight because he already knew that he's just participating to give Inoue the belt he's lacking.

Yarde seems too prepared to face Beterbiev so I think it he will be more determined to win this fight this time. It will be a challenging fight for Beterbiev and he should also be well prepared and never underestimate his capability of Yarde.
Yarde should practice countering all the punches that Beterbiev might throw him because we all know that he has fast hands.

Truth is that 99.9% of the boxers will really come prepared in the day of their fight, but even if they are that prepared and ready, they couldn't still remove the fact that their chances are still slim. Artur Beterbiev is a champion in the light-heavyweight for a reason and held three belts for a reason, even his record are saying that he might be too much for Anthony Yarde.
1645  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Caleb Plant vs David Benavidez on: January 11, 2023, 09:38:34 AM
Well there is a new name popping around recently that Canelo is interested on fighting British contender John Ryder.

For sure it won't sit well on the winner of this fight, because we wanted if David Benavidez wins here, to fight Canelo. So it's a surprised if indeed Canelo will skip Bivol in his comeback fight and step aside the winner here and fight John Ryder.

I wouldn't be surprised though as we all know that Canelo is recovering from his injuries so he might as well take a light opponent first before taking either the winner of this fight or again avenge his defeat to Bivol.

As far as I know, Eddie Hearn and Canelo Alvarez's camp have said last year that Canelo won't be fighting a direct heavy opponent after his surgery because they needed to get him back to his feet first just to be safe and that he will be given a tune-up fight before he decides to face the winner of Plant-Benavidez fight or go for a rematch with Bivol. So, I'm thinking that maybe this is what they meant that time because John Ryder is not that kind of a risk to Canelo's throne, but I found out that Ryder have the WBO interim belt which kind of confusing.

Probably, but let's see how Canelo critics will take this, for sure they will give a lot of negative press for Canelo in he chooses this fighter. Which I had to admit I have to check his boxrec to see if he is worthy.

So he is the interim WBO belt, but it doesn't matter, but now we all know what they are fighting him. It's because of his injury and yeah probably a tune up and test how his hands were after the surgery. Maybe after this one he will fight either Bivol or the winner here. Canelo as well said that he wants to fight 3x a year so that is about the possibility for this year or at least 3x fight within 12 months.

Well, if Canelo can manage to make this tune-up fight happen before the 1st quarter of this year ends then I think he can do three fights this year. But that still depends though if how this fight will turns out because this is still a test for Canelo to see if his hands are working fine or should he needed some more rest to recover from the surgery. Either way, he will be fighting the winner of this fight or Bivol, that's for sure. The question is, who will be fighting first.

I agree, but for sure when he will fight when there is a green light from his doctor. But nevertheless it's a big risk for him as it might reoccur and that's why they are thinking of having just a easy and get busy fight with Ryder, (assuming this will be the case).

If Bivol decided to go down to 168 lbs and fight Canelo then for sure the belt of Canelo will be on the line, otherwise it's no point for Bivol to go down to 168 lbs because that is a big risk for him.

Yes, that's Canelo's scenario for now because he have to watch his wrist first if it's already healed or not. He's quite older already so the tissues are not that healing fast compared to a boxer in the midst of his 20s. I just hope there would be no delay because I still wanted to see Canelo dance during his prime years and fight the heavy names in the industry that are after him.

Quote

That's true! Whether if it's super-middle or light-heavy, there will be a belt for sure. But Canelo got more risk because he got 4 in the line unlike Bivol where only got 1 title to risk. Anyway, we will see how things will turn out soon enough.
1646  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gervonta Davis VS Hector Luis Garcia SAT, JAN 07, 2023 on: January 10, 2023, 05:46:57 PM
I am very excited for this because I have told everyone many times that Boots Ennis is the boxer who can win against the kings of welterweight, Spence and Crawford.

In any case, my prediction is Boots will knockout Karen in round 1.

Yes, Ennis said that he wanted to make a statement here, it will be a PPV fight (co main event) so everyone is watching him. And if he win big here then for sure the hype train will continue and hopefully it will lead to either Spence or Crawford this year.

This will be a ladder boost for Jaron Ennis to get his place much closer to both Errol Spence and Terence Crawford, but it'll be closer for Spence because he will be the IBF mandatory after his fight against Karen which by the way I don't think that Ennis will lose here against Ukrainian boxer. Critics will be watching him in this bout for sure and defeating Karen will boost his name to call for the champions next.

Yes, I think that will be the perfect scenario for Ennis, beat the Ukrainian, (although he was scary during the face-off), but nevertheless this could be an easy fight for Jaron, might be too strong and too big for Karen.

So yes, a statement win, badly needed by Ennis to send that he will be looking for Spence next as he is the mandatory now.

Maybe Spence will fight Thurman and after his win, its easy Spence vs Boots.

Just as expected, Boots Ennis won the fight against the Ukrainian boxer although it's really not the outcome that I've been expecting because I somehow thought that he would at least defeat Karen with a bang before facing a champion next (either Spence or Crawford). But overall, it was still a good performance for Ennis and from my perspective, it seems that Karen haven't won at least single round.

After this fight, I'm really hoping that Ennis's next fight is against the champion because he already earned his place and now he's the IBF mandatory challenger which means he is much closer to face Spence.
1647  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin can be banned or stopped by governments on: January 10, 2023, 05:00:43 PM
Indian government (maybe other also)  say that " to ban cryptocurrency we need global help" my question is : can bitcoin be banned if all government will agree to ban bitcoin

i am something less experience and has bad english so ignore

If all countries were to ban BTC and its usage, then it will slowly become obsolete and no one would actually use it. There would be no trading aspect as persons would be liable if they transact using BTC. In addition, they would also be penalized by their respective government given that exchanges require KYC in order to transact using it. This will now definitely ruin the chances of BTC being globally accepted and used as a form of alternative currency without the need of any third-party consensus.

While that may be the case, I really doubt that it will happen. There are various countries who see the potential of its usage and its impact on the economy (e.g. Japan, etc.). While there may be countries who prohibit the use of such, there are still countries who continue to develop and adapt BTC to its economy and finances.

Luckily, not all countries has the same view as China and India because they chose to ban cryptocurrency rather than taking advantage of what can it do to their economy and let their people have the freedom invest in it. I understand why they chose to ban it but in any given angle, their government are just too selfish because they are the ones who decide for their people even if it's not what the people wanted.

To answer the OP's question, governments will definitely ban bitcoin if they chose to do so just like what India and China did.
1648  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you have 1 bitcoin? on: January 10, 2023, 04:18:26 PM
Do you currently have at least 1 bitcoin?

I don't think that really matters, whether if I'm hodling a whole bitcoin or not, the important thing is that I'm already hodling and still accumulating some coins in my portfolio while the market is still giving some advantage to us. It's true that there's a lot of investors that panicked during the big drop and that made them to sell their assets because of the fear that bitcoin will touch the rock bottom but they just don't really know and their fate is not that good enough.
1649  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 10, 2023, 03:47:58 PM
Durant misses at least two weeks, that would be a huge loss to BKN. They rather choose losing to Miami than losing Durant. Just when he broke another record and went up one more place in all time top scorers list, he could've gone one more place next game. I hope he'll return healthy soon.
Kyrie is playing great lately so I don't expect many losses from Brooklyn in this period. Sure Kyrie will use the ball more and Simmons should take more responsibility. T.J. Warren and Watanabe will get more playing time. Coach Vaughn will find a way to win games, Nets have a good squad. I don't think they'll go down just like Suns.

If only they could make that choice, they will indeed choose to get defeated rather than losing one of their efficient player that will make their situation much harder in the next few games without him. But, nobody anticipated that to happen and nobody wanted that to happen, it's just that Durant had to be in that wrong place at the wrong time.

But yes, they can still win some games even without him although it will be much harder now. Kyrie and Simmons will still do everything they can and will step up while Durant is still recovering from the suspected MCL injury. Just a couple of weeks won't hurt and they can still come back much stronger.
1650  Economy / Economics / Re: The poor people with their reasoning on: January 09, 2023, 09:30:42 PM
You just have to show them proofs and not slamming the door when they say "No" or reasoning out about how it will end up. There are pessimistic people too, do remember that. They are not poor and yet they are not willing to join such things because rumors and gossips came earlier before the marketing team. Back to the poor, they are just trying to be sure and investing in a secure way. They don't have much so might as well get the best out of it and not let it go to waste to HYIP with high risk of getting rekt.
I understand them as I am not far from a poor guy too. Been there, just worked harder.
Not all poor people refuse to invest, they really want to invest as much as they can but they don’t have enough funds to invest. That is why even if they wish too, they will never be profitable as much as rich people do because of their limited funds. And if ever they also have extra funds, they will far to invest in bitcoin because investing in bitcoin does not guarantee quick profits, which I think poor people don’t have that patience to wait for that long.
1651  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: As a newbie it is better you take custody of your coins on: January 09, 2023, 08:59:52 PM
This advice is not only suitable for newbies but even old members need ro hear this again to take action.

Since the entire cryptocurrency market is an interconnected digital financial web, that comes with high security and risk since we know that once transactions are sent it is inreviseable so the need to pay close attention to our actions in this space is very important.

My advice to others most especially newbies is that, make sure you are holding your asset in your wallet and never trust any cryotoxurrency third parties entity with custody of your coins until you have enough knowledge to manage the risk that is associated with such services.
This goes for everyone most especially for newbies who have less knowledge and control on their own coins. It’s a lot more secured for your coins to place them in your non-custodial wallet, aside from not operated online, you also don’t give any access to a third party so rest assured, as long as you are responsible with your own wallet, you will never experience hacking or stealing. You can trust exchanges but only when you’re good enough and knows how to deal the risk smartly.
1652  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A lottery's defense to not paying a huge winning. on: January 09, 2023, 08:31:18 PM
The question is ?
What do you really think of the lottery company and is there any chance for them to winning the case and not paying the winner?
Some countries lottery/gambling is legal and some countries lottery/gambling is illegal, if you talk about laws, it depends.

I mean, there are lottery companies that are illegal and there are legal ones, if the user wins the lottery the lottery dealer doesn't pay, let's say the lottery company is legal, if the winning user has enough proof of his winnings that user will get the lottery and vice versa it is illegal to have no hope for that user.

In the case as you mentioned, it seems legal, it is marked that the user is likely to get the lottery.

But mostly this kind of case is illegal and for sure what you've expected on this?  If legal as long as you have the winning ticket then the case will end, and you'll be sure that you can get the money but if it is illegal it is more likely the lottery will close and not open or they will keep blind that you didn't win even if you have that ticket. I heard this rumours around our neighbourhood when I was a child that a lottery closed because someone won big and they didn't pay him so he can't chase them as he doesn't know them.
Well, that would be an expected consequence if someone bets from an illegal betting company, and he knows he can’t do anything about it but regret. But here, the lottery company seems legal but their reason of not paying is just very light and unreasonable, but only the court will prove it if who’s been the telling the truth. Once proven, then the one who is at fault should be given proper sanction.
1653  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people store their cryptocurrency on exchanges? on: January 09, 2023, 07:44:32 PM
I can't give a reason of why people are sometimes holding their assets and bitcoin on exchanges because I've never done that, I personally usually won't use any centralized exchange even if the exchange is very famous and even after depositing bitcoins there I would withdraw my founds after doing the exchanges instantly instead of holding there.
But I guess most people will hold their assets on changes because they want their bitcoin and cryptocurrencies to be ready for doing any trade sometimes they will place an oper order for sale and their assets won't form the exchanges, the other reason can be the profit usually the exchanges offer for holding the assets there for long term.
That is mostly the case for some traders who still trust centralized exchanges because they want to easily trade their coins in the exchanges when the market is in bullish trend. But it would be more safe if those traders would only place minimal amount of coins to trade using exchanges as we don’t hold any outcome guarantees like it will be profitably done or not. And hacking could be very possible anytime in all exchanges operating online.
1654  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't feel comfortable with crypto exchange on: January 08, 2023, 10:53:17 PM
Everybody needs to fear crypto exchange without waiting for people to preach exchange is not good for storing bitcoin.   Remitano exchange is where I do buy bitcoin and sell bitcoin.  Sometimes it is very difficult to have access with this wallet to sell or buy bitcoin,  at times it takes 24hrs before one can logging this exchange. Just imagine exchange like this have some network issues like this and never gets back to normal again. This should be enough reason why people shouldn't store  bitcoin on exchange wallet.
It is always known and even more encouraged for newbies to never trust crypto exchanges as they can never be reliable in the long run. Although issues might be resolved after days or weeks, but after that, surely another issue will arise that creates another problem for the user. This will continue to happen with crypto exchanges. But if you have your own non-custodial wallet, you will have the sole control of your coins, when to keep them more or withdraw. So you won’t face undesirable problems that most crypto exchanges encountered.
1655  Economy / Economics / Re: The Taste of an Economic Downturn on: January 08, 2023, 09:56:39 PM
I want to believe that everyone is affected either directly or indirectly by the present global economic downturn. It is even worse for people in developing nations because. Over the past 2 years people in my country have experienced the highest inflation rate since the history of the nation. Prices of common commodities have increased more than 4 times. The most painful part of it is that we are powerless, complaining or ranting on social media is  little help. I do not angry or surprised any more because I already expect the price of the item to add a few cents the next time I visit the corner shop.
I think there’s no reason now to expect that these basic commodities will more likely to decrease their prices since the inflation gets even worser, considering even a piece of onion in our country is now very costly. So everyone is certainly affected right now, except for those who are living in golden spoon and that they won’t even notice if prices have increased or decreased in time. But I think the people who are deeply affected right now are those living in poverty, they will surely become poorer and poorer this time.
1656  Economy / Economics / Re: Fiat and crypto and stock is bs, but property is real on: January 07, 2023, 08:53:19 AM
It's illogical to compare all these with real estate. It's like comparing apples with potatoes—the first one is a fruit, the other a vegetable. Yes, I agree, real estate is probably one of the best—if not the best—investments you can ever make. You can sell it, rent it for passive income, use it for yourself, or a combination of them. Whether we like it or not, housing is becoming more and more expensive; thus, real estate will always be a worthwhile investment. The problem is that if you haven't inherited a property, it's nearly impossible to acquire one yourself nowadays.

Exactly. The OP haven't established or have thought that not everybody is capable to own a land or properties these days and convert it to a passive income where you will build a building to make some profits in the future thus getting some benefits as well because the property/land will get more expensive as years goes by. That is why it's hard to own some of it these days because real estate business is not new anymore.

But everyone has the power to own some crypto and stocks because that's much cheaper than owning a land as you can jus by a fraction of it, not wholly, like real estates. But the risks are the same and the owner will still benefit as year goes by.

Can't blame him if LeBron that time took his talent to the South Beach where Miami Heat is, I mean, Cavaliers was really nothing if LeBron wasn't in the eqaution and drafted there. But in fairness, LeBron came back and promised that he will bring the team their very first championship trophy which really happened when he came back. Wasn't a nice journey because the Dub Nation was also strong that time, adding Durant in their roster.
Well, it's also like a "shout out" for the Cavaliers at that time to do something better at surrounding him with good players and we all witnessed what they did when Lebron James came back. Pulled Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love just so the winning chance is higher and they did take the championship ring for that.
This could happen to Victor Wembanyama too if a team will be cheap at looking for players that will reflect his skills. It's not a one-man team, never, Warriors won't have that many championships if only Steph is the one doing all the offensive jobs.

Correct! It was a three-man job at the most where Green and the Splash Bros leads the team to get a win, but there's still a challenge that's why they needed some reliable role players to help protect the team in their defense to secure a win until they managed to get the championship. Just like LeBron, we all know that LeBron in Cleveland was so different but he couldn't still pull the championship if there's no Kyrie and Love in the team.

I don't think he is messing though, I mean that's what he has been saying for many years, 2 rounds and he will knockout Davis. Perhaps this was due to Ryan knocking out opponents in round 1 back to back. I remember Duno, who also says that he will knock out Ryan, but he was done in round 1 and that makes Ryan very confident in knocking down his opponent early. He was crack by Luke Campbell, but he has great recuperating power from a punch, because after that big test, he was able to knockout Campbell with that huge body punch in the ribs.

He probably wants the public to hype Tank more if Tank could KO his opponent in round 1, and at the same time he will get more appreciation if he could also knock out Tank Davis in 3 rounds, hehe. it's possible with Garcia's power but this is Tank Davis, a great fighter who is a KO artist.

Trash talk or anything like that would add fire to the potential fight, but it will be more fun to watch then on the ring giving their best.

Just some couple of words to pressure Tank in defeating Hector early because if their fight will finish much longer, the hype will belong to Ryan Garcia and that's what he wanted because Ryan Garcia is like a self centered kid in my perspective who wanted to gather attention. But if Tank manages to finish the fight much earlier, it will still benefit Ryan Garcia because he's still be included in the upcoming scenario where people is expecting a good fight as both of them is a knockout artist.

Ryan Garcia can talk some trash out of Davis but the latter won't be affected, he's just too accustomed in those kind of things. But Ryan Garcia, I don't know, the kid has yet faced embarrassments.
