1641  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TEKcoin PoS/PoW on Cryptsy! 30 days 40% interest! on: May 18, 2014, 03:57:59 AM
Regarding the stake algo. This is an inflation control method. Many coins use this same thing to lower the yearly interest as the number of coins and the amount of stake increases. Without such a control in place, the coin would be subject to run away inflation. Look what happened to CENT.
So, how does PHS handles it, since it is not NVCS?

TEK needs some liquidity on both sides of the order books.  Price is at 55000 satoshis but no buy orders over 1000 coins til you get to 20000 satoshi range.
StakeHunter's pledge: selling 25% of stake every month to ensure liquidity. I plan to do it, once I get my first stake (and I probably will buy MRO with it).

Nah, what we really need is merchants. This coin has long term potential, not just an exchange dump. Though it is pretty good for that, since everybody wants it Cheesy
For me, TEK is mostly a store of value. I'd use another coin (BTC or later MRO) for sales.

any tek selers ( i mean big seller) there is hardly 1000 tek in the sell book on cryptsy and i m kind of surprised it doesnt grow even with th recent price rise
It reminds me of this;

I noticed something with HBN. Even though there is plenty of HBN is being mined, hardly any of it hits the exchange. I also noticed the same miners on HBN, very few pool hoppers. So these miners are actually just mining and holding HBN, not mining and dumping.

The reason for this is simple. You want your money to work for you. I am sure that those miners/investors have done the math and have come to the same conclusion as me.

My favorite SHA-256 coin.

Mine too. I mean bitcoin is BITCOIN, but I really like Tek. It'll be fun to see where this goes.
As for me, I prefer TEK over BTC. Different uses, TEK for storing value, BTC for spending.

Dès que j'aurai récupéré un peu d'énergie, je pense que je le mettrais sur le site web.

Anyone to share a Linux binary? It doesn't compile on Arch. If it is like monero, a binary compiled on Ubuntu should work on Arch.

Thank you.

I updated the getting started page with minor improvements, mostly links and typos, plus removing some obsolete stuff.
1645  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [MRO] Monero logo contest - 300 MRO bounty on: May 17, 2014, 02:15:12 PM
Nice upgrade of one of my previous favourites. We'll, a bit gangsta-style, I'd say.

Ok. Agree, but the left one for size 50x50 looks better, I think so, because the black/shadow background pointing out the form "M" very well.
"cryptonote" had to be removed for the 50x50 size to complement the composition.
That's what happened:
Edited old version and new:

On coinmarket:

And on poloniex for review:
I vote this post as the perfect case study. Other should follow this post when submitting logo (that's MY point of view, not an "official monero team" point of view, though)

Please not this, every time I see it the first word that comes to mind is "Boner".
And for me "Moner". Interesting idea, but I'm not convinced atm.

thanks for the kind words everyone! Is this going to be a community vote, or will the devs/foundation or so decide ?
It's hard to tell what direction this logo should take.
Since monero is all about fairness, at first sight, I'd say community vote, but we have not decided yet. Maybe a preselection by dev then community vote for the remaining shotlist? This is what I did for Mintcoin - You will always get unhappy people but I think we managed to get less than with other methods.

So, in the end, we still don't know for sure the kind of vote it will be.

Conforta
Now I can say my favourite (of Syris' logos) is Conforta. Although CaviarDreams is a close second.

I received 10M. From Reddit giveaway I suppose  Smiley. I am giving back to the community. Just tweet: #Monero internet money, true anonymity (your MRO address)
First 3 will receive 3MRO.
Retweeted Smiley. Although the giveaway is probably over, publicity for monero is always good.
1647  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 17, 2014, 01:29:41 PM
Good news, I have manually paid out everyone for the first 8 blocks of moneropool.org. Automatic payments should now work as long as no one tries to mine with an invalid address.
I received 15 monero but I was on moneropool.com so I should not have receive any yet and no one was supposed to send me any. Here is the transaction ID if that helps: 7f2f5d57026896df7714b64e669cfb0a333647ed80d85a348154a030dae9111b

Thank you.

1.) Augmenter le hashrate de la pool ( j'ai une idée de comme faire )
2.) Fournir des graph des hashrate
3.) La liste des X derniers payouts

D'autre truc encore Smiley
Miam !

Assuming they had the reasonable, and not deoptimized, implementation of the algorithm as designed all along (which is likely), the alleged "two year history" of bytecoin was mined on 4-8 PCs. It's really one of the shadiest and sleaziest premines scams yet, though this shouldn't be surprising because in every type of scam, the scams always get sneakier and more deceptive over time (the simple ones no longer work).

I added the download link to the site, it is http://198.199.79.100/cryptonote-easy-miner.zip
And I added it to http://bit.ly/monero-starter-pack too.

From what I read, Sync is an X11 version of Blackcoin, no more
- UltraFastPoS with Multipool (like Blackcoin)
- X11 instead of Scrypt
(rarity does not matter, it is just aeshetics)

Did I miss something?
1657  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][SYNC]X11 | POS| 1,000 Coins| |5 days mining only|Multi-Pool | on: May 15, 2014, 06:45:32 PM
The same for the self-moderation: people are wary of self-moderation almost as much as of premine. Now, I know you cannot change it after creation, but try to mitigate this with a text like "we pledge to avoid resorting to self-moderation as much as possible".
The self moderation is because I don't want people going off-topic.. I will make amends. Thanks[/quote]Good. The fact that you are showing this already makes me more confident in you.
1658  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 15, 2014, 06:31:44 PM
bitcoin was premined. Satoshi has around 1 million BTC and thats a big problem for bitcoin. At least the rest are spread unlike BCN... oh and btw Satoshi announced bitcoin start. Didnt wait for 2 years to make a thread Smiley
It was not premined, it just happens that no one else care for it for a long time, that's different.

there is no ./bitmonero or ./simplewallet binaries in the ~/bitmonero/build/release/src dir.
Look for ~/.bitmonero, not ~/bitmonero/build/release/src/.bitmonero Smiley If you use a GUI, check "show hidden folders". If you dont, use -a on ls (the good ol' ls -lah is a win)
1659  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][SYNC]X11 | POS| 1,000 Coins| |5 days mining only|Multi-Pool | on: May 15, 2014, 06:24:33 PM
I'm new in X11 algorithm,SYNC is low qty! I like it!

Yes except David  Angry
I did not say that Smiley I said that 1% proof-of-stake shall be avoided because it gives false hope. What does 1% means when the price frequently drops 20% per day? It is much to low to encourage people to keep their coins. So it is better to drop the 1% entirely.

That being said, the coin may rise on its other merits. Look at Blackcoin, up to 13100% in one month (and a sustained 3000% since its inception, although it is not a worthy investment anymore for any one but day-traders.

Oh, one more thing: the "ultra-exclusive" part discredits you, since it is on bitcointalk. The same for the self-moderation: people are wary of self-moderation almost as much as of premine. Now, I know you cannot change it after creation, but try to mitigate this with a text like "we pledge to avoid resorting to self-moderation as much as possible".

Good luck though Smiley

Remember: nothing to pay, nothing to click on. I've been on their website for several months now.

They are presently unlocking payment in two new coins but DON'T PAY! The unlock code looks very small (1 euro for each, so two euros) but the ROI (based on Infinitecoin, since we cannot know how much coin we would get from the locked ones) seems to be around 12000 days, that is 32 years! Granted, the reward will increase with time, but don't expect anything better than 5 years ROI, which is out of the question. They will have to do better, even to get my 1 euro.
