I'm new to XC. Have Mac client on my pc and wife's pc. We exchanged addresses/pubkeys but when we try to send msg, we get error msg: "message encryption failed". Is this due to known bug in Xchat or is it something I may be missing? I have 710 XC in my client, wife has zero right now. thanks

If you are both on the same internal network (home network)  that won't work as it goes out to other nodes to be mixed and tries to connect to the client coming back in.

I just tried sending XChat msg to your addr/pubkey and I get the same error message?

I Think it is a known issue with OS X.

Alright I finally get to try XChat on my Mac. Please someone send me something:

Address: XUHBQfuEMhxVZG76koBVHMyJ31VtMYVW9E

Public Key: 28EWoPmHj5PDfaJbU9mYebrL8KqRkF8uiHezxShyCvh9U

Trying to send synechist a message and getting error message 'message encryption failed'.

What might be amiss?

Has anyone received this error message when trying to send a message? Wondering why I'm getting it...

I am getting the same error on OS X Sad

Dan, you should add voicechat to XChat, that would be a good feature.

Its on the list.  Check out the first post in the thread.

Akula, making FUD statements is against XC code of conduct.
Refrain from making false assumptions on another coin and it's team.

Why do you say i'm making FUD? It's easy to yell FUD when the truth is being brought out.
Can you prove to me that what i'm saying is FUD?

Dude, you only talk negative on everything you can.. Remember the multipool?? How much XCurrency you own?

Didn't he post that he had 12 XC?  Then someone asked what his address was and people sent him more?

Hi Qiwoman2 and welcome to the XC Community!
This new Feature Exciting! Great to have A new Coin venturing with us!

Haha this is your first post in this community...

So what, and this is your 16th post.  No need to be rude.

Why are people selling now? I assume they sell with a loss, so that would be dumb.

I guess it is all perception.  I am not selling, but I have never bought any either, just mined them during PoW.

My cost is $0.00125 for each XC I own (cost of electric).  Yes, that is US dollars, not Satoshi. Wink
1666  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XC][XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy Platform / Encrypted XChat / Pos on: August 18, 2014, 02:38:56 PM
I have a question:
1. How long does it take for coins to mature?
2. Somebody should make an exchange so that XC can be bought directly with fiat money instead of buying Bitcoins first, that would take away a lot of hassle.

1- it takes 10 days on AVG

2- I agree

It takes 8 hours for coins to mature.

For coins to stake, it can take up to 30 days.
1667  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XC][XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy Platform / Encrypted XChat / Pos on: August 15, 2014, 04:31:55 PM
Damn, it's awfully quiet in here and on the exchange. A friend I recently convinced about XC wants to buy 25 btc worth of XC. Anyone willing to sell otc? Please PM me.

Here's an idea:

- every so often, some of us will want to sell XC to pay salaries, rent, etc.

- why don't we post the amount and asking price here and see if there are any takers?

- if there's a deal, trades can take place on Mintpal, which will keep the volume up.

- and the community will understand the reason for selling rather than being perturbed/outraged at the stupidity of sellers.

P.S. This was Bisky's idea. Thanks Bisky!

P.P.S. This would only make sense to those who want to see the price head upwards but still need to sell some XC.

Sounds like a great idea. But, shouldn't this be done on a separate sub-thread? I mean, XC trade thread could deal with whatever people want to exchange.

Possibly...

But that would remove one of its advantages, which is to let community members know what the selling is for.

I reckon that sell offers should be posted publicly, negotiated privately, and then final agreements to trade posted publicly.

After that the community can sit back and watch the trade take place on Bitcoinwisdom.

For a coin that is based on privacy, this discussion seems a bit odd to me.

Why should I disclose to the community that I am selling some XC?  What about buying XC, should we make that public too?  Or is it just to calm the ones that freak out when the price goes down?

Why try and centralize the trading of a decentralized currency? I'm confused.  Huh

REDD has 22,500 followers on reddit. If they get added and see that we have helped them, thats potentially 22,500 new people who might notice XC and also think were a decent community.

Just a thought.

Anyway, I wont mention it again.

It was just an after thought.

Your post said; "...i recon we should start voting for redcoin so DRK don't catch up."

If your original intent was to garner the support of the Reddcoin community by helping them get votes then that is what you would have said in the first place.  As opposed to saying that we should vote for REDD so DRK doesn't "catch up."

I don't own any DRK or REDD.  Just expressing my opinion.

Hey just a thought, but now we have already been added to coingateway, i recon we should start voting for redcoin so DRK don't catch up. much rather redd added than drk and they are gaining.

no point voting for us any more now were already up there.  Wink

https://www.coingateway.net/

Dunno what you guys think, but DRK have now overtaken reddcoin.

REDD were ahead of us in the vote when we were kindly added, and DRK were far behind.

Reddcoin is aimed at a completely different market from us at the moment, so i recon we should help them out with some votes.  Smiley

Since Reddcoin had more votes than XC, but XC got added, the same will probably happen with REDD and DRK.

Why conspire against DRK?

Usually conspiring equals malevolent, shadowy action not open activity. Excuse us for not cheering for DKR, we just thought we might help another long-established coin, im pretty sure DKR has enough support of its own to make it there.

Go campaign for it on the REDD thread then.  No need to do it here in the XC thread.  It looks unprofessional.  IMO.

If REDD is a social media type coin, they shouldn't have any problems getting their own support either.

Not really XC related, but interesting:  https://www.tradingview.com/x/ISdZpcWp/
Time to cash out ?

The time to cash out of BTC was at the end of last November.  Wink

I mean - cash out of FIAT ....dive into crypto's

Ahahah, I see what you are saying.  It hurt my brain for a second, but I get it now.  Smiley

Hey,
can somewone explain me how staking should work?

I had installed the wallet an made some transfers in my wallet between different adresses.

My "minting-wight" grow up to 6437, Expected time to earn reward -> 3hours

I send another 2.000XCs in my wallet between different adresses, now my wight is 1, Excpected time to earn reward -> 965 day  Angry

On my wallet are ~4.000XCs

Staking takes a minimum of 8 hours and a maximum of 30 days.  This info is in the initial post.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to the "Expected time to earn reward."  Just like normal mining, there is variation in finding blocks.

Quit trying to ninja advertise coins you baghold.  It makes you look bad.

So it must be OK if you don't try to hide your advertising?

Here are some of your latest posts, same post spammed to many different coin threads:

Wow, check out ShadowCoin guys... first full mobile wallet that supports staking, p2p encrypted messaging, and stealth transfers.

Put a Zeus asic on there but I'm having the same issue I have with many multipools and that is too many rejected shares. The diff is too low for asics and doesn't adjust up far enough. I'll let it run for a while to see if it corrects itself but I don't hold out much hope.

Can you manually set a difficulty to the end of your XC Address to force a constant difficulty like you can in a normal P2pool?

Here is a snippet from reddit:

Quote
Yesterday I manually set my difficulty using +0.001047726 appended to my wallet address. The value I used to set the manual difficulty is based on the combined kh/s value of both cards as reported by cgminer. The formula I used was hash rate in kH * 0.00000116414

So your setting would look something like the following if you had a 10Mhs script ASIC:

Code:
-o stratum+tcp://us.altmining.farm:3333 -u XC.<Your XC Address>+0.0116414 -p x

Everyone in the thread should read this article, very interesting xcurrency mention.

http://[Suspicious link removed]/1rjbs5q

Nice mention.

It says XC is open-sourced though it isn't quite yet.

It is, but on a delayed timeline.

Ok now, someone hook me up with the paperwallet info please I wanna do some experimenting.

I don't think there is a link to it yet. I sent it to the team for review earlier this week, but I'm sure they are busy. Hopefully we will hear something soon.
1678  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XC][XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy Platform / Encrypted XChat / Pos on: August 08, 2014, 04:25:19 PM

And that would have been fine but now there is another code review happening. How the hell does that relate to XChat? That's my point. If the sole focus is XChat, then XChat it is, but if you have time to take on another issue/product, then you have time to look into the issue I am having.

You don't get to decide Dan's priority list.

How do you know he is going to review their code before he helps you this afternoon?

You are coming across as extremely needy, IMO.  You are the only one that seems to have this problem.  I think Dan is being very gracious by spending some one on one time with you to try and figure it out.  I would find it surprising if Dan would give priority to another coin over his own project.

In my eyes, since you are the only one who can reproduce the bug, it is a relatively low priority.  Instead of complaining, you should be commending.

... what happens when more people start trying it out and run into the same issue I am having. Are you really going to say it's low priority then?

No, that is why I explicitly made the point that you are the only one.  At the company I work for, the reported bugs escalate as more hits are gained.  It is the only way to effectively develop software.

If more people were to complain about the same issue you are having, it is only logical that the priority would increase.

...or I'm the only one that has openly posted about it.

...or I'm one of the people that actually tried private transfers instead of taking everyone's word that it works.

Regardless, it should be fixed. Perhaps it's an easy fix, in which case, great, it shouldn't take long at all. So far, Dan has been stumped what is going on so take it for what it's worth.

I don't think anyone here is saying that it shouldn't be fixed.  I'm not saying that.

Obviously Dan is aware of it and has set a time for you and him to trouble shoot the issue.

The point is, you keep harping about it, and going on about how you disagree about what your perception of what Dan's priorities are.
