1661  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCEMENT] Litecoin Faucet Open! {litecoinfaucet.com} on: May 23, 2012, 02:06:37 AM
Update: we are now at:
litecoinfaucet.com

If you go to the old website kmpapplications.com, it will redirect you. After a month or so I will remove this redirect and maybe use kmpapplications.com for something else. No ideas yet...

Anyhow, let me know if you can't access (Propagation still has another... 24 hrs or so?) the website or if something isn't working. Thanks!
As well, we've gone through 7 rounds now, everything seems to be going very smoothly, had some suspicious activity but dealt with it accordingly (only sending LTC to one address if they submitted more than one address and only sending one LTC to one Address when they came from a lot of very similar IP's very close together (200.200.200.201, 200.200.200.202, etc.) (that wasn't an actual IP I had trouble with, just an example...).

Anyhow, I do plan to implement some sort of Captcha soon as suggested by someone else (thanks!), and may look into more methods of controlling abuse, any other ideas? Don't really want to post exactly what he put as it might give potential abusers some ideas...

And I am considering moving over to mining bitcoins then exchanging them into LTC, as that would (in theory) bring up the BTC/LTC ratio, correct? Or would it be insignificant enough? I'm going to, fairly soon, be running around... let's see a 560 Ti plus a 5970 plus a BitForce Single... so 1.5 GH/s? I might keep the 560 Ti and i5-2500k mining litecoin, then exchange BTC as necessary for remaining LTC input. Am I going crazy or would this work?

Oh, and I figured out how to solo-mine (I think) LTC, might also give that a hand, if anyone wants I can throw together a guide for that if there is any interest. Maybe a video tutorial or something. Smiley

Again, thanks for the support, I hope this somehow adds something small to the Litecoin project Smiley

Opened the litecoin faucet.
1663  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCEMENT] Litecoin Faucet Open! {kmpapplications.com} on: May 21, 2012, 12:24:18 PM
First round went smoothly, so far so good Smiley.
1664  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCEMENT] Litecoin Faucet Open! {kmpapplications.com} on: May 21, 2012, 11:59:41 AM
pooler: certainly plan to move it to a dedicated FAQ page on the website itself, probably tonight Smiley.

Edit: moved to http://kmpapplications.com/FAQ.html Smiley
1665  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] LTC InstaWallet on: May 21, 2012, 03:38:35 AM
In case anyone is wondering, wallet's been back up for almost a day now Smiley.

If anyone wants some free LTC to play around with I have a LTC faucet set up that can pay out to these wallet addresses: kmpapplications.com.
1666  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [ANNOUNCEMENT] Litecoin Faucet Open! {litecoinfaucet.com} on: May 21, 2012, 03:04:36 AM
Hello Smiley I was poking around the interwebs yesterday and today, and in doing so came to the conclusion that I couldn't find any operating Litecoin faucets. So I made my own. I think a faucet for digital currency is important/useful as, while not giving large sums to anyone anytime quick, it enables people to try out a currency or get familiar with it. For example, another member on the forum did a cool project with giving elementary students of a class a wallet with (I think) 1 BTC in it. This type of faucet would be perfect for something like this. Use cases:
1.) A few LTC a day for people who don't want to mine / don't know how
2.) Gives people some LTC to experiment with and practice with (instead of risking BTC) (mainly applies to kids...)
3.) An addition to what a person mines daily (the time it takes you to fill in your address is likely faster than it takes your miner to earn 1 LTC for you)
4.) Can get friends into a digital currency without dishing out any money
Probably more possible, that's all I can think of right now.

I had an old domain lying around from when I was going to start some sort of software dev business, and so, for now, I am going to be using this domain for the faucet, but I may switch to another domain depending on various circumstances. Anyhow, here is a picture of the faucet:

It's called Litecoin Dropper, adopting the Ł to be the Litecoin symbol, we'll see how that goes. Basically you get 1 LTC per round (amount subject to change based on supply/demand) per IP. At the end of the round, all of the IP's have the first address they submitted sent one LTC, and a new round starts. There may be some addresses which don't receive LTC, such as if there are 30 IP addresses that are like 79.112.147.x where it's pretty obvious someone is using something like a mobile phone to submit multiple Litecoin Addresses from an IP address they can easily change. This will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.

The dropper/faucet works by rounds, which range from usually, under normal circumstances, 8-12 hours per round. Each round each IP is allowed one LTC address. The system won't stop you from entering another, but you will only get payout on the first address submitted that round. You will know we are one a new round as the round number will increase.

The pool is funded by 1.) a certain percentage of my mining output, 2.) donations (donation address on site), 3.) Litecoin miner embedded in website, and 4.) possibly the Ad money?

If you would like to read an FAQ, please go to http://litecoinfaucet.com/FAQ.html Smiley.

Anyways, please leave (negative or positive) feedback.

As well, I know the design isn't very polished/attractive, but heh, 1.) I'll probably do some work on it in about a week (once finals are over) but it's functional and gets the job done Smiley. Happy mining/pooling/dropping!

Oh, and Moderators, if this belongs in another category like project development or something, sorry, didn't know quite where to post this... please move it if it is wrong Smiley.

I have noticed some very similar IP's requesting litecoins very close to each other (like 109.163.233.(200/201/205)), so I have automatically only paid out one LTC to the first address given by any of these similar IP's. Otherwise, everything's going smooth and such Cheesy. I'm gonna start a bit of a progress counter here to keep up on the system's progress.

Progress:
LTC SENT:
1 [Smiley]
10 [Smiley]
25 [Smiley]
50 [Smiley]
100 [Smiley]
200 [Smiley]
500 [Smiley]
750 [Smiley]
1000 [Smiley]
1500 [Smiley]
2500 []
5000 []

We have made a block worth an extra 2.5 LTC from trans. fees apparently: http://abe.liteco.in/chain/Litecoin/b/138978 Smiley Still don't understand where some of those numbers are coming from though, seems a bit odd lol

EDIT: Now have transferred everything over to new Domain, lemme know about strange bugs that shouldn't happen!
EDIT AGAIN: Mobo in main computer with wallet died, traded some BTC to LTC to hold us over, ordered a new cheap mobo (~60 USD...) to fill in while other mobo is out for RMA... Now doing payouts again though Smiley
1667  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Litecoin faucet - http://freelitecoins.appspot.com on: May 20, 2012, 11:09:52 PM
Would anyone want to see another Litecoin Faucet open up? I have a tentative idea for a faucet, although it's far from complete. It'd work funded by an embedded webminer, advertisements, and any donations people feel like sending, plus some fraction of what I mine. Anyone interested?
1668  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: May 20, 2012, 07:12:13 PM
Hmm, alright so I have exactly this in my litecoin.config file:

Code:
cat .litecoin/litecoin.conf
rpcuser=miners
rpcpassword=litecoin
rpcallowip=*
rpcport=9332
daemon=1
server=1
gen=0

block_nTime=1317972665
block_nNonce=2084524493

and exactly this in my reaper config:

Code:
host 127.0.0.1
port 9332
user miners
pass litecoin

protocol litecoin

worksize 256
aggression 17.5
threads_per_gpu 1
sharethreads 18
lookup_gap 2
gpu_thread_concurrency 6144

Still not working... did I do something wrong?
1669  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] LTC InstaWallet on: May 19, 2012, 10:03:55 PM
Hey, just curious, noticed service has been down for I think two or three days, how long do you think it will be down?
1670  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Announcing an easier way to request your daily free coins (BETA) on: May 19, 2012, 04:44:24 AM
Awesome idea, got my free bit coins for the day Smiley Err... bit cents... they add up though Smiley
1671  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: VirtualMiner 2.0 - Running! on: May 18, 2012, 01:14:25 AM
if theres anything we have learned from history, its that the majority is always right.

Uhh, then why doesn't the majority use bitcoin? Just saying...
1672  Economy / Gambling / Re: Hyipbit.com any good? on: May 18, 2012, 01:10:32 AM
So has the situation improved with getting regular payouts? The bitcoin transactions link didn't show anything after the 7th, but perhaps other people have had some luck? Any new word from hyipbit either? Just curious, was doing hkbtclending, but the returns on this investment hyipbit seem just a bit too good to be true...

Thanks for the input again guys, so Lem do you think it would work best if I just sold the 560 Ti? Maybe I could run GPUGrid or something on it lol
1674  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Overclocking NVidia GTX 560 Ti on: May 17, 2012, 01:37:37 AM
No, I am sharing my bitcoins with my parents (just split the purchase of a bitforce single with my mom, they are perfectly aware about mining.) I guess technically this means that I am in essence paying for the electricity, but the addition of a 5970 that is all mine to my system doesn't cost me extra and my parents support my venture.

I'd agree that it was stealing if they were unaware of it or I was using massive quantities of electricity for a mining farm, sure, but one 5970 plus a bitforce single, both that they know about, not, in my mind, is stealing.
1675  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Overclocking NVidia GTX 560 Ti on: May 16, 2012, 08:59:20 PM
bulanula: actually my parents pay the electricity bill. But let's go with antigravity plus 102% efficiency engines.
1676  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Nvidia + ATI? on: May 16, 2012, 08:58:22 PM
Thanks for the input guys Smiley Yeah, might upgrade to a ~1200W and throw in another 5970, depends on how my mining goes.
1677  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Nvidia + ATI? on: May 16, 2012, 12:36:38 PM
Thanks! Mine is a Seasonic, well I suppose I'll find out in a week lol.
1678  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Nvidia + ATI? on: May 16, 2012, 02:00:42 AM
Hey.  I can speculate based on my knowledge of windows, but I haven't tried first hand.  I boycott nvidia because of a stunt they pulled years ago when Vista came out, and I haven't gotten over it yet.

1 - Should able to use both without a problem.
2 - Probably.  You won't want to bother with the 560 though once you see what the 5970 does for you. Smiley
3 - I would think this would be the ideal use of your nvidia card.
4 - Make sure you have the power supply for it.  The 5970 is a beast of a card and is power hungry.

M

Thank you! About the power supply: I never even thought about that... I have an 850W, do you think that will cover it? If not, do you think taking out the 560 Ti will cover it? If the 2nd option does I would just sell my 560 Ti, no biggie.

About #2: Yeah, figured the 5970's going to be amazing at mining, but ehh, Got my 560 TI to run at 105 MH/s, suppose every bit (no pun intended) counts.
1679  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Nvidia + ATI? on: May 16, 2012, 01:30:41 AM
Hello, sorry if this is a noobish question, I looked around and didn't find much of a definitive answer for this:

Here is the lowdown... Back in Nov. 2011, I decided to build a gaming computer. Soon after, I got into bitcoin mining, and have mined a bit with my 560 Ti that I bought. Here are my complete system specs:

Intel i5-2500k
Asus P8-Z68 v-Pro MOBO
8 GB RAM
Asus 21" monitor
NVidia GTX 560 Ti

I, just a few minutes ago, bought an ATI Radeon 5970 HD on ebay (for around $375, seemed like a good price).

I have a few questions revolving around this:
1.) Can I have both a NVidia card and an ATI card installed with NVidia drivers and ATI drivers running at the same time?
2.) Can I use both cards for mining at the same time? (if 1 is yes, I'd image yes for 2?)
3.) Can I run my 5970 mining and game on my 560 Ti (1) is it possible (2) would it be laggy?
4.) Anything else I need to be aware of for this kind of setup?

Thank you guys so much Smiley

Oh, electricity usage has never been a problem for me, I get free electricity. Totally forgot to factor that in >.<
