As for the 2 roles of government, one is the security of the land from outside forces, the other is the enforcer of law inside the country.
Pretty sure that's indeed the correct answer: (1) national defense and (2) rule of law. Yeah, that's my vote too. Essentially: 1. Police/military (they're pretty much the same thing, especially if the military is used only defensively) 2. Courts The thing is, monopoly power distorts even these two essential functions. In brief, when the government is the law, they are above the law. Market forces can take care of everything, and there is no need for a monopoly on those services. I also think the first is courts. Basically only acting as neutral and deciding Party when there are disputes between citizens / companies in this country or other countries. I'm not so sure about the military. Community Militias can form sufficient means for defense. Wealth People and companies could pay for the equipment while every citizens agrees to defend the country if attacked. I would say the second is diplomacy. As long as there are other Governments. The free nation would need to be represented towards them through a single entity.

unhackable
That's basically an invite for everyone to go and try it. Actually, the side looks nice and this may be a services that is needed not for us (still the vast majority) here, but for "Mainstream" users that are overchallenged with properly securing their coins them self. That the community is by now very skeptic of such services is actually a very healthy thing. As always, don't give any BTC to such services that you can't afford to loose. If you are still around in ~1 Year and did not close, get hacked or run with the Deposits you have, then you will have the necessary legitimacy.

Strange, I tried it two additional times with different phrases (thought I maybe had encountered a bug as I used a ü the first time). CPU usage goes to 100%, browser becomes unresponsive and it takes forever. Well, as you are probably using Linux we just blame it on Microsoft I use Windows 7. What the browser was that? Windows 7 Firefox 20.0.1

If u r willing to help, go to https://ripplepp.appspot.com, please. U r supposed to click [Login] and enter a secret phrase. After u press [OK] the browser will generate RSA keys and send a request to the server. I need to know how much time it takes to generate the keys (approximately) and if "0 XXX" appears in "Balance". Thank you in advance. How long will this roughly take, I candled it after about five minutes, when I started it I thought you wanted me to stop the seconds it takes

Yeah but at 10PM on friday night we get to all go watch Star Trek Into Darkness. Could we be any more nerd?!?!?
EDIT: I'm not kidding. :-)
Yes, this really jumped into my eye, too I bet this will get a note in almost ever newspaper that reports about the conference. ... and after several hours of talking about how to bring down the Central Banks, the "evil geniuses" looked for guidance through Mister Spock Don't get the point with the comedian though. That's a common and good way to start a conference.

Confirmations: 4
LOL, what do you mean by this? What happens after 4 Confirmations? Are you coins gone if you don't spend them within 4 confirms?

So gesehen hatte dieser Hype wirklich was positives.
Hat also vielleicht doch was gutes.

Its just a way to get positive reactions, they gave one to wired aswell. Thats the mind behind this.
No Problem with giving out Promo / Dev Units. But as long as basically nobody of the people that Paid for the whole thing revived theirs, it's not OK. But well, anything it takes to attract more prepurchase money I guess.

dev/promo copy, no order ID. Just was contacted by BFL representative. Will take some pics.
Nice how they keep giving away their customers Hardware for free. Edit: come to think of it. As the whole thing was paid by prepurchase orders. Giving Hardware to someone that didn't order is basically stealing.

where is the watchlist link that would work perfectly good. at the risk of sounding like a newb, I can't seem to find the link
Directly under "Show new replies to your posts." Also: Make sure you have checked "automatically watch topics I have posted in" in you Profile settings.
|
|
|
the unread replies link
Use the Watchlist, just forget about "Show new replies to your posts.". Watch and unwatch is only for the Watchlist.

as the name is supposed to restrict ASICs then I'll stick with it.
If that's your only Goal, how about ASICschürfungsverhinderungsmünze --> ASIC mining prevention coin.

TardCoin
Let's make that one a bar. TardBar. That's sounds like a promising Faecal Currency

Funny thing is: However, if a country or a person uses a gold-based currency today, the exchange rate between that gold-based currency and the U.S. dollar then becomes very unstable. Or: However, if a country or a person uses a Bitcoin today, the exchange rate between Bitcoin and the U.S. dollar then becomes very unstable. Just read the whole article again, but replace the word Gold with Bitcoin and the word Bitcoin with Gold --> Nothing Changed. All Statements are equally true or false as before.
