According to the devs Im a Grand Puppet Master

Aladin
Prosperux
John holmes
PtBrennan
LexusFly
JCann83
Obarr88
Kolomoy

Am I understanding this right? This means all this people are me?

NO THEY ARE NOT

I wonder how I ended up in a company of these people.

Pretty simple. You all have the same IP. Don't tell me Tor as there are 1000 Tor exit node which are assigned randomly, so the probability that all of you got the same exit node at same time frame (within 24  hours) is lower than winning million dollar lottery

Some people, actually quite a few advanced users configure TOR to only use a few exit nodes they trust to avoid using a compromised one.
Not saying that's the case here - just raising the possiblity.

Because we sure as hell didn't collect IP addresses.
To be clear I don't in generall think it was bad to collect IPs, it's just a question of how you do it and what you do with this information.

Looks like every time you login to the client, your account number  (after you enter your pass phrase), IP & time is recorded by the server. This happens after every login. So by now they must have a large database.

I am not sure when they made that change, but that could be the reason why they wanted everyone to generate new accounts.

Well I guess we'll never know but if they really had us make new accounts because they wanted the surveilance then they straight up lied to us. Word was that it was technically necessary no ?
1763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - Open Alpha Has Launched[Updates & Discussion] on: July 09, 2014, 06:43:07 AM
I will start doing a more indepth analysis of the stakeholder list, I'll discuss it more over here: http://forum.nemcoin.com/index.php?topic=2279.new#new

What are you guys doing?you are making too much of this and continuing the sock puppet debate because of what.6 measly accounts and a few socks on another coin?. That utopian future was more than happy with the stakeholder list. Your going to go through all this shit again?haven't you got better things to do...your just pissing folk off that's now spent half a year interested in this project.get a life. A final stakeholder list should be final in my opinion.and no I haven't got any NEM yet in case you ask. I just see it pissing off the community.
[/quote]

tbh I don't mind the community doing a little digging - in fact I welcome it - unless it starts to turn into a which hunt again.
Please don't consider any results from NODE until they have a final list.

Also if you think you found something plz don't go around and start spreading FUD. Let's calmly talk about it and solve issue instead of creating them.
1764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [AИN] NODE aka NXTLite - Puppet Removal has begun! on: July 09, 2014, 06:22:16 AM
this whole thing has turned into a joke
I don't even care anymore
I was one of the first to support this project but now it's whatever
accusing people of false sock puppets
here we go again, NODE pulling an NEM. oh well

edit: might I add that this is not the first coin that has turned into a headache for me. way to drive away people from crypto! all devs like this are doing a fantastic job at giving crypto coins a bad reputation. so sad  Huh
woah, hold on... what do you mean by "pulling a nem"?

According to nodecoin list, dave5555 and LemonAndFries  are the same person. If you check dave5555  history, he was complaining about "Nem" removal of sockpuppets

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=426303.msg6298607#msg6298607

as these were all for "friends and family" obviously Smiley

nem used hard facts/evidence to root out sock puppets?

Node has absolutely solid evidence (IP logs all of them, and time-stamp logs, could be even more info like OS and browser).

you saying that as if node devs are doing something bad that nem devs did. not node stake holder doing something bad that a nem stake holder did. you put it in the wrong context.

I think you mean to say NODE devs are doing something that NEM didn't right ?
Because we sure as hell didn't collect IP addresses.

OK what is it that you are saying here? No one knows what city Im from. I use TOR!! HELLO!! Im not trying to save these other guys, I just want it made clear that they have nothing to do with me.

Tor doesn't always work, as Javascript (and Flash) client can reveal your IP.

In any case, be patient. Lets wait for the panel.

I'm wondering how that panel is supposed to work. Do they also get 0 information on why the puppets are accused ? (like actuall data and not just beating around the buch) How are they supposed to decide ?

===========================================
Reasons for Selecting the Cube as the Symbol of NEM.

 -- snap --
really great article, objective !
Two good points:
"cube" - hexagon,
tomoe - polarizing

The latter is often more important than many have thought.
That's why the possible negative points must not be just pushed away.
For example, if 60% doesn't see number 6's figure in the tomoe, and 40% does see, is it ok to skip that point of view?
If you were in a team of the other candidate in US President election, I'm pretty sure, what would you decide after evaluating 60 and 40%.
+1. If NEM group really is going forward despite the opinion of NEM people, THEN can be started the real conspiracy debate  Grin
first utopianfuture "played" with puppets and "got caught", then a "good" logo was autocratically chosen, what caused NEM to be ... ... ... ...

"autocratically" ... Hmmm, interesting word.
UF sounded sometimes like ignoring some things or persons. That ignorance was kind of explained with the massive work load.
Now the work load is splitted? Do the load or responsibility affect to leaders behaviour against the crowds?

The logo wasn't chosen "autocratically" - in fact no final logo has been chosen.
The logo that was brought forward was supposed to be an interim logo. we needed one that was used among all services and decided to use a new one instead of the ones already present. It was badly communicated I'll give you that but the plan has always been to have a vote for the FINAL logo i.e. the logo that is going to be used after launch (final in this case is a relative term as logos and CIs can always change).

btw.: We plan on having the same designer that made the beloved cube logo come up with a suggestion for an entire branding.

1767  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [AИN] NODE aka NXTLite - Puppet Removal has began! on: July 08, 2014, 06:16:25 AM
when is the launch?

1) Distribution of coin (start from 15 till 25 july)
2) Launch (27-29)

When do you plan to start the committee? You marked lots of people. It'll take days to deal with everybody.

I think it'll take weeks or even months.
You can give everyone a short deadline to make their case but that will piss people off to no end.
1768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM - New Economy Movement - Refund/Account Change Requests & Complaints on: July 08, 2014, 06:01:25 AM
@meyns: Yes. As we've detected you are on of two victims. Don't worry - you'll get your stake.
Noone other than me will pay for my mistakes.
1769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - Open Alpha Has Launched[Updates & Discussion] on: July 07, 2014, 09:20:36 AM
The recasting feature of NTX coin seems very interesting. NTX is a Chinese branch of NXT.

RECASTING Feature: Prevents the inflation of the block chains and makes the anonymity of the coin untraceable.  Recycle some lost forever coins after a few                     rounds of recasting.

Will NEM include such features? If not, is it possible to add RECASTING feature to NEM?

I think it is a good feature which will definitely benefit NEM. Devs should consider to add this feature to NEM.

00:19 <@gimre> TruthTaco_: I'm wondering how they want to ensure anonymity, there's almost nothing about that
...
00:27 < Hap_> Anonymity is a fad.  Darkcoin isn't going up from use but rather people speculating on the preceived 'value' of
anonymity.  I don't think the logic is particularly sound.  Almost nobody uses TOR or other anonymity measures.
              It's a very niche thing.
00:28 < Hap_> Great for pedophiles and drug dealers but that isn't the current crypto user or future user.
00:29 < Hap_> Nor is it proprietary.  If anonymity proves to be that important then everyone, even Doge, will rip it.
00:29 < Hap_> It's an one trick pony when coins specialize in anonymity.

Yes, I agree. Anonymity is for criminals and pedophiles of all kinds!

Right. It's not like people have to stay anonymous because they live in a country where free speech would otherwise be impossible.
Nothing like that on this wonderfull earth Roll Eyes

Can people still buy NEM at the AE of NXT or not?

I'm confused after the scam.

Yes. There is absolutely no reason not to buy them. There is actually good reason to buy them since they are so cheap now than NXT price is lower as well Smiley
1771  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - Open Alpha Has Launched[Updates & Discussion] on: July 06, 2014, 07:03:55 PM
I saw the sell order of the scammer on the AE exchange. Could the team buy back these stakes in the asset exchange? If not, who will ?

Is it safe to purchase these stakes on the AE or is it a scam?
nether the stakes or the asset exchange are scams. The asset exchange is a feature of nxt. Functions like a stock exchange of sorts and the stakes would be considered the stock or shares. 100% safe. Just be careful what you buy on the asset exchange. Some people have listed scan assets but men isn't one

men ? xD
Are we back to slavery ?

I would love to have a sneak peak at coinmarketcap in say  Huh 5 years or so  Cheesy

Imho cmc isn't really reflecting the state of a coin and most definitely not of a movement. LTC is no better than any of the other forks yet it's 2nd Smiley
1773  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [AИN] NODE aka NXTLite - Puppet Removal has began! on: July 06, 2014, 06:58:39 PM
Did you guys at least anonymize the IPs before storing them somewhere ? Like hash them or alike ?
Anything else would have been messed up imho (and actually illegal without any sort of EULA / Privacy statement).
1774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - Open Alpha Has Launched[Updates & Discussion] on: July 06, 2014, 04:49:59 PM
NODE's sockpuppet list has been discredited on their thread. Apparently they were grouping people without any substantial proof.

In NEM's case it just means we have those 6 to 8 tokens which are going to be firesold by the scammer.  NEM's price is inevitably going to go back up, so this is the time to buy.

It's a bit dissapointing actually. For all we know their method could be brilliant but if they call it "experimental calculation" and "the secret" method it's imho worthless.
If they can't show their proof then it doesn't count as proof - at least not in my book.

Appearantly they've also been taking the puppets we've found into account.

But let's get back to NEM Smiley
1775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [AИN] NODE aka NXTLite - Puppet Removal has began! on: July 06, 2014, 03:58:56 PM
I think Koop's approach is diplomatic and fair. Most of the detected socks will simply accept their fate especially if they are blatant socks and the evidence is against them. If there are exceptions where a user can show they are not a sock, they just have to present their case and the community can decide.

What else can we do that is both fair and protects the integrity of Node? This is the best approach to take.

I'm very much for eliminating socks but the problem here is that sometimes there is no real evidence.

"experimental calculation", "the secret method".

That for me doesn't count as real evidence unless it's abundantly clear how it was generated.

Some socks are obvious, others aren't. How is anyone to argue against a secret method ?
1776  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [AИN] NODE aka NXTLite - Puppet Removal has began! on: July 06, 2014, 02:59:25 PM

We stated that our method of identification is 98% accurate leaving for an error margin of 2%! To cover for those 2% we are building a committee of Honest Node Members that will act as judges and will make the final decision upon certain situations: For instance the "rockhill" situation. (with no offense)

May I ask what exactly that method is and how you come to such exact percentages ?
1777  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DO NOT BUY NEMSTAKE FROM THESE ADDRESSES!!!! on: July 05, 2014, 06:00:53 PM
I suggest doing a full account validation if there aren't enough independent copies around (3 is a minimum). The auditing was for taint analysis as I read, account validation is for a different purpose: making sure all accounts in the list are qualified.

I'm not sure what you're talking about right now. You are aware, that there was already taint analysis done, before final stakeholders list was published, right?

edit ok, I've misread, whatever account is eligible or not is actually checked before issuing token (i.e. if it's on the list (obviously), if it hasn't been banned)

What about accounts not requesting tokens ? Are you sure that UF did not add 100 accounts into the list before he resigned ?

Are you sure the NSA didn't add 800 accounts ?
Let's try not to make up complete crap shall we ?
1778  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DO NOT BUY NEMSTAKE FROM THESE ADDRESSES!!!! on: July 05, 2014, 05:27:37 PM
This should be closed because the title is misleading. Make a note in the token issuance book if needed but "do not buy" thread does not do anything except to confuse people.

Pat take this stuff down. This stuff happens all the time. I feel bad it happened to you. You are a great asset to the NEM community, but there is no point to this and nothing should be halted.

You want to make sure nothing like this happens again?

Well, I would imagine it won't.

What other scams are out there? Countless!!

But we can't let the scammers stop the show. That is much more costly than 6 stakes!!!

I think you can't delete threads here but even if I could I wouldn't.
If we have learned anything from UPs mistake it's that we have to be transparent about stuff like this. That's exactly what I'm doing.
We could have kept this a secret. Noone would have known, Noone could have known.
The fact that we were open about this should actually build up trust instead of hurting it.
This won't stop anything. Don't be absurd Smiley It's a few stakes out of 3000 - worse things have happend.

And just ignore CfA. He's some moron desperate for attention. He's the worst kind of a btt user and the entire forum knows it.

It is incorrect. As long as the list is open, the discrepancy will come out. Matching the toke issuance list with the final list is not a rocket science. I keep a copy of the whole stake list and I am probably not the only one doing so. From a stakeholder POV, each account = 1 stake and the total number are written down so in the end things have to add up.

What would have stoped me from changing the names so there was no discrepancy ?
It would have been easy to cover up.

I keep a copy * and probably many others. It is a distributed blockchain concept so that we can all agree on a shared ledger. If there is a discrepancy and doubt, we can go back to the funding threads and look for the account's post to confirm the account's validity. In fact, I would recommend NEM team doing a full stakeholder list validation given all the changes and mistakes have been made. It could take sometimes but the method is clear and non refutable.

* My copy is about 2 weeks old when I was first active here but someone could have even an older copy.

that 2 week old copy would have been worthless as the token issuance list was updated daily.

We did audit all tokens that we're issued.
The entire list was audited once already. During that process about 300 people were removed.

correct.
