The sad thing is that Spain lacked just a striker, that’s it. They play so well but because they do not have a great player known to score a lot, they lost and not looking great for the longest time and it has always been that problem. Not that they never had any, but they never really had anyone as good as Messi, Ronaldo, Mbappe, Haaland, Lewandowski, or even Benzema lately.
Spain just lost the player who can converse the tic tac strategy. They play well when playing ball to ball from back to center but when the ball goes to a center, there isn't a player to execute it like when Spain still has the trio of Xavi, Iniesta, and Busquets.
