181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Bitcoins on: August 15, 2011, 10:09:57 PM
I have a stupid problem,  we are in the process of setting up the dwolla account so I can fund my mtgox account,  the problem is that dwolla of course has the verification problem, which can take days till they get around to depositing the money so I can verify the account.

I need to purchase bitcoins for the bitcoin conference coming up so I can pay Bruce Wagner for a table spot!   Hence I am unsure if it will verify on time...  is there anyway I can purchase them now via paypal or credit card / debit card?

Anyone want to sell me 400 dollars worth of bitcoins at market rate + I'll add in 3% for paypal fees?

I will lend you 40 bitcoins if you promise to repay me 44 bitcoins in two weeks.

pm me if interested

can I just buy 40 bitcoins from you? ..  I really don't want to owe people stuff,  I just want to buy them.

Sorry, I am not interested in acquiring fiat at this time. The loan is my only offer (all the risk is on my side you must have noticed).

183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Ixcoin - a new Bitcoin fork on: August 10, 2011, 06:12:18 PM

"... there are currently ~580K Ixcoins (as of 10th August 2011)..."

Who, as a matter of interest, has these 580k ixcoins?

"The mining difficult is silly small - for a few hours at least... So start mining asap!"

By the time other miners could come on stream, the owner of the 580k ixcoins will have a lot more, out of a total of 21million.
Other than that, I don't see any purpose to this poroject, and much potential harm.

My main email address has been out there in the public eye for close to a dozen years now.  It has been posted on forums, websites, mailing lists, and even, God help me, USENET.

The throwaway address that leaked out of mtgox gets VASTLY more spam.

It's up!  Thomas Benoit & the launch of BitDriller.com  http://OnlyOneTV.com | global television network

[edit]: communication received from BitDriller. Seems they are ploughing ahead, and will compensate investors for the delay.

Bruce, would you kindly try to contact Bitdriller and ask them what's up? My pre-order investment in a 3-month contract which was delayed and then supposed to have begun on Saturday past has not received the promised notification. There have been no updates to their website, and now they are not responding to e-mails. I made the investment on the basis of your interview in episode 19. There is no contact information available to me, but I am hoping that there is to you since you had the phone connect with them. Please try to find out if they are gong to fulfill their obligations. This (at least to those of us who have invested) is as serious as the Dwolla matter.

Got the error message too, buy ok now. Site works for me, although I also am not a minimalist fan. I like color. Thanks for your contribution.

Iceland Declares Independence from International Banks:

Does anyone have any friends in Iceland to introduce bitcoin to? Or know any way to place an ad there?

It seems like the perfect place for wide, even state, adoption of bitcoin.

It seems an excellent production company known as MTB Media LLC has taken on my Bitcoin Ad screenplay and is going to make it a reality. However, labor is a scarce commodity and payment is required to make this a value-driven reality.

So, do you want Bitcoin to have more presence on the internet and beyond through a gorgeous, original advertisement?

Send your values worth of BTC here: 16R1YAUbAtbCQ2V8ztjN6BEeefyqgtAm9g

Your donation will be labeled, cataloged then sent to the production company as soon as possible.

Thank you!

2 btc donation sent. Onwards and upwards.
193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wild trading at tradehill on: June 21, 2011, 03:49:41 AM
Tradehill is run from a shared hosting account on hostgator.

Dedicated Hosting:
tradehill.com is hosted on a dedicated server.

http://whois.domaintools.com/tradehill.com

reverse IP look up says zero sites other than tradehill.com hosted at their IP address.

So I'd like to know how did you come to the conclusion that tradehill is being hosted at a "shared hosting account on hostgator"?

I'd like to know too!  Lardycake?
194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I just got hacked - any help is welcome! on: June 13, 2011, 11:32:59 PM
The more I read this thread the more absurd it gets

Work computer?
25k on computer used for browsing web?
UNENCRYPTED wallet on multiple websites?
Forensics can't do shit?

You must be either a troll or incredibly stupid. If it's the latter, and you obviously have no clue about online security, I suggest you still turn that computer off and hire someone reputable to take a look at it.

Yeah, I know he has over 800 posts. But "Allinvain"? The whole story reads like a very hip joke, or a deep cover sleeper troll.

"Allinvain" ----- get it?

I'm posting this from my spare account because I don't want to be hated by the other early miners...

I'm selling my 50k BTC in staggered amounts starting from tonight, and hopefully my impact on the market will be limited.

It's just not worth sitting on this kind of uncertainty anymore.

Bullshit!

198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ATTENTION The market collapses! Sell as quickly as you can!! on: June 05, 2011, 09:53:10 PM
Mods, any way we can get the little-boy-who-cried-wolf here a little education in alarmist posts?

I sure as hell hope not. He can say whatever he pleases about the market.

I more or less agree that he can say whatever he wants (yelling "fire" in a crowded theatre is not the same as the crass manipulation he is attempting).

I just hope that everyone realizes what a jerk he is, and prepares for all the manipulation attempts from every direction that will be coming our way as everyone from script kiddies to banksters try to take this game-changing technology down. Stay calm, make rational decisions.

So, just out of curiosity, why does the value of Bitcoin drop over weekends?

My guess is that it is harder to get new funds into Mt Gox on weekends (speaking from experience of one method I use).
