I have a Linux CLI. If I download Linux GUI, will it use the existing blockchain or start sync from scratch?

There is a road map here.
https://getmonero.org/resources/roadmap/

Multi-sig is assigned to be an ongoing task and this year. When it will be completed?

There has been discussion that coinbase will list Monero after the multisig is completed. After multisig implementation how long will it take when coinbase lists monero?

Isn't listing monero on coinbase like playing pornography in a monastery?

Yea.

The coinhive.com success will increase the risk of the 51% attack. So why should not we start more of these web-mining services? Mining will be decentralized more and there will be less 51% risk.

The Monero community for sure have ability to do this.

I think there are some people already working on it. I agree it is a good idea to encourage those efforts.

Hmm... Sounds good. So you think some people are working on, or do you know some are working on it?

And we need many of these webmining services. So that there for sure is as less centralization as possible. And to let the webminingpool fees to go down. Anyway what kind of a hardware/software/maintenance is needed at the webmining service provider side? If money is needed to start this, it will not be a problem. XMR crowd funding will do it in no time.

Yea. Definetely webmining is good for any coin. Specially as long as there is enough webminingpools to keep it decentralized.

Is there any ready fuctioning decentralized Internet available?

Zeronet! I love zeronet! https://zeronet.io/ If you decide to check it out hit me up. Just say its you in the thunderwave.bit chat. Maybe we can make some monero related stuff. Maybe a subredit on zerovoat or our own thunderwave clone for monero chat.

Seriously guys. Zeronet is so cool.

I have not tried these yet and have not been chatting there. Looks great anyway I will check these. Thanks.

This is slightly off topic but relates to monero by decentralization and privacy so I give myself a licence to ask here.

Is there any ready fuctioning decentralized Internet available?

I found these.
https://blockstack.org/
https://maidsafe.net/

But they seem to be beta this and beta that and under of development. Ready not yet and so on.

So if I would like establish for example a site for monero where domain and data storage and such are decentralized the way that they cannot be taken down by TPTB, how can I do it? Is there tecnology available?

And such easy way that I do not has to fight with it for weeks. Like such that ordinary CLI GUI linux crypto oriented user can do it.

I just downloaded The Linux 64-bit CLI from getmonero.org But I got the old version.
monero-linux-x64-v0.10.3.1.tar.bz2

Few minutes later I downloaded again and then I got the latest version.
monero-linux-x64-v0.11.0.0.tar.bz2

How could that happen?

I actually noticed I had got the old version when I was doing the sha256sum check.

Was there just few minutes ago going some maintenance on the getmonero.org so the files some way mixed or what happenened?

PSA: Users, (solo)miners, exchanges/merchants/services, and pool operators must be on CLI v0.11.0.0 or GUI v0.11.0.0 in advance of the scheduled protocol upgrade otherwise you will get booted off the network. Miners, please contact your pool operator to ask them if they have upgraded!

https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/6yuv2s/psa_users_solominers_exchangesmerchantsservices/

When the upgrade has to be done?

If the upgrade is not done, the wallet will just not sync?

I just has to replace the old files with the new ones? No need to start the sync from beginning?

I am running CLI wallet on linux.

What does this mean?

AES is very heavy, takes serious cpu beating to verify all the blocks, probably why it's taking so long despite the fast connection.

Advanced Encryption Standard?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Encryption_Standard

So better CPU and/or more RAM should make sync faster?

Monero Blockchain is now 26,4 Gb.

Block time is two minutes. The block size is at the moment about 0,35Mb. If remains this level for one year, there will be 30*24*365*0,35Mb = 91980Mb = 91,98Gb more after one year.

And the blockchain size will be 26,4Gb + 91,98Gb = 118,38Gb

Well this sure fits in one SSD. But in future there will be problems. There was some solution found to decrease block size to 1/4. There was something few pages back? I guess in this thread? Could someone find it for me? Monero Team should start implement it.

I synced my CLI wallet. I am running Ubuntu on fast SSD. First 1.100.000 blocks came in about 10 hours. Last 280.000 took about 72 hours. Is there any way to speed it up. Internet connection seemed not to be the problem.

Anyway thanks for the Team for great job! Now we enjoy the success.

Why

https://moneroblocks.info/                                        1.381.025
https://chainradar.com/xmr/blocks                            1.379.411
and my CLI-wallet                                                     1.381.421

each one show different top block for Monero?

Investopedia gives some reasons why NEO goes up.

Quote
The Team and Their Idea: Founded by Da Hongfei, the NEO team is one of the most professional around. While many new ICOs (initial coin offerings) have teams that expound upon the pre-sale of the coin and its potential value, NEO takes the opposite strategy. Da’s team are relentlessly accessible to the public and speak on the technology’s real-world applica

I highlighted that very good reason. That could be applied also by Monero Team. No need to be all the time available for media. But a little more. People just has to be told what are the privacy, the untraceabity and the fungibility.

... If we want the wider world to start taking Monero seriously, we need to bid farewell to the numerous in-jokes and historical references that few understand.

Is it true?

No. I'm talking bananas.

you guys should really stop talking bananas and trolling your own coin  holder,  be more professional like Dash if you want mass adoption by the wider world.

Billy Bunters bananas was I guess only irony for Hueristics question which also was possibly irony.

Billys points of in-jokes and historical references instead are true. Only insiders understand such. Such jokes must be left behind. At least outside of this thread. Even Monero could be the best coin technology available, that is not a reason to tell jokes about it. Because outsiders really do not understand them. I am serious about this. Just like noobtrader is.

I talked to Steve @ Srsrocco about the likely Monero upswing coming and Clif High, so you might see more bigger players in the Monero pump game this session as that information circulates through their circles.

What is your prediction. When Monero will be 100$, 150$, 200$ and 250$?

We ask our kind investors who have made mistakes, please check the files below:

Altcoins only

https://nvohq.slack.com/files/marto/F62JETMME/altstats.csv

If you are in there, the data record will look like:
NVO user id# (listed on nvo.io site);
eth escrow address; eth amount you put in;
similar for other altcoins going down the list ...
last two entries...
amount of bitcoin your funds add to
amount of nvot you'll be getting

I guess everyone are on that list who made investment by altcoins? Not just the ones who made errors? Devs even cannot know who made errors.

I am on the list and everything is as it should be. Addresses amounts and such.

I made investment also with bitcoins.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1O_YomnCDW4J04x07L7LGNf2fJ4F2eAhwy55szyhzDHk/edit#gid=896069712

There I am and looks fine.

Yea really the devs could make the announcements and such on nvo.io. It would be so much more easy for both. For devs and us investors.

If I have understood right, counterwallet is a web wallet and not so safe as NVO wallet wich will be a wallet that is on users own computer? So it would more safe to wait NVO wallet and import private key there?

In counterwallet the funds are transferred from an other address to counterwallets address by using the another addresses private key so that funds are sweeped to the counterwallet?

In counterwallet it looks like it is possible to create a watch only address by importing only bitcoin address there so you can watch there your tokens, but you or any attacer is unable to mofe the funds away from there?

I just made half an hour ago a deposit to nvo.io by ETH. I can see the ETH balance. Fine. But Why I cannot see the bitcoin balance even made the deposit yesterday and the transaction is definitely confirmed?
