my page 1337 post went back to 1336 manipulation!! Yes, I've been watching the 1337 posts in this thread and noticed them moving backwards in time (if you can call it that). It just highlights that BitcoinTalk should not be regarded as gospel when it comes to the history of any crypto, since posts are deleted all the time unbenownst to the masses.

Quite a reach you have with 63,000 followers I'm not surprised though - you have some really nice content on the site.

I'm trying to build Kryptohash core and QT. I believe all dependencies are met, but I run into an issue. I've done the following as per the readme: git clone https://github.com/kryptohash/kryptohash.git kryptohash cd kryptohash ./autogen.sh CPPFLAGS="-Ikeccak -Ikeccak/SnP -Ikeccak/KeccakF-1600 -I/usr/local/include" LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/lib -Wl,-rpath=/usr/local/lib" ./configure --enable-upnp-default --with-gui=qt5 make But I get the following back: OBJCXXLD kryptohash-qt /usr/bin/ld: /usr/local/lib/libprotobuf.a(common.o): relocation R_X86_64_32S against `_ZTVN6google8protobuf7ClosureE' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC /usr/local/lib/libprotobuf.a: error adding symbols: Bad value collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status I'm not sure if I just run make again with -fPIC, or where else this -fPIC option should go, if at all. Also, do I need to clean object files before recompiling? If so, how? Thanks folks Hi Bosco, Sorry, I couldn't answer yesterday. With the latest codebase 0.6.x, you are no longer require to build Boost with c++11 support. So, you can use all the standard libraries in your Linux distribution. See updated instructions here: https://github.com/kryptohash/kryptohash/blob/master/doc/build-unix.mdcd kryptohash ./autogen.sh CPPFLAGS="-Ikeccak -Ikeccak/SnP -Ikeccak/KeccakF-1600" ./configure --enable-upnp-default --with-gui=qt5 make Great, thanks. I have the pre-built binaries running OK just now, but I'll give this a go later.

because Bitcoin is the real innovation the first and only one crypto currency that has bright future ahead to secure the future and easy way to enjoy the early retire life.
Bitcoin and Litecoin are not fungible, like a currency MUST be. It also does not offer private transactions. Do you want everyone to know every transaction you are ever involved in, how much you get paid, how much tax you pay, etc? Bitcoin will be great, and may give you early retirement, but there are newer crypto's using new innovation which are fungible and offer the option of private transactions. They will surely take off in a big way over the next year or two.

OK, ta. For some reason I'd thought Claymore's miner was Windows only

I've just noticed there is no Linux AMD miner, or am I wrong?

Has anyone had any luck with Ipredia? http://www.ipredia.org/if you use ipredia and run a node on it.... do you essentially achieve the same goal as when i2p is integrated into Monero? It looks promising. Similar to tails right? Has anyone gotten Monero to work in Tails? I keep seeing conflicting reports. I haven't given it a shot due to the lack of persistence by design... don't know how I'd get a *useful* blockchain there. I guess theoretically you'd just use mymonero? Couldn't you just starting syncing? Or are these systems designed to be completely non-persistent, meaning you would have to sync every time. That would not work. NM, ima dumbass. tails does have an encrypted persistence option. https://tails.boum.org/doc/first_steps/persistence/configure/index.en.htmli goto sleep now. Encrypted persistence, yes, and it can save WiFi password, Electrum wallet details, Firefox favorites, etc in this persistent drive if you wish. However it doesn't save your i2p config and i2pSnark torrents. This handy guide shows you how to do that though https://www.reddit.com/r/sohhlz/wiki/index/i2p-persistent

This is extremely poor. Since one of these updates, I cannot access Gemz/BTC. I also cannot access the recovery seed words, despite knowing the 4 digit PIN code. So, how do I access my crypto? Sloppy work here devs

just added to the OP... here is the i2p web wallet! before you say the link is broken, remember you must be running i2p to access it ;p if you dont have i2p and think it sounds too complicated, its not at all! to access this wallet, go to https://geti2p.net/en/download and download the i2p software that is appropriate for your platform. after installation, run i2p (no window) and then set your favorite browser's proxy to 127.0.0.1 4444 (in settings > network > lan) depending on your browser. then just put in the i2p address in the browser (6qw45a2jt2dkbj3ebozhcxjbpkhdsbnse5v4funsrt2wm2e6cuva.b32.i2p/) and wallah! if you have trouble, just drop me a pm and i'll give you a hand Is it down? I've used i2p a fair bit, but this link no worky

After a recent update my balance says 0, and I am unable to get my mnemonic seed word out of the app. It accepts my PIN code, then thinks about it for a few seconds before telling me "Could not unlock passphrase". Any way to recover from this?

I found a couple of typos in the command to install dependencies for Monero build on Linux Mint 17.2. There were a couple of _ where there should have been - For anyone else building on Mint 17.2: sudo apt-get install -y git gcc-4.9 cmake libunbound2 libevent-2.0-5 libgtest-dev libboost1.55-dev libboost-system1.55-dev libboost-filesystem1.55-dev libboost-thread1.55-dev libboost-date-time1.55-dev libboost-chrono1.55-dev libboost-regex1.55-dev libboost-serialization1.55-dev libboost-program-options1.55-dev libunbound-dev build-essential libssl-dev libdb++-dev libdb-dev git clone https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero.git cd bitmonero make

This is getting frustrating, i'm starting to think there is some sort of bad information going on here.
Why are there tons of disfunctional nodes embedded in the exe file since its been updated yesterday ?
There is no such thing as embedded disfunctional nodes. There are nodes out there which have not updated, but still try to connect to the network. If your node is up to date, it will reject/disconnect/ban these other nodes. You will see the disconnects as red text in your own node, but this is not a bad thing. Just ignore it.

I have no idea what they are doing. They are certainly aware of the upgrade and have said they are upgrading on Monday (why wait?), and if you look at their trollbox you have users telling other users to stop wasting their hashrate by mining, the support guy on there ignores it and they for some reason they don't just turn it off. Very strange. Mining is strangely profitable (in terms of Aeon) right now on Minergate. A lot of people asked the support what's up with these mined Aeons and he said it's all good. How?... Minergate have not updated, so they are not mining the correct chain. Because there are so few mining this incorrect chain, you will get a very high proportion of the incorrect chain hashrate and it will look like you are getting lots of coins. But these coins will NOT be usable with the correct chain. Don't hash there, as you'll receive NOTHING in return, so it's not profitable at all

I still think Litenote would be a better name but I like seeing the progress plus I can live with AEON. I know it's not really up for discussion right now, but I like "Ping". It's short and catchy, and the name suggests it's quick and easy somehow. If someone asks how you want paid, you can say Ping me. That could catch on... I think with Litecoin, many people think (rightly or not) it's a crypto that's just for pure speculation, and personally I wouldn't want AEON to be likened to that.

Any news about KHC? No news is good news I'm working on a new feature for the Android Wallet that I hope it is going to help make KHC more popular. But, I'm not giving out anymore details today. After that, I'm going to work on enhancing KHC to handle the multiple region codes that are available today as one big 'happy' multi-blockchain coin. The goal here is to increase the Transaction Per Seconds (TPS) to match or exceed Paypal, VISA or Mastercard. This is a lot of work so, don't expect this new feature to be available on the next release. Other than that, the coin has been very stable. Wallets work fine but, unfortunately there aren't too many people mining the coin anymore. I'll be back mining, just as soon as I've gotten a Linux miner setup again. On a headless Windows box I can't control the GPU clock and it gets too hot for my liking. Keep up the good work and I'm sure people will come to this coin.

child_harold,
You seem to dance around the subject of 82%. Most people, I believe, understand this coin is a scam because 82% was mined prior to it being made public. Whether a faked blockchain, or mined in private, this fact means investors cannot take it seriously. Why would they when such a small group of people control so much? This is the point which cannot be refuted, although you suggest this isn't a problem. Why is it not a problem? Please don't answer by saying the tech is amazing, XMR sucks, CN/BCN are the creators/Gods, whatever. Keep to the point.

Try:
chown -R <your_user_name>:<your_user_name> ~/Monero/bitmonero/
Close your console if you never did after latest installations (env variables messed up?), open new one. Then:
make clean make
I did everything you said, including closing out the terminal and reopening. After using the "make clean" command it warned me it would delete my wallet, which I agreed to. Then I used the "sudo make" and regular "make" command again and got this error both times: mkdir -p build/release cd build/release && cmake -D BUILD_TESTS=ON -D CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=release ../.. && make -- The C compiler identification is GNU 4.8.4 -- The CXX compiler identification is GNU 4.8.4 -- Check for working C compiler: /usr/bin/cc -- Check for working C compiler: /usr/bin/cc -- works -- Detecting C compiler ABI info -- Detecting C compiler ABI info - done -- Check for working CXX compiler: /usr/bin/c++ -- Check for working CXX compiler: /usr/bin/c++ -- works -- Detecting CXX compiler ABI info -- Detecting CXX compiler ABI info - done -- Could not find DEVELOPER_LOCAL_TOOLS in env (not required) -- BOOST_IGNORE_SYSTEM_PATHS defaults to OFF -- Could not find DEVELOPER_LIBUNBOUND_OLD in env (not required) -- Building for a 64-bit system -- Could not find DATABASE in env (not required unless you want to change database type from default: lmdb) -- Could not find Berkeley DB >= 4.1 (missing: BERKELEY_DB_INCLUDE_DIR BERKELEY_DB_LIBRARIES) -- BerkeleyDB not found and has been disabled. -- Looking for include file pthread.h -- Looking for include file pthread.h - found -- Looking for pthread_create -- Looking for pthread_create - not found -- Looking for pthread_create in pthreads -- Looking for pthread_create in pthreads - not found -- Looking for pthread_create in pthread -- Looking for pthread_create in pthread - found -- Found Threads: TRUE -- Could not find miniupnp -- Using miniupnpc from local source tree (/external/miniupnpc) -- Looking for libunbound CMake Error at /usr/share/cmake-2.8/Modules/FindPackageHandleStandardArgs.cmake:108 (message): Could NOT find OpenSSL, try to set the path to OpenSSL root folder in the system variable OPENSSL_ROOT_DIR (missing: OPENSSL_LIBRARIES OPENSSL_INCLUDE_DIR) Call Stack (most recent call first): /usr/share/cmake-2.8/Modules/FindPackageHandleStandardArgs.cmake:315 (_FPHSA_FAILURE_MESSAGE) /usr/share/cmake-2.8/Modules/FindOpenSSL.cmake:313 (find_package_handle_standard_args) external/unbound/CMakeLists.txt:33 (find_package)

Given the libunbound error, berkeley db error, openssl, etc, I don't think the initial dependencies are being installed for whatever reason. I had this problem before the guide for mint was written, and just one by one installed each of them until it worked. I'm pretty sure the install apt-get command given is correct though. I can check later to see if anything is missing.
