361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 17, 2014, 02:56:54 PM
According to the pool stats I'm putting out 39H/s.. but the concern is the network hash rate is huge.. 572KH/s.

Moneropool.org says 1.75 .. down from 2.x this morning..

moneropool.org is up to 2KHs, (average of 26Hs per user).  But that's still only 0.3% of the reported network rate of 575Khs.

So either a large botnet is mining, or someone's sitting quietly on a much more efficient miner and raking in MRO.

And the pools report last block found on network "about a minute ago", yet the pools themselves find nothing for hours or days. I have 5 CPU's mining with 95 H/s. What kind of setup is making up the rest of the hashing power? Maybe someone has sorted themselves out with a working GPU miner...
362  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [MRO] Monero logo contest - 300 MRO bounty on: May 17, 2014, 02:51:25 PM
Could someone recommend good software for this please? I fancy giving it a shot. Ta.
363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 17, 2014, 02:26:57 PM
So looks like I'm averaging about 20h/s, could be higher with all 8 cores and not working simultaneously.

Should I take a shot at solo mining?

I went 4 days solo mining with maybe 70H/s and found no blocks. Difficulty up since then, so I'd say pool mining is the way forward
364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [MRO] Monero logo contest - 300 MRO bounty on: May 16, 2014, 11:07:27 PM
I also like sadface's logos. the one on the right especially. I hope you don't mind, I stretched out the legs on the M so folks can see how it might look:

how much time to sync without the blockchain? I cant realize where to put the chain in order for the wallet to use it. srsly.

long time.

are you on windows 7 or 8? If so, it goes here: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Bitmonero\blockchain.bin

This is one reason I recommend just be patient and solo mine if you are a small scale miner. You avoid all problems with pools, not just integrity and hacks, but also one more layer of bugs on top of the coin software itself.

(Your hash rate is likely zero at this point.)

With that said, I may launch a pool for Monero once the pool software is reliable enough for me to recommend it. It will have some features that are unique anywhere in the crypto space. If you want an invite send me a PM with "pool invite" in the subject.

lol. that makes sense. I was testing it on a 10 year old shitty laptop. I'll point my i7's at this pool tomorrow and give it another go.
367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Cinni | PoS | No premine | No IPO on: May 16, 2014, 08:10:32 PM
Maybe CINNI should be talking up "coin control" more - I understand that it offers some actual anonymity to transactions that no one (including DRK) has fully enabled as of yet.

BlackCoin, ECCoin and others have coin control. Not sure if it is the same implementation though.

In BlackCoin and ECCoin it simply allows you to choose which coins you send. So you can keep older coins for staking. Doesn't make anything anonymous.

Does the CINNI implementation do different?

Monero (MRO) is a truly anon coin. Brand new, not a clone of bitcoin. Anonymous transaction built in from the start using ring signatures.
368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 16, 2014, 08:04:37 PM
why is this shit so hard to use? it's not much better than a premine if no fucker can use it because the relevant tools and info, are all too scattered and inaccessible.

You should persist. Instructions here are quite straightforward: http://www.monero.cc/

It's a new type of coin. Not a clone of bitcoin. So, it needs developed. You could just be glad you have the chance to get in early  Roll Eyes

370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 16, 2014, 07:13:08 PM
i'm also waitting for a optimized cpu minning tool, it seems that somebody has that version, now it's unfair for vs whice use the old tool~~

Why would you do that when mining with the existing miner is still very profitable? (And I would add does not risk wasting your time mining unspendable coins or other problems, as happened to people using another too-hastily-released mining tool.) Testing is good. Be patient.

I mined with 4x Core i7 3770 for four days straight and didn't find a block. doesn't seem profitable to me. was I just unlucky?
371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: May 16, 2014, 06:34:17 AM
So is the darksend more than 10 now?

And what is your rebuttal to byttecoin was the first anonymous coin?

Bytecoin was unknown until March, so it's been a coin mined etc... by a small group of insiders for the last two years.  Since nobody knew they existed, how could anyone have known?  They also still have no gui, and as only a small group of people own most of the coins, it seems too centric and will have a LOT of growing (community wise) to do to catch up with us.  Darkcoin is WAY ahead of them on all fronts, and I don't think we should take down the sign that says first.  But if it makes everyone happy, we could update it to say 'First known anonymous coin'.   But to tell you the truth, I don't care  Tongue  Grin

OH, and I don't think we can send beyond 10 yet, though I haven't tried.  I seem to remember Evan saying that would be for RC3

Cool answer. is bytecoin really anonymous? And no I wouldn't change it either

This anonymous stuff is quite the bitch to really pull off I guess. What's the deal. I just love seeing these other coins saying they have darksend working. total scams i would imagine lol

Yes, it is anonymous. It uses CryptoNote's CryptoNight algo. However the pre-mine has put people off. Monero has wiped out the pre-mine and is gaining ground fast. Very active dev's and community just now, with exchanges specifically for CryptoNote coins popping up.
372  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [MRO] Monero logo contest - 300 MRO bounty on: May 15, 2014, 08:16:06 PM
Check this guy's logo out: http://mattiamesaglio.it/

It's clean, modern, and has quite a mysterious quality to it which ties in nicely with Monero's anonymous transaction feature. It would also look good and memorable as an app icon on a mobile phone.

I have no logo making skills, but if someone can do something similar....

374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★ [ANN] ECCoin (ECC) ★★★ ECCoin Contest Winners Announced on: May 15, 2014, 12:44:37 PM
The longer it takes, the sell walls stuck up more volume at lower prices, keeping the coin from growing. Think of it as a very young plant, with someone stepping on top of it. The 16BTC sell wall at 4sat will most probably go down at 3 sat, when people notice the maximum buy orders are at 2 sat.

I have my doubts with these sell walls...I can't see why people keep 16BTC in coins on an exchange, just to keep the price down, while they can get 25% stake a year in their wallet....doesn't make sense to me. If they want to make money, keep your coins in your wallet, let the value of the coin increase and then sell in bits.

Why these BIG sell walls, what's behind this game?

I think some people maybe buy at 3 sat, then immediately place a sell at 4 sat. That way, given the 2-5BTC per 24 hours volume, they will probably make 33% in only a month or less. Why keep coins in your wallet for a year if there's more to be made trading like this?

A multipool will make all the difference I hope. Keep up the good work hostmaster. You'll have my hashes when I get my rig.
375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 14, 2014, 07:25:41 PM

Cool!

Will this hash faster than mining directly using bitmonerod.exe?
376  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 14, 2014, 06:56:50 PM
It would be good to place this how to for ubuntu 13.10 in OP   https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.msg6392978#msg6392978

That guide is old. It is way easier now. Instructions are here: http://monero.cc/getting-started/

Basically, one line installs the everything, including dependencies:

Code:
cd ~ && wget https://www.dropbox.com/s/3pclp7sm94edmxl/install_monero.sh && chmod +x ./install_monero.sh && ./install_monero.sh

what the current block reward appromarively ? It's kind of foggy to me with that math formula...

17.x coins per block
378  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: CryptoNote Exchange on: May 13, 2014, 11:14:09 AM
Sorry about the delay guys, the btc cron job went down. It's a catchable error so I'll be fixing that today, then it shouldn't happen again. BTC deposits have been credited and should work fine now.

Yep, sorted. Thanks
379  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: CryptoNote Exchange on: May 13, 2014, 10:29:47 AM
It's frustrating, but I'm sure it'll be resolved. As folk have said, it's a new exchange and we should just be patient. I think our coins are safe, as Kozi seems to be a long time member of bct.

///If you have waited for more than 1 hour on deposit, contact us. Occasionally cryptonote wallets may freeze and cause further delay due to having to manually reset.///

I already submit a ticket in the support page..Is there any other way to contact  customer service?

You are not alone. I have now been waiting 12 hours for a BTC deposit.

There is a thread specifically for this exchange though, so that's probably the best place to be posting https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=605326
