Apologies for the confusion. AM is not at risk being the Bitcoin chip supplier of choice for this operation. Keep in mind there will also be a shift to Scrypt mining in the future, at least partially.

For DTM it's most important to deploy capacity in order to fully utilize the potential of fast deployment and efficient operations. Having manufacturer support is an important element and it is in the interest of ALL chip manufacturers for their customers (miners) to be successful and "come back for more".

My buy order for AM1 for ฿0.19205408 just executed, what do you think? Smiley
You couldn't wait another minute? You would have only paid  ฿0.19205407!

srsly, I expect that will reward you many times over.

And what happens if someone wants to make a physical 'coin' from one of these 'bits'? What do we call that?
Bits.

Context is king and language evolves.

I don't like this kind of system I think its not needed its pretty simple to understand what 0.00001 means now. No need to bring in a new system which would just confuse existing users.
lol, oh that's really funny, thanks, I love that dry sense of humour,  Grin

I think the US Gov sell-off is a storm in a teacup. I'd be surprised if there aren't already bids at or above market for the lot. So imho no effect on AM.

Well considering they need to wire transfer 200,000 to the exchange before the auction
And that the bidding has a fixed period their probably are no bids yet lol
Until bidding starts that is

As for the hashrate well Friedcat is selling chips so their is always demand for those
Even DIY miners because of the open source project
Registration opens 23rd; I should have more explicitly stated bids prepared and ready to register. The point was the effect on AM though.

edit: such as these guys http://bitcoinvox.com/article/239/investment-firm-to-bid-for-seized-silk-road-bitcoins

That black strip on handles, is that a friction strip for stacking?
That was my first thought; second thought was that I think I'd be clamping them together as well, just in case.

191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Runoff Poll: "ubit" vs "centoshi". Which should be the rival to "bit"? on: June 05, 2014, 02:24:46 AM
we know the technical terms; the whole idea is find non-technical terms.
Microbitcoin is the full technical term, microbit is the shorter casual version. There's no need for anything else.
Yeah microbit isn't too bad, but it's about more than simply casual versions of existing technical terms.

It does away - from a UX perspective - with centi, milli, and micro, and proposes using natural (or counting) numbers: 500 bits, 5,000 bits, 100,000 bits.

It's about changing to a 'normalised' currency format that most people will readily understand.
192  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Runoff Poll: "ubit" vs "centoshi". Which should be the rival to "bit"? on: June 05, 2014, 01:51:32 AM
It's microbit. End of story.
microbits are too small, not needed yet
What does that have to do with anything? This thread is about what to call 100 satoshis (aka 0.000001 BTC). Microbit is the most organic and technically correct term I've seen so far. It's also the accepted term according to the wiki.

Quote
0.01 BTC = 1 cBTC = 1 centibitcoin (also referred to as bitcent)
0.001 BTC = 1 mBTC = 1 millibitcoin (also referred to as mbit or millibit)
0.000001 BTC = 1 μBTC = 1 microbitcoin (also referred to as ubit or microbit)

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/FAQ#What_do_I_call_the_various_denominations_of_bitcoin.3F

PS - 'Bit" is a ridiculous term for 1 μBTC because it has no relevance. If anything Bit should be another term for Satoshi.

Talk about fighting a losing lost battle.

ubit - (confusingly pronounced both 'mubit' and 'youbit') would quickly get shortened to 'bit' in common usage anyway, so you may as well go straight to bit, as indeed everyone seems to be doing

and centoshi, who knows wtf that is
centoshi is a hundredth of a satoshi.. definitely not 100 satoshi
next: millitoshi, microtoshi  Smiley

general trolling

The sockpuppetry is weak with this one. You'll have to try harder, buddy.
You're not wrong, to call it (and bbxx) idiotic would be too kind. AM deserves much better trolling than this.
