1801  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: March 01, 2014, 01:03:58 AM
Did it give you any boost in performance or extra useful settings?
Also did it save your existing settings like some of the other firmwares do?

Con Kolivas <kernel@kolivas.org> also develops firmware for the Avy, so I am surprised he hasn't come out with an update. But I have alerted him to this post so hopefully he comes out with something soon; I find his updates are better than YiFU's. Smiley
My avalon fell below profitable mining so it's gone. Hence I'm not doing any more firmware.
Actually I still have all my automated scripts for building it lying around, so if you're brave, here is firmware that is done completely blindly and totally untested for 55 and 110nm avalons with cgminer 4.0.1

http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/avalon/20140228/openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr703n-v1-squashfs-factory.bin

Working fine so far on one of my 55nm, will try on all the machines now

Thanks!
1802  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: March 01, 2014, 01:01:33 AM
Thanks, I just dl'd it.
I will have to decide now if I should try it or not.
Does it give any advantages that make it worth the risk?

That makes sense as well.
It was a good thing.
I like that here we are still having regular results because the pool is so well maintained and the users dedicated.

Anybody else notice the 1000 Th/s drop in pool speed since the diff change this morning?

Speed is only down a few hundred TH.  Nowhere near 1000.

It was a quick bounce, probably as everyone was starting over at the new diff at the same time.

Same here, I live in Northern NY and we have had so many -40 nights and days on end of -10 to -15 in a row this winter it brings back memories of growing up in the 1970's.
This is the first year in the last 10+ that the snow did not melt all away at least twice by now during the winter.

I hate you.  Tomorrow will be the coldest day of the last 10 months here in SoCal - get down to a chilly 49F at night.  I swear God mad this the hottest winter in history on this side of the US.

How are you regulating the humidity if you're bringing in outside air?
Oh man. 49F is like a heat wave up here!

For humidity control, we shut the window a few inches when it starts to snow.  Grin Grin Grin

Probably some company sending out it's inventory to people who pre-purchased miners.

Yes but at the same time we have been on a good run of luck too.
I hope it stays and some people come back.

Kinda makes ya wonder where they all went to.

That is super fast!
You cannot beat that kind of service.
He would make a killing if he started selling the Ant S1's with that kind of shipping speed.

Thanks I had received my tracking info a night or two ago.
You really are fast even with all the havok you had that day.  Much appreciated.

Mine arrived this afternoon, which is some sort of shipping miracle.  Kudos to the man for being such a boss.

LTCRabbit is an excellent pool to use for LTC only.
https://www.ltcrabbit.com/#afkun1
I use them almost exclusively now after trying out several pools.

Received LA3M today, thank you!

What's the good pool to mine Scrypt?
Maybe LTC only pool if there's speed issues with multipools?!
1810  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin Mining Network Hashrate - Where is all this power? on: February 28, 2014, 06:21:25 PM
Wow that is a great article.
Thanks for the link.
I have to reread this just to take it all in.

And yes I totally agree they should ship the products they have new and not used.

I would prefer that they not lie to us and ship our product!:D  Shouldn't selling something as new that is used a crime?

as far as network hash rate...I like this guy's view

1811  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin Mining Network Hashrate - Where is all this power? on: February 28, 2014, 04:17:52 PM
Nope I prefer them not to lie to us at all.
I was just referring to the KNC articles and news reports that had been out lately.  Not one of them had addressed the mining with pre-ordered miners.
It is a grey area for sure.
I do like the fact that more people know about it now though.

I've seen allot of stories on KNC too and all of them fluff pieces.  No one really calls them to task for doing that or any other company for that matter.

One big one is that many of these companies mine with the gear they pre-sold before they ship it out thus making a double profit.

^^^Mainly this IMO.^^^

Have a look at the video in the link below for an exampleof this. It is KnC building a big server hall in the North of Sweden. Most likely filled with miners that mine for a few weeks before being shipped out to waiting customers...

ManeBjorn, you're not looking in the right places obviously.  Go read in the Hardware thread.  Avalon got called out on it a long time ago even though they stated that they would never do such a thing unlike their competitors:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=236348.0

BFL has also mined with their customers units, although the proof is not as damning as with Avalon which is blantantly obvious.

I do not own any KNC hardware currently.  The company seems as legitimate as we're going to see from a hardware manufacturer and they are admitting to mining.  Would you prefer they lie to you?

1812  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Closed - Group Buy]Dualminer USB ASIC sha/scrypt miner $85 [USA Only][Batch #2] on: February 28, 2014, 04:41:26 AM
Also check the LTC and Dual mode switch.  Sometimes it is not all the way in either position causing the issue.

Has anyone had trouble with theirs? I jut got my hub today and am trying to mine with the 3 I have, 2 of them are up and running fine, the third is being detected but not starting.

Thanks for the fast turn around especially with everything going on.

I was a bit surprised to see the U2's were the same speed.  I was hoping they would be faster or maybe a dual chip like the BiFury device's.
I hope they work on something like that next.

OK - got my glitch fixed around 3 pm today (took me 4-6 hours to find a replacement PC with two NIC's to rebuild my Router that does Firewall, Spam Filter, Ad Blocker, Web Filter, reporting etc).    Between that and my day job it was busy.

31 Packages shipped today around 6:30 pm (2 orders did not - 1 person PM'd and other person I have to PM yet tonight).  I'll go through and PM the 3-4 people without emails, the rest should have gotten tracking #'s already.

I do have about 50 left, and I will follow up with 2-3 people who PM'd me those requests.

Towards the 500 next batch, I would assume they are the bigger heatsync, which means shipping box and quantity might change a bit due to design of box etc.

Monty Python always makes me laugh.
The Don't worry be happy song was cool for the first couple weeks when it came out then it got so overplayed I remember me and everyone around me hated it.  LOL
Now it is fun nostalgia.

Good links thanks.

1816  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Introduction to DualMiner USB (could mine both BTC and LTC) on: February 28, 2014, 01:21:03 AM
I'm glad it is all set now.
I have days like that too.
 Grin

Have you tried moving the switch back to dual mode then back to LTC mode?
It almost looks like it is stuck in dual mode without the SHA-256 side registering.

It was still in dual miner lol, long day.
1817  Economy / Goods / Re: [ANN] Got a craving for sweets? Satisfy it with Sweetbits! on: February 28, 2014, 01:19:40 AM
Well the phone is listed as a Hillsboro MO, Jefferson county landline.
http://123phonebook.com/636-481-4466
I did not call it though.
No business is associated with it though but that could be if they are just getting if off the ground.
I really hope this is not a scam.
1818  Other / Off-topic / Re: Terrible Day on: February 27, 2014, 10:36:21 PM
Thank you.
I appreciate it.
I know sometimes things get bad and then good and inbetween.  I just have never expierienced anything like this.
Before breaking bones or dislocating joints playing hockey or professional wrestling was just a minor bump and I easily overcame it.
This back injury stopped me in my tracks.  I don't give up but sometimes I just want to so badly.

Thanks again.  I hope you have a great evening.

I feel so sorry for you. A cloud of bad luck has flown over you. I wish you all the best, and good fortune in the future.
Hope you recover soon!
1819  Other / Off-topic / Re: Terrible Day on: February 27, 2014, 10:34:13 PM
Quite true.
The last year and half has definitely been the bad end of Variance. LOL
I am trying to be positive it just gets very difficult at times.  Depression makes your mind go places you normally would not and think things that make no sense.
I am not giving up but sometimes I have to let it out or I go nuts.
Hopefully sunshine will happen this summer.  I need a break in my bad Variance for a change.

Thanks.  Smiley

Life has ups and life has downs (DURRRR). Learn to live with it or quit. That being sad sucks to be you, but after darkness comes... more darkness and maybe after that some sunshine! Variance irl.
1820  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Can I run a couple USB miners on same rig that is scrypt mining? on: February 27, 2014, 09:45:44 PM
Yes you can.
I use MultiMiner that way I can control which units mine which coins, as well as run my GPU's for scrypt and now even the DualMiner in Scrypt only mode.
