1801  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ICB] IcebergCoin | FIRST NIST5 POW/POS | ICO AVAILABLE ON BITTREX NOW! on: July 10, 2014, 01:56:08 AM
Dev, if you manage to actually get those BTC out of Bittrex, that's some pretty nice cash for a week spent copying TAC. I bet in a week we gonna see a whole new wave of smartasses trying to do the same. Oh well, if there's sheep, you shear them, so good on you!

im not sure about the exact agreement for releasing the ICO funds to dev but it would be nice if it were accountable

for example:
- need .5 btc for promo video > release .5 btc then show proof of payment (TX ID) and actual video

too much work though for bittrex probably but would be nice and give confidence in the ICO

Not really. It's pretty much exactly what poloniex is doing with their new ICD guidelines. Bittrex should follow suit. It'd certainly help them in the long-run assuming they plan future ipos.

Why, what's going on with Alcurex? I thought they were up and running again, no?

We can at least log in, but trading is still down. And we can't withdraw our coins.

Probably a good idea to increase signups over 200, and use a different method than just posting with wallet address in sig. You are going to get a lot of placeholder posts that probably don't say a whole lot.
1804  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FOOD]Plankton - Promotions/ Bounties - Don't trade on empty! on: July 09, 2014, 04:27:03 PM
so people still selling at low prices. wouldn't it be better if people took some sell orders down and held for a while imo

It's going to happen, can't be helped. I mean, even at 2-3 sats, it's 2-3x profit. Freebie people also tend to dump low, for some bizarre reason. I think of free coins like comm that were going for like 10 sats on some dinky exchange, then after polo, got up to like 250ish. Personally I think people should hold for a while, but profit is profit ... so some early sales always occur.

Although with how Alcurex is going, I think a lot of us will be waiting it out regardless. Hopefully it's not a shareex type of situation, or Alcurex will be the one eating up our food. I only have crumbs of food, as idiot me had wallet issues, planned to get around to fixing it and buying some ipo coins... and waited too long. Just have some freebie coins, so no giant loss if Alcurex eats them... but it's still annoying.
1805  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FOOD]Plankton - Promotions/ Bounties - Don't trade on empty! on: July 09, 2014, 02:00:34 AM

i was suppose to get free plankton but the wallet doesnt work???

Due to wallet issues I used the one on Alcurex. And they are currently down... so... expect a lot of people have food stored somewhere they can't get access to.
1806  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FOOD]Plankton - Promotions/ Bounties - Don't trade on empty! on: July 09, 2014, 12:11:42 AM

Although i love the 'adopt a whale idea'- I'll  look into it Grin

The savethewhales site has various donation options, but after looking over it closer, the site and their payment options look like they are from the late 90s. Their only payment option appears to be by check.

There are a couple of adopt a whale programs from various charities, I see, but if looking for a reputable one, I suggest World Wildlife Fund ... I used to donate there sometimes. They have an 'adopt a blue whale' program and take paypal.
1807  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FOOD]Plankton - Promotions/ Bounties - Don't trade on empty! on: July 08, 2014, 05:34:57 PM
Barely anyone is taking the misc promotion offer. Get creative with your Plankton marketing and I will reward you Smiley

Although someone else would have to set it up, if you want to get into promoting, I suggest something like setting up a donation fund for whale charities ... Save the Whales is a logical choice.

You can set up a straight donation, or set it up to adopt a whale one at a time (think it's like $25/whale).

Or instead of this food giveaway thingy (literal food), use that for whale related donations... whale t-shirts, whale totebags, etc are on that savethewhales site too. Or instead of food, give away copies of that Blackfish movie.

I'd guess you'd get more promo mileage for a good cause, than giving away food.

people throwing around terms like the coin will get anon...
Only one person here has falsely hyped about anon.

Do these kinds of rumors spread in Trollbox?

Please, stop believing everything that is said trollbox.
That goes for FUD as well as baseless hype.

I'll assume people understood the point I was making.

And the polo trollbox is like a hype/fud machine. They might as well just stick a big Pinocchio image right over the chat box. It can be amusing sometimes to see what people say, but if everyone just assumes that every statement in the trollbox is a lie, they'd probably be better off.
1809  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: July 08, 2014, 04:11:31 PM
Can some1 give an update about the current situation?

Sure, price tanked when devs vanished for weeks on end, remaining dev recommends that people sell their coins,  lead dev MIA, no access to xbc domain, no funds to pay coder... woe to all.

A couple of devs return, access to domain now available, somehow, people throwing around terms like the coin will get anon... price rises.

Read into that as you will.
1810  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FOOD]Plankton - Promotions/ Bounties - Don't trade on empty! on: July 08, 2014, 02:07:25 AM
Curious how this will do assuming it hits at least bittrex. It's difficult to tell with small exchanges like alcurex due to low volume.
1811  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: July 07, 2014, 07:09:30 PM

Ok it is really disapointing.  Cry  BUT .... XBC is not DCM.
Donīt understand this. XBC thread should be only about XBC. We have a situation here. This is not gonna help.
People involved in DCM scam are not here.....anymore

True, sort of. I believe Coinerz is on the level and is doing what he can to save the coin.

That said, two of the XBC devs were involved with DCM, one of those being the LEAD dev for XBC. Hence why he most likely vanished and the coin is in the situation it is currently. So there is a connection, whether we like it or not.

Let's see what Coinerz can come up with. In my opinion, the biggest current problem isn't the devs running away, nor negativity regarding DCM, but the lack of funding. Mindfox will want to get paid somehow, I expect.

They do have some time, as it appears as if Redd will take MP next week at current voting rates. Plenty of time for devs to miraculously return or come up with some revival plan ... which would line up great with the price dump/MP listing .... again, if I was the cynical sort, I'd say the timing makes sense.
1812  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ICB] IcebergCoin | FIRST NIST5 POW/POS | Join NOW! | Supported by BITTREX on: July 07, 2014, 06:49:24 PM
After the DCM debacle, I'd be hesitant with any Bittrex run ipo.

They should go with the same ICD guidelines Poloniex is currently using. That means the devs don't get their btc until they use them for what they say they will. There supposedly will also be strict bookkeeping and no giant lump sum payouts on Polo ICDs, as well.

So if a dev says ipo money will go for coin voting... they only get enough to pay for votes. If they need funds for hiring other devs, they just get that exact amount. That's how it should work.

The idea that an exchange will hold the funds and only payout after the wallet passes some tests is really a minimal sort of guarantee. It is better than the funding via this forum, to some btc address and no idea if you'll actually get any coins, but it's not that much better really. I'd also be hesitant to buy into any ipo that has a mining phase, as expect price dumps as soon as miners get involved.
1813  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 06, 2014, 09:46:01 PM
Didn't that Mike guy basically predict this same exact pattern like a month or so ago, based off of charts?

Down to .008-.01ish... probably rebound from there. I can't help but think of that blood in the streets saying... unless you need money right away, not sure why people would sell at these prices.
1814  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 06, 2014, 07:41:26 PM
About a month ago I discovered Darkcoin. I bought in over .02 after reading about what it was trying to do. I invested far more than I should have as I was certain it would keep going up.

I am in absolute despair right now, I still haven't told my wife how much I lost. Honestly, I'm terrified of the thought. It was money we could have used as a down payment on a house, or to send the kids to college. Money that pretty much would have been useful somewhere else.

Yeah, first mistake was assuming any crypto would keep going up with any certainty. It could all come tumbling down eventually, btc included... nobody knows.

That said, if it was me, I'd wait for RC4. Logically one would think the price would be higher then that it is now. But if you absolutely need the money now, just take the loss and live with it. Remember it's not an actual loss until you sell. And even if you take a loss, RC4 hopefully would be less of a loss for you.

Remember it's just money too. I know it sounds weird, but there are other things of much greater importance, health and family, for starters.

The way I treat Drk is if it's just a lottery ticket and I'll keep my little node and don't worry about the price. But I didn't really invest anything, so it's easier to ignore prices if there isn't much really at stake. If you were well versed in cryptos overall, I might suggest selling some, trading other cryptos, and recoup your loss that way, but based on your initial investment strategy I take it that isn't the case. It's also quite risky.
1815  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: July 06, 2014, 03:48:05 PM
We have access to the XBCplus.com domain host now. Things are being transitioned over. The FUD is rampant. I am not gone, i have RL obligations that were known by everyone.   I have made my RL contact info known also. Promote truth !

I'm not even sure there is that much FUD being spread, at least in the forums here. Basically everything negative being said is the same info given out by the two remaining devs. One of which suggested to  sell whatever XBC people are holding and just take the loss.  And rather than revive the coin, they may be better off making a brand new coin.

Interesting timing though, if team members do in fact all of a sudden return. If I was the cynical type, I'd even say it makes perfect sense.
1816  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin has the stupidest name? on: July 05, 2014, 07:00:06 PM
It is surprising at just how many poorly named coins there are. My vote would go to Boolberry, a coin that sounds like a weird brand of cereal. They chose that name after two naming contests, and that's what they came up with.
1817  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FOOD]Plankton - Distribution Phase LIVE 0.8 BTC left - Come get it whales! on: July 05, 2014, 06:14:36 PM
Nice logo, and it has that whale thing going for it. It probably would have been nicer to have something unique about the coin though code-wise.
1818  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: July 05, 2014, 05:01:59 PM
Without the domain + ftp access, I don't see how XBC can be saved really.

If you are genuinely worry about that it means you are retarded. A fucking domain + FTP access are gonne, ohh my God it is The End! No, it is not but it seems impossible
to wake up clueless people this days - and it is becoming worse with every new day. If you really think lack of developers (noob coders actualy) and others who were into
XBC means a coin death I suggest you to just sell all you have and move on. Stop with pathetic yellowpages shits here and elsewhere! XBC do not give a fuck about any of
you just like BTC did not give a fuck about Satoshi and other people who were involved with Bitcoin and then quitted. The only problem here is you brainwashed kids who
are clueless on almost everything and thus assign importance to that which is not important. An influx of mindless idiots here lately is just staggering, go fucking away finaly!

Seriously, go back to making noise about favourite football players, latest singers and actors, retarded YouTube, Facebook and Twitter shits and so on, that is your level.

Bizarre response.

I already stated earlier I sold my XBC once I saw where things were going several days ago. My comments are meant simply as a way to possibly help existing holders. It's more than just the domain/ftp access which is of course a problem -- the domain/ftp comment means Serious + Wallenstein are gone with the btc from DCM. Which means no lead dev and no funds (he was in control of the dev wallet). The negativity over DCM, devs vanishing with 22 btc, no funds to pay the coder (I wouldn't call mindfox a noob coder, as he has worked on several coins as a hired gun), are all problems.
1819  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: July 05, 2014, 12:36:42 AM

The ironic thing is I am not a troll or fudder.I have been a holder of this coin since the beginning and made many helpful suggestions on the IRC to the XBC community and here we are being told to cut our loses due to devs walking and to add insult to injury being spammed about a new coin by a dev from XBC.You could not make this up in a comedy script because it is neither funny or serious.

Yeah, I don't quite get what the plan supposedly even is. Telling people that this was a risk and they should be prepared to lose their investment probably isn't the best advice. Nor just saying sell at current prices and then donate for a new coin. I don't think a whole lot of people would really want to do that.

But does anyone have any workable ideas on how to salvage the situation?

Without the domain + ftp access, I don't see how XBC can be saved really. Nor should it probably with the negative associations to it. Best case scenario, some sort of short term team is put in place, coin coasts onto MP, and then dies. That assumes MP even takes it. I mean, have they taken coins without a dev team even present for the coin before?

A new coin idea could work, but there is no funding. And the idea of 'donations' from people selling their XBC then funding a new coin seems unlikely to me. Or am I misreading how people feel? It also doesn't really help those who just lost a ton on XBC. If they are going to sell for whatever they can get, they are better off putting that money into an existing coin.

The coin swap/ipo idea is the only thing I could come up with. And even then, it's very iffy and possibly no better than people simply selling for whatever they can get right now. Funding would have to come from somewhere. And unless people were getting coins in a swap, I see little interest in a new coin. Maybe people are confused when I say 'coin swap'... I don't mean a swap to just another version of XBC with a new name. I mean a fully developed coin, with extra features, which is a completely different coin.
1820  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: July 04, 2014, 10:06:48 PM
Maybe I should get a big red crayon and spell it out in larger letters..COIN SWAP or GO AWAY

Okay, as per your wishes, I'll retire from this thread now. However if anybody is interested in what I've said above then please contact me via private message and hopefully we can make some progress without having to deal with little children and their big red crayons. Smiley

Honestly think it's sort of silly to run away from this thread because someone is complaining. Actually I'm sort of amazed the response hasn't been worse. I've seen more fud/trolls/complaining in coin threads where everything was rock solid as far as dev teams go. So this is really nothing so far.
