Glad all the weak hands are selling before the beta.
Yesterday was fun. I'm not sure how many are really weak hands, though. I think some are trying to accumulate more coins still. I see a lot of buy orders switch to sell orders and back to buy orders, playing the market. But it's insane we're still pre beta and the coin hasn't even been added to Polo yet haha. I'm pumped. 1000 sats in a few weeks?? Hard to judge these things.  Grin

Yeah, if it were weak hands, sell pressure would be greater than it has been (at least I would assume so).

I tried the sell/buy-back game, and I need to remember I am god awful at trading. I don't have a ton of coins to begin with (bought 1 btc's worth at 61) -- I missed the ICO entirely (didn't even notice it). Thought I'd be smart and sell some at 178 .... at the time it was like 50% higher than the largest buy order. Of course not only it gets filled, but zooms past me to 275ish. Luckily (well, guess I'll eventually find out if it's lucky), someone dumped to me at 176 yesterday. Miniscule profit not worth the stress.

or who has access to the funds (which I still don't know exactly). I'll assume it's you and EK, but I thought I read somewhere another 3rd party would be involved.

I do not have, nor do I want to have, access to any funds. All I have is the signing key which is required to cosign Lannister's transactions. You also got that key now (PM). That doesn't mean that either of us has access to any funds, it just means that either of us is entitled to give the green light on Lannister's transactions spending funds from Elastic's wallet.

Yeah, saw that. Although I'm probably not the guy to get that key, as I'm not even currently invested in the project. When I asked who that 3rd party was, it didn't mean I wanted to be that 3rd party. Since lannister doesn't plan to publicly list what the funds are for, I'd never provide the key to him in the first place.
903  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XEL] Elastic Project - The Decentralized Supercomputer on: March 13, 2016, 09:02:01 AM

One thing I have noticed is that nobody here is using their real names.  That is the nature of the bitcointalk culture and it's unreasonable to ask the developers to do so.  As for escrow, the intention is not to develop a program, deliver it, then collect the funds as our reward.  The intention is to spend the money developing the project.  We can't do that if its escrowed.  Also, there's a list I've seen somewhere on bitcointalk giving a list of trusted escrows, and none of them that I recall were using their real names.

But it's your BTC to fund or not to fund, and if one of your criteria for doing so is "real names or escrow" then you cannot invest in this coin.

I get that entirely. If I was running a coin here, I wouldn't want to give my real name either. Too many crazies involved with crypto. But I also hold the opinion once you start asking folks for money, you should give them something... be it your real name, escrow, or at the least, one of those coin dev verification services (if they even still do that).

And even those aren't definite criteria for me investing in a coin. I've taken part in smaller ICOs where the devs didn't provide a whole lot of info. But it wasn't like here. Here it's like pulling teeth to even get the lead (or 3rd lead dev) to even respond with any info. And then we get vague answers back. Hence why it'd be nice if they were a little more forthcoming about themselves.

Ex: Okay, Lannister said he's a doctoral student in electrical and computer engineering. That's fine. Maybe a brief resume of projects he's worked on would have been nice. Or coding languages he knows. And why hasn't he taken part here in the discussion about the technical aspects of the coin?

What is the reason for starting a new thread? I've lost track... I think this is the 3rd of 4th thread for the coin now? I see this new thread is moderated, but there wasn't much need to moderate it really.

I forgot to mark the last topic as self-moderated when I created it. Unfortunately, topics cannot be converted to self-moderated topics after creation.
We have had an excessive amount of "trolling" to incite emotional responses and disrupt constructive conversations. A self-moderated topic is neccessary so such posts can be deleted from now on.

Hmm... if you say so. I don't recall much in the way of trolling over there, just a lot of questions (which I asked too). Although nice to see you responding to a post.

I'll ask you the same questions I asked in the old thread:

Who are you exactly? What is your background, what skills do you possess?
And who has access to the funds?

906  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LISK price speculation on: March 12, 2016, 09:15:02 PM
Well I'm shooting the dice I put in 5.9 BTC for 120,000 lisk  lets see , by the way what echanges do you think it will trade at and when is opening day for trading

If they were smart, they'd delay trading for a couple of weeks and put some marketing in place... maybe some Dapps contests too. Then just start slow, someplace like Bittrex. Build from there, then go to Polo and ideally a decent Chinese exchange (which I realize isn't exactly easy).

A delay tends to bring in more buy interest, and starting slow may keep the price semi-stable after the initial dumps, due to the lure of eventually getting on larger exchanges.
907  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: March 12, 2016, 08:20:33 PM
I want to buy LISK, but my Crypti from Bter are not withdraw. At whom such problem?

Everyone has had that same problem. Their hot wallet has been empty for the past several weeks.
If you bought your XCR cheapish, best bet may be to just cancel the withdrawal, sell the XCR for whatever you can get on Bter, and withdraw BTC. BTC withdrawals I think works (or worked a couple of weeks ago, anyway).
908  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [OFFICIAL] [SEC] Safe Exchange Coin [website www.safex.io] on: March 11, 2016, 08:20:37 PM
Nice, 200 sats! That's the ATH right?

Believe so. What was the ICO price, something like 5 sats? Crazy ROI already.

Yeah, gutted I didn't see this coin sooner, would have been holding a hell of alot more haha

Maybe... if I ended up buying at 5 sats, I expect I probably would have been happy selling at 50 for a 10x profit... so I'm not even sure if I got in on the ICO I'd still have any left.

Although it does make me wonder if ICO people still around will dump at any certain price level. Sort of happy they are holding as well as they have been.
909  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: March 11, 2016, 07:02:09 PM

I doubt if BTER has any XCR left in their wallets...

They have a cold wallet address (which I forget), that showed plenty of XCR a short while ago. But their hot wallet has been empty for a while.

I see XCR is still being bought up over there, albeit at a discount... guess some folks are hoping to get it cheap and still get it out before the ICO ends (or they don't know any better).

Only suggestion I could make to anyone with a stuck withdrawal is to cancel + sell your XCR cheap (assuming volume will support it). It might be a loss, but some loss is better than total loss.

That, or nag them non-stop via chat, and say you will start posting over here about Bter's imminent demise due to their empty wallets. Maybe the threat of bad publicity (not that they already haven't had a ton already), will get them to do something.

No way to check this, but those who want to get into ICO would get opportunity to do so. In the end, those BTC would go back to them anyway ...

EDIT. besides, we can sent PM with the exact amount we want to sell say 10 minutes before doing so.

That idea could work, IF Bter agreed to play ball. Such as if they agreed to some sort of 'token' than could be converted to Lisk, and so on. But it's most likely too late in the ICO game to arrange this really, and without a guarantee that the XCR seller was actually buying Lisk with the BTC received, not sure how that would work.

Keep in mind the Lisk devs don't have access to the BTC funds right now, so it'd have to come out of their own pocket to buy up the XCR on Bter. I'm sure there would be honest people wanting to get out, but I'd also expect some dishonest people too.

Where is the Lisk price speculation thread?

It's in the altcoin discussion area. Don't let anything said there influence how much you invest in Lisk, however. People mostly just say whatever they want to occur...

If they bought in, coin will skyrocket. If they are waiting until the initial dump on an exchange, coin will plummet. But there are some ideas posted as to what typically occurs with ICOs, and again, that idea about not being on an exchange initially.
913  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: March 11, 2016, 04:06:54 PM
Will this be available to trade right after ICO?

There's no exchange yet that has agreed to carry Lisk...but there will be soon.

Someone mentioned something in the Lisk price speculation thread that does make some sense... in a way, it may be better if Lisk wasn't listed on an exchange immediately after the ICO. It's psychological, but the fact that a coin is unavailable to purchase tends to make people more interested. So a short delay, perhaps with some marketing or Dapps contests, actually could benefit the coin by the time it hits an exchange.

It's also possible the coin could benefit from just being on Bittrex to begin with. The lure of eventually getting on Polo or larger exchanges might sustain its price level (or increase it), during the coin's initial dump period (happens with all ICOs, it's just a question of when).

Dink, I am really sorry to hear that you find the project "Cagey".

The problem, as I have mentioned to you, is that there are unanswered questions. When people ask them, you either answer in a vague, blunt manner, or just ignore them completely. Then you go off on a technical tangent regarding the coin. Yet we are all still sitting here, wondering who the dev team is, who has access to the funds,  and wondering why you ignored our questions. So that is why people think there may be some issues.

I'll assume Lionel was paid off. Although I still wonder what his original plan was, if he had devs onboard who simply transferred to you, etc.

I get this is supposed to be a loose collection of crypto enthusiasts working on the coin, but there is loose, and then there is 'so loose that we have no idea who anybody is, or who is in charge'. Even the latter could work (but is hardly ideal), if you weren't taking money for the project.

There needs to be one lead developer regardless, and at least one good coder. Everyone else can be that 'loose collection of devs'. Lannister supposedly is in charge, but he's not the one replying to people here. In fact, does he even read this thread at all? What is his background? Does he have coding skills? Who has access to the donated funds? Will you list how these funds are used, as you use them? Basic stuff.

915  Other / Archival / Re: Archived Content on: March 10, 2016, 11:11:53 PM
Poornamelessme: the website clearly states that the donated funds are meant to be used for development (and not for display only).
I mean, how can you cover the development costs without touching the funds that are meant for development?
In this case ... what are the funds for in the first place?

I am simply going by the original ICO rules (if you remember the old thread for this coin). Supposedly donations weren't supposed to be touched for a while (forget exactly how long). I believe you were the one who even suggested it, then Lionel confirmed.

But again, forget about that. You want all of the money right now, that's fine... not sure if anyone knows who even has access to the funds in the first place.

Please answer the other questions though.
916  Other / Archival / Re: Archived Content on: March 10, 2016, 10:56:12 PM
There are some very simple things that could be answered here to help with some concerns:

What happened exactly with Lionel? Who was Lionel and is he completely detached from the coin at this point? What was his actual plan?

Who is Lannister? His real name, his background, and who exactly has access to the donated funds?

Is there a ledger somewhere listing how these funds are used?

EK has made statements like without the donated funds the promotional video couldn't be made, or new website couldn't be created ... yet the donated funds weren't supposed to be touched yet (at least that was stated on the old thread). Can't have it both ways, one time saying all funds are safe and not to be touched, and later saying the funds are needed now to create videos/website.

Putting that argument aside, let us know who is on the dev team, what coders are attached and if Lannister is actually in charge of this thing now, it'd probably be nice if he posted once in a rare while. So far, there have been two 'silent lead devs', while EK is the one doing the talking all the time.

The technical aspects of the coin are obviously important, but most of that stuff will go over the head of the average investor. Basic info on the devs involved, how funds are handled, and so on, is basic ICO 101 ... no excuse not to provide this information.
917  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH will go to $100, then shoot up to BTC all time high on: March 10, 2016, 07:58:05 PM
You can pay with BTC at many stores around the world. If ETH starts doing the same i can see it will go to the moon too.

Except ETH isn't even really meant to be used as a currency.

And it's not exactly easy to get coins accepted at stores around the world in the first place. BTC is barely accepted, and at least a decent number of people know what it is.
918  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH will go to $100, then shoot up to BTC all time high on: March 10, 2016, 07:39:04 PM
I had been away from crypto for a while, but am still surprised the same tactics are used here. I mean, I know a large percentage of folks here are still looking to get rich and find the next btc... but hype based off of insane market caps, during an insane pump...

At $100+, we'd be looking at a cap than dwarfs btc.
ETH to BTC high, what are we talking about, a 90 billion dollar market cap?

Guess people hope to catch newbies who don't know any better, but there is a limit as to how far this pump can go.

As for any coin replacing btc short-term, if btc dies, I expect the entire crypto scene to die with it.
919  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LISK price speculation on: March 10, 2016, 06:58:14 PM
Personal guesstimation; shooting up to 4x current value in the first 24 hours after initial distribution, then a gradual decline. On the longer term it could go in all directions obviously.

I think the potential increase will be tied into what exchanges the coin starts on. Such as if it just starts on Bittrex, the lure of eventually being on Polo will drive the price up ... but that may not be a 24 hr thing. There will be an initial dump during those 24 hrs (happens with just about every ICO), but 4x may take days to a week or more, depending on when/if the coin gets on Polo.

If Lisk starts off on Poloniex, then yeah, it could be a quick pump (and/or dump).
920  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LISK price speculation on: March 10, 2016, 04:51:12 PM

like your tagline ..someone should see if LISK.IO wants to start a signature campaign on here for lisk or an avatar campaign for lisk ...hell it could pay in lisk or btc etc

just saying...(me too busy too lazy to ask) with my HUGE 1 btc investment in lisk (big spender hah) Smiley

Hmm? There has been an ongoing signature campaign (and bounties for sig/facebook/twitter/email)... hence why I have the signature I do. Although I do think that it's either winding up, or just ended. Only reason I ever change my sig is for freebie coins... I wouldn't even try to tell anyone to invest in Lisk (it's risky, like all ICOs).
