Just an idea, but wouldn't it be a bit more interesting if the timer only resets if the last payment bursts a bubble?

I refuse to consider agnostic "weak believers". If anything, I consider agnosticism the true non-belief of faith in general. Atheists and theists are both believers in different faiths and sometimes they both can be just as radical. It's easier, and more true, to admit that I just don't know, however that doesn't mean that I agree with any notion of religion or how it's used to manipulate the people.
I usually think of agnostics as "weak non-believers."  Personally, I don't believe in anything until I've seen the evidence; verifiable, quantifiable, reproducible evidence, that is. |

I think 8 hours is too long for the initial timer. If the game started at 5 or 4 hours, it would be much more exciting, IMO.

The value of bitcoins isn't being "injected artificially," it's been agreed upon by a group of individuals who see the benefits to using a decentralized, encrypted, electronic currency. The growing popularity has caused some incredible growth in the exchange rates, but ultimately its worth will be realized in the commerce it facilitates. I, and many others, I'm sure, doubt bitcoins will ever completely eradicate all other forms of currency, but believe instead it will come into its own with those who have become disillusioned with the current global economies.
Personally, I don't feel the need to convince anyone that bitcoins are valuable. I believe it. As a matter of fact, I believe it enough to trade you a pound of coffee for 1.95 BTC. Interested?

I've seen this issue come up in certain threads and was wondering what the overall feeling is concerning Domain Name squatters.
Personally, when thinking of a website or business name, I assume that the best ones will already be taken unless I have some very specialized niche I'm hoping to fill. I consider it a challenge to come up with something catchy, descriptive, short, and unique. Of course, it can be a bit irritating seeing domains sitting idle when I could be putting them to good use.

How hard is it to acquire any currency if you're new to the game?
If I land on the shore of some foreign country, with only the clothes on my back, I'll have to either rely on the kindness of strangers or find something to do in exchange for money. I don't see how Bitcoin is any different.

My point was that I strongly believe that this e-mail was not sent with good intentions. The e-mail referenced this forum because it is a certain source of pro-bitcoin comments that the reader would immediately notice.
Spamming hurts us, sure. What do you suggest people to do? Surpass their bitcoin feeling? I think he's suggesting not spamming. |

He was on #bitcoin-otc yesterday (I was so excited!) He said he took it down because he didn't want to endorse something purely for profit. He is still using bitcoin, though.
I think the main point to take away from this is that he considers his bitcoins "profit." |

I discovered Bitcoins about six weeks ago and curse the fates that had previously obscured them from me every day. It takes me about two hours to drive the bitcoin related thoughts from my head enough so that I can doze off for a couple of hours each night, but they make their way back in and wake me well before my alarm goes off.
My co-workers must think I'm doing drugs because I'm constantly sneaking off to check my email notifications, the current rate of exchange, any bitcoin related news, recent forum posts, etc. I'm fantasizing about new areas of business that I might venture into, as well as growing my current intrerests. Every piece of news I come across makes me think, "How will this affect the bitcoin market?" followed immediately by, "How else can I acquire bitcoins? What hasn't been thought of, yet?"
If I was a psychologist, I'd be tempted to write a paper on this.

One reason I went with the high end coffee was because I wanted to offer a product that the average person would actually appreciate. Let's say you have a relative over and you offer them a cup, they say, "Hey, that's good coffee. Where did you get it?" You say, "It's BitBrew, only available in exchange for bitcoins," and then you introduce them to bitcoins and their value as a digital currency, emphasizing the ease of transaction, lack of intermediary, etc.
