1821  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Death Cross on Weekly for First Time in History on: December 27, 2022, 05:13:28 AM
I don’t think there are enough data points to suggest whether this is a reliable indicator or not. I honestly never look at even the death crosses on the daily because they are completely random. Half the time they work and other half they don’t. So no point in looking at them.

Better indicators are Fibonacci on the daily or basic support and resistance. Moving averages are never a reliable indicator since everybody uses a different input and hence never clear.
1822  Economy / Economics / Re: Save your environmental economic cycle on: December 27, 2022, 05:10:11 AM
The reason why many of those small shops have closed is because people can’t compete with stores like Walmart.
They will basically undercut most stores and people will shop where it’s cheaper.

They do a survey in my area. Would you shop local and support local businesses? Most answered yes. However when asked “would you shop local but pay a little more” and most said no. Hence why businesses like these can’t compete with Walmart.
1823  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Day/Swing Trading - Trainer or Tutor or other suggesting on: December 27, 2022, 05:07:22 AM
You will only run into scammers this way. Nobody who can actually trade for a profit will teach you their skill so you can compete with their profits.

All those tutors are scams. They teach you the basics but it’s actually very difficult to be profitable that way. Most traders just learn their own way if they are dedicated enough.
1824  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Please Suggest Some Free Crypto Trading Signals on: December 27, 2022, 05:05:21 AM
Yeah the issue with signals is that most of the time the person giving them isn’t actually doing any real trading. So they try and make good signals so they get interest but eventually it will blow up and their followers won’t follow them anymore.

It’s no different than those people who have the leadership boards on Binance and Bybit. They basically have a few lucky weeks, don’t use stops and then they go bust.
1825  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hmmm....No way! on: December 27, 2022, 05:02:20 AM
So it’s been a few weeks after and the weekly lows didn’t break yet. I am not saying it was the bottom but if it was and it was this simple then it’s pretty crazy.

If this pattern works out then I can assume that the Next top will be at a similar time. Basically same number of weeks from bottom to top. So if Bitcoin is at like $50K or $80K or $125K make sure you sell this time.
1826  Other / Off-topic / Re: Does anyone still survive? on: December 26, 2022, 04:56:54 AM
Yes a lot of people left the industry. Look how dead bitcointalk has gotten or look at the number of tweets for crypto or all the crypto Reddit’s. Most common places where people would go to talk about crypto are dead.

Same with stocks and all those yolo fomo meme stock option trading. Seems many lost all their money and quit. Usually this signals a bottom. All we need now is a fed pivot for confirmation.
1827  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Funding rate in derivative trading on: December 26, 2022, 04:53:16 AM

I can not because of funding rate go for a particular position. If you make profit in trading, likely the direction taken will not be favoured. Or is that not true?

I have not known if a funding rate would be represented with a positive sign or negative sign where it is counting down, but what I still only think is that long will pay shot when most traders go long which result to perpetual price to be higher than the spot price, while if it is other way and most traders go short, short position traders will pay long position traders.

First things first you need take a look the coin with high funding fee rate, and i see that you are using binance right?

Go to this https://www.binance.com/en/futures/funding-history/0
And then start to pick a coin with high funding rate whether at minus position or plus position usually trader use the funding rate to know the long and short ratio high (+) mean so much trader take a long position high (-) mean so much trader take a short position

After u pick the high funding rate watch the candle and switch lower timeframe 1 minute or 5 minute if funding (+) whale will be take short position and the price will go down for about 30 minutes before countdown, you take short position and then usually you will get profit from your position and after that place stoploss @ the above initial price vice versa

After countdown you will get funding fee @ history tab and the price will continue @ normal stage

This is not always the case, trust me I tried trading it using spot or other exchanges where the funding rate reset is  hourly instead of 8hr.

When funding is very high, like 0.5% you would expect the longs to get out before funding and shorts to get out after funding. However if you ever tried trading this, you would find that sometimes it doesn’t move in that direction anyway. Hence not a profitable method.
1828  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin survived the Christmas market pressure on: December 26, 2022, 04:47:31 AM
I don’t think people were going to sell Bitcoin to buy Christmas gifts. Honestly why does everyone think this every year? It seems everybody expects people to sell all their cryptos and stocks just to buy gifts, it’s not the case.

A more legit idea would be tax loss harvesting where they sell their losing investments to off set their profits for tax time. And tax selling for April due date which is usually in late February and March.
1829  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: DOGECOIN SOLO MINING on: December 26, 2022, 04:44:21 AM
I tried this before with various coins and algos and let me tell you that the variance will kill you and you will give up.

The issue is that say you should find 1 block per day. What happens if you don’t find a block on day 1 or 2 or 3 or 7? Will you still mine?

The variance will eventually make you quit and join a pool. If your hashrate was higher, say 10 blocks a day then i would say try it but with this little hash rate it’s not worth it.
1830  Economy / Economics / Re: Food prices in Germany - Tell me what you want to know on: December 26, 2022, 04:39:37 AM
We have the same issue here in Canada. You can say that compared to 2019 prices your grocery bill has doubled. Or very close. Those inflation numbers aren’t accurate because it works like this.

Say for example

Break went up 10%
Coffee went down 10%

According to that calculation it would mean inflation is 0%. And there are some items that haven’t changed in price like Bananas and that is also keeping inflation figures down. But in reality you are paying double for your food these days.
1831  Economy / Economics / Re: The fight over electric car batteries on: December 26, 2022, 04:32:49 AM
Yes the biggest drawback to electric cars are the batteries. When they go bad it’s very costly to replace. Hence why the value drops when they reach a certain mileage. Even with smaller cars like the Chevy Bolt a battery replacement can be almost 5 figures or so.

This pretty will make many models disposable cars pretty much when they reach a certain mileage because without a proper battery they are worthless. With ice it’s different because you can almost buy an engine from another vehicle at a salvage auction, with batteries it doesn’t work like that.
1832  Economy / Economics / Re: Car repossessions are on the rise in warning sign for the economy on: December 25, 2022, 05:34:13 AM
I am not surprised why they are asking $7000 for that Camry. Seen something similar here with old old Toyota’s at new car Toyota dealers.

Except it was maybe a 1999 Toyota and they wanted like $5K for it. It had decent mileage and all service records,
Might of been a 1 owner even. And it actually sold. Why?

Because $5K or $7k is a lot better than $50K for a car. And since they are reliable you don’t need to worry too much. Some people just needed wheels to get to work. Hence why they sell at those prices.
1833  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Free crypto possible ? Or impossible? on: December 25, 2022, 05:29:17 AM
Back in the day there was lots of ways to get free crypto. Even in 2010 or 2011 you could get an entire Bitcoin from a faucet.

Then came gambling sites which gave you a little bitcoins to gamble with, you could even withdraw your profits without making a deposit even.

Later you could of got many free airdrops which were worth lots of money. Even in 2021 many Defi airdrops were worth almost 5 figures for some.

These days however… those are long gone.
1834  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I’m a Bitcoin OG and very confused how Defi works exactly? on: December 25, 2022, 05:25:44 AM
However say I am using dydx to day trade their future derivatives and I have an active trade and there is some hack on dydx. Will my funds be at stake or not
In order to guarantee self custody of the funds, at any point in time, a user may opt to perform a forced request. Forced requests are initiated by a Layer 1 transaction, to avoid censorship. In case that the request is not served within a limited time frame, the user is able to freeze the StarkEx contract (and thus the exchange) and withdraw directly from the frozen contract. There are two forced actions: forcedWithdrawal and forcedTrade .
Reference: https://dydx.exchange/faq

However, I still recommend not using too much funds for trading on both cexes and dexes. We never know.

Yeah I read that and I don’t know what to think exactly. It seems secure but you never really know. So it’s pretty much almost like trading on a CEX like Binance.

What is more secure in your opinion? A centralized CEX like Binance or the DEX Dydx platform? The platform at anytime can get hacked due to some exploit, chances are of Binance getting hacked very slim.

Seems to be a trade off in both. However those DEX like Uniswap which immediately send you the tokens after your trade, that seems more secure than the perpetual DEX trading platforms.
1835  Economy / Economics / Re: It's Simple to understood now cash is king again on: December 25, 2022, 05:18:41 AM
Well right now you are better off having cash than in the past.

You can put it in a savings account and earn up to 5% interest.
If you buy a car with cash you save up to 10% interest
If you buy a house with cash you save up to 7% interest

Depending on how long we have these high rates, it will add up in the long run.
1836  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I’m a Bitcoin OG and very confused how Defi works exactly? on: December 24, 2022, 05:17:29 AM
Ok so if a dex gets hacked or exploited and I am providing my tokens as liquidity i might get that stolen, so I won’t be providing any tokens to loan.

However say I am using dydx to day trade their future derivatives and I have an active trade and there is some hack on dydx. Will my funds be at stake or not?

When I am in a trade where are the funds which I used to provide collateral to open up the trade? It says it uses L2 Starkware so if there is a hack, can I get my funds back from that L2 back into the L1 ETH network? Very confused about this.

I tried the test net portion but it doesn’t send any funds over, you just sign your Metamask wallet and you can demo trade but doesn’t get any of the eth test net coins moved anywhere.
1837  Economy / Economics / Re: Car repossessions are on the rise in warning sign for the economy on: December 24, 2022, 05:08:28 AM
Been in the market for a vehicle and they aren’t any cheaper. If anything they are at the highest they have ever been, especially in my area. Cars from 2017-2021 used are selling at MSRP. Yes take a car from 2017 with like 50k miles and it’s selling maybe $1k below MSRP when it was new.

Sure the wholesale is lower and repos are up but that is not happening in the retail market. Or even on Craigslist or Facebook marketplace. Everything is overpriced and most are just keeping their current vehicles.
1838  Economy / Speculation / Re: Twitter Poll: Where will Bitcoin end the year? VOTE HERE! on: December 24, 2022, 04:56:20 AM
Most likely it will be the exact same price as it is today. The markets are very illiquid during the holidays. One of the worst weeks to trade is the week between Christmas and New Years. Honestly surprised the markets aren’t closed then.

There won’t be any big moves unless there is some bad or very good news being released, which is unlikely. Most likely no volatility until January pretty much.
1839  Economy / Economics / Re: Employers are Deflating Salaries in Job Ads to keep Pay Down on: December 22, 2022, 10:48:15 PM
One of the reasons why many employees keep salaries a secret is because if someone currently working at the company finds out that they are underpaid they will either quit or tell HR to up their pay and employees don’t want that. They know that most employers will be scared to ask for a raise.

Typically for min wage jobs the salary was always posted, but for more professional careers it’s always kept secret. Some times it depends on the applicant, if he seems more qualified they might pay him more than they would for a less experienced employee.
1840  Economy / Economics / Re: What was the dumbest thing FTX spent money on… on: December 22, 2022, 07:07:09 PM

the goal is this:
find a company that has coins/assets but they separately have fiat debt that out paces the assets. where by they cannot cover the debt

EG $500m good assets. $1bill fiat debt = minus $500m(unrecoverable debt)

a liquidator will take on the business. take out the good assets. leaving the dying brand with even larger debt ($500m unrecoverable->$1b unrecoverable)
also pass on the liquidators own bad debt into the dying company.. to clean out the main companies own obligations

You sure this is allowed?

So basically you are saying someone can buy a company for say $100million, and take the $500million in assets without paying off any of the debt and profit $400 million in return?

This doesn't make sense and no creditors would agree since this company would be better off just liquidating all their good assets and paying the debt back for 50% instead of 0%.

I am confused how this works exactly.
