2821  Economy / Economics / Re: Renewable energy transition is expensive, but is resilient on: March 11, 2022, 03:09:29 AM
If you follow Elon musk on Twitter he actually talked about this briefly. Basically the world needs to increase oil and gas production and needs to do it quick. He is all pro for renewable energy and basically hates oil, but even he sees trouble if a solution is not taken soon.

He also talked about the idle nuclear power plants. Saying he will fly down to one of them and eat dinner with any plants that grows in the reason. Saying people shouldn’t be scared of the radiation and it’s perfectly safe. All these leaders should be listening to him now to be honest before this gets any worse.
2822  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin $40000 resistance on: March 11, 2022, 03:06:05 AM
Lately the markets are very difficult to trade. Especially since the invasion. I think it reached the point where you are better off guessing which way the markets will go.

When the invasion started, crypto and stocks all crashed however it was only the futures. When the NYSE actually opened, it ended up being a very bullish day. And the following day also. And then it started to go down also on no different news.

I think liquidity is drying up and best to wait for the break of support or resistance before we make any more moves.
2823  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How is that laptop mining journey so far? on: March 10, 2022, 03:45:48 AM
There are 2 types of laptops out there. Regular ones and gaming laptops. You can forget about mining with a regular laptop since it usually has a low power GPU and you won’t make any decent profit.

Now on a gaming laptop you might have a high end GPU and also the laptop is thicker to make room for the larger heatsink to dissipate heat. This laptop might survive mining long term since it’s geared towards gaming.

In both situations you really should remove the battery to prevent it from heating up and exploding.
2824  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What coins can we mine with mobile phones ONLY ? on: March 10, 2022, 03:42:43 AM
The reason why there isn’t any actual mobile mining coins out there is because it would be way too easy for someone to cheat and mine with a high end CPU like an i7.

Most mobile development is coded on a PC and all of it is easily emulated on a PC before it’s opened on an actual phone. So this means that if mobile mining was possible. Someone would just mine with their CPU which would be maybe perhaps 50x as fast. Or with their GPU which would be 250x as fast. It wouldn’t be fair and hence why it doesn’t exist.
2825  Economy / Economics / Re: Master card, Paypal, America express suspending services to Russians on: March 10, 2022, 03:38:36 AM
A lot of these companies are doing these sanctions because if they don’t they get very bad press. Look at what happened with McDonalds, CocaCola and Pepsi last week. They were petitions to boycott these companies because they still did business in Russia. So eventually they finally decided to stop operations.

Mcdonalds I think closed all the corporate locations and is still paying the workers even though they are still closed which is nice. However now there are talks that all these companies that leave will become nationalized and reopen. Which seems like a very risky move on their part.
2826  Economy / Economics / Re: Never expect you to be rich without investment on: March 10, 2022, 03:34:17 AM
Investing money doesn’t mean you will become rich or even make any profit. Most people, around 98% of all short term traders actually lose money or don’t make anything. Investing is not easy. Whether you invest $100 or $100000 there is no guarantee you will make a single dollar out of it.

Like the above poster said you don’t need to invest to be Rich. You can have a skill set and use that to make money. Open up one business, make it grow and open up another business and make that grow also. Before you know it you will have a dozen businesses and be rich.
2827  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Server cases vs open air frames on: March 08, 2022, 03:01:09 AM
There are pros and cons for both.

Generally most go for open air because it’s cheap and quiet. However if you got tons of rigs and not enough room you will run out of space.

Server chassis is good because it’s compact and it’s easier to direct air flow in and out. You can’t do that with an open air rig. With open air the heat goes out everywhere. So if the room is hot you will have issues exhausting the air. With a server chassis you can hook up some tubing and direct it outside.

However they are crazy loud and expensive to buy.
2828  Economy / Economics / Re: Markets crypto and stocks all on: March 08, 2022, 02:57:35 AM
I don’t think the fed will print USD and buy USDT and air drop it to crypto people just because they lost money trading.

Sure there are many mid or small cap alts which are suffering but so are many mid to small cap stocks. Look at Peleton, Zoom, Airlines, Square, PayPal, etc. They are down like 75% and these aren’t shitcoins. Every one is hurting these days. This is why when Bitcoin was at $69K and people were like “Should I sell at $100K or at $250K?” Should of been your signal to take partial profits.
2829  Economy / Economics / Re: Your wealth and options during the bad times on: March 08, 2022, 02:53:53 AM
We have been thru this exactly 2 years ago. Stock markets entering bear market territory. People buying guns and withdraw cash from ATMs. People saying stock market will crash and look what happened. Complete opposite.

Who knows what will happen next week. Could reach some agreement and stocks can rally again. In my opinion if you got some savings you can buy many stocks on sale right now. Air line stocks, Facebook, Peleton, luxury clothing companies, everything is a bargain.

2830  Economy / Economics / Re: Bank’s failure on: March 08, 2022, 02:50:57 AM
Yes and this is why I am surprised Bitcoin isn’t going up when all the evidence is present. Banks can and have frozen assets on a whim. So if people hold Bitcoin they are free from this happening.

Look at what is happening in Russia now. There is a bank run and there is a limit on the amount of money you can withdraw. Basically not enough physical money inside a bank to process withdraws.

Bitcoin fixes all of this and the fact that it’s not leading and rising is surprising.
2831  Economy / Speculation / Re: Highest in history on: March 08, 2022, 02:48:30 AM
Have you been following the price of Bitcoin lately. It passed $60K last year and at the end of the year it almost touched $70K. Why? It was mostly due to the fact that an Bitcoin ETF was listed on the US stock market. It was basically a sell the news event.

Right now Bitcoin is in a tough spot. Due to inflation it should go up but due to correlation with stocks it should go down went stocks go down. There is decoupling from time to time. However in the long term it seems to trade as a risk on asset. Which is not good if a recession presents itself. During a war? Who knows.
2832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Exercise some patience for now on: March 07, 2022, 03:32:24 AM
Nobody will stop mining just because it’s Summer trust me. I also had this theory years ago thinking that due to the massive heat people will shut off their rigs or since it’s no longer winter they don’t need it to heat their house.

However the difficulty never went down due to change in seasons. The only time difficulty went down was due to a bad bear market and people had no choice but to shut down their rigs because they were losing money mining, it was much cheaper to buy the coins for most.

2833  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Usdt are safeheaven to avoid volatility and goverment restrictions on: March 07, 2022, 03:28:56 AM
I heard last week on Twitter that some USDT got frozen due to sanctions. No idea if it’s legit but I would not be surprised.

Tether was frozen from time to time, remember that $10Million tether hack a while back? Well they froze it right away.

It’s centralized it’s not like Bitcoin.
2834  Economy / Economics / Re: Can current sanctions Ruble inflation stop Russia? on: March 07, 2022, 03:26:54 AM
It looked like it was stabilizing however when the markets opened it spiked up to 137USDRUB. And if you consider the fact that one month ago it was 75 USDRUB, you are looking at pretty much almost a 50% loss.

Many citizens are suffering because of this and I doubt many of the Russian rich held much of the Rub. Most of them probably are holding assets, gold, USD, yen and perhaps Bitcoin.

Wonder if it will hit 200 USDRUB anytime soon.
2835  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic effects after Russia blocks Facebook, Twitter, etc.! on: March 07, 2022, 03:22:11 AM
Yes they are using VPNs. If you go and look at the most downloaded app by country you will see a big shift from regular apps like Facebook or Twitter to pretty much mostly VPNs.

Wonder how the VPN will handle this. They are a medium however depending what country they are located in, that country might have sanctions and if they do they will most likely have to abide by the rules.

Another issue is how will they pay for the VPN since credit cards are blocked in their country.
2836  Economy / Speculation / Re: If Russia goes full Bitcoin adoption on: March 07, 2022, 03:19:34 AM
I don’t think they will make it legal tender like in El Salvador. There isn’t enough knowledge for the older folks and how to use it. Plus it’s also very volatile and not a good store of value in the short term.

I doubt they will accept Bitcoin for their oil. I don’t see Shell or Mobil sending them Bitcoin in exchange for their oil. Plus they are going to use Unionpay which is Chinese based since visa and MasterCard are blocked there.
2837  Economy / Economics / Re: More destruction of Ukraine territory and economy going on on: March 06, 2022, 03:41:10 AM
It’s been over 10 days or so and it’s still getting bad. We all assumed they would have some peace talks and find so resolution. However Facebook is down, credit cards, auto companies, fedex, etc. The entire country is going to become North Korea pretty much.

Pretty sure no citizen wants that, seems only Putin wants this war. Wonder when this will finally end. Here in North America , gas is getting out of control. Basically rising by a few cents every day and looking at price of crude no relief in sight.
2838  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic effects after Russia blocks Facebook, Twitter, etc.! on: March 06, 2022, 03:38:02 AM
It gets worse. Today a few hours ago. Visa and MasterCard shut down their services in all of Russia. Don’t know how it is there but in North America, everybody pays with credit cards because it’s secure, fast and you get to collect points. So now everybody in Russia won’t be able to pay this way.

Businesses will suffer. And many citizens will suffer also. These sanctions I think are really going to upset the Russian people and they are doing this to they hopefully rebel against Putin and put a stop to this war so everything is reversed.
2839  Economy / Speculation / Re: Need more more to invest on crypto. on: March 06, 2022, 03:33:55 AM
If you are investing with savings it’s fine. Whatever you do don’t do the following.

1) Borrowing money to invest in Bitcoin. People were taking lines of credit to buy Bitcoin late last year and others were maxing out their credit cards. In a bull market it worked out however it will hurt you in sideways or bear markets.

2) Leverage trading. Basically sending your Bitcoin and using it as collateral to trade. Some exchanges give 100x leverage. So basically you can earn up to 100 x more but at the same time can get cleaned out much faster. Be very careful with leverage trading.
2840  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I'm suspecting my 1200w power supply on: March 05, 2022, 03:29:51 AM
Where are you located where it’s cheaper to mine with a generator than with electricity. Given how high the price of fuel is lately I am guessing you must live somewhere in Iran where fuel is like $0.10/L for you.

Either way. Like the above posters have said. Not all generators are rated for this job. Many generators are for construction equipment like power drills which don’t need as clean a signal as a computer. You need to get a different generator.
