2781  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: To all of the die-hard crypto airdrop hunters who can hardly relate…. on: March 22, 2022, 02:36:41 AM
There are hardly any airdrops these days that are worth it. The people who trade Defi about a year or so ago came out with tons and tons of airdrops. I think some airdrops were worth 5 figures even, that’s how crazy it was. These day’s there are none which are ever worth that much.

The trick with the airdrops back then wasn’t to dump it right away. Usually when it hit an exchange it would drop almost instantly. Then trade with a slow grind down and then usually 2-3 days later when everybody was done with the airdrop it would skyrocket. Those were the days…
2782  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Getting more skills in trading on: March 21, 2022, 03:07:20 AM
The only way to learn how to trade is with experience and you cannot teach or learn experience. You need to basically sit around all day and lose money left and right…. Blow an account. Swear at the computer. Deposit more money. Lose it again. Swear at the computer some more. Deposit more money. This time try trading something else like stocks. Make some money. Lose your profits plus your entire balance. Swear at the computer. Deposit more money and keep trying.

You will either get it or you will give up after a certain amount of times because it will just become boring and you won’t want to do it anymore.

You are a small fish in an ocean full of sharks. It’s not easy to survive.
2783  Economy / Economics / Re: Nowdays how to get wealthy secret on: March 21, 2022, 03:02:24 AM
This is the secret pretty much. Remember last week how everybody was saying not to buy stocks because it will break the low from the Russian invasion? People assumed they would get another opportunity to buy many stocks at Covid lows and the complete opposite happened and we had a crazy rally after the fed raised rates.

When stocks fall it’s usually the wealthy that got tons of savings to buy them. The poor are selling to raise capital while the rich are buying them for pennies on the dollar. Hence why it’s easy for the rich to get richer since they got tons of disposable income they can park for 5 years while the poor need to sell to pay rent.
2784  Economy / Speculation / Re: Expect Bullrun this year again! on: March 21, 2022, 02:58:07 AM
This post was from Dec 2021. And I remember everyday seeing posts predicting that Bitcoin will go to $100K or $150K or $250K or $500K or even a million. Basically did it’s job to convince all the retail holders of Bitcoin that selling at $69K was too cheap and it was the top of 2021.

Now everybody would love to sell their Bitcoin in the $60K area. Whether he is right or wrong is hard to say. Too many political and economic reasons that it can go both ways.

If a world war starts …. Will it be bullish?
If inflation doesn’t get under control… will it be bullish?
What if the fed Hikes rates like crazy? Next month hiking 50bps?

There are so many things going on right now it’s hard to say.
2785  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The fate of crypto mining on: March 21, 2022, 02:52:48 AM
In the end of 2013, the ROI of a GPU was 30-40 days... OMG I miss these days...
I remember that my Radeon HD 7850 1GB was making $8/day on Dogecoin while it only cost $200. I really miss those days. Back in the day, you could also mine Ethereum on 2GB video cards. I also remember when I mined BTC in early 2013, but revenue was slashed by half in just one week. The 1st gen ASICs were being released.

At least the upside is that the industry is more mature, so there's less risk, but less risk means less reward.

Yeah I had that GPU. It was slow but you can get it for almost nothing if you monitored the Craigslist listings all day. I think I bought one for like $50.

It was basically a low clock rate Radeon 270x pretty much. I think the regular 270x hashed at 450kh/s while the 7850 hashed at 375-400hs. However you can score them second hand for like $50 compared to paying $150-175 for a new r9 270x.

The king mining GPU back then was the r9 280x (290 was just released and not popular) and those suckers put out something like 700kh/s and burned 350 watts EACH.

I remember having 2 GPUs per PSU and each PSU was using 700watts. Crazy times. Even with all that power consumption they never really ran hot actually.
2786  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stablecoins are not stablecoins by definition. on: March 21, 2022, 02:47:32 AM
The reason why it’s not exactly 1 is because of liquidity issues. You need to understand that if you want to sell your USD for USDT there needs to be some counterparty to give you the trade, so a market maker. These market makers basically barely make anything for exchanging the coins for you so they basically have a skewed liquidity so they can make a small fraction of a percent of every trade.

When they make it for both sides they make a little profit. When you sell your tether or vice versa you are not buying or selling to the exchange but some market maker or another traders. Hence why it’s not pegged to 1. I can be wrong but I am fairly sure this is the real reason.
2787  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best power supply that don't take extra watts from wall on: March 20, 2022, 07:53:46 PM
It doesn’t make financial sense most of the time to get Platinum or Titanium based PSUs for mining. If you really need that extra efficiency you need to get a server PSU. Those are usually very efficient and reliable.

Most of the decent PSUs are the Gold rated PSUs. Sometimes you can score a deal on a Platinum level PSU however those are rare. Server PSUs is the way to go if you got tons of rigs and noise is not a factory. Especially if you got access to 240V power.
2788  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation is trick for average joe but financial people know truth on: March 20, 2022, 07:49:28 PM
Most average working middle class people have no idea what inflation is until they go to the grocery store, buy gas, pay their electric bill and find out how expensive everything has gotten in the past year.

Then they look at CPI and realize that unless they get at least a 10% raise they are going to have much less buying power in the new year. Most people get like 2% raises each year because that is what the typical inflation was last few years however it’s obviously no the case. Hence why people are predicting stagflation and a recession.
2789  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BAPE on: March 20, 2022, 07:45:30 PM
I would be careful of anyone investing in this unless they want to get rugged. This coin was obviously created due to the huge success of APE Coin and they are trying to lure people in.

APE was successful because it had many high end exchanges listing it. Hence why it got so much volume the past few days. Now there are people that missed out and will want to buy these alternative APE coins and might get scammed or rugged in the process.
2790  Economy / Economics / Re: Is there a place in the world you could live like a king via sig campaigns? on: March 20, 2022, 03:02:07 AM
Another thing you need to take into account is your safety. What is the point of cheap food and housing if you live in an extremely dangerous country and if some gang finds out you make $6000 a month they can kidnap you.

There are many safe places in USA and Canada where you can live in a huge house, couple cars, lots of food, etc for $6000 a month. The mortgage would be maybe $2K a month. I am not talking about living in Vancouver or New York but some low population state where houses are reasonable. You will feel safe there and everything.

A 1750-2000 Sq house is more than enough space for 5 people. Privacy might be an issue however.
2791  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ApeCoin announcement What you think? on: March 20, 2022, 02:54:14 AM
This coin if you traded it has been very profitable for the past 2 days. You had lots of opportunities to long it and could of made impressive gains when Bitcoin is trading sideways pretty much.

What value will it hold in the future? Nobody knows. These days since people think we are in a bear market, most rallies will be short. So maybe APE already topped. However if this was a true bull market like last year then I wouldn’t be surprised if it hit $50 a coin. Everything always pumps like crazy in a bull market.
2792  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I am big fan of SHIBA on: March 20, 2022, 02:50:37 AM
Shiba is good for short term trading and that’s all. When it pumps it pumps hard and fast and you can make a lot of money trading it. However most of the pumps always fade and you can make good money shorting it.

This is a meme coin and never a good idea to hold long term. Remember all those coins back in 2018 which were like 99% from ATH. Well Shiba is no different and can also lose 99% of its value. Be careful holding it long term.
2793  Other / Archival / Re: Bitcoin at $1 000 000 by 2030 on: March 19, 2022, 02:45:12 AM
ARK started to perform poorly because during that period many stocks have already peaked. Most think the stock market bear has started in Nov 21 when crypto peaked but it started in the Summer of 2021 pretty much.

The indices kept making new highs only because stocks like Tesla, Apple, Facebook had good gains however many stocks like Peleton, Baba, Uber, etc already peaked and have been hitting constant 52 week lows for the last few months.

The fund is doing poorly as a result of the timing in the markets. They should of gotten out much earlier than they did. They will be back up when the bull market returns however.
2794  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: cpu coin recommendation for daily regular income on: March 19, 2022, 02:39:19 AM
This thread reminds me whenever I have a conversation with my friends who know nothing about crypto. They are like “If I buy a $1000 computer how many bitcoins will I make a day”. I tell them you will get 2-3 GPUs for that much and will make maybe $3-5 per day. They basically think I am lying to them and want to know why it’s only $5 a day when they heard someone mine with their laptop about 10 years ago and made 100 bitcoins a day.

I gotta explain to them that 10 years ago Bitcoin was almost valueless and people did it as a hobby and got lucky. And they said for them to invest $1000 of their money they would need at least $50 a day in profits. Any less and it’s not worth the hassle for them.

Mining is tough these days.
2795  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the purpose of all these altcoins? on: March 19, 2022, 02:34:42 AM
Dogecoin was created as a joke pretty much back in 2014 so people had something else to mine other than Litecoin. However it gained popularity. They even raised money to sponsor some NASCAR and some Bobsled team.

It lost its ways ever since 2021 when Elon musk just couldn’t stop tweeting about it. If it wasn’t for him and the wallstreetbet people along with RobinHood adding Doge trading it would of never hit $.70 during the SNL stint.

But in reality it doesn’t have much use. Like you said it’s nothing but a meme coin.
2796  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum's Vitalik Buterin is the cover of Time Magazine. on: March 19, 2022, 02:30:39 AM
Yes I saw this and originally I assumed it was a fake photo however it seems to be genuine. What he said in the article is what he actually has been saying for years. I remember back in 2017 during that crazy bull run I think he said that he would quit ETH if people’s only main reason is to get rich off them.

This bull run with NFTs and Defi is no different. Most people are about the profits and not what coins like Bitcoin or Ethereum can do for the world in terms of money. Cryptos were created basically to bank the unbanked and many have lost sight of that when they are predicting of ETH going to $10K or BTC going to $100K.

2797  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The new star of the stock market is APE COIN!! on: March 18, 2022, 02:31:00 AM
I think the reason why it pumped so much is mostly due to the name APE. People know that those NFT apes brought in tons of money to anyone who was an early investor so when people saw that it was launched they all went on it like crazy and bought it up.

I’m surprised that during this sideways bear market we get pumps like these with new projects. Usually during a strong bull market this is an everyday occurrence but to see it pumping like this now goes to show that the crypto market is still alive and well.

I didn’t get a chance to buy, missed the run up and if it pulls back it’s too risky buying it.
2798  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to catch new PoW coin release on: March 18, 2022, 02:25:00 AM
Back in 2014-2015 everyday you got maybe 2-3 new coins released, all POW mostly under the Scrypt algo and usually they got listed on the top exchanges by volume within a week.

People would set alerts in the ANN section and as soon as a GitHub link was posted they would start to insta mine it. And it actually paid off when it got listed on the exchange. Way better than mining Litecoin directly.

These days, you can forget that. Most are erc20 token on the Ethereum network and you can’t mine that.
2799  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic crisis its good on: March 18, 2022, 02:18:15 AM
I really wish the real estate bubble would burst but it’s not that simple. People were saying real estate is in a bubble for the last decade pretty much and it’s still going up.

Real estate is different because they build houses slowly now and there is huge demand out there. The crash we got in 2008 would be great for home buyers however I don’t see it crashing that badly. Most likely we get some small 10-20% correction if anything.
2800  Economy / Economics / Re: US warns India over oil deal with Russia on: March 18, 2022, 02:14:45 AM
Basically I agree with the replies above. The oil embargo won’t work unless all countries stop buying their oil because one country will just sell to another while buying Russian oil since they are not sanctioned. Basically it will all balance out.

I think this is the reason why the oil markets have cooled off. People realized that countries will just buy oil from other countries which don’t sanction Russian oil and in the end everything will be balanced as before. So this is why every country needs to sanctions all of Russian products if they want to have any affect on anything.
