You can report a spammy thread at any point, even moments after they've been created if you want. I trash some shit threads on site if they're just really generic or have been asked half a dozen times before. I locked the one in the op. Thread is from last year, no longer relevant, and the op of it hasn't been online in months. It also seems to be trying to promote byteball.
Bitcoin Discussion should have its own dedicated mod patrolling it though so these threads can be trashed on site. Far too much crap getting posted in there.

Making a "Banned" group would increase the work for the administration team.
We used to have it and moved away when we had members in five digits - now we have seven digits. :/

Like on Reddit or Gmail, after creating an account an auto mail will be coming to your inbox as welcoming letter and list of things to do when you made your account and you log-in with it.
IIRC, " hilariousandco" made a similar suggestion (I couldn't find the exact post [to link it as reference]) and I think, it's useful enough (to be implemented). Yes, one is badly needed. Theymos agreed to one being implemented here. I'll contact him again about it soon. |

You've already got your answer: Read this: Most giveaway threads are no longer allowed in the Alternate cryptocurrencies sections. From now on, posting or replying to such threads could result in being banned. Existing threads will be locked.
Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc. You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.
Similar threads are already restricted to Games and Rounds in the non-altcoin sections, but the giveaway-related post volume is so high in the altcoin sections that I've decided to just ban them entirely here.
Is it really that hard to read the stickies? I am surprised you didn't get perma banned. If you were encouraging people to post in the thread then that's why. Contact mprep for further info. |
