That happened ages ago. Smiley

Important message to all day traders using Cryptsy exchange, they have announced the following:

"Minimum order quantities have been removed. Only requirement now is that the order total > 0.00000010.  Min fee for any order is 0.00000001"

This obviously will impact day traders, more than non-day traders, essentially it's a cancellation fee, each time you cancel you lose that amount.

So on one hand you are motivated with the Cryptsy points to do more trades, but then demotivated with a cancellation fee.

I think the action was short sighted in to ways:
1) although the fee is tiny subconsciously it will negatively affect how people trade when they occasionally see that negative number at times, or worse end up with a negative coin balance.
2) the financial and goodwill costs will be higher than the revenue driven in by it, most specifically in the lower number of trades offered, but also in the cost of workers needing to explain negative balances.

1866  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Bitcoin Speculators Club Is Here ... on: March 22, 2014, 08:12:34 AM
I gave up my long this afternoon and shorted at 575.  the rally has had it's chance, and it never came.

this evening the magic number for me is 3400 on huobi. this level broken means any price within reason is exposed, and I would say we will have a good chance of a spike into the 400s.

This level is the shelf formed yesterday after the PBOC announcement. if it can move effortlessly through that point, the market will free-fall.

If bitstamp can break 556 It would have similar meaning but china is calling the shots.

target open but finger on the trigger. I will take profit asap after any large move. the down fall is exponential, so it will end quickly and sharply.  with any high volume I would consider a scalp long.

Thanks for the heads up.

Question: I noticed something about no transactions fees (world's first), is that just for banking or for exchange trading too?
1867  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Bitcoin Speculators Club Is Here ... on: March 22, 2014, 07:44:13 AM
Someone asked me the following question, since I didn't have a clue I present it to you:

Trader had multiple sell orders open:

1)   100 xyx @ 3.459 BTC
2)   100 xyx @ 3.509 BTC
3)   100 xyx @ 3.519 BTC
4)   100 xyx @ 3.590 BTC
5)   100 xyx @ 3.605 BTC
6)   100 xyx @ 3.609 BTC
7)   100 xyx @ 3.659 BTC

Suddenly, 7 trades are done simultaneously for tiny bits (ie: .004528) of each sell order right up the line.   All while the ask and sell price appeared frozen.
This occurred multiple times, once when the ask and sell quantity were high, and other times when the quantities were either low, or high and low.

Questions;

1) What is that called?
2) Who could initiate that: trader manual, trader bot, exchange, or some or all of the above?
3) What is the reason(s) for it?

thanks in advance

1868  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'm a noob looking to throw a couple hundred at a single coin... on: March 22, 2014, 05:36:50 AM
So which coin should it be oh great bitcointalk community?

This week I've played around with some coins, made some money lost some money right now I'm at net -1.03%, which isn't too bad (Maza coin was a bad idea).

I like coins that do something and have a community behind them like vert and doge BUT also like the thrill of coins like max coin (42 coin is a scam).

In order of which has the most potential profit:

1) Doge
2) Name
3) Peer

I would suggest you split your funds three ways between them.

this recommendation expires in an 1 hour, buy in and wait for the profit each will rise from where they are presently in less than 12 hours

enjoy

[everyone is invited to The Speculators Club]

are you joking, DOGE? AS NUMBER#1? what are you 14? doge doesn't yeild ANY POTENTIAL PROFIT, it's currently worth 120-133 sat, it's all time high was 280, before it got dumped by wolong, now doge is a kicked dog waiting to get put down

When I made the recommendation I was very specific, seconds before I posted that recommendation Doge was 118 trending down, seconds after I posted the message many people grabbed a couple crumbs at 120ea, 121, and even 122 all profit. I would have gotten out at about 121.  All three positions performed as recommended.

The OP wanted a profit not a prophet if he took my advice he made that profit and stepped out of the position.

If he took your advice ... uhm, [looking at the thread for your recommendation to the op] ...

So if I say it will rain tomorrow and it doesn't and you have to carry an umbrella all day for no reason but the next day it pours and you don't have your umbrella with you...  I should praise you for you horrible premonition which did no good for anyone?

I'm advocating a number of things:

1) be grateful for the concern someone had to tell you about the rain they felt was coming,
2) be grateful for the specificity expressed in the prediction,
3) use critical thinking to appreciate the imparted intelligence, act on it as you wish
4a) if it doesn't rain, and you are burdened by carrying an umbrella, acknowledge it but know that you were the decider of the intelligence
4b) if it does rain, and you are prepared, acknowledge that the predictor was also right AND you too were right in your action
5) if it rains the next day acknowledge that, ask yourself, the predictor, and the weatherman why it wasn't predicted then use your critical thinking skills again.  You will likely conclude that if no one saw it coming, that is the reason why it wasn't predicted was NOT because they saw it and wanted you to get soaked but simply they didn't see it.

Dude's prediction may not have hit bull's eye but it certainly hit the target.

In golf they get you a standing O for a shot like that, from so far away.

1871  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prepare for March 16 Dip on: March 21, 2014, 08:11:38 PM

So just to summarise, even when someone is wrong, we should thank them for not being wronger. Especially if we can see the market movement that he didn't predict by simply looking at Bitstamp's front page as it happens?
This was entertaining but now it's boring.

Whatever YOU saw on bitstamps front page apparently wasn't enough for you to 'warn' the community well before hand with great specificity.

Whatever you may have thought was obvious, clearly wasn't obvious enough because the OP was ripped from day one to present, as if there would be no downward movement.

My grammar sucks, so I sincerely appreciate it when someone offers correction, because it enables me to be a better me.  If I cursed everyone that tried to help me it would serve me no good purpose in the long run.  But there are many people that don't want to be corrected, that take offense at correction, and seek vengeance for pointing out the error of their ways, when all the corrector was trying to do was to make them better at what they are clearly trying to do.

As for thanks, you can be thankful for earnest effort before and/or after results, regardless of the results; how much does it hurt anyone to be thankful for positive efforts paid your way?

1872  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prepare for March 16 Dip on: March 21, 2014, 07:44:30 PM
Well... now it's down pretty far.

Yes, though I think it's important we don't give Cosmo any credit for this. Smiley
I'm wondering whether we're finally on our way to capitulation after a period of tedious stagnation, interrupted by a naughty whale throwing his cash at the market.

hahahahaaaa so many are quick to ridicule and slow to praise.

Would it hurt you to thank Cosmo for the heads-up?
Would it hurt you to acknowledge that his friend felt something and tried to warn those of us who cared to pay attention?

Regardless of the reason for the dip, you were put on notice, and thereby warned.

If you see no storm clouds, someone with arthritis tells you I think it's going to rain, you could dismiss him as crazy but he's just telling you what he feels.
If the storm clouds don't make it, get delayed, or move in another direction thereby providing fodder for the disbeliever, it doesn't negate the fact that it was coming.

People easily say hindsight is 20/20 but the truth is, even those viewing history see it, interpret it, and appreciate it in different ways.

Bad enough there are not many WILLING to make predictions, but when someone extends themselves to do it, they get ripped before, during, and after the event regardless of how it turns out.  How do you expect anyone to get better at something if you discourage them from practicing?

1873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I Struck GOLD! on: March 21, 2014, 07:27:58 PM
Was introduced to BTC by way of GLD, so after seeing it take one of the most nasty nose dives on CC history I decided to stop it with some serious infusion, I saw it as a learning tax (didn't think I would see any profit from it). to my surprise it just turned a profit -- I struck gold with GLD -- hot dog.

Congratulations on your Goldcoin discovery! A coin with good vibes and golden devs! Smiley

Love the new upturn, goes to show that even though it is tied to BTC is can still perform independent of BTC.
1874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptsy, Would You Please Fix Auroracoin on: March 21, 2014, 08:18:20 AM
I am still waiting.

you know dodge is the king of volatility, when I get more training get more into the dodge

Question: is there a place in the USA where one could by dodge for fiat, like a Coinbase for dodge?

yes CoinMKT.com

I remember seeing that logo before,  but when I looked it wasn't in my favorites (it is now).  Thanks for the info.

I like the 80% of the rates.  I'll check them out soon.  Thanks again.

[edit]

ohhhhh, now I remember (did a search found rating http://bittrust.org/coinmktcom), they had a totally different site, with a totally different feel.  I liked what they had to say back then but heard nothing about them and I didn't feel comfortable at the time, and I'm pretty sure they were only doing btc, yessss, I remember they had much higher btc rates than their competitors in similar space so for those two primary reason (the feel and the price) I didn't save it.

sorry to see that they got just above avg on their rating, but I will reach out to them.

thanks a third time
1875  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXTea Anyone? Catch It Before The Rally Ends ... on: March 21, 2014, 05:04:59 AM
Shit, looks like people started to figure out that there was only one actual alternative to Bitcoin. (was bound to happen eventually).

Turns out everything else is just a BS copy/paste job. Seriously though, it's probably going to tank (waits with fiat Smiley ) So stop buying it!

It's not really a rally, it's just the only other name in the game.

How much does the quality of the coin mean in the grand scheme of things?   I'm in the cryptocurrency game to make money.  I only considered "alt" CCs (including LTC) because my BTC was not only under performing but actually losing value. So I traded the BTC for LTC, then when that profit boat was about to ship off, I disembarked for a more robust CC that has since provided a rather nice ride.   The eye opening experience has enabled me to look at all of the CCs as income opportunities.

Had I saw NXT before LTC  I might have gotten more bang for my bucks, no biggies, I missed the NXT train this time, I'll be looking for it the next time around.

enjoy

ooooops, so it's over, if you got some of that Green NXTea

share the joy of making cryptocash in midst of crashing giants.

did you move from BTC to LTC to NXT?

I really hate opportunistic spammers.

the cryptocurrency universe is very very tiny,  we need as many players in the space as possible, if for whatever reason space seems crowded, we simply enlarge the space

there really is enough money, attention, work, and fun in the CC world for everyone (spammers, and spam haters too  Grin)

sure:  http://www.dodge.com/en/find-dealer/

You don' t even need to trade in a Fiat; they'll take toyota, chrysler, etc.  they can also provide reasonable financing.

hahahahahahaaha, I definitely asked for that -- must be all of the commercials.

thanks  Smiley
