1861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia's Central Bank proposes ban on Cryptocurrency trading and mining on: January 21, 2022, 07:04:18 AM
It isn't the first time Russia is planning to ban cryptocurrency and mining. Even earlier they have created some rules where crypto miners were barred from receiving their mining rewards in cryptos. I don't know how that worked but since now the Central bank is proposing a blanket ban, I assume the previous ruling didn't work on government's favor. That's quite unfortunate! But again these kind of things are expected in a communist country. Communism wouldn't flourish unless there are poor people in their country those who will believe that communists are fighting for their rights! So that's how communism works where individuals don't have power to go against the government. Prime examples - China and North Korea.

Probably that's why we are seeing a bloodbath in the crypto market today!
1862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: QuickHeal antivirus does not allow installation of MinerGate GUI Miner on: January 21, 2022, 04:03:48 AM
Hello,

Has anybody used MinerGate mining software (especially the MinerGate xFast GUI Miner v1.7)? I tried to download the miner, but my QuickHeal antivirus keeps deleting the downloaded setup file. I was able to download and use the software last year even with the QuickHeal antivirus operating, but currently unable to find that old setup file (there is a chance that QuickHeal has deleted it, just the way it is deleting the current setup files).

Is anybody facing such a problem? If yes, is it a problem with the software? Is it inadvisable to use that mining software due to scamming concerns? Or, on the other hand, what is the solution to overcome the problem and get the software running?

I am trying to download and install the software from the following link:
https://minergate.com/downloads

Also, the MinerGate xFast Console miner setup zip file was downloaded and not deleted by QuickHeal. However, the antivirus deletes the executable file once I unzip the setup files.

Not just quickheal, any antivirus wouldn't allow you to install any miner application in your system. It is considered as a threat to the system by default. Same case with Nicehash miner as well.

You need to add them as an exception once you install it. But before installing you need to disable the antivirus and then add an exception. See the video below,

Hope this helps!
1863  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Curbing Blockchain evolution? on: January 20, 2022, 06:34:36 PM
Further as more and more people are interested and using blockchain technology so what is the meaning of banning bitcoin/crypto? Can anyone ban bitcoin in reality or its a part of fud which is created repeatedly every 2/3 months to keep out weak hands and took advantage?

Banning bitcoin is an entirely different matter than banning blockchain. Let's not mix that up! There are many countries who are planning to leverage blockchain technology but also planning to ban crypto. Example is India.

But in reality, it is extremely difficult to enforce a crypto ban unless someone had purchased that crypto from centralized exchanges. So bringing a rule of banning and actually banning crypto are two different matters of different complexity. Those who understand that fact, will not be afraid of a crypto ban!
1864  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: i have 400$, i cannot buy a good miner, is cloud mining a good idea in this case on: January 20, 2022, 05:10:56 PM
Majority of the cloud minings are an evolved form of ponzi. So no, I wouldn't recommend any cloud mining platform except Nicehash. But again do a thorough research before you actually invest your money into their system andnknow about the risks of doing so. Also with 400 ISD initial investment, you won't be able to buy so much power that will give you a guarantee to find a block. So please refrain from such investments. It's a personal recommendation.
1865  Local / India / Re: Crypto regulation bill may again get postponed. on: January 20, 2022, 02:16:41 PM
Oh this news sounded like the the most melodious music of my life. It's a great news that government is planning to hold more discussions before leaping into a conclusion. It will give Indian crypto exchanges a very important breather to onboard more customers to make the community stronger.

Also as I am not expecting anything positive from this regressive government with useless finance minister, it's always great news when government postpones such important things!
1866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Investment against inflation on: January 20, 2022, 06:02:53 AM
A London restaurant owner has revealed his story of Bitcoin investment that saved his business from the economic impact out of the pandemic. Restaurant named Tahini has moved its balance sheet to bitcoin once after the decline in the sales. It has got only three branches around. Hamam, the owner mentioned the restaurant's bitcoin investment have spiked to 300% and has served as a hedge against the inflation. The restaurant doesn't accept cryptocurrency, but it continues to invest the fiat on bitcoin. At the time of investment the price of bitcoin was found to be $12000. Now the business have been extended with four more branches in Ontario Canada. Planning for another 20-25 branches within 2022.

Now to encourage cryptocurrency investment he have installed bitcoin ATM on all his restaurant branches.

Data : Bitcoin investment saves London restaurant chain from collapse

Can we really call it a hedge against inflation? I don't think so! It is a hedge against uncertain times. Every business has their investments. What unique here is that they have invested in bitcoin which has given them an unexpected return which saved them from going bankrupt when pandemic hit.

It is good that such stories are coming to light. I am sure we have millions of such stories available all over the world where bitcoin has done great to someone's life. That's the beauty of bitcoin and decentralized technology.
1867  Local / India / Re: Is paytm ok with crypto? I get coindcx vouchers for paid bills on: January 19, 2022, 11:36:36 AM
What title says..

So it means you have received a CoinDcx voucher FROM Paytm for using Paytm to pay your bills! If yes, it's all fine! But remember, you will have to do full KYC before you can redeem the voucher. So if you are ready to do full Kyc, then go ahead!

I use CRED for my credit card bill payments and I had earlier received a voucher worth 200 rupees for Coinswitch. I have never used it because I never wanted to do KYC for such miniscule amount of bitcoin. These are just promotional techniques so you should not face any issue. But again, a full KYC will be needed before you can redeem such vouchers. So think about it before you actually redeem this voucher.
1868  Economy / Economics / Re: Microsoft to acquire Activision for $69B is all about Metaverse on: January 19, 2022, 11:27:38 AM

There is an impression in the Linux community where everything that Microsoft touch dies like Yahoo and Skype. Will Activision die too?
Lol! Linux community is furious about Microsoft because Linux community believes in Open source system which Microsoft doesn't. But you must not forget that Microsoft is the dominant player in commercial software and OS business. 90% of the offices still use Microsoft products. So when it comes to business, Microsoft is the King.

Quote
But with this Activision + Metaverse, I think this is going to be a good decision for them to develop. Activision has lots of games where gamers are actively playing and the Metaverse which we can consider to be the future. This might just be one of Microsoft's best investments and projects to develop and get successful with. Unless they become very aggressive again and deploy KYC in games. You think?

While all major tech companies are looking into metaverse and making themselves ready for web 3.0, Microsoft just don't want to stay behind. because if that is going to be the trend for the internet in future, Microsoft will eat their share out of it. Activision is a well know gaming studio and I don't think we have anyone in this forum who have never played "Call of Duty". It's interesting to see how the metaverse unfolds really. It can be very exciting or it can be miserable. So let's wait and watch! It's too early to comment on metaverse!
1869  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: New York sports betting going live this week. on: January 19, 2022, 06:38:46 AM

New york has decriminalized prostitution and gambling in an attempt to entice residents to remain in state.

Rather than moving to florida or texas as has become increasingly common of late.

Very interesting observation! Even though I didn't have the good fortune to see New York till now, but what I know that new York is the world's costliest city in terms of living cost and real estate. Just to put it in a perspective,

One hundred thousand US dollars can get you a 3 bed apartment in New York. But the same amount of money, can get you a mansion or even acres of land parcel in Florida. With so much price disparity within a single country, it's no wonder that people are moving our of New York. Also with the emergence of Work From Home culture across the world, it just makes sense!

So the Mayor of NY is probably thinking of some childish ways like decriminalize prostitution or allowing sports betting as a retainer bonus for their citizens! It's hilarious, indeed! Good for gamblers in NY!
1870  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: All Bitcoins are mined in 2140? on: January 19, 2022, 05:10:52 AM

And you, what do you think? Will the crypto market disappear or collapse when all the Bitcoins are mined?  Smiley

No way! Bitcoin is still the most dominant cryptocurrency in the market. But when all bitcoins are mined, the crypto market is not going to die. There are several cryptocurrencies available in the market with different use cases and huge popularity. In the course of time, several more cryptocurrencies will become popular and survive the test of time. So crypto market is not going to die for sure!

But what I foresee that the transaction volume is going to decrease once all bitcoins are mined. The miners who have invested huge amount of money into bitcoin mining rigs, will have to survive on transaction fees which will push the fees to the highest level. So bitcoin will remain as an investment only rather than a currency. But it will remain as the dominant player in the market. While other cryptos like BNB, ETH etc. Will be used for transactions.
1871  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bustabit | Crash Game | Always Winning Script Best Price! on: January 18, 2022, 02:44:10 PM
Spoiler alart:

If someone claims to have found a secret source of wealth. They usually would like to keep the secret really secret so that he can benefited from it.

So when you see such secrets are open for sell in the market, that means the secret isn't working for him or the secret doesn't exist at all!

Beware of such scripts and offers!
1872  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin User Loses Record $1.1M on: January 18, 2022, 01:23:36 PM
The crypto market is infested with scammers. But there is one prominent common reason for every victim to such scams - Greed! It is either get double or unrealistic return or it could be anything that promises to make you richer. Unless someone is unable to control their greed, there's no way out!

I am surprised to see that a millionaire is stupid enough to fall for such scam attempts! They are usually those people with higher iq. But that wasn't the case here, clearly!
1873  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin payments decline as other cryptocurrencies grow on: January 18, 2022, 10:43:52 AM
Btc and eth are not good for everyday transactions because you will only end up paying more on transaction fees, am not too surprised with the report, people use stablecoins from networks with less fees like bsc, Tron to pay transactions,
Even though the third party also collects fees these networks are not designed to be cheap, it will be hard for small-income people to use these coins so definitely there will be a shift.

I second your statement here! Bitcoin and ETH are costly to use as a regular currency unless we are using LN or WETH. In the market, we have much better currency for regular transactions. So I am not surprised to see the number of transactions are declining in the bitcoin network.

But does it affect the reputation of bitcoin? I don't think so! Bitcoin is still the most preferred investment choice amongst the crypto community. That's what bitcoin is great for!
1874  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will there be Metaverse regulations on Gambling on: January 17, 2022, 05:41:00 PM
To begin with, metaverse is more of a concept now! Some companies have definitely started developing digital world or digital assets to become a part of metaverse, but we don't know which direction it is indeed going to take!

This entire thing has started taking shape but it is still at a very nascent stage. So it is difficult to say if there will be regulation on gambling or not. But I understand that the companies who control their own metaverse, will have to bring in some sort of regulation as per their location from where they are operating from, if at all they want to get into gambling on metaverse.
1875  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Offline bitcoin vending machine using lightning on: January 17, 2022, 02:59:19 PM
I love the sticker on the top left corner which says - no shitcoin inside! I hope people understand the meaning of it becaus ethe crypto population is madly running behind meme coins it seems.

That could very well be the future of vending machines business. It's just a matter of adding the PIN to the vending machine from your LN wallet before you can get the product released for you. Speed matters!
1876  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto NFTs, what are your thoughts. on: January 17, 2022, 07:05:59 AM

-What type of Art NFT do you think are best, ( Maybe those monkey ones? )

None! That's my short and simple answer to this new digital hype. Head towards the website called Opensea which is by far the biggest NFT marketplace and explore their collections. You will see some really great piece of art, but you will also see meme avatars are selling for millions of dollars. Definitely art is subjective but unless and until you have a big name to backup the collection, it's extremely difficult to sell your art.

Quote
-Do you create NFTs in form of art, if yes then please share the links.

Nope! I don't believe in this NFT thing and selling digital assets. So I didn't try! However, I am a frequent visitor of Opensea to understand the trend of the market.

1877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Walmart trademark filings could indicate entry into crypto and NFT markets on: January 17, 2022, 06:18:12 AM

The great thing about this is it could trigger a domino effect in large retailers who will follow in walmarts footsteps to remain competitive in global markets.

And what would Walmart sell on metaverse?? A digital packet of breakfast cereal? A digital packet of milk? How on earth, entering into metaverse will keep them competitive in global markets? Any thoughts?

Quote
Crypto and NFT adoption being relatively trivial and unexpensive to implement. Is there a legitimate motive for any large business not to get in on what could be the next big thing?

Motive for businesses not to get into metaverse? - because it doesn't make sense!

Quote
Amazon has definitely lost ground recently due to supply chain and shipping issues degrading its reliability and quality of service. Perhaps this move to crypto/NFTs can provide walmart with an advantage it needs to dethrone amazon and takeover?

Amazon is focusing into real business. Investing heavily on logistics, warehouse and manpower. That's what a real business needs to survive and thrive in this competitive world. They are not showing their interest into illusionary and imaginary world that doesn't exist!
1878  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why so negativity for NFT? on: January 16, 2022, 10:06:39 AM
I have been seeing this extraordinary hate for nft, i find it really irritating, i can understand some criticism but the way they make it look like it is a sin. I mean first of all art is subjective, the points they use to criticize can be easily applied to modern art. For me most of modern art is crap but it has value because people believe in its value simple as that. Even currency is just a paper but it has value because people believe in its value. This is somewhat same hate bitcoin gets even to this day. And i know the same people who are criticizing NFT will be first in line to get NFT once it become more common and once they see profit.

NFT is just hype and a playground for money laundering. That's why you are seeing hatred towards it. Buying and selling JPGs can't become tech future. It is just that some celebrities have entered into this NFT stuff and they are constantly hyping the market for their own benefit.

In NFT market, art doesn't have a value! Rather the artist is being valued more than the art. Otherwise I have seen tons of great arts in opensea marketplace, but people are buying meme avatars because some celebrity has created that! Is this the way art should be valued?

NFT is a non sense concept and is bound to be doomed! Sooner or later!
1879  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Backer really important for a new project? on: January 16, 2022, 07:40:46 AM
I am developing my project. My relationships always say that backers are important. But I have seen many backers that bring no value to the project. Fb posts only bring 50-100 likes. What I'm interested in is:
- If there are no good backers, should I choose any backers?
- I raised $300k from angel investors. The project's available capital is $100k. So what should I do?
- What if the project has no backer, but I have the capital. Will users rate it as a bad project?

Thanks!  Kiss

Are you talking about backers or influencers? If you already have seed capital to fund your business, you won't need backers. But to bring hype to your project, you will need influencers. Unfortunately, people will start realizing the good potential of your business later but first they will listen to the influencer. So it is very important for a business, especially in crypto market because of the tight competition.

Good projects will find its ways into the market eventually. But it is a time consuming process. Influencers can make this process faster. So if you really believe that your project is unique and will make an impact on the market, go ahead with influencer marketing as you have already raised a good amount of money from Angel investors.

1880  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Don't panicked if bitcoin illegal in your country. on: January 14, 2022, 04:34:05 PM
Some countries don't allow to transect bitcoin or any other crypto currency. This is totally illegal by law in those countries. After invention of bitcoin, A great revolution happened in digital currency. world day by day going to depend on crypto currency for the demand of free currency. If any government of the country ban crypto currency, Still you can transect bitcoin or any other crypto currencies. No one can understand. In this modern world 'Ban' is a valueless word. We are not committing in crime. We just make easy to transect our money.

But it will still be a felony! Definitely it's very difficult for a regulatory agency to find out who is using cryptocurrency unless you commit a very serious crime but it will still be illegal. Also if you transact small amounts in cryptocurrency, the no regulatory agency will spend their money and effort to catch you.

So it all depends on what side of the law you want to stand. But yes, whatever countries are banning bitcoin now, will regret their decision few years down the line and loose the opportunities and employment it could have generated.
