18901  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: One thing that makes me excited right now... on: December 19, 2013, 05:13:58 PM

What well known companies are planning on accepting them? I think it'll only take one big company to start using them and the value will skyrocket again.

Just keep browsing the press section, theres at least 1 biggish outfit announced per week that accepts them...
Keep in mind, some arent in the states..

Also, the numbers of places on coinmap.org grows , almost at 2000 worldwide, granted these arent big companies ... but still, it shows adoption =)

Depends what you define as biggish. I wouldn’t say many big companies are dealing with it at the moment, but 2014 is going to be an exciting year for sure. I think it'll slowly gain traction and once bigger businesses start dealing with it it'll have a knock-on-effect, but these market crashes aren't good for mainstream adoption.

I still want an avatar Sad. I wonder how long it is gonna be until we get an avatar thread?
18903  Other / Meta / Re: must wait 360 seconds.... for what? on: December 19, 2013, 05:04:53 PM
I try PM'ing someone and I get a message that my IP needs to wait 360 seconds before posting yet I didn't send a single PM message today, let alone in the last month.

Nice life.

Log-ins and posted / attempted posted messages count too.
And searches?

Yep, missed that one. I'm sure there's one or two other things that count as well Smiley.
18904  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how old is dogecoin? on: December 19, 2013, 05:00:55 PM
Does anyone know what really sets this coin apart from the rest? I haven't read/heard anything particularly interesting about it yet. Any help would be appreciated Smiley

Nothing does, it's just a joke based on a meme so that's where it gets its popularity from.
18905  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China's central bank hit in net attack on: December 19, 2013, 04:44:30 PM
Don't mess with Bitcoin!  Grin

Ooh yeah, a ddos attack on a website, they really showed China. This just looks bad on Bitcoin tbh.
18906  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: One thing that makes me excited right now... on: December 19, 2013, 04:31:58 PM
I thought you were going to say Christmas. Grin

I posted this in another thread but: I made my first non-BTC related purchase with BTC yesterday (putlocker.com file hosting). So incredibly easy, fast, free. Really impressed. Now, granted it could turn out to have been an expensive purchase (if BTC rockets), but I think more spending is needed if retailers are going to start accepting BTC. So yeah, that experience got me excited.

Putlocker accepts BTC? That's my favourite hosting site. Although, I can't see why I would need an account as it's unlimited downloads and one of the fastest hosts out there even as a free user.
18907  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: without china will there ever be +200-250 gains? on: December 19, 2013, 04:29:41 PM
While it would be nice, I really don't think India would be a huge player on the same scale as China, not in the near future anyway. Yes there are a minority there with big money to invest but the majority are dirt poor. Although, I do think big gains will still come next year and ahead of that, from wall st and further adoption in the western world.

Doesn’t have to be India, it could be any country. And in developing countries it's sometimes hard or to get access to a bank, so things like Bitcoin could be a big hit with poor or impoverished people / communities
18908  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does the bible say about Bitcoin? on: December 19, 2013, 04:10:18 PM
If Judas were alive today he would gladly exchange those thirty shekels for bitcoins.

There's already been a Bitcoin Judas bag to put them in:

Yeah, I'm holding my coins for a while until they gain more mainstream acceptance and more merchants start accepting them, so I don't sweat the bubbles/crashes. It's still early days for Bitcoin.

What well known companies are planning on accepting them? I think it'll only take one big company to start using them and the value will skyrocket again.
18910  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello. Johnny-Come-Lately here... hehe on: December 19, 2013, 03:45:30 PM
the list always goes like this :

1) crypto
2) gf/ wife

 Grin

Well, it should, and men probably tell themselves this, but those tables soon turn when their gf/wife cockblocks 'em  Cheesy.
18911  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin value on: December 19, 2013, 03:43:06 PM
I think it will keep going down, then back up, then down again and finally back up again.

This will probably happen for ever as long as idiots keep panic selling.
18912  Other / Off-topic / Re: If bitcoin had a smell,how would it smell like? on: December 19, 2013, 03:41:38 PM
Burnt pubes and stale piss.
18913  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: without china will there ever be +200-250 gains? on: December 19, 2013, 03:29:49 PM
without china do you think bitcoin will ever raise to the +200-250 area again?

China isn't the world. What if India gets on board, or if Amazon or some other big company starts accepting them? The price will recover with or without China, and China is still buying most of the coins, it was just down to idiots panic selling.

I don't know how I'm on Trusted Feedback
You're not. Unless one of those is your alt and you forgot what account you're on.

Haha, nope. I'm there under Trusted feedback. I'm there along with three others: Boelens, hilariousandco, Tomatocage, malevolent.
IIRC, you autotrust yourself -.-

Must be this. Hilariousandco isn't shown on Stunna's page for me under Trusted feedback, but my name is there.

Ah. I see you're on the Untrusted feedback on mine, so I take it I'm on there on your page?

I'd like to confirm that I have received a payment. OP is legit!

How much did you get? And was it in crypto or PP?

$5 in BTC for my first 10 constructive posts.

Thanks.

Hostmaster, I'm interested if you're still looking for peeps. I'm happy to post constructive messages or promote elsewhere as long as it's not spam.
18917  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is now the best time for new people to invest? on: December 19, 2013, 02:41:48 PM
I think it falls under this, but I will put The Intelligent Investor on my reading list.

I agree it will depend on your definition, but then again doesn't anything? Smiley

I'll guarantee you're going to be glad you put that on your reading list. It's the book that formed me as an investor.

What is your definition of 'guarantee'? Grin I've just downloaded it.
18918  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New Market on: December 19, 2013, 02:37:22 PM
Mostly illegal goods, like Silkroad

This isn't clearweb address.

What are you a marketplace for exactly? It doesn't say anywhere.

I know. It doesn’t say what you sell on your site or on the forums.

Ah. What are the restrictions? Drugs, weapons, porn etc.

Like the signature BTW Cheesy. Did you see some redtext has now been added to profiles?
18920  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is now the best time for new people to invest? on: December 19, 2013, 02:27:49 PM
I would not call buying BTC as an investment. It is rather speculating.

For an investment the volatility is terrible. For speculating it is a huge opportunity even withing one day. Smiley

You can speculate as an investment. The terms aren’t mutually exclusive.

No you can't and yes they are.

How can you not speculate as an investment?

By definition. I recommend you read "The intelligent investor" by Benjamin Graham.

Depends on your definition.
Quote
In finance, investment is putting money into an asset with the expectation of capital appreciation, dividends, and/or interest earnings. This may or may not be backed by research and analysis. Most or all forms of investment involve some form of risk, such as investment in equities, property, and even fixed interest securities which are subject, among other things, to inflation risk.

I think it falls under this, but I will put The Intelligent Investor on my reading list.
