1921  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Restore a hive wallet on: May 26, 2016, 10:38:14 AM
A friend had a hive wallet, on my recommendation.  Now hivewallet.org is closed and he's lost the app, how can I restore if I have the 12 words?

I tried using counter wallet or and old copy of brainwallet.org but doesnt match.

I believe the source is on github.

Yes, looks like the source is here:
https://github.com/hivewallet/hivewallet.com
https://github.com/hivewallet

He may be able to reuse the seed words on a different wallet too, such as Electrum.

1924  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Sending fees on: May 23, 2016, 12:40:08 AM
...
I paid the fees according to what the wallet advised me, Ive done this hundreds of times.

why all of a sudden is this happening ??

help would be much appreciated as I don't want this to happen again ??

You may already be doing this, but you want to make sure that Bitcoin Core is running for a little while so that it can estimate the fees correctly.  E.g., don't just start it and send.

1926  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Block.io Safe or not? on: May 20, 2016, 04:45:54 PM
This might be asked better in a different section, but while it could be safe, experience has shown that online wallets and exchanges are often not safe.

I wouldn't trust any online wallet right now unless it was for a very small amount.  Using an online wallet is just asking for problems.

When i open Electrum and press strg+o there nare 4 Files. I saved it 3 times for testing. But all Only watching only.

What can i do now ? thats 140 Euro that i lose ! I need help !

I try now open Bitcoin Core and try to import Wallet  to it. But is this good ?

Please give me Instruction

Did you export the private keys from Bitcoin core (as suggested above) and then import those keys into electrum? Or did you create an electrum wallet and then send the coins to an address there?

If you didn't move the coins, then you have the private keys and don't need the seed words.

If you can calm down and be specific and clear about what you have done and are doing it will be easier for people to help.
1929  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Big Problem-please help soon ! on: May 19, 2016, 10:26:06 PM
Help please !

Now i have the Problem , that i forgot the Seed Phrase of my Wallet and every Time i open Electrum, there is written , it is a watching wallet only.

Thats mean , i can not send my Bitcoins-watching only ! !  ! !
Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad

Who can help me and teach me how i can revocer my Wallet
Please so soon as possible !

1. You should be able to restore the wallet from one of your backups.
2. Did you write down the seed or back it up somewhere?

1930  Economy / Economics / Re: My bank account's got robbed by European Commission. Over 700k is lost. on: May 18, 2016, 10:36:44 PM
I am interested to know about the original poster and what happened for their money?

Iirc, he lost most of the money he had in there which was for his payroll and other monthly business expenses. I believe he closed up his business in the EU, and moved somewhere in the Caribbean to avoid the authoritarians in the EU.

Venezuela, Greece, a couple of South American countries and some others are prime examples of where having some Bitcoin, gold, silver etc would've been advantageous. But for a business that has to operate in the fiat economy, gold and silver aren't as practical.
1931  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What makes an unconfirmed tx 'suspicious'? (likely to be replaced or never confi on: May 18, 2016, 04:19:09 PM
Zero fees would now have your transaction rejected, not just stuck.

That is inaccurate.  It *could* have it rejected, but it would depend on the priority.

See e.g.
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/master/src/policy/fees.cpp

I said now for a reason...  Tongue

And it still is not accurate.  I can send a high priority transaction with no fees now and have it confirm pretty quickly.

Ah, I see what you're saying now. Yeah, that's a possible scenario. Although it's mostly depended on inputs other than anything else.

Agreed.  ;-)

Low priority transactions at the current time are often problematic.

And to follow up on what Danny said, if you are selling something that is expensive waiting for a few confirms is probably a good move.

1934  Economy / Economics / Re: My bank account's got robbed by European Commission. Over 700k is lost. on: May 17, 2016, 05:05:50 PM
This thread was on 2013 so I didn't have seen the update did he actually recover his money or something.
Because that is just a lot of money that you have lost. At least you should have got 500K back.
So anybody any update about this thread?

He didn't get it back.  Cyprus gave a "haircut" (stole) to a lot of people's money.

I believe he moved his business to somewhere in the Caribbean.

Now that there is the Panama papers leak, traditional offshore countries in the Caribbean will be losing business, possibly to the cryptocoins.

Definitely possible.  For the smart people, they should diversify into some crypto etc.
1935  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: HELP! Did I loose $2000 in my offilne wallet?? [Multibit] on: May 17, 2016, 01:25:34 PM
I'm really panicing right now.
I had over 2000$ in my offline wallet (Multibit) on my PC and it won't turn on. What should I do??

You didn't answer below, but what kind of PC is this? Some generic Windows machine? Mac? What OS?  What exactly does it do when you try to turn it on? Absolutely nothing? Beep? Fans?

If you are running a Mac, you can use target disk mode

The odds are (as others have said) that you can recover it.
1936  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: What does "Unable to decode output address" mean? on: May 17, 2016, 02:36:33 AM
When I looked up an address on blockchain.info, I found a transaction with the message "Unable to decode output address " standing above the receiving address. What does this mean?  Roll Eyes

Bitcoin Core To Remove Patented AsicBoost Advantage Soon

An interesting statement was posted on Twitter by Olivier Janssens, as he explained an upcoming change in the Bitcoin Core client software. A patented optimization for ASIC mining – called AsicBoost – will be made obsolete in the next client update. That news did not go over well with a lot of members for sure...

There is a lot of FUD here.  If you read the dev list, you will see the discussions concerning it there.
1938  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Unconfirmed Transaction on: May 14, 2016, 11:21:00 PM
You'll have to ask Bittrex support for help. And maybe move it into their support thread here if they have one.
1939  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Can someone help me please on: May 14, 2016, 02:48:55 AM
The transaction you listed completed:

https://blockchain.info/tx/730fd112c2cef6f49131f8d6099c0f1166b8ab91a6dc08ad0b10a85a9431b3ec

So, I do not understand your question I guess.

Burt,
I think that he is saying he generated an address for his bc.i wallet, but although the coins are showing up at that address on the block chain, they are not showing up on the bc.i wallet and he is trying to get bc.i support to "manually" apply them which isn't how bc.i works, hence their comment about not being like PayPal.

OP, if you  did generate that address there, you should be able to export the private key and import it elsewhere and avoid them entirely.

If the address shows up in your account at bc.i, then just export it.  If not, then restore from a backup that includes that address. If you don't have access to that private key, bc.i support can't help you.

Export the private key for this address and import it into a lightweight wallet.  If you did generate it on their site, you should be able to do so.

Blockchain.info is often unreliable.
